Something I ate yesterday didn’t agree with me in the middle of the night. Not fun.

DR elmore3003, thanks for highlighting Britten's Paul Bunyan. Haven't listened to it in ages. Didn't realize until now that there is another commercial recording besides the Brunelle - from Richard Hickox on Chandos.

I can't imagine the Royal Opera version is better than the Minneapolis-Brunelle recording, which is so wonderful. I loved the City Opera producyion, but the broadcvast was so poor in concept.

Movies that I can’t understand why they are hits are too numerous to mention, but a couple are Farewell, My Concubine and, as Elmore aptly pointed out, Moulin Rouge (on screen and stage), plus all those superhero movies.

Stage: much of Andrew Lloyd Webber

DR John G, I found your qu.estion. Yes, Jeremy Clayton is the fantastic reed player who is Joshie's brother and the wonderful illustrator of Annabelle & Thatch.

I thought it was a way to plug the book to a new audience.

Now, when i had this phone conversation about the cats two weeks ago, or whenever it was, I told them that. Not only am I really pissed, I wamt this cockamamie company dead.

I am on the phone now with Amazing Home Care. Julie, my coordinator, confirmed that she heard me tell the scheduler about the cats. We will try to reschedule now.

I happened to look out the window at 10:25 a.m. and the windows on the car were clear of ice.

So I texted Great Clips for an appt.  Twenty minutes....so I got dressed and drove over. I was home with a nifty hairs cut by 11:10 a.m.

That sure worked out well.

I’m at Laura Ingalls Wilder Intermediate School a few minutes early. And yes, the library has the Wilder books.

Congratulations!

TOD:

Recalling the very dismissive first review in the Times of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
https://www.nytimes.com/1970/09/21/archives/tv-review-tim-conway-presents-own-show-on-cbs.html

"... Mary Tyler Moore, appearing at 9:30 on Saturdays, is in much worse difficulties. She is caught in a ridiculous item with one set of bizarre happenings at a TV station's newsroom and another in her living accommodations.

At the station, the editor is a happy sot who hires Miss Moore as she walks in and the station's news anchor man cannot pronounce the word “Chicago.” At home, Miss Moore disposes of a dilatory suitor, gets rid of her wandering new boss and starts a running gag with the neighbors."
