If you say that with a mid-Northern accent, does it come out "boofus"?  ???

...or if you were in Italy, it would be pronunced boo-FAH-che.

We had an early lunch today, so I got back in time to watch several things. I began with another episode of NUMB3RS. This one had to do with a series of deaths all connected to an illegal election. The perp was never much in doubt but finding evidence to pin on him was the problem. Pretty good episode.

Next, I put in the Blu-ray of THE DEPARTED. I've only watched about 90 minutes (have another hour to do), but it is a very compelling Boston mob drama. Very fascinating parallel of Matt Damon and Leo DiCaprio in "mole" positions in their respective squads.

Mark Walburg definitely deserved his supporting actor Oscar nomination (he's hilarious), and DiCaprio would have been nominated for this is he hadn't made BLOOD DIAMOND the same year. Damon is superb, too. Really, four of these actors should rightfully have earned nominations for this movie (Jack Nicholson should have been the fourth), and only Walburg did. Funny how those things work.

Next I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Yes, Luke and Noah were on, but they were really on the sidelines since most of the episode had to do with a trial which they attended.

They were not in the previews for tomorrow.

I ended the afternoon watching a LAW & ORDER rerun on TNT. This was Jerry Orbach's last episode on the show, and it ended up being a very interesting case of two women who swapped murders and their subsequent simultaneous trials.

I wonder how the washing machine repair in Oregon is going?

I worry more about the physical and/or emotional safety of the repairman!

Not since Charles Dickens has there been such a last minute witness to save the day.

Back from a couple of errands and whatnot, and must now get ready for tonight's rehearsal.  I don't know WHERE this day went.

I can't believe the soaps still get away with this kind of thing. Of course, they're still milking cliches they've used for decades about eavesdropping on intimate moments at just the right pivotal second, etc. Pretty shameless and yet it continues.

I didn't mention it, but the Blu-ray of THE DEPARTED really looks super, among the very finest transfers I've seen.

The uncompressed 5.1 sound is also quite effective.

They must come in the last hour of the movie which I'll be watching in a little while. So far, though it's certainly been violent, there hasn't been quite the amount or severity of violence that I was expecting.

I've got some computer work to take care of and then will be heading down for more of THE DEPARTED and maybe another NUMB3RS episode if there's time.

I shall now be on my way to the Heim of Ana, with or without Mr. Rothman, who is late for the second day in a row - I don't think he quite has it in his head yet that I want to be ON the freeway at three-thirty.

I'm a very very big fan of Hillary Clinton, but I'm finding Chelsea Clinton's attitude of wanting things only her own way, and putting herself out there for what she wants to say but thinking that she can single-handedly set the limits, to be a little oblivious to the way things work in the real world.  it was one thing when she was a minor, but she's almost 30 now.

I don't believe Chelsea should be responsible for answering any questions regarding Monica Lewinsky.  She did not have sex with Monica, nor is she married to the man who did.  Why should be expected to answer any question regarding her parents marriage?
