I've had like five orders this morning - are people remembering that the price is going up on January 1st (probably the 2nd, really)?

DR Edisaurus, as to your question yesterday about where to find VIDEO WATCHDOG...most Borders and Barnes and Nobles carry it.

I was telling my friend (who directed the film I sent) that I was looking for that magazine and he suggested several stores that I hadn't tried. (The Borders and B&N I checked at didn't have it but I will check back after the hoildays to see if it's there yet.)

If they don't carry it, I will, of course, demand that they do!

Oooh!!! Thanks for the reminder!

*Now if someone were to play catch-up on their ordering, and were to order a couple of items, is there some break on the S&H?

DR George - I'm lovin' that Borders Rewards program.

I signed up for that while Xmas shopping. But I didn't get anything from them that explained how you use the rewards. The clerk tried to explain it but there were too many people in line. I guess I'll check their website.

As I was checking out, I wondered why I hadn't gone to B&N first, since I'm already a member there and could have saved at least $200. Duhhh...

Worst:
1. Talladega Nights - I was forced to go to this one.

This was actually one of the few releases I saw in a theatre this year. Sad, isn't it. So since I had little basis for comparision, I thought it was quite funny. I've done a lot of work with NASCAR in the past and am more familiar with the "culture" than I thought I would ever be, so maybe that was the appeal.

I did see a lot of great films at festivals, though.

I'm on hold with the Warner Bros. help line.  Two weeks ago they called and told me they were sending my replacement envelope for the two Superman discs that are incorrectly done in the new set.  I've read online that many have gotten theirs and have gotten their replacement discs - I haven't received the fershluganah envelope yet.  Of course, I've been on hold for almost ten minutes.

Hi, MusicGuy--the building in question is the Gen. M.B. Kauffman Building at historic Ft. Douglas in Salt Lake City.

Music Guy, I'm glad you asked that because I've always wondered that, too (about the 3 other people, that is.)

It's very interesting to hear about your father, DR JMK. I'd like to visit the military museum some time. (I'm an ex-Coast Guard brat, myself.)

And congratulation on the reduction of your "fourth person".  I see that some of us *do* keep their resolutions!

The woman said the envelope should be arriving - they're getting a lot of calls from people who haven't received theirs - she has no idea how they're being sent out - by initial, by who called first - no clew.  She said to wait another couple of weeks - which seems ridiculous.

My plans today include a trip to the NYPL to look at all of the Townsend Walsh BABES IN TOYLAND scrapbooks for one last time (sob!).

A friend of mine was shopping at B&N with her teenagers. They had been there the day before and the kids accused her of buying a porn video for their dad. She was dumbfounded. They smirked knowingly and told her that they had seen her buying a copy of "Babes in Toyland"!

She suggested that they all watch it together that night, and they may learn something. I guess they learned not to make snap judgements!

I wish I could have been there when they started watching it!

Thanks to DR MusicGuy for asking BK about the track listing for the Wonderful Guy CD.  And thanks to BK for posting it last night.  I've printed it and made an insert for my jewel case!

Hmmm...I might ask for a copy of said CD in return for a little "Brain" surgery...

DR Edi - you'd like this CD a lot!

Speaking of such, my DH was very surprised by the shape-note DVD.  He had not even heard of it.  Thanks for the lead!

Yeah... Just check Borders.com - then click on Borders Stores or Borders Rewards - for the program info.  -And be sure to register your card online too while you're there. :)

As for not going to B&N... Oops!

It just came out, but I hope he can spread the word, since they have no distributor.  (The scene at the end in the car, unless they've changed it, are the filmmakers. Very sweet people.) I'd be interested in hearing the similarities and differences in the scene up in Ohio.

Hope he likes it!

*And The Virgin Megastore also started a frequent buyer program of their own - V.I.P.  Basically, for every 100 points you earn - a point basically equalling each dollar spent, sometimes two - you get $5 off your next purchase.  Plus, you get additional coupons with each purchase.  The "Buy One, Get One 50% Off" ones come in handy.  -Especially when you add in the $5.00 off coupon too at the register.  :)

Shop quickly at Virgin - it is my prognosis that it won't be around much longer (that was my prognosis for Tower, as well).

Thanks, DR Jose!

You're very welcome, DR Edisaurus.

*And I really have taken advantage of those weekly coupons.  And sometimes I've really taken advantage of them: You're only supposed to use each coupon, once each day.  Well... If you're like me, then you print out a couple copies of the coupons for that week - usually just a weekend.  Then go to one store and buy one item.  Then if there happens to be another Borders store in the area... And so on and so forth.  Then repeat the following day.  *There are actually four Borders stores within a ten mile radius of the theatre, so... -Two of them only three Metro stops away even!   :)

*And even though I've become a fan of Amazon.com of late, there a couple of items that I've been able to buy at Borders with the coupons that Amazon only sells at a limited discount.

And, yes, I suspect a LOT of DVD viewing, CD listening and Book reading coming up for me in 2007 based on my purchases of the past couple of weeks.  -I don't think there will be enough hours in the year.  ;)

I always judge June Kenney by her best work....and her worst and her average work...it is all sort of the same for her I think.

I have about $25 in Border's reward money to use! Woohoo.

I attempted to use it when they had the 40% off boxed sets sale as I wanted to get the 2nd PERRY MASON set...alas, they didn't have any PERRY MASON sets in stock.

Back from a jog - I knew if I didn't gird my loins that I wouldn't do it at all.  It was a little easier today, despite the wind and the chill.

Oh, I forgot to mention my favorite moment from The Black Dahlia - where Hartnett and Johansson are lying in bed after doing their thing and he - get this - puts TWO cigarettes in his mouth and lights them!  I'll bet all the youngsters on the set were going "Brilliant idea, Brian!"

And then, of course, I watched the puff piece extras and had to endure all these "actors" going on about all the research they did and their characters and it's all such acting classs bushwa and the always-amusing thing is that none of it shows up on the screen.
