Ok, I know that some of you know how to copy from your DVR (Tivo) to a dvd recorder...I have spent a good chunk of the evening trying to figure it out...but blasted I can't seem to do it. Maybe I am just too tired tonight to figure out what kind of cord should go where.
I found instructions on the internet but I couldn't make sense out of the guys technical jargon...I need a "dummies" type instruction I guess.
I tried the cable companies instructions but just got a disc full of snow.
To get the best recording, use an S-video cable for the video and the usual RCA red-white audio cables.
Find the video out and audio out jacks on the back of your DVR and insert the ends of the cables in those.
Then find the video in and audio in jacks on your DVD-recorder and insert the other ends of the cables there. On my DVD-recorder, there is a convenient set of "in" jacks on the front which I routinely use since they are such easy access.
When you're ready to dub, you must make sure that your DVD-recorder is switched to the channel where your video and audio cables are coming into. FOr example, the channel for those front jacks on my DVD-recorder is labeled IN3. If you're not on the right channel, you will only get snow.
