Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written the day after the day after, and now it is time for you to post until the day after the day after cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MEMORIST!
-
First post after BK.
-
T.O.D.
Probably, THE THING WITH TWO HEADS.
-
Tom, we don't really do much for Christmas. There's only four of us left, my brother, his wife, and their son.
-
Seriously, THE UNINVITED.
-
Well, hopefully, at least, the weather was nice.
-
Goodnight, jan and George!
-
My sister-in-law is from Thailand so she's Buddhist, my 27 year old nephew is too old for big celebrations (he says) and sometimes says he's atheist, my brother and I are non-practicing Protestants so we just go out for a fancy (expensive) dinner that I pay for and call it a day.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
My dad is the only one in my immediate family who is religious. The rest of us pretty much are all atheists. And since we're all adults (my niece is 34), we just exchange names and buy very few gifts. It works for us. :)
-
Christmas is whatever works for you. Glad I'm not the only one.
-
Have a great night and rest of the year (life), George!
-
Thanks, jan! You, too!
-
Well, I'm off to bed, too.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.

Last full day in Deutschland.

Dear Jan, I am honored that a rescue dog has been named after me. Thank you.
The New York shelters will not resume euthanasia until Jan. 2, but I noticed on yesterday's adoption lists ( http://www.nycacc.org/adopt/adoption-search ) that the number of dogs in the Manhattan shelter has swelled from 3 pages (9 dogs) on Dec. 22 to six, and that a lot are old dogs. I guess the stories of people dumping their older dogs for pups has more truth than I hoped. Even sadder, this is the list of animals the ACC has determined as good for adoption. There's still the unseen list of sick animals and animals judged to be unadoptable.
Animals are not cars, people!
-
DR JohnG, what nice photos of you with your grandniece!
-
Today at 11:00 I will meet Joshie at the Performing Arts library.
-
Last full day in Deutschland.
Hey, DR John G - we are on the same continent! At least for another day!
-
The cold is finally showing positive signs of moving its ass. The congestion no longer feels like a block of concrete between my ears, and the chills and throbbing pain in my joints, eyeballs, and teeth have moved on. I feel much better this morning, so I hope this is pretty much over.

Hey, DR John G - we are on the same continent! At least for another day!
Enjoy your holiday, DR Matthew!
-
Good morning to all
-
It is a shame about the New York Shelters. In my area, there are no-kill shelters and then there are many private groups that go to the kill shelters and take in dogs to their organization.
-
BK
Did you see the film Foxfire that came out around the same time? I read it was the last three-strip technicolor made (in the US?)
-
Good morning, all.
-
This is such a bizarre week, what with yesterday having felt like a Monday — ALL DAY.
-
Good morning!
-
My brother and his wife, two of his daughters and their beaus, and husband wife's parents were at my Moms yesterday . They were down from Massachusetts. So I went over there right from work, Vixdad joined us when he got out of work and we hung out until after 10
-
So a nice Boxing Day
-
The third daughter was traveling up from Virginia after work so was notexpected to arrive until around midnight
-
I couldn't stay to wait for her
-
I can watch Ray Milland in anything, good or bad. I started off with an unusual take on him because my introduction to him was not in any classic film, but in the Roger Corman PREMATURE BURIAL. That was also the first of the Corman series of films I saw, and my 11-year-old self was thrilled with it. I soon caught up with the others, but Milland’s presence in that one made it special for me. My second film with him was PANIC IN YEAR ZERO which he directed. DIAL ‘M’ was probably my next, on black and white TV, and it’s been a love affair ever since. In looking over his filmography, I see that I could easily enjoy a Milland marathon. Never saw LISBON, so I look forward to that one as well.
-
Well I have had a blueberry muffin and a cup of coffee time to get dressed and go to work

Vibes for a lovely day today for all of youze guyz
-
I have had three (3) homemade chocolate chip cookies and am on my second cup of Joe.

I've seen parts of LISBON.....but I also fell asleep - it was on TCM or AMC many years ago.....

The sciatica has lessened a great deal, so I plan on taking a nice long walk today.
Lovely Good luck the walk doesn't make it worse.
-
The Vancouver airport is nice with the Christmas decorations and winter white lights.
-
It was strange taking a walk after dinner at the hotel inside the airport. Keith wanted some ice cream. When we finally found a flower shop that sold ice cream bars it dawned on us that we did not have any Canadian money and it was too small of a purchase to charge ;D
-
Fortunately a credit card at Starbucks was fine. I got a children's size hot chocolate to swallow my vitamins with. It was good. Keith had his usual latte.
-
Thursday morning greetings! We’re home after Richard’s first cataract surgery. It went fine and we even stopped for breakfast at First Watch on the way home. My alarm went off at 3:45am, his at 4:15. Any bets on who will be asleep first?
-
We are on the plane waiting to take off for our 14 hour flight.
-
As always I checked if I had a barf bag, good thing too as I didn't. I have it now. It is an odd little bag and had a tear strip to open it. Imagine about to throw up and trying to get the darn thing open. I have done so and am ready for action if needed. Fingers crossed for a smooth flight.
-
DR Matthew have a wonderful time.
I lVibes for a lovely day today for all of youze guyz
Right back at ya in your new life, DR vixmom.
I like that "New life" 😊
-
Barf-free travels, Jane! I look forward to the photos.
-
Thanks Laura. I had a little egg salad sandwich which was good except it had scallions or something in it that I should avoid when flying. I am already feeling yucky and we are still waiting to take off. I should be ok though.
-
It was nice to see Joshie and my librarian friend Bob today but the trip was futile and we learned nothing new.

Hey, DR John G - we are on the same continent! At least for another day!
DR Matthew, i hope you enjoy your trip half as much as i have mine.

The sciatica has lessened a great deal, so I plan on taking a nice long walk today.
Yay! May it never return.
-
I'm up, I'm up - around six hours of sleep.
-
I haven't seen Foxfire and it rather surprised me that they were still doing three-strip Technicolor in 1954 (when it was shot).
-
Good morning.
-
What the heck day is this? Thursday?
-
Tonight I am going to see SCROOGE, THE MUSICAL.
-
I was supposed to go last week, but I was sick.
-
It will be strange to see SCROOGE after Christmas, but I guess I have watched my own version before in July.
-
I have had a nice chat with my niece and my mom; eaten a lunch of mashed potatoes and sliced ham
-
I am just finishing my coffee and then must head back to the office

-
Hello, everyone.
-
BK and I had a nice lunch of fish and chips. They do a very good job of it there.
-
I had to pay some bills. That's done now. I woke at 4 am and couldn't go back to sleep, so a nap may be in my future.

Thank you, DR Jeanne! We’ve had a very lazy day, which is just what the doctor ordered.

Fun lunch with dear reader Jeanne - as she mentioned, we both had their excellent fish and chips.

I came right back to the Valley and picked up one package and some mail, then came right home. Now listening to music and I don't care who knows it.

I would imagine that most places would take your $US money.

Three year-old Pablo was abandoned "Too many pets" by a heartless owner who owned his parents and had owned Pablo since he was born. Pablo had not known any other home, and he was a sweet dog, easily frightened, who was terrified of being abandoned in the hell that is the NYC ACC system. The poor dog was so terrified that he wet the floor as soon as his owner walked out, and three days later he was on the euthanasia list for "behavioral problems": he cried, he withdrew, he would not come out of his shell or show signs of being able to do so. I was convinced he was dead meat, and at the last minute a sympathetic adoption saved his life. I was so happy, and thought no more about it. Today the rescue agency posted these shots of Pablo leaving the shelter and in his new home. Some days I do believe in God. Or something.

Smiling Pablo!

Good news from DR GINNY.

Now I want fish and chips.
DR JOHN G I am sure your birdy is anxiously awaiting your return.

Good evening !

So nice to see that Pablo was adopted!

TOD: the only Ray Milland movie I recall seeing is Dial M for Murder, which I have seen many times.
-
Good news from DR GINNY...
So far, so good, DR JRand. Post-op appointment tomorrow morning will tell us more.
-
I have loved THE UNINVITED since it terrified me on the late show around 1962 or 63. I think it may be the only Ray Milland film I've seen complete. I have never got the plot for "Dial M for Murder."

Speaking of older dogs and/or cats...Larry, my sister's boyfriend, who had Neve (the cat) before I got her, spoke with his neighbor who had Neve before Larry. He found out that Neve wasn't 14 years old when I got her last year, but actually 16 years old, which means that now she's actually 17, not 15! She's still pretty active for a 17 year old cat!
-
Good evening.
-
Great news for Pablo!
And my goodness, Neve is an old gal. I'm glad she is doing so well.
-
My next-door-neighbors brought us some vegetarian tamales. Oh my goodness. I ate one and it was SO good.
-
I walked to the bank to pay my credit card bill. It is not 10,000 steps, but it is the most walking I've done in several weeks. I did just fine.

Listening to an old mono recording of Handel's Messiah by Handel. Believe it or not, I've never heard this damn thing. It's interesting as these things go - not really my thing, but this performance conducted by Malcolm Sargent seems very good.

Every year at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, the Olympia Chorale has a free community Messiah Sing-Along. I've ushered a few times, but have only attended without ushering once. It's fun, but also not my thing...because of the religiousness, not the choral singing. I was in choirs from 7th grade all the way through five years of college. :)

Well, it's past time for me to leave work, so I'm leaving work.
Be back later.

No, this one's from 1946 and mono from acetates, but not sounding bad at all and what seems like a very good performance. Sargent recorded it four or five times and this was his most popular piece - he toured with it endlessly.

If we were still at The Federal, the January show would be sold out. But Vitello's seats thirty more people and that's how many seats are left and we're still two weeks from the show. I suppose if it's completely sold out by the weekend, we could query about adding a matinee, although I'm not at all sure Vitello's has that option.

Are you feeling better , TCB?
-
Other than your friend he Ghost of Christmas oast, how was Scrooge?
-
Are you feeling better , TCB?
Yes, thank you.

Christmas Present. It is so weird how they keep changing SCROOGE. There were three songs in this production, that were not in my production; and one song that is sung and danced by the Crachits, is no longer in the show. Very weird.
-
The Crachits song was one of the only songs that never changes from production to production.
-
Until now.
