Ummm... It's not Dino... He called in sick... It's me... Jose.
;D
Jose, can you play a bit louder... You are getting lost in the wind!
...Ladies and Gentlemen.... DRs elmoore and TCB...
And the word of the day is: UNDULATE!Undulate: (verb) to move in a wavy pattern or with a rising and falling motion
But I'm here all alone. We need posts!!!
Speaking of BUTCH AND SUNDANCE: THE EARLY YEARS (which was a flop at the box-office), I read this morning that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are considering a remake of BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID.
Let me predict now if they do such a terrible, horrendous thing, it will flop bigger than huge.
And who would they get to play Ella? Lindsay Lohan?
:P
I wonder who would play which role?
Today is National Handwriting Day.
Conversely, it is also Better Business Communication Day.
Jrand, installation in the library will be finished probably Wednesday, though I might require extra shelves. The wall of bookcases in the office will take a little longer because I asked for them to wrap it around another wall. But come Wednesday, books are coming out of boxes.
Disney meeting is postponed - don't like that. But, I think she wants me to look at the tapes first, and we're finding out why they didn't arrive.
Wow...in the mail today I got:
SUPERMAN DVD - the Second Season
TOWER OF EVIL - DVD
THE CALIMARI WRESTLER - DVD
HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL - DVD
SWEENEY TODD - 2 LP set with Libretto
Who knew working at a bookstore could be so profitable? ;D
So, no one in LA has heard of Robin Zodiac?

I've heard of Steve Zodiac!

I will be seeing Ring of Fire, the new Johnny Cash influenced musical, on Thursday, February 16th.

Not that I found a puppet attractive or anything.
Charm song is exactly what it described in the Kleban lyric - a song from a musical that may not make you emotional, may not bring you to tears, may not necessarily advance the plot, may not make you laugh out loud, but simply makes you smile.
Popular is indeed a good example, as is Wouldn't It Be Loverly.
Hmmm... Jarrod Emick... :)
-I do have to say that as sexy as he was in the revival of Damn Yankees he was also heart-breaking (in a good sense). So glad he won the Tony that year.
*And I've heard nothing but "good buzz" about Ring of Fire. Who knows? Maybe after the success of Jersey Boys and now Ring of Fire... It's the rebirth of the Jukebox Musical!
:P
On Thursday January 26th according to a calendar supplied to me by a certain Australian, it isAnd not a good day! It is expected to once again be about 105 degrees F and there are bushfires already! There will not be much to celebrate.
Australia Day (http://www.australiaday.gov.au/)
Another example of how the world has descended into a sleazy, sensationalist cesspool. The Buttafuocos and Amy Fischer have a agreed to appear in "a televised reunion". I'm sorry! But when you try to murder your lover's wife, there is no reunion! You don't all get together and cozily reminisce about the good ole days.
All three of the principals involved can only be agreeing to this for one reason: money. As a little man named Welch once said to another famous historical scumbag: "Have you no sense of decency?" The Television station has none; the Buttafuocos and Fischer have none; the morons who would watch this have none.
I'll pick you up at the SF airport, DRJOSE, but the plane will have to land in Indianapolis.

JRand55, I am listening to a 2 CD set (borrowed from the library) of Pedro Vargas, the crooner who sang those songs in Aventurera! Some beautiful songs!
Another bunch that have given Long Island black eye
It's embarrassing when you are in another country and they ask where in the states are you from and you answer Long Island and they want to know if you have ever met Joey Buttafuco or Amy Fisher or the Gottis, or the Lohans or or or.... :P ::).
When I hear of Long Island, the first thing that comes to mind is "I can't wait 'till we get to Quogue."

Sorry, vixmom, had to delete your post above with the link - too long and put us into widescreen.
Tonight, before HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER comes on, I'll watch last week's THE OFFICE, and that will effectively clear off the DVR all of the shows recorded from last week.
Of course, it starts all over tonight with two new shows added to the DVR.
oops sorry! :-[
Question for DRs Matthew and Ron Pulliam...
So, which one of you is picking me up at the airport on Thursday?
;)
-I need to spend some time today getting my schedule figured out for Thursday. Get my bearings in order. I'll probably just hang around the Curran... Any suggestions?
When I hear of Long Island, the first thing that comes to mind is "I can't wait 'till we get to Quogue."
DR Jose, it is too bad you couldn't make a pit stop in Portland, Oregon while you are on the west coast!
JRand55, I am listening to a 2 CD set (borrowed from the library) of Pedro Vargas, the crooner who sang those songs in Aventurera! Some beautiful songs!
I think you should take the BART...exit the Powell Street station...and you'll be only a few blocks from the Curran.
What hotel are you booked into?
Why are you coming on a Thursday and why only for that day?
There is a phenomenal deli across the street from the Curran called Sam's....and down the street, diagonally across the corner from the A.C.T. (which is next door to the Curran) is Max's...WONderful food!
Pit stop...TOO funny...cuz that's why he's coming here...to make a "pit" stop in the Curran orchestra pit.
But I bet you won't see Jack Noseworthy hanging around.
And just how does one properly pronounce "Quogue"?
-And I still get mystified by "Worcester", and it's close relative, "Worcestershire". ;)
MattH, by any chance did you record and save the last two Book of Daniel episodes? I missed then both and would be very grateful if you could supply me with copies. Thanks!
And to think I missed the whole thing and have no idea what you were linking us to....
Oh, well.
I'm sorry, but I watched them "live" and recorded MONK. And the MONK episodes are gone, too!
And it looks like NBC is not going to make any more DANIELs after the six episodes are finished. CONVICTION goes into that time slot after the Olympics.

try this one

Well I am off to fight the winds and rain and dark of night and the crazies on the LIE
laters!!
I'm pretty sure I'll be relying on the BART to get me to and from the Curran from the airport. -But I need to see how late it runs, and/or early it opens.
I will be leaving Dulles at 7:00am(EST) and getting into SFO at 10:02am(PST). I'm just gonna be traveling with my overnight case - change of clothes and toiletries - and my laptop. Right now, I'm basically planning to "rough it" while I'm in San Fran. In other words, no hotel.
I'll try to get some sight-seeing done. Maybe pop into rehearsal - if they're having one. Hang out with Brad and Andy, the conductor and his assistant. Then see the show. Then hang out after the show for a bit, then probably head back to SFO since I have to fly out at 6:05am.
DRs Ron Pulliam and Matthew - Thanks for the info. I just started looking up schedules and stuff. Looks like it will be very easy to get around while I'm there.
-And, of course, now that I'm checking things out, I REALLY wish I was there for more than just a couple of hours.
DR DakotaCelt - LIE = Long Island Expressway.
Which is usually "long", but sometimes not so "express". ;)
You can check the BART schedules from SFO to Powell street at time of your arrival...and from Powell Street to SFO following the show by visiting:
http://www.bart.gov/index.asp (http://www.bart.gov/index.asp)
Looks like you plan on staying occupied while you are here. I'm sure the music director will be very good company!!!
Disney meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, and I have until Friday to do the first draft of the little scripts. I have two-and-a-half hours worth of tapes to watch - haven't decided whether I'll watch them all now or this evening, or half this evening and the rest in the morning, now that I have until Wednesday.

DR MATTHEW - I love working on productions of HELLO, DOLLY! I love the music and the show is so funny.....it's got Elegance!
And I believe the real "Aventurera" is currently planning a visit to the US sometime this year. It will be opening in San Francisco in March, and possibly makes it's way to LA.
Viva the nostalgia (http://www.calendarlive.com/stage/cl-et-aventurera20jan20,0,3230797.story?coll=cl-stage)

If he was from Long Island, where was Ishmael from? ;D

The producer's a good friend of our Dear Friend BK.
DP Colin and I watched a DVD of sketches written by Victoria Wood. Very funny lady - wonderful monolgues and the sketches written for Patricia Routledge and for Julie Walters are brilliant.

Hey, elmore, do you think said producer will send us opening night tix? I'd love to be there, if only to deck him.

Strangely enough(?), I have never worked on Hello, Dolly!, nor any other Jerry Herman show.
...But I have done every Sondheim show except for The Frogs, so... That must count for sumthin'!
As I was saying... ;-)
DR Jane - I've been very good about stretching before and after my exercises. However, I think I may have "over-stretched" after my long run the other day. The heat pack/wrap did wonders for me today, and I'm hoping that a good night's sleep will take the rest of the "twinge" away.
However, I do have to say that it's been very nice being able to touch my toes without having to bend my knees as much as I used to. Ah, flexibility.
Deathtrap? ???
These days I expect it is cheaper to buy a new player than repair an old one!
DeltaCelt is your night job teaching sign language?
I hope Bruce didn't need to rush out and purchase a new VCR player.
Jose check out Fog City Diner: http://www.fogcitydiner.com
Darn, it appears their wonderful macaroni and cheese now has ham in it, not that you would care.
I would avoid Ghirardelli Square and even Fisherman’s Warf, both unfortunately have lost their charm over the years.
I do that on the side. I owrk in an academic library
According to my Futurama calendar, it's National Pie Day! Celebrate and have a pie...or at least a piece! ;D
Great news....do you shelve by author, by subject, or by size and color?
Not that I found a puppet attractive or anything.
And not a good day! It is expected to once again be about 105 degrees F and there are bushfires already! There will not be much to celebrate.
Rain (sans lightning) vibes would be appreciated.
I have liked Ben Affleck in some roles (the title role in DAREDEVIL, for instance), but I have loathed him in some others (Jack Ryan in THE SUM OF ALL FEARS, a perfect example of miscasting).
Matt Damon I've tended to like in most everything I've seen him do, but perhaps for my generation, Butch and Sundance belong to Newman and Redford and no other actors could possibly compete.
Or maybe it's just me. I simply think it's a lousy, dreadful idea. Like the PSYCHO remake, I'll have zero interest in seeing a new version.
I'm not playing the role of Lizzie!Another five degrees and we may have a musical.
I think you would like the HELLO DOLLY pit, DRJOSE. The music can be glorious.....and MAME can, too.
How have you avoided these two warhorses?
and that's not enough for a DVD collection I reckon so they'll be lost in the mists of time!

Exactly. I remember how angry I was when I heard that some broad was foolish enough to try and remake Janet Gaynor's STAR IS BORN. Sacrilege!
BK have you also tried using a cleaning tape. Whenever my VCR has acted up, I've always done this, and it usually helps.
Is this him?

Thanks, Jose, for the description of South Beach Chic. It was very helpful.
Yes, DakotaCelt. You may come along next time.
I also saw this:
I think the overture to MAME is one of the all-time greats. I will never forget how excited I was sitting in the audience at the Winter Garden and feeling the electricity sizzle through the crowd as that overture was played. One of my great theater memories (and it was interrupted by applause a couple of times).
But they added another color to it that the original didn't have, DR TCB - Arlen's music. When you have something new to bring to the table, I can adjust and judge it on its own merits.
But so far I haven't read anything about the new BUTCH CASSIDY being a musical.
Cardinals are my favorite bird!
I am THE Bollywood fan, Dakotacelt...not that I haven't tried converting others on this sight (althougth actually BK and JRand55 got me started with Indian cinema originally). What is NBC doing that is Bollywood related?
We watched the snow geese fly in to roost for the night:
Snow geese flying:
Then we saw the cranes fly in at sunset:
Beautiful, DakotaCelt. Some day I'd like to see that.
Today we saw the very large array:
I actually got to see a whooping crane last year.... Large bird yet delicate and graceful
But is there any way South Beach chic would be acceptable attire for the synagogue porton of the bar mitzvah? We're flying down in the morning, attending the services, then there's a luncheon at a country club, then the South Beach Chic party starts a few hours later, and we're flying back the same night. I'm wondering if it's possible to convert synagogue clothes to South Beach Chic just by bringing along a change of sports coat. Or does it really call for completely different everything?
Then we went ahead and caught a movie, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe". A wonderful movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The opening moments brought back many fond memories of when I first read the book back in grade school. I could even picture those line drawings from the books in my head as the story progressed. And I was amazed at just how much of the book and the details I remembered - and how faithful the movie was to the book. I really do hope they continue the series. -In the meantime, I think I'm going to try to read the whole series.
And all the CGI didn't bother me in the least. Very well done. And the voice talent was fun too.
*Andy had never read the books, and wasn't familiar with the story at all... He had a couple of good scares. :)
I am so glad DRLAURA got her camera back!
I also saw this:
DR DAKOTA CELT there are several SOUTH PACIFIC videos on EBAY right now for less than $5!!
