And Sandra knew those book titles you mentioned right off.

To be honest (well...I don't actually have to be, but I will ;)), I'd never heard of these before today.

Noel, you make some interesting points about NYMF, but I'm sure some of the NYMF folk would take issue with your categorizing the shows' selection process as "whether it was that esteemed panel of seven Tony-honorees or the young folks who run NYMF itself."

The Invited Works are not chosen by so-called "young people." ...
"Potential Invited Shows are submitted privately to NYMF by an industry advocate -- an agent, producer, director or theatre company -- or have been scouted by our programming staff members"

I think there's some confusion about exactly which "young people" I referred to.  I wasn't referring to the readers (seen that list, and a lot don't strike me as spring chickens) but the actual Powers-That-Be at NYMF.  I cut young people a break; others find their mistakes inexcusable.  To be clear, I was thinking of:

Executive Director  Kris Stewart
Executive Producer  Isaac Robert Hurwitz
Management Coordinator Demos Tsilikoudis
Operations Manager  Sarah Melissa Rotker
Marketing Associate     Lynn Spector
Development Manager  Lee Ann Gullie
Associate Director of Programming Jess McLeod
Senior Associate Producer  David E. Leidholdt

and by "mistakes" I'm not talking about the shows they chose to invite, but all the little things they make it harder for our shows to get on (as referred to, more than once, by our esteemed BK).

No, the DVR is a temporay storage device (think one big RAM drive), It lets you record a program for later viewing (either because you are away or or watching a different channel) - it has a limited capacity (mine holds about 30 hours) and you must delete shows once the baby fills up. The DVR is on-line whenever you are viewing, so you can rewind a show in progress and re-watch a scene you might havr missed (then fast forward thru commercials to get caught up).

Thank you, der Brucer. I didn't realize it worked this way.

Noel, would you be so kind as to do me a favor?  Next time you have a moment with Brad Oscar, would you tell him that Sharry and Micheal O'Hara send their love and wish they could be there to see FRIENDS. They are both, at the moment, in a production of AUNTIE MAME.

One of my matches is Kyra Sedgewick....so I will have to let them know I am available to shoot THE CLOSER if she gets another gig.

;D ;D But what about World of Wisdom? Surely they could not get by without you.

Just had to say that one more time.  In any case...

I sort of accidentally exaggerated earlier when I gave the headcount for the number of auditionees today.  Instead of 347, I meant to say 247.  -I just can't add.  In any case, we saw a lot of people today.  And even though it was a "Women's Chorus Call" today, we did see some Men who weren't able to make last week's call.  However...

After lunch, we had two more groups of Equity women to see, before we started with the non-Equity women.  Before lunch, there were about 100 non-Equity women signed up, and at that point and time, the director had stated that he would go ahead and see all of them - even though we were not required to see them.  "If they came today, and have been waiting all day, we should see them."  Well...

By the time were finished with the Equity women (and a couple of men) - 155 in all - only 42 non-Equity women had stayed/come back for the afternoon session.

So, we saw 197 people in about seven and a half hours - about 25 people per hour.  In other words...

WHEW!!!

And even though it was quite the audition-packed day, I have to say, it was quite the "happy room".  The production staff that were there today were/are a great bunch of people.  We kept each other smiling and laughing all day.  Even the audition monitor commented that almost every person coming out of the room had a big smile on their face and said it was one of the nicest auditions they've ever attended.  :)

I got home in time to watch the upcoming release of the 1961 Roger Corman film THE INTRUDER. Very politically hot for 1961 (concerning a Southern town's rebellion against integration) and a wonderful performance from William Shatner early in his career.

But Disney has done no digital clean-up on the film at all. It's filed with dirt, specks, black and white scratches (appropriate to the subject matter, I guess), and missing frames. It's in rough shape, but I'd never seen the film before, and it's certainly a coruscating view of racism.

For some reason, it sounds strange to hear Roger Corman and Disney in the same post.

Band rehearsal vibes - it's happening right now!

I wonder if DR JOSE's Whew was personal or professional?

Oh wait...today was his own 300!!!  Not Spartans, though, 300 auditioners for SHREK....

He is just lucky that they were there for the women's roles.  Can you imagine being in a room with 300+ Shreks?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070917/ap_on_re_us/crocs_escalator_dangers

"People, particularly young children, getting their toes caught in escalators. The one common theme seems to be the clunky soft-soled clogs known by the name of the most popular brand, Crocs."

When Bryan was young we had a scary moment when his shoe lace got caught in an escalator.  He and I were fairly calm while we untangled him, just in time.  The woman next to us wasn't.  ::) We didn't even know her & she made the situation more difficult.

And during the course of today's call, I happened to see at least five of my "favorite people" who I haven't seen in years.  I always like when that happens.

Shrek - Yes, based on the movies - well, at least the first one.

This series of auditions is for an upcoming six-week workshop of the show.  As for the rest of it's "Broadway timetable", that's still very much TBA.

Oh, that show... Oops...

It was "Unwrapped" - The focus tonight was on "Oversized Foods".  They featured the Hamptons location of Levain.

I think last night was the worst most boring episode of BIG BROTHER I have ever seen.

I kinda enjoyed it.  I want Dick to win. He will share with Danielle, I don't think the opposite is true
