Happy Birthday to dear George - I hope your sister has made you a cake  -- or a pavilion

Thanks, Vixmom!  I don't know what dessert we'll have, but the family is getting together on Saturday and ordering pizza from a local pizza parlour called Dirty Dave's.  They're the best!

I thought you were going out to celebrate on Friday?

Plans changed yesterday.  It'll be easier for everyone to get together on Saturday, and we can get together earlier and stay together longer.

Oh, and the pizza place has changed, too...as of about 10 minutes ago!  My mom called and said that her friend Mona said that Dirty Dave's hasn't been that good lately, but that this other place was much better.  Actually, I don't really care, as long as I can get pepperoni and pineapple pizza with extra cheese and extra sauce.  That's my absolute favorite pizza. :D

I have.  They're pretty good.  I haven't gone there very much at all because they're out by my parents' house, and when I go to my parents' house, I usually go there for dinner.

Sorry to read about Arthur Laurents. I have a book of some of his non-musical plays. I've only read one of them. Will have to read more.

And now, it's time for me to leave and go home.

Until later.

(I hope that I didn't offend anyone with my joke post.)

One of the local theaters is doing "Assassins." Guess I''m going to have to try to snag a ticket. Have never seen that one on stage.

TOD:

I forgot that I had a deep-fried poached egg recently that was simply wonderful. That's right, the chef took a perfectly marvelous poached egg, battered it and deep-fried it quickly, so you got batter as well as egg yolk running all over a fillet of perfectly fresh fish beneath it.

I'm sorry, John G. I couldn't eat that.

Interesting, one of our local colleges is doing "Assassins" this summer.  I've never seen it and was planning to go

When I MD'd the west coast premiere of PUTTING IT TOGETHER, my band was on a raised dais upstage, and we always had to suppress giggles in Act II every night when the Squeaky Fromme song from ASSASSINS came up, the shot was fired, and 300 people twitched simultaneously.  :)

Today was a busy day. I left work early and went to help set up the Friends of the Library book sale.  OMG.  We have 1710 BOXES of books.   It took forever to unload the moving vans...yup, more than one moving van packed full of boxes of books.   We took them off the truck and put them in the general area where they should be.  Then people unpacked enough boxes to fill the 120 tables.  Then we opened all the other boxes and turned the books spine up so that people could see the books without having to dig through the boxes.  I know they'll be a mess very quickly, but it's starting to look pretty good.   I worked for 4 1/2 hours before I gave up.

There was another night when the sequencer I was using for the Piano II parts (the company was too cheap to hire two keyboard players) malfunctioned and the metronome started chiming loudly.  Luckily it was in the Night Music sequence and blended right in until I could turn the damn thing off.  :)

I decided to pick up the complete works of Charles Dickens.  It's 2 boxes full of books, copyright 1894 (or something like that)  I think there are something like 24 books!  I picked up a couple other books.  I'm sure I'll find more when I'm there Friday and Saturday nights.  I've never experienced opening night of the book sale.  I guess it's really crazy.

Good Evening, once again!

Well... I went out for a late dinner with my friend, Yosh. And since it was Cinco de Mayo, we asked the bartender to mix up something with tequila.  Well... Whoa!.... <hiccup>

And what do you think they're saying on the chat boards about Mr. Laurents' passing?  "This is such shocking news."  Note to idiots:  It's not shocking when a man who has lived and worked for ninety-three years dies.  Shocking is when a twelve year old dies, or a twenty year old or a sixty year old.
