FJL - hasn't arrived yet, but I did get Tomovoz's CD today.

Jose - I said yes prior to hearing the score.  I read the script early on, thought it wasn't too hot, but the guy was persistent and really wanted me to do it, and I thought what the hell.  In hindsight, I should have said no.  The script has amusing things in it - the score is what's really dreadful.

We have an alumni association meeting at four, and I may have one further meeting after that - if the latter doesn't happen, it may happen in the morning.

Nope.  Nada.  No way.  DR MBarnum is a very modest guest.  I believe he wore his PJs with the bunny ears under his daily clothing.

Along with his black underwear.

I was thrilled to know they're still publishing The Weekly Reader.

And I was pleased to note that he seems to have done this without any supervision.

"MORE OVALTINE HOT, PLEASE" has become "MORE OVALTINE SHAKES, PLEASE" - at least this summer version of the commercial makes sense.

What about Australia?

Also, I'm not ever going to be listing Return To Oz in the notes, so only those who peruse the board will know about it.  I really cannot say enough about this score - it's brilliant and filled with classic Shire melodies.  I wouldn't wait too long either - there aren't unlimited supplies - in fact, one this hits the film music boards tomorrow, it will go really fast - especially because I'm allowing one mail order house to purchase quite a few copies.

Forgot to mention that Debra Messing's new miniseries begins tonight - THE STARTER WIFE at 9. It's on one of the cable channels - Lifetime or USA or one of those. I'll have to look at the cable guide to be sure.

I'll give it a try.

Definitely not interested in PIRATE MASTER.

Am only one episode into "More Tales from the City" DVD.  I'll likely skip all network TV until "Big Brother".

Well, now that I've stretched and cooled down, it's time for me to wash the dust and pollen off me.  The string of dry days has dried out the walking paths in the park - especially around the Reservoir - and there was a lot of dust being kicked up and in the air.  I had to shake out some dirt from my shoes in the midst of today's trek.

Do we invite the Sunnis who are fleeing the Shiites or the Shiites who are fleeing the Sunnis? Maybe a mix of both so they can continue the civil war over here?

I suspect that the refugees are fleeing other Arabs, not the U.S.

How many thousand non-English speaking Muslim Arabs would Salem like to welcome? Ask your neighbors - I suspect you'll find the response disheartening.

der Brucer

I did not say that the Iraqi's were fleeing the US...they are fleeing Iraq because their lives are in danger for having helped the US (or other foreign invaders...so to speak)...this is one of the reasons (besides humanitarian reasons) that the US should be at the forefront of helping these displaced people who are languishing in camps with no place to go. Others are govt workers and their families who have been forced to  flee due to the insurgants dislike of the new govt and anyone who was or is associated with it.

Some are Muslim, many are Christian...and I imagine with over 1 million of these refugees there are other religions in the mix as well as a smattering of athiests, not that it should matter.

And I am sure there are many in Salem who would not want Iraqi refugees here...but frankly I don't give a darn.

Libraries that want to receive the new Harry Potter book before its July 21 release date have been required by the publisher to limit the number of staffers who will handle the copies and to provide names and contact info for each branch manager.  Apparently, the system for which I work has complied.

My supervisor (and his supervisor also...I think) had to sign a contract, as well...I work in the acquisitions department of the Timberland Regional Library.  We'll get it that week, be we won't actually release ANY of the copies until Monday, July 23 because no one works here on Saturday and the books wouldn't even be able to get to the branches on Friday.  People will get the books when they get them...they better not complain.

A friend of mine is currently in the Broadway company of Forbidden Broadway, and come the new fall, he'll also have a cast recording to his credit for the yet unnamed new edition.  And his OCR will actually get released!

:-\

:)

What has been recorded but not released??

I simply don't watch CBS as often as you, it seems.

I've seen no promos of any kind, thus far.  But I admittedly haven't watched CBS since the series finale of "Jericho" (or the season finale to "Survivor", whichever came first).

I'm not actually sure if i saw the promos on CBS or on the Canadian channel that carries BIG BROTHER.  I just know i've seen many promos.

If a Canadian channel is running the same program CBS is running (at the same time) then we see the Canadian commercials. So that is another reason i am not sure.

I do watch Global a lot (the Canadian channel that BB is on). And i'm trying to think what i watch that is only on CBS.  I'm not sure.

FYI:

Quote
Huddlestone Arch: C105

[Constructed 1866]
Designer: Calvert Vaux 1824-1895 • England

Architectural Highlights
Dimensions: Width - 22 feet: Height - 10 feet.
Hidden away amidst the quiet country setting
of the Ravine, is one of Central Park’s most
picturesque arches, the Huddlestone.
Beyond its visual appeal, this arch is a
remarkable feat since it was built without
the seal of mortar or metal supports.
Relying on force exerted by gravity and
friction, Huddlestone Arch is constructed entirely
of immense uncut boulders, one weighing
100 tons, which gives Huddlestone its
unique natural appearance and remarkable
sturdiness.

In springtime, one of the attractions of
Huddlestone in Central Park is the yellow
forsythia that hangs over the rock’s
passageway on the arch's south side.
Parallel to the walkway,
is the Loch’s waterway that gently flows
under the arch as it disappears from view
when it meets the jarring structure of the
Lasker Rink on its northern side.

...his seatmates will have to be tested for the next two years just to make sure no infection has taken hold.

Sure glad I wasn't on one of those flights. Ever since my teen years I have tested postive for TB (the skin test) - naturally the Docs then want to do a lung Xray - then they discover that "little dark spot" that has also been there since my teen years!

I will probably die of radiation poisoning trying to demonstrate that I do not have TB!

Good for you! Unfortunately the folks who will make the decisions (the Politicians) care a great deal about the vocal outcry from the community. Imagine the uproar if an amendment to admit 250,000 Iraqi refugees were added to the current Immigration Bill!
