Best choice, I guess......

I thought the show was good....really spotlighting the shows and musicals....and almost ended on time.

Sound problems again though.

MEMPHIS is a good listen.
I may seek out FELA, since Cillaliz recommends the artist.
I have Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT, do I need the OBC?
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is also an enjoyable listen.

A bit of a disclaimer - I haven't listened to it in years, so I hope I would still like it.

Didn't Bob Hope use that joke a hundred years ago Nathan?

I remember when he said it on the Oscars.

Well, I'm about 10 minutes behind the "live" (delayed for the west coast) broadcast...I just heated up a couple of fully cooked hamburger patties and they were very good.  But, I rewound the broadcast so I wouldn't miss anything. :)

No spoilers needed.

Well, I watched the show after almost turning off after the opening number.  Glad for the many RED wins, sorry Molina didn't win.  All the muscle-bound dancers in LA CAGE made for very uinbelieveable, awfully butch drag queens.  I hated all the musical nominations...wouldn't want to see any of those shows and I found the numbers assaultive.  And I'm tired of seeing anorexic women.  Kristen Chenoweth and Cate Blanchett, eat a steak!

Well,  the show is intened as commercial for Broadway - and they did about  as they could with the material at hand.

But Finian's Raiibow was  noteworthy by its absence

Okay...what is the point of Green Day the actual band being on the Tonys??

Thank you for the lovely Tony Party, BK, even though I didn't understand anything going on.

I used to love watching the Tony Awards. I would see so many things I hoped would tour and decide which CDs to buy. Seems like the last few years have been very disappointing.

The PROMISES PROMISES dance was indeed the Overture; same one on the OBC, soon to be released anew. I caught that and the Twyla Tharp number, then turned to Masterpiece Theatre and watched the last 45 minutes of EMMA.

The Broadway i came to New York to work in no longer exists. I caught the last show.

The partay is just beginning here - hope some people stay around.

The opening number was a perfect statement for how completely bankrupt the Broadway musical has come.  And having Kristin do Say A Little Prayer instead of an ACTUAL song from the real Promises, Promises, was so predictable and terrible.  I hated every second of the opening.  And I didn't like Million Dollar Quartet's number either - I mean, for me - who cares?

And the pumping up of the audience screaming is nauseating, as is the direction and sound.

Okay, Scarlett just gave the LONGEST acceptance speech on the Tonys that I can ever remember having seen...especially for a featured actress award!

Watch Catherine Zeta-Jones' head when she does the number from A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

I thought she was going to do a complete spin-around, ala THE EXORCIST.
