We had a very nice salmon, wild rice and green bean dinner for Easter. No piggies were killed. No peeps were eaten either although I must say we both (Ant and I) love peeps.

Ah, my kind of meal. I looovvvee salmon. But I've never cared for peeps. You can pass me the See's, thank you.

Well, may I wish a VERY HAPPY EASTER and a WONDERFUL PASSOVER to all of the lovely and studly DRs here in the Living Room.

We had a nice "family get-together" lunch today at a pleasant restaurant with a nice patio for sitting outside.  The highpoint of the lunch, was finding out that a family member is pregnant, and she and her fiance are planning to get married sometime in the near future.  It is something that she has wanted for quite awhile now, and so I'm very happy for her!!  She is also an incredibly sweet, smart, and witty girl, and also a schoolteacher.

Jose.... you are in big trouble when I'm in NYC !  But only in a good way.

And so for now, I'm going to watch a show, and then have an early evening.  I will be re-vitalized for the upcoming week, and so I will exude masculine energy and swarthy testosterone !

I spent my late morning/early afternoon watching the DVD of "Easter Parade", including all the extras.

That DVD is spectacular, by the way...with vivid colors.

Favorite SOUND OF MUSIC moment: in the graveyard when Gretyl asks, "Would it help if we sing about our favorite things?" In the midst of that tense situation, that always makes me laugh.

My favorite "Sound of Music" moment is the section when the movie opens over cloud-draped mountaintops through the family's hiking up into the mountains at the film's conclusion.

A PERFECT movie treat, IMO.

I began my evening with the Blu-ray disc of BULLITT. It looked very nice and put my SD copy of BULLITT to shame. The car chase remains a great stunt sequence, but I've always though the chase at the airport was not the film's finest hour. Still, glad to have this film looking so good.

I also watched EASTER PARADE, at least as much of it as I could get to before my evening TV programs began.

I got to Judy's test to see if she could attract attention before I stopped the film.

I agree with DR Ron Pulliam. I thought the film looked lush and beautiful. The first time I watched this, I think I was a little disapppointed in the transfer, but watching it today, there is nothing to be disappointed about. Of course, I've recalibrated my TV since the last time I watched it, so that may have had something to do with its looking so gorgeous this evening.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES had some fun with the various ladies tonight, one of the more comic episodes in this year's line-up. Nice to see Paxton Whitehead and Lynn Redgrave as Ian's parents.

(Gaby "stealing" the dresses was a little much, I thought.)

BROTHERS & SISTERS had an involving episode, too. It brought some relationships to an end and began anew with some others. Good show, but I didn't quite get Kevin's hot and cold behavior with Chad.

If I had to pick only one scene from SOM to watch -- although I can't imagine being faced with such a dilemma -- it would be the sequence following "My Favorite Things" as Maria takes the kids around Salzburn and environs dressed in their "new" playclothes.

I'll have five hours of shows recorded tonight to watch over the next few days. I have another Criterion disc I have to get to - La HAINE tomorrow.

And, of course, there are a good many new shows on tomorrow night as well. Just not enough hours in the day!

And, yes, as DR singdaw mentioned previously, I ended up a might busier tonight than originally planned.  Originally, I was just supposed to be off today, and observer, but since there was some work that needed to be done... I did some of it.  And then since Mr. Kander's music assistant is playing in the pit of the show, he had no one to take notes for him during the run of the show.  So, with pen and paper in hand...

...And I will be back on Tuesday... Thank you, Mr. Kander.  :)
