BY THE WAY.....

has there been any word yet of anything from the NY Times regarding Brain ??

My guess - and others - is that The New York Times will do a "round-up" review of NYMF like they've done in the past.  They do collective review of the festival's offerings.  There will probably be on at the end of this week, and one the closing week of the festival.

I thought I was being clever making up a fabric name like satin-ique, because it sounded like something from the early days of QVC.  Turns out Satinique is a whole line of hair products  http://www.articlealley.com/article_61841_34.html and a silver pattern. http://www.thesilverwareconnection.com/a-147.html

Who knew?

elmore, somehow in my drug-addled state, I missed your news about the Plaza Hotel.  Could you tell me which day of notes I need to re-read?

9 minutes of Fireworks music for the Plaza Hotel Centennial celebration next week.  I believe I got the job on Wednesday.

I see in the credits for NYMF production of UNLOCK'D that Bruce Coughin will be scoring the Goldrich-Heisler EVER AFTER.  I guess the ladies didn't like the demo. Fuckem.

Least they could have done is let me know I was no longer in the runing for it.

DR Cillaliz - I remember reading some arguments people had with the language learning theory behind the Rosetta program.  Not that it's not fine, but I'd definitely do a little research on the Internet before investing.

Thanks DR Singdaw and 3D.  I took Spanish through college, had a room mate from Costa Rica and many years ago was fairly fluent.  I've been working through an interpreter for over 20 years now and since I don't really speak it anymore I've pretty much lost what I had.  I can still read it quite well and understand what people say...it's the responding and starting conversations I'm not so good at.   I'm looking for something to get me speaking quickly and watching tv and reading Spanish doesn't work that well.  Rosetta Stone makes you speak and tells you if you get it right. You can do Rosetta Stone's online edition for 3 months for $109. Which compared to the price for the disks is pretty cheap, so that's why I'm looking at it. Other suggestions are welcome..

I hadn't thought about eBay. Thanks.

I did have a complete phone conversation in Spanish the other day rescheduling an appointment and explaining that I don't speak Spanish. Maybe it's just a mental block :)

Unfortunately it will have to be a virtual trip. After NYC, I'm home until I get things really rolling

Ah, now I get it!

I pretty much just want to read, and understand what people say in movies and such... I'm not interested in talkig with people- which is much harder, yes.

In my desire to finish the MARTHA GRAHAM DVD set tonight, I totally forgot about TORCHWOOD. I'll head back down in a minute to get the DVR to catch the next showing at some early hour of the morning. I'm sure it'll be on Demand in a few days, too, but I'd love to see it tomorrow.

I did watch the third of the dance films "Night Journey" which is the Oedipus story set to dance seen through Jocasta's eyes.

The three dance films produced by Nathan Kroll realy are astonishing looking. Except for one slight scratch at the very beginning of the second piece, these films look brand new. Just amazing clarity and detail.

And such a huge array of special features. Couldn't get over the variety. Everything from a vintage  interview with Aaron Copland to the "American Masters" hour program on Martha Graham. Lots of interviews, home movies, video essays!

Took me all evening to get through everything.

Well, I did have 40 minutes left at the end of the evening so I watched another BONES episode. In this one, Brennan and Sully finally connect, and the cast involves an old girl friend of Hodgins.

I have WHAT ABOUT BRIAN cued up in the player to start tomorrow. I never watched the show (I think DR Jennifer was a fan) during its 1 1/2 season run, but I guess I'll be catching up with it now.
