Well, you've read the notes, the notes were me and drowsy, and now it is time for you to post until the drowsy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERFUSION!
-
I'm doing my taxes, but I have a couple of questions for the payroll person at work. :-\
-
Bright and sunny but very cold this morning.
-
I've packed a couple of Amazon Marketplace orders and will pop them in the mailbox when I go out later to have lunch with friends.
-
Since no one is around, i can post this and beat a hasty retreat:
A man is driving along a highway and sees a rabbit jump out across the middle of the road.
He swerves to avoid hitting it, but unfortunately the rabbit jumps right in front of the car.
The driver, a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulls over and gets out to see
what has become of the rabbit.
Much to his dismay, the rabbit is the Easter Bunny, and he is DEAD.
The driver feels so awful that he begins to cry.
A beautiful blonde woman driving down the highway
sees a man crying on the side of the road
and pulls over.
She steps out of the car and asks the man
what's wrong.
"I feel terrible," ! he explains,
"I accidentally hit the Easter Bunny with my car and KILLED HIM."
The blonde says,"Don't worry."
She runs to her car and pulls out a spray can. She walks over to the limp, dead Easter Bunny , bends down, and sprays the contents onto him.
The Easter Bunny jumps up, waves its paw at the two of them and hops off down the road.
Ten feet away he stops, turns around and waves again,
He hops down the road another 10 feet, turns and waves,
Hops another ten feet, turns and waves, and repeats this again and again and again and again, until he hops out of sight.
The man is astonished. He runs over to the woman and demands, "What is in that can?
What did you spray on the Easter Bunny ?"
The woman turns the can around so that the man can read the label.
It says..
(Are you ready for this?)
(Are you sure?)
(You know you're gonna be sorry)
(Last chance)
(OK, here it is)
It says,
"Hair Spray
Restores life to dead hair,
and adds permanent wave."

Good morning, all.

Bad one, der Brucer. It was wise to post and hop off.

TOD: Soups such as carrot-ginger bisque or a finely pureed apple-onion-celery soup. Raw soups in the blender for quite a while can be wonderful. Or steaming hot soups like pea and mint.

Good morning, all! I slept later than I intended, and now i am dressed and moving about. When the alarm went off, I was dreaming about a release party for the Herbert songs.
So, I began this post about 30 minutes ago to be interrupted by bad news on the recording front. I believe we've lost our leading man and still haven't confirmed our juvenile lead. Damnation!
So, I've been looking at British baritones for replacing Andrew as Sir John Copeland. My thoughts are this:
James Cleverton:

Congrats to DR TCB on his millstone posting!!!
Great to see DR ANN back last night!
DR ELMORE you posted a picture of someone last week that I really liked, and now I cannot remember his name....maybe his last name was Sidney....oh well.....you are a very good casting director!
-
I love THE DROWSY CHAPERONE - I listen to the OBC a lot! And I have a recording of a performance that I like to listen to as well.
I like the Tall Brothers songs.....
First Hooker With Dialog - I would like that credit on my IMDB page.
-
And the word of the day is: PERFUSION!
And The Song Of The Day Is: HEART
-
TOD: soft food recommendations for meals.
Soup is good. Eggs. Some pasta.
Not for a meal - but things like yogurt.

Congrats to DR TCB on his millstone posting!!!

DR JRand61, I think the photos I posted were various actors who had played Raoul in the London production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. They all look good, can get through the power dymanics of Raoul's role, but really don't have good enough vocal technique beyond the bellowing. I thought Hadley Fraser was a possibility, but his PIRATE QUEEN and other youtube clips changed my mind. Curiously, the singers who often get cast for the POTO chorus have better singing chops.
I am bummed today. Hoping things will change, though.
-
Thank for the continued vibes for Mom. They have been working--Mom was feeling great this weekend and in excellent spirits.
-
Very happy to see that DR TCB is posting, too!

TOD:
A Greek Omlette.
Mmmm... I wouldn't mind having one myself now...

~~~~~~~~ PAGE TWO GREEK OMLETTE DANCE! ~~~~~~~~~
TOD: Jello instant fat free, sugar free pudding.
Monday morning greetings! My first mission today is to get Richard's prescription meds to the mailing place for overnight shipping to his seminary in Wisconsin (clergy retreat). Later this afternoon, I'll take Mom to her follow-up appointment with the chiropractor.
-
Thank for the continued vibes for Mom. They have been working--Mom was feeling great this weekend and in excellent spirits.
That's great news, DR Dan (the Man) - more vibes for Mom!
-
DR Elmore - sorry about the recording difficulties.
-
VIBES to all. And strong vibes at that!
-
TOD: Macaroni and Cheese, always.
Betsy and I have managed to stay married for 18 years as of today. I have a sneaking suspicion it's been easier for me than for her.
Happy Anniversary to Betsy and DR JMK!
Nice new avatar, Ginny.
Is it because she doesn't read your posts, either? ;)
And congratulations.
Nice new avatar, Ginny.
Thanks, DR John G!
-
Greetings from Toyland! I suspect the visit was a needless trip, so I'll be heading back uptown very shortly.
-
Yes, lovely new avatar DR GINNY.
DR ELMORE - the right person is out there....as they say.
Continued vibes for the mother of DR DtM.
Happy Anniversary to Betsy and DR JMK!
Yes, best wishes from us as well!
After viewing this production I felt it was like seeing it for the first time. I saw the equity tour without the elaborate NYC sets. I have practically no memory of this theater going experience.
Because it SUCKED!!!!! Well, that's not totally true - it was sung well. But the physical production was SO bad. I saw it twice, once in LA (special trip just to see it) and once in SF. Same production. I loved the score, I think I just closed my eyes LOL
-
Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs DR JMK......we need to see a wedding photo.
I tend to agree. I liked the idea of not showing the ship during the song where they board. And I love most of the music, but I remember a few really cheap moments, one that looked like black garbage bags being used for water at night. Another was of the tiny boat sinking.
But I also remember a sea of beautiful voices, especially in "Ladies' Maid."
-
TOD: Mashed potatoes....with cheese, or sour cream and chives or garlic and butter. Jello. Pork and beans. Or baked beans. Or beans and franks (cut the franks up so you dn't have to chew very much).
Pancakes or waffles.
Any number of egg dishes...omelettes, fried, scrambled, souffle.
-
This past weekend's ABC miniseries "Titanic" was a disappointment. Too much of a cliched ripoff of Cameron's film...dull characterizations...give me the 1953 version any day for a fictional story melded with factual presentation of the dramatic story.
As good as "A Night to Remember" is, I've always found it a bit "dry".
-
TOD: Jello instant fat free, sugar free pudding.
Oh, yes....PUDDING....mustn't leave out PUDDING!!!
-
And, of course, for variety, I added GRITS to my soft foods menu a couple of years ago after LANAPP surgery.
But I'm thinking you don't do grits. ;)
However, rice....specifically risotto in its various guises/flavors can be a wonderful treat.
-
The TITANIC musical score was not my cup of tea.
-
I entirely skipped the miniseries this weekend. Saturday night my sister and I opted to watch GREAT EXPECTATIONS which I had DVR'ed. I enjoyed Gillian Anderson's creepy performance but she was *not* playing Miss Havisham (more like a less lucid Ghost of Christmas Past.) Overall, I found it way too emo in tone--hard as it is to imagine, but they managed to suck the joy out of the book for this adaption.
-
And Ditto Happy Anniversary wishes for DR JMK and Betsy!
I enjoyed the first half very much. But the second half was too dreary for words. The adult Pip was BORING and uninvolving and dull. Whoever cast him did it for looks, not talent.
Agree partly on Gillian Anderson. She was a bit too young in appearance, and seemed less like Miss Havisham and more like what you suggested..."the ghost of Christmas day before yesterday". They needed a Martita Hunt!!!
-
Thanks for the wishes.
Speaking of TITANIC the musical, I'm listening to DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY and I must say I'm prone to saying it's another unmitigated disaster. I actually like a lot of the music, but, oy, Yeston's lyrics are pretty lame at times.
Thanks. I think I'll skip it. After the horrible Ethan Hawke-Gwyneth Paltrow version, I'm leery of any adaptation of that.
Need anyone say more? (Thankfully, that line was deleted from the movie.)
Yes, the first half was very good but it didn't hold up after that and Estella was just..... wrong.
BK, as I walked up to my apartment building, there was a middleaged gent leaving it. He looked familiar but I couldn't place him. He recognized me at once. It was Ray Marchica. He's playing a jazz date with my neighbor Mark Soskin.
Mike, I think that that's the region 2 version that I was able to <ahem> "acquire" (download) and burn to a DVD. Even though I burned it on a regular (US) blank DVD, it still plays as a region 2 DVD.
The one-note role was as obnoxious as Hyacinth Bucket and went on far too long. There were characters that could have been developed a little more by cutting her part back.
Don't much like Titanic The Musical myself....although I enjoyed some of it.....haven't listened to the CD for many years.....
Just never understood the NEED for a musical on the subject since stage technology would always limit the visuals.....even if the production is at its most lavish.
DR Ginny I also like your new avatar very much.
I think NUDE opera is more enjoyable....well....SOME nude opera.
The sad thing about Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham is that Martita Hunt may be definitive! It's like Edith Evans and Lady Bracknell.
Martita Hunt Is Definitive is the title of my new novella.
Oy! It never is dull here. New World Records just contacted me. They want to release EILEEN in September, so I have until June 25 to put together liner notes and type out the libretto. Better then, I guess, than July 25 ot August 25, when I'm returning from Dublin. All I have to do is find the EILEEN materials buried somewhere in this dump.
Nude opera is the only kind I ever listen to.
-
I really must update my avatar. This one is over 15 years old.
-
Not that I have changed in all of those 15 years.
-
Nude opera is the only kind I ever listen to.
I agree.
-
Back from a good lunch meeting and picking up one package. Must now do some work.
-
Writing vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
The fact that MBarnum is *listening* to nude opera rather than *watching* it is perhaps the most salient piece of information about his behavior he has ever passed on to us. ;D
-
Finished the liner notes - I actually found the composer's website (who knew he was even still with us?) and have written him, just to see if he'd give me a few lines to include in our booklet. He's got to be in his late 70s by now, so I hope he'll not be too cantankerous and will do it.
Yard has been barked and my arms are red - hello spring!!! I'll take a picture soon
What about signed booklets??
Who knows? It would depend on where he lives.
Happy anniversary to DR JMK and his wife!
-
Nice new avatar, Ginny.
I entirely skipped the miniseries this weekend. Saturday night my sister and I opted to watch GREAT EXPECTATIONS which I had DVR'ed. I enjoyed Gillian Anderson's creepy performance but she was *not* playing Miss Havisham (more like a less lucid Ghost of Christmas Past.) Overall, I found it way too emo in tone--hard as it is to imagine, but they managed to suck the joy out of the book for this adaption.
I enjoyed the first half very much. But the second half was too dreary for words. The adult Pip was BORING and uninvolving and dull. Whoever cast him did it for looks, not talent.
Agree partly on Gillian Anderson. She was a bit too young in appearance, and seemed less like Miss Havisham and more like what you suggested..."the ghost of Christmas day before yesterday". They needed a Martita Hunt!!!
I had heard this was excellent & that I should watch it. I had my doubts about Anderson as Miss Havisham. I think I'll pass on this, at least for now.
Anderson was absolutely stunning in the BBC version of BLEAK HOUSE.
Yes she was.
You really haven't.
Heard back from the composer, who unfortunately for me is not THE composer I was looking for, but someone who is also a composer/musical supervisor with the same name. However, further Google search led me to find that the composer I want is now teaching at a college - I found the college, the faculty directory, and now I've written him at the e-mail address listed there. Since it's not in this country, we'll see how this all pans out.
-
Well, James Cleverton is out. He's committed to the Buxton Gilbert & Sullivan Festival until August 18, the first day of our recording. I hope to hell Richard Morrison is available or we are back to goddam proverbial square one. If I were his agent, I'd try to get him out of the Buxton dates to record, but who knows which pays better?
It is raining here. I was lucky it only rained on & off while I was walking to various shops. Just as I returned to pick up my car it began raining heavily.
Happy Anniversary to DR JMK and Betsy!
Taxes finished--a day early!
-
In HHW fashion, I'm hereby reporting that I did laundry today.
-
DR TCB did you ever put your name in for the service that will drive you to appointments?
I expect to finish mine tonight....after my Condo Home Owner's Association meeting in about 20 minutes. So, I'm off.
Be back later!
Well, the chiropractor was honest enough to tell my Mother that nothing she (the chiro) could do would really help her. She did tell Mom that the best thing she can do is to keep moving and if that requires using her walker at all times that's what she should do. According to the x-rays, Mom's right hip should be replaced, but her age and respiratory condition make her NOT a candidate for that. She took it all pretty well and we went on to an open house hosted by a friend who sells Longaberger Baskets
-
Thank you, DRs JRand, George, and Jane for the nice comments about my new avatar. It's cropped from the picture I posted yesterday.
-
I just finished watching THE DESCENDANTS. Kind of tough to watch after what we went through with Richard's brother's family 3 years ago. Not going to recommend it to Lauren and her mom...
At least she won't wonder if there is something to be done. Might a physiatrists (pain doctor) help? Bryan suggested look into seeing one. I know of one in town but I know I don't want to see him.
I didn't make the connection when I watched it.
Sorry for being absent today. I have been feeling a bit under the weather.
Hopefully, back in the morning,
-
G'night!
-
DR TCB wishes you feel better tomorrow.
-
'night
-
Vibes for TCB.
The bird is not letting me work on my paper, so I'm going to sleep. Night, all.
Vibes for TCB.
From me, too!
'night!
-
Hope you feel better soon, TCB.
-
Back from A New Brain. I think I'll have some ice cream now.
-
What is this page five malarky?
-
Hmmm, quiet night around here...
-
Ice cream sounds good...
-
So sad to be all alone in the world
-
~~~~~~~VIBES FOR TCB~~~~~~~~

Can everyone be asleep already?

TOTD - I am very fond of rice pudding, but the good baked kind, not the overly sweet soupy kind usually found in supermarkets.
-
Not that I have changed in all of those 15 years.
You really haven't.
Nope, not a bit!
-
TOD - broiled, baked, or poached fish. Not fried - the coating may be too crunchy.
What is it, fish?
-
Jed and I were just discussing the BK-isms that have made their way permanently into our vernacular, even though we are rarely seen in these parts. Both of us often use "like so much fish" in conversation, which generally puzzles anyone who we happen to be with at the time. Strange how these things simply become part of your vocabulary after so many years.
-
Hey, I got us to page 6! Hurray.
-
Ice cream sounds good...
I just had some. It was very good. :D
-
Our homeowner's association meeting went well. It turns out that we only have two buildings in our complex that need new roofs, then they're all finished.
-
Hi, Ann! How's Jed doing?
-
Ann, it's very sad here at haineshisway.com at night. Nothing but WUSSBURGERS these days. It used to be quite lively here, but, as people grow OLDER they become less lively and sticks in the mud - we still love them, oh, yes, we still love them, despite this.
-
George - Jed is very well! I don't know if you saw it in my post last night, it was rather buried, but Jed just got cast in Form at the Lakewood Playhouse. I believe you know a few of the people in it, they seem to be Olympia folk. Anyway, he's excited to be starting rehearsals for that soon.

Ah, I remember the early days of HHW, where the sparkling posts would sometimes continue into the wee hours of the morning. But we were all younger then, I suppose...
-
I am still young, even at my age. I flit, I float, like a lonely goatherd. I do the Lambada (The Forbidden Dance), but alone, where once we had flitters and floaters and people dancing in their homes. Time marches on, I suppose, but I will not give in.

I did see that...do you know when it opens? And I can't remember if you said who's putting it on.
I obviously didn't pay attention to your post very closely. ::)
;)
-
I want to come up to Portland or wherever and do a signing for the new book - maybe I'll ask JMK to look into it.
-
Back from rehearsal. Body is not happy. Arms are like lobsters and muscles, while happy they were worked, are sore.
I'm heading to the couch to sit like so much fish for some viewing entertainment. Then to bed.
-
You are indeed forever young, dear BK. You shall be dancing the Lambada for many many years to come.
I was just down in Portland a few weeks ago, such a lovely city. You should come and visit, BK.

Opens in June, I believe. Does the name Chris Cantrell ring a bell? He's in it, and I believe he works a lot with TAO.

I do know Chris! We've been in several shows together and I went to his wedding last year. :D

I thought you might :) He and Jed just worked together in Farnsworth Invention, also at the Lakewood Playhouse. Seems like a great guy.

I don't know that he's ever been in a musical before...at least, not that I'd ever heard.

Well, I have filed my income tax return.
Now...I wait. I got the automatically generated e-mail that it was received, but I won't know for 24-48 hours if it was actually accepted, and then I'll find out when I'll get my actual refund.
