Well, you've read the notes, the notes were almost notes, and now it is time for you to post until the noted cows come home.

And the word of the day is: RECHERCHE!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to our very own Miss Adriana Patti!! ;D
And Congrats on surviving your teen years!! ;)

And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Happy Happy Birthday, DR Adriana Patti!!
I hope you have a tasty CAKE today!
-
I'm finding it difficult to keep Ye Olde Eyes open.
-
I am home after a whirlwind weekend in Las Vegas. I spent a lovely few hours with DR DakotaCelt and her DBF.
A friend from church who is a recent widow went with me. It did her good to get away for a weekend.
-
I'm finding it difficult to keep Ye Olde Eyes open.
Me too. Except that I had coffee in Wickieup.

Here is what Louis Herthum is looking like these days:
(http://www.louisianastunts.com/Louis.jpg)

Never heard of Herthum. ::)
;)
-
Oh, how soon I forget. :P TCB just mentioned that he was on "Murder She Wrote."
-
He's certainly not unattractive. :)
-
I had coffee in Wickieup.
A great title for a new novel! :)
-
You have my sympathy, DR George...I hate memorizing!?!
-
DearReaderLaura DR - I am very glad to hear that you have returned home safely.

Happy happy birthday to Adriana!!!

Happy 20th Birthday to DR ADRIANNA PATTI

Lovely bird photos yesterday from DR TOMovOZ!
And DR GEORGE your new avatar shows a slimmer you!
DR TCB....I ain't the Oil of Nuttin'.....although Gene Chandler, The Duke of Earl does live in Indianapolis....
-
Very warm spring day today, car goes into the shop tomorrow, so I am not going to drive it today....so here I am stuck at home. Oh well.
Maybe the mail will bring a DVD or two. I have been listening to "The Good German" soundtrack purchased here at HHW.....very nice score. I have not seen the movie, it seems to be an unnecessary conceit, but I like the score.
-
I do not have a favorite JukeBox Musical OR a favorite musical made from a movie musical.....I don't like either genre....and they ALL get onto my LAST nerve.....
Says someone who is on the board of a group doing both FOOTLOOSE and SINGIN' IN THE RAIN this summer.....against my vote to be sure.

DR JRand57 - with your car off limits, perhaps you can take the trolley.

Thank you.

Good morning, all! The first quarter of 2008 has been awful! I feel that I've won the bed bug battle but it's depleted my bank account. Now I hear the building's under attack from bird mites as well, and I'm praying to God they don't decide this apartment would be a nice place to roost.
Then there's the current bank problem: my checkcard has now expired. I got a notice from the bank 6 weeks ago that the new card was being sent, and last week I got a letter from them with the new PIN, which I've lost. Still, no card and I'm unhappy about it. Every company who does online payments is besieging me with requests for a new card number. The whole megillah has me so exhausted that I'm thinking any place but here would be a good place to be.
Off to Toyland for a while but first a stop to yell at my bank manager. Oy!

LOL....that reminds me of one of my favorite exchanges in WHITE CHRISTMAS:
Bing to Danny: Oh you mean like that rocket scientist out there.....
Danny: All right, so she isn't smart. So she didn't go to Smith.
Bing: Go to Smith? She couldn't even spell it! And another thing. What's with you. For the past six months you've been trying to set me up with every female you can. As long as it's wearing a skirt and a little mascara, you shove it at me.

TOD:
I'm not even sure that it counts, but Smokey Joe's Cafe is just about the only jukebox musical that works for me: rather than shoehorning the songs around the plot, the writers simply played the show as more of a revue, allowing the songs themselves to suggest their dramatic nature.
I would have loved to see what Harry Chapin would have done with his "Last Protest Singer" project, although I suspect that it wouldn't have gone too far.
Other musicians whose work I'd love to see staged in some form: Rush (I can't be the ONLY person who wants to see someone do "2112" on stage, can I? Okay, maybe I can), Pete Seeger.
And I can't believe that I'm going to admit this in public, but I bet you could make a pretty good staging from Madonna's catalog... (as the last two people on earth who believed that I was straight slink away shaking their heads)

Here is what Louis Herthum is looking like these days:
(http://www.louisianastunts.com/Louis.jpg)
Just as appealing as ever to my way of looking at things.
-
DR ELAN do you really really REALLY want a Broadway of shows attended by ENTIRE audiences wearing t-shirts?
Although I might see the Pete Seeger one.

Good morning!
We're in for a nice late spring day (and it isn't even spring, A Richard Rodgers/Oscar Hammerstein reference) with highs in the 70s. Wow!
-
Bank vibes for DR ELMORE. I too am waiting for something in the mail, but it is a copy of THE THING THAT WOULDN'T DIE....not anything as important as a Bank Card.
It didn't come today.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Adriana Patti!!
-
I think THE BOY FROM OZ and MAMMA MIA work as entertainments but certainly the scores don't always fit snugly like an original score would do. They're about the most entertaining shows I've seen that would be called jukebox musicals. Entertaining but not great musicals.
JERSEY BOYS seems to be a mammoth hit, but do they try to work those songs in for dramatic purposes? I haven't seen it, so I'm just speculating that they don't.
-
DR ELAN do you really really REALLY want a Broadway of shows attended by ENTIRE audiences wearing t-shirts?
As long as they're well-behaved and remembered to shower, I've got no problem with that (I don't think that I need two hands to count the number of times I've worn a tie to the theater).
-
TV Reminder:
Two hour season (series?) finale to THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES tonight.
New MEDIUM tonight! Can't wait! Duvalos returns!
-
I do believe I'll be venturing onto my roof for some clean-up later today (after I return from lunch with best friend John). This may curtail my afternoon viewing a bit, but that will also depend on what comes in the mail.
-
Boy From Oz worked because you had the single most charismatic leading man Broadway's seen in three decades working his behind off to sell a bunch of hackneyed numbers to appreciative yentas in the first five rows. (I, of course, was glad to finally hear the opening number from Legs Diamond without having to shell out for the cast recording, but that's just me...)
-
Monday morning greetings!
Wow - HHW is really widescreen right now.
-
My bank card expires in October of this year. Usually by this point I would have received a replacement with a two year extension or something. I've heard nothing about it from my bank. Very strange.
-
Happiest of birthdays to no-longer-a-teenager DR Adrianna Patti!
-

Part of it IS just you, DR Elan. For me, seeing a gay love story told in a musical (even as splintered as it was handled in BOY FROM OZ) was just as important as seeing Hugh Jackman's tour de force. I would have EAGERLY gone to the show even if Kevin Spirtas had gotten to go on.

Today is my day off, because this is a Tuesday-Saturday work week.

DR Elmore - I was going to suggest that maybe you needed a trip to Ohio for some pampering from your sister-in-law Jo and from your friends. However, after reading the front-page
HEADLINE (http://www.middletownjournal.com/n/content/oh/story/news/local/2008/03/02/mj030308bedbugs.html)
on this morning's Middletown Journal, I'll just send some {{{{{HUGS}}}}} instead.

Today is MONDAY.

Not to throw down a gauntlet here, but if you're looking for well-told gay love stories in a musical, I'd think of La Cage, Rent, Falsettos, or even in many ways Kiss of the Spider Woman before I'd think of Oz.
But hey, to each his own, and I've seen a lot worse than Oz in my lifetime...

And the word of the day is: RECHERCHE!

DR TCB....I ain't the Oil of Nuttin'.....although Gene Chandler, The Duke of Earl does live in Indianapolis....
I thought TCB had a great idea--you ought to be the Earl of Indianapolis! I mean, does anyone else hold that title? See, it's vacant. And I can't think of a better candidate!
-
It almost looks like one of them is wearing a tool necklace.
Not many people know that the original, discarded title of the song, "Chain of Fools" was actually "Necklace of Tools."

Or, in DR FJL's case, the Cheeky Cheeky Room! ;)
;D ;D

Happy birthday to DR Adriana.

But hey, to each his own, and I've seen a lot worse than Oz in my lifetime...
So we have six gay musical love stories in the space of, what, THIRTY years. The point I was trying to make is that they are few and far between and when one hungers to see his orientation portrayed onstage, he will look forward EAGERLY to representations of same even in musicals that are not top flight.
-
And now I must head downstairs to clean up for lunch out later.
WBBL.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I guess I needed 12 hours of sleep last night. ???

Matt, I know you write reviews, but have you ever turned your hand to fiction or screenplays? You certainly know a lot about movies; maybe others would enjoy the same stories for which you hunger. (Notice my correct grammar for the former English teacher. ;) )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR ADRIANA PATTI!!!!!

I would LOVE 12 hours of sleep! I don't think that's happened since I turned twenty.

DR DearReaderLaura - Welcome Home!

Hugs to Larry. You must be really stressed out at this point. I do hope that things start looking up for you.

DR elmore - Check your junk mail - if you have any junk mail lying around. My bank card expired this month too, and I thought I had not yet received it. Well... I remembered that the banks usually send out the replacement cards in unmarked envelopes, so I went through my "to be recycled" mail pile, and started feeling the envelopes for a card, and sure enough, it was already in the pile. In any case...
I hope your bank issues are resolved sooner than later.
-
I have a "thing" for British men.
Well, for men. :P
Yeah, me too.
-
Bank card and all around general vibes for DR Elmore!
While I’m at it, continued vibes for DR Kerry and DR TCB!

Awwww... Now that's a good Oreo cookie commercial! :)

TOD: Jukebox musicals are great for all those people who think they don't like musicals and all the straight guys who get dragged to them!
I will say, however, that "Smokey Joe's Cafe" was extremely well done. Most of the time, however, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with enough decent material.
-
I actually think DR MBarnum would like The Beebo Brinker Chronicles (http://www.beebobrinker.com/)... And probably a couple of other DRs. :)
-
A Very Happy Birthday to our very own Miss Adriana Patti!! ;D
And Congrats on surviving your teen years!! ;)
Don't believe him, Adriana. No one ever quite survives their teen years.
But welcome to your twenties!
-
DR MBarnum - Are you sure you don't want to head out to NYC this month?
Brooklyn Maqam Arab Music Festival (http://www.brooklynartscouncil.org/documents/64)
-
...and some DRs would like the DRs that like The Beebo Brinker Chronicles.
I'm just sayin'. ;)

TOD:
I'd love a jukebox musical full of the songs of Dorothy Fields. Probably as a light bio of Ms. Fields, just to have a framework.
Heck, I'd love to have a jukebox full of the songs of Dorothy Fields. One of those Wurlitzer things, with the bubbles and lights.
-
I like all the avatars I've seen of you, George. You always seem to be smiling and just look like a pleasant fellow!
-
I would love a jukebox musical about the life of Mrs. Fields.
Just imagine the production numbers...a chorus line of dancing cookies!

Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day? I am up after a decent night's sleep and shortly I shall have to do a couple of errands.
-
The birthday girl was here yesterday, making sure all the blocking was correct between all the various Brain scripts so we go into rehearsal with a completely up to date correct script, blocking-wise. Here's a funny story - she's using Ye Olde Computer and I guess she goes to check her e-mail at gmail. She asks me if I know someone's name who sent her an e-mail. I say yes - she says she has no idea why she's on this person's list. Then she says dear reader Jeanne sent her an e-mail. I say, really? It never occurs to me that she hasn't logged out of MY gmail account before logging into hers - so she answers several of MY e-mails to people she doesn't really even know. That's funny.
-
Oops!

so she answers several of MY e-mails to people she doesn't really even know.
The recipients probably just thought you were on PaxilTM.

I'm also the sister of a doctor. Unfortunately the science genes completely missed me.

so she answers several of MY e-mails to people she doesn't really even know. That's funny.

Me? Pictures?

"Singin' In the Rain"....the ORIGINAL Jukebox musical! :D
There will be NO mocking of "Singin' in the Rain" in my presence, thankyewverymuch... it was the first stage show I ever saw, and my siblings and I spent the next weeks bantering back and forth in our best nasal voices: "and I can't stand him!" "caaahhnt!" "caaaant!")
That being said, I'd probably mock the show if I saw it today... *sigh* to paraphrase Terry Pratchett: It's not that I wish that I knew then what I know now; I wish that I didn't know now what I didn't know then...
-
I don't think I like any jukebox shows. It seems they just don't want to write any music. And the songs don't seem to fit the story.
-
Now I should go for a loooong walk, to burn up some of that buffet food.
-
I'm off for a walk too.
-
Lunch time!
-
I've a red shirt that must be worn.

Back from first errands and shall now work on a lyric, and make a few telephonic calls, and package up two orders.

Veggie dogs? You sure know how to ruin my appetite!
Great! I'll talk about all my weird vegetarian combinations from now on.
-
I was fortunate to have seen SINGIN' IN THE RAIN onstage in London, where it met with a bit more success IIRC than it did in NY. It was exciting to see Tommy Steele (sp?) live.

DR FJL - do you know if that production debuted in London after the NY production had closed? Just curious.
-
I saw it in NY with Don Correia.

This is kind of cool!

Yes, I saw it in London, also. I enjoyed seeing Tommy Steele, but it certainly didn't seem like I watching a brand new musical. Half of us in the audience were saying the lines along with the actors.
-
DR FJL - do you know if that production debuted in London after the NY production had closed? Just curious.
No, I believe it played in London first.
-
I saw SINGIN' IN THE RAIN in April, 1984. I think it opened a year later in New York.

SORT OF TOD
I would like to give Madame Armfeldt a second solo in Act 2. I would like to interpolate the song I Never Do Anything Twice. I could work for her. I don't know where I'd put it though.
-
I feel like I'm in a foreign forum. I barely recognize ANY of you people.
-
TCB, what happened to the back of your head in your avatar?
-
Matt, I know you write reviews, but have you ever turned your hand to fiction or screenplays? You certainly know a lot about movies; maybe others would enjoy the same stories for which you hunger. (Notice my correct grammar for the former English teacher. ;) )
How nice of you to suggest that, DR Jeanne. I have tried writing fiction on a couple of occasions and didn't feel I had a knack for it. I wish I did have talents along those lines.
-
I saw the national tour of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, and I just couldn't enjoy it. The numbers on stage lack (of necessity) that cinematic sweep that lifts them to a higher plane. (The actors don't get multiple takes to make the tricks more stupendous either.)
It felt small despite the talent and hard work of everyone on stage.
-
I like your new avatar, too, DR George. I'm sure it will make a grand head shot for the program as well.
-
Lunch ran long (partly my fault: I had some shopping to do at Target which was in the same shopping center where we had lunch.)
-
When I got back, I immediately changed to shorts and a t-shirt and climbed on the roof to clean off leaves and pine needles from last fall. I cleaned a few gutters, but I still have four sections of gutters around the house I didn't get to and will have to do later.
-
TCB, what happened to the back of your head in your avatar?
I don't really know. Ask DR George, he cropped the avatar.
-
I did get all the review copy DVDs I was expecting, so I spent the remainder of the afternoon watching 101 DALMATIANS. This is BY FAR the best it's ever looked on home video, and the new enhanced theater mix (Dolby 5.1) soundtrack is beautifully realized. Some remnants of the original mono are still there with dog barks in the distance still coming from the center rather than one of the surround speakers, but it's still quite enveloping, and they've pumped up the music score to make it quite enveloping with very nice bass.
Another feature on disc one is that you can turn on two different sets of pop-up facts to play while the movie runs. Nice to see which editor supervised which sequence, some tidbits of trivia about the various voice actors and their other work for Disney, etc. There's still a music video on disc one, and then I'll move on to disc 2 this evening.
-
Mm, veggie dogs with melted provolone cheese in a giant Trader Joe's tortilla.
My choice of veggie dogs are Leanies, best on Challah. :)
-
Oh, if you'd rather hear the original mono track of DALMATIANS, it's on there, too. Very considerate to have it as some people are purists and would prefer the original mono mix.

Lasagna is assembled and "resting" in the fridge. My least favorite way to do this dish is to proceed from step 1 to sitting down to eat in one sweeping movement. When I do that, by the time we sit down to eat, I don't even want to look at it. This way, I get to "rest," too, before proceeding with the next step (baking, which is the easy part). My absolute favorite way to do lasagna is to assemble it, freeze it, and forget about it for a few days. Then - VOILA! - it's like a gift.
-
I saw SINGIN' IN THE RAIN in London in November 1989. I'm not sure whether it was the production TCB saw still running or if it was a return engagement. It was at the Palladium.
-
Hooray! Hooray!! Hooray!!!
SUPERNATURAL has been renewed for its fourth season by the CW network! Also renewed were SMALLVILLE (a no-brainer; it's their highest rated series), ONE TREE HILL, GOSSIP GIRL, and NEXT TOP MODEL.
-
I seem to have picked up the same congested head that DR Ginny had, so I may be steaming my head over a pot of oatmeal today!
Oh, DR Jeanne, I'm so sorry to hear this! I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have to give in and go to the doctor.
Did the oatmeal help? Feel better soon!

It must have been a return engagement. I can't imagine Tommy Steele playing it for five years. I also saw it at the Palladium.

Back from Fed Ex to find my new bank card. I am up and running again. I also sent off the orchestrations to Mr Cassidy and the Lyric Stage in Texas. Now, to deal with the landlord and the mite problem.

I don't know from the TOD.

Good grief! I knew that Rufus had released a CD of his Judy Garland tribute at Carnegie Hall, but I didn't realize, until today, that he had also released a CD of his London Palladium Judy concert.

Is he also planning a Rufus at the Palace CD?

TCB still does, Joanne. :D
-
Actually, TCB's wearing a hat.
It's totally not apparent it's a hat, because he seems silhouetted in black. The crop, if that's what made the hat disappear, makes it look as if DR TCB was the victim of The Brainstealer from Planet X. ;)
-
Finally finished the lyric I'd been struggling with and it's pretty good now - focused and to the point with a build.
-
Then I did a bunch of errands and now I can relax for a little while before starting on the next lyric redo (only two to go).

focused and to the point with a build.
There are too many flabby lyrics about...I like my lyric to have a build. ;)

DR George - the Rufus London concert is a DVD. It was released the same day as the Carnegie CD.

Thank you, Ginny. Actually, I'm taking the homoepathic Arsenicum. I expect it'll pass soon.
Let me get this straight...you, Jeanne, are taking the homoepathic Arsenicum?

DR Ron Pulliam - I had not noticed DR TCB's avatar "conehead" effect until you pointed it out. I still like the picture, though.

That's what comes from reading the posts without being logged in; I don't realize how much I rely on the avatars to keep track of who said what!

Of course, I could just chalk it up to:

But then that really wouldn't make much sense.

Same show, different avatar.

Of course, that's never stopped me before.

Oh, I really like that one, DR TCB! :)

It's crazy here this afternoon!
First there were too many phone calls between me, the Lyric Stage, and the NYC Gay Men's Chorus office about the Lyric Stage renting my orchesration of "New York New York." Then Mr Patrick Cassidy and Jason Graae called me about one more orchestration for Patrick and his brother David Cassidy. He'll shortly send me the pdf files and I'll work on it tomorrow. And in the middle of all that, Mr Ron Raines called about a CD of "Lazy Afternoon" for Charlotte.
It's time for my nap.

From DerBrucer:Cuz it sounds stupid-LOL. The opening scene sounds more like a medical show, and I am the daughter of a doctor.
Are you making this show up?
No, dear heart, 'tis real!
Fox brings the ever-tasteful Farrelly brothers to the small screen with UNHITCHED.
Craig Bierko (Gator) is one a date with a lass with a facination for jungle animals - she begs Gator to take her like a Silver Back. Gator obliges and we have a lovely rear shot of the activity. Her pet orangutan gets excited by the view, drops his trousers (with pixelated censoring added) and leaps upon poor Gator. Cut to next scene - Gator is on his belly with his lower torso draped with a sheet. Dr. Bill (Shaun Majumder) is seen frequently ducking in and out as he diagnoses, and then stitches up the near miss.
I'm sure watching this show will bring back fine familial memories ;D

But I truly think I missed someting spectacular.

Great Avatar George!

I've been irritated at a lot of things lately. Today when I went to work Martha/Edith was there and said "I have the flu" I responded "So what on earth are you doing here!" She stayed all morning then went to her second job, a job she wants to quit. Suddenly she's back and telling me that she had been throwing up and had to leave "So what are you doing here!" I said again. OY!
-
Then she decided she was going to quit her other job and found another lawyer to work for, but he also wanted her to work in the morning so she told me she'd work for me in the afternoon. What!? I said, "so what if afternoons doesn't work out for me, I guess I'll have to hire someone else." I don't think she liked that. The next thing I know she's back for a third time telling me the other lawyer found a full time person and doesn't need her, so she'll still work in the morning for me. Gee thanks.

And all the TV news wants to prattle about is if and when Hillary should quit.

OK, I give up. Just called my boss and told her I won't be in tomorrow. I already have an appointment scheduled late in the afternoon with an orthopedist about a foot problem, so will try to get an earlier app't with our family doc about this cough and stuffy head.

Beautiful pics Laura!
It was a blast meeting DR Laura, lovely person!

Good Evening!
-I'm still in "cuteness shock" from one eight-year old boy who came in today. He came into the room very "boyish" - sort of rough and tumble, a little bored, disinterested - then once he started singing... WOW! He became a totally different person. -And he sang like a dream too! Then he read the scene, and... WOW! :)

Happy Birthday Adriana and I hope you have a lovely day!

...And I'm flying back from Chattanooga on Sunday too. -Which means I'll be driving myself crazy Saturday night and Sunday morning wondering if I've already set my watch ahead... And since I'm changing time zones too... OY!

Back from more errands - returned to some news that could be potentially good, and some news that most definitely was not so good, which I'll now have to deal with.

Of course, in addition to my doctor's appointments tomorrow, I'll have to VOTE! Just today, we've had phone calls from Cindy McCain, John Boehner (our Congressional rep), State Treasurer Cordray, someone on behalf of Hillary Clinton, and someone else on behalf of Barack Obama.
Here's my favorite editorial cartoon from this election, from Mike Peters of the Dayton Daily News:

I've been irritated at a lot of things lately. Today when I went to work Martha/Edith was there and said "I have the flu" I responded "So what on earth are you doing here!" She stayed all morning then went to her second job, a job she wants to quit. Suddenly she's back and telling me that she had been throwing up and had to leave "So what are you doing here!" I said again. OY!
Stay well vibes, and I hope you can hire Martha/Edith full time soon.
-

Let's just say that Richard and I will probably cancel each other out - we usually do!
-
I'm watching 20/20 about the royal family. I do enjoy Queen Elizabeth.
-
Cilla, I should have kept reading. Aside from today are you still happy with Martha/Edith?
-

LOL, fair enough. That's what happens in my family. I'll never forget when mom voted for Bush1, I voted for Clinton and my dad voted for Perot. We could have all three stayed home for all the difference it made, but if you don't vote you can't complain!
-
I am not sure that mine looks good. It is just a reminder of how I would look if I didn't take Minoxidil on a daily basis.
;D
You look very nice in your new avatar.
-
I have read some but not all...
Thank you all for the nice words... It is lovely here with the warm weather and all...
Warm ... It is nice not to have to wear umpteen number layers of clothes...

Yes you can...that doesn't stop some people I know. ::)
;)
-
Dear Reader Laura, I believe you could take a photo of the city dump, and make it an artistic masterpiece.
;D It wouldn't surprise me either.
-
Well, I'm off. Time for dinner then rehearsal. Until later!
-
Cilla, I should have kept reading. Aside from today are you still happy with Martha/Edith?
Yes, I am. I do know that she's worked for a number of people, so I'm beginning to wonder why she just keeps changing jobs. But I'm ok with her so far.
Today just caught me off guard. I did tell her at the end of all of it that maybe we could try 6 hour days for a while (until she finds a different part time job or until I can do full time) 8:00 - 3:00 with an hour for lunch. She seemed to really like that idea, especially for the summer. So, we'll see. I think today really came about because she was really unhappy with her afternoon job and she doesn't think I'm ready for a full time person. That's probably true.
I think we can work this out. She's been a big help to me.

As for dinner tonight... On my way back from the auditions, I thought about picking up something from somewhere in midtown. I didn't end up picking up any dinner-dinner, but I did stop by Amy's Bread for one her delicious Chocolate-Cherry Rolls (it's basically a chocolate/pumpernickel bread with chunks of chocolate and dried cherries), and a Red Velvet Cupcake. -I ate the the Chocolate-Cherry Roll while I was walking up to Columbus Circle.
While I was on the train, I kept wondering about what to make or buy for dinner. When I got out of the subway at 145th, I just headed into Foodtown, picked up a pair of bone-in chicken breasts, then once I got back to the apartment... Preheated the oven to 400... Sliced up an onion and a some garlic and a yellow bell pepper, threw all that into a small roasting pan... Prepped the chicken breasts, seasoned them with salt and pepper and lemon juice, then put them in the pan with the aromatics... Doused it all with a good slosh of olive oil... Put the pan in the oven, and 50 minutes later.... YUM! *And while the chicken was roasting, I warmed up some brown rice and steamed some brussel sprouts.
-And the Red Velvet Cupcake will be dessert! :)
-
...And I have a nice lunch or dinner all set for tomorrow too!
-
I think that this might've been posted before, but click HERE (http://www.break.com/index/confronting_fred_phelps_jr.html) to see Fred Phelps, Jr., being hit on by a male Australian reporter! It's hysterical!! ;D
LOL-Even while I was laughing I was scared someone in the crowd was going to hit him.
-
DR elmore - Did you say "dish"?!?!? Ooohhh!
-
I think today really came about because she was really unhappy with her afternoon job and she doesn't think I'm ready for a full time person. That's probably true.
And she was sick and grumpy. ;D
I hope it continues to work out with Edith. :)

And I was grumpy because she was sick and at the office ;D

Hmm... Just looked at last week's Broadway Grosses (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/115561.html)... Guess I should have, could have seen some shows last week... :-\
-
I'm watching 20/20 about the royal family. I do enjoy Queen Elizabeth.
Thanks for the reminder, DR Cillaliz. I'd seen this advertised last week, but forgot about it. Now, I'm watching, too.
-
No problem Ginny. It's been ok, nothing too exciting. I want to see more of her with the corgi's.
-
Oh, now we get the tour of the palace and how the traditions are passed down. This could be a little more interesting

'night

I just downloaded some pictures from my trip to California. Here I am holding my new niece, Zoey.
-
And here is my sister, Marcelena, with Zoey. We went out to dinner at the restaurant where her fiance works. She was a big hit.

My niece is pretty darn cute.
-
Lovely pics Tpunk!
Going to log off before I get caught
Nighters everyone!
-
And I have to say, my sister was looking pretty awesome for someone who had only given birth 2 weeks before.
-
Here's a picture from my trip to Boston. Cassie and I are relaxing after her 1st birthday party. She felt the need to immediately get out of her party clothes and unwind.
-
Awwwww.
-
It was lovely to meet DR DakotaCelt and her DBF.
My friend and her DBF were both good sports to let DakotaCelt and I visit for a while.
-
I had a highly baby concentrated 2 weeks.
-
Aww, such cute babies. Thanks for sharing, DR TPunk!
-
All the new avatars are making me want to change mine. Can someone with more expertise than I make this the right size?
-
Happy birthday to DR Adriana!!
-
DR TPunk, that will make a bee-yoo-tee-ful avatar. Hope someone can help you. I'll have to find out tomorrow!
'night!

Wonderful new avatars all over the place!
And wonderful baby pics, TPunk!

Back from dinner with a lovely group which included Ann of All That Chat, Dear Diva Milla, Dear Reader Julie, two delightful ladies named Linda, and another equally delightful lady named Barbara.
Tommy Tune happened to be at the next table, and Milla insisted on going over and saying hello while the rest of us were mortified . :) KT Sullivan was also dining at the restaurant, not near us, and at one point Tommy Tune got up and went way out of his way to go over and chat with KT.
Julie had to leave after about 45 minutes (we knew this in advance). She has been on what to me would be overload, co-producing an indie film which has been shooting of late, as well as taking an intensive ten week seminar on being a producer. (Her class tonight was at 7, so she had to leave our fair group around 6:45.)
Then, I returned to my tax returns for a while, and then I came home.

I got all of the 101 DALMATIANS bonuses watched. There were pop up facts on the first disc, very interesting information on the trivia pop-up track. The pop-up track on family stuff was mostly about the writer of the original book - Dodie Smith.
202 pop-ups in all. (101 of each type.)
-
The second disc had a "making of" documentary, dozens of trailers and radio spots, three songs either deleted or unused, alternate takes of the three songs that are in the movie.
Dubber Bill Lee (SOUTH PACIFIC, THE SOUND OF MUSIC among many other films) sang for Ben Wright's Roger, so we got to hear Wright try to sing "Cruella De Vil" and then Lee's several attempts at it, first trying to copy Wright's British accent and then just singing in his own voice.
-
Then I watched THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. A BIG cliffhanger to end the season, but since Fox has said nothing about a pick-up for the show next season, this may be all we get. I'll be interested to see how the ratings are for the show tomorrow.
-
MEDIUM had another interesting episode
spoiler
which had a story that didn't deal in black and white issues and posed some interesting conundrums for Allison. I figured out the Bridgett story before it got to its conclusion, and I was right on the money with it.
-
Going to write some now and then head down to bed.
Good night!
-
All the new avatars are making me want to change mine. Can someone with more expertise than I make this the right size?
Here ya' go, DR TPunk!
-
Hmm... Maybe I should change my avatar too? Hmmm... ;)
-
Oh... I just finished making some cookies. There are two casting agencies that have been very kind to me over the past few weeks, and I just wanted to do something nice for them. So, tomorrow morning, I will be dropping off boxes of Cantuccini and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Pecan Cookies for the various casting agents, casting associates and interns to enjoy with their morning (and possibly afternoon) coffee. :)

Tech Stress and Health Stress Update:
1. I have the worst laryngitis I have ever had in my life, with fever and chills.
2. The left speaker of our new tv broke--3 days after the big 90 day warranty had expired (Funai to their credit may extend it, but I still need to pay the frigging $100 "Diagnostic" charge--I know what's wrong--the speaker broke).
3. Someone cut the main underground phone cable in our neighborhood and we have been without phones/internet all day.
Number 3 is the worst. :)

DR JoseSPiano - when are you flying TO Chattanooga?
For some reason, I'm thinking I haven't answered this question yet, but if I have, I apologize for the redundancy. In any case...
I will be flying to Chattanooga this Wednesday mid-day, and flying back to NYC on Sunday.
I will be attending the annual SouthEastern Theatre Conference Convention (http://www.setc.org). Last year, the convention took place in Atlanta - where I met DR edisaurus and her ever lovin' Greg for the first time! So, another, give or take, 900 auditions to play.
This is my second time back in Chattanooga with this convention, and, frankly, I'm not too excited about some of the dining options within walking distance of the convention hotel. However, I do have my evenings free this year, so I may venture out, but I guess I will have to check the Roadfood and Yelp listings for the Choo-Choo City before I venture forth.
OH! And it's my 15th Anniversary Year with SETC! I haven't played all the spring conventions over those 15 years - although I've played for all but two of the fall conventions. For some reason, whenever the convention has been held in Florida, I've haven't been available to make it that year. *And, from what I understand, the past couple of times in Florida, there have been major issues with the convention venue, so I guess someone is looking out for me. ;)
-
DR JMK - First of all, I'd be more concerned with the fever and chills rather than the laryngitis. In either case...
~~~~~GOOD HEALTH VIBES TO YOU~~~~~
And I hope whoever cut the phone cable gets fined accordingly. ;)
-
And the babies are CUTE!, DR TPunk!
-
Well, I have some dishes to wash, and then I shall get ready for bed. -I have some cookies to deliver in the morning!
Goodnight.
-
I hope someone said hello to KT Sullivan for me!
-
Had to go out for a little bit, and am now back listening to a complete recording of the score to Vertigo by Benard Herrmann, conducted by James Conlon. The story behind this CD is very interesting and I'll be talking about it in Ye Olde Notes.
-
At long last page thirteen.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Will we never get to page fourteen?
-
No posts in over an hour. Apparently we will NOT get to page fourteen.
-
WUSSBURGERS!
-
Nobody here but us chickens and a birthday girl.
-
And eight GUESTS. Think I'll have a little ice cream.
-
Thank you for more lovely birthday wishes Micheal S., Cillaliz, Dakota, and TPunk. I hope this year I get to meet more of the DR's I have not yet had the pleasure to meet.
-
Interesting about the Broadway grosses, I had never really looked at them before.
-
I am a tired birthday girl who has a test tomorrow morning - Goodnight all, thank you again.
Good year vibes to everyone ~~~~~~~~~
-
Listening to a very interesting jazz CD - early music by David Amram, who, just a couple of years after these recordings would go on to write Frankenheimer's The Young Savages score, then Splendor In The Grass, The Manchurian Candidate and others.
-
On these recordings, he's the leader and plays the French horn - there are a few Amram compositions and some standards, too. I really like the horn as a lead instrument and he's a GREAT player - and some of the groupings include harpsichord.
-
All the new avatars are making me want to change mine. Can someone with more expertise than I make this the right size?
Try this one out for size!
