I'll see tonight's WILL & GRACE and NIGHT STALKER tomorrow.

Oops (Spoo)! That's part of tomorrow's Friday Media Check.

Never mind.

OK, past midnight here, and I need to put myself to bed.

Good night, all.

TCB, I'm keeping Blue Hawaii simply because I don't have the right sleeve for it.  Also, of the Soundtracks, it is probably the last decent one before the sad decline.

Tomovoz, I'm keeping all my singles, eps, and lps that aren't soundtracks.

Back from the movies with DRs Ben and Jose and DP Ant. Tonight's show was "To Catch A Thief," and the print was SO much better than "Mildred Pierce." Alas, none of us won any sparkling door prizes, but a good time was had by all (I think) and I'm personally looking forward to "Psycho" next week.

After the movie, Benthony went to their home environment and Jose and I went out in search of a late dinner in Chelsea. Good food and good times watching the wait staff. :)

Re. the subway warnings: I haven't read the news sites yet, so I don't know the specifics of it. Ben told me and Jose about the warnings once we arrived at the cinema, so it was a surprise to me. I won't lie - it concerns me. But, as DR TPunk pointed out, I went pretty quickly from freaked out to PUT out. I don't want to have to walk to Queens from Midtown. Jose - if something happens, God forbid, you may have a houseguest overnight.

You know, though....for a town that has security threats on their mass transit systems, I saw ne'ery a hint of added security on any of the train platforms. I'm sure they're there - maybe just not in sight.

I think JRand had some feedback for you on page 7.

Yes, I did, but I guess sometimes my posts get skipped.  8)

Although all of his other films had some songs recorded specifically for the movie, TICKLE ME - the last film MADE for release under the old Monogram-Allied Artists group - was made up completely of songs that had already been recorded but hadn't been put on albums.

Voila' - instant soundtrack without the trouble of going into the studio.

Good Evening!

-What Jason said...

;)

I did enjoy the movie.  I will admit that I did have a case of the "noddies" throughout - playing "What's New Buenos Aires" at least 100 times over the past eight hours has that effect on a person - but I did enjoy the movie.  And the company.

And I really did want to win one of the sparkling door prizes.  They had tickets to the One Man Star Wars Trilogy as well as Graham Norton's new show.  When people started not to claim their prizes after their number was called out, I almost started to speak up and yell, "I'll take it!"  Alas, it was just "almost"...

And dinner was very good too.  We headed down to Viceroy.  And I have to say that the restaurants in Chelsea were quite busy tonight.  And there was also quite the crowd at Avalon - formerly Limelight.

Oh... And no dessert for either of us tonight...  We couldn't remember where the Chelsea location of Emack & Bolio's was.  But at least we got some good walking in.

As for the subway threat...

When I boarded at Times Square, I did not notice anything out of the ordinary.  And on the trip back uptown, I didn't notice anything "extra" either.  -However, it was nice that the A Train was actually still running express at 11:10... like it's scheduled to do.  Lately, it's started running "local" starting at 10:00 some evenings.  *According to the information posters, the A is supposed to run Express until midnight.

I'm just wondering what you all did in NYC that made the security level so high.

Always liked the "Tickle Me" EP  "Night Rider" and "Slowly But Surely" received considerable airplay here in OZ.

Pogue, if you like any of the music, keep it. If you are keeping it in hopes of the Elvis soundtracks being worth something, it ain't worth it. His stuff is pretty common, even the cheesy bad movies. I have SPINOUT which I bought mint for like $3. It's kinda fun to listen to how inane some of his tunes were then, like "Smorgasbord," and other such nonsense.

So MBarnum trekked into Queens with me this morning, I took his luggage up to my office, and pointed him in the direction of "Little India". I foolishly wondered how he would spend the time until we met up for Indian food. The fact was, he spent the time  in like one or two stores, shopping for Bollywood movies, and after we ate at the great Indian Buffet, Jackson Diner, he kept right on shopping up until 4:00. The dude's Bollywood obsession knows no bounds. At four, he came back to Playbill, I notified the car service next door, and he hopped in a car to JFK, that is if he didn't convince his driver to take him back to Little India!

Definitely great seeing all the folks yesterday. I could only come to the later dinner, so I missed Vixmom and the Vixter, but thanks for the shark candy, ladies. To all who couldn't make it, you were missed. I always say it takes all kinds to make a chat board, and this one has all kinds of great people.

Whoops! Native American.

DR Vixmom posted a pic of some licorice ealier.  Best known brand of my childhood was "Nigger Boy" licorice.

I had never seen red licorice until my first visit to NYC  in 1994.  And now we export!!!

We had "coon" cheese as a brand until relatively recently. (The name was derived from some obscure Dutch farmer reference I think!)

The great thing about DVD's is that you can play the music as if it were a CD!   ;D
