I don't think I've ever shared this before - here's Sami doing my song Annie - which kind of became her signature song - the difference here is this is the ALS benefit from two years ago and this version has a wonderful orchestration by Lanny Meyers - the band is rough a couple of times (the rehearsal was better in that regard) but Sami is stellar. To think that one of the producers put their foot down the year before about Sami appearing and won that fight, and then tried to do it again and enlist the aid of the fellow producers is nauseating - now that producer denies it, but there's no denying it because it was witnessed by more than just me, and it happened only because I put MY foot down and made it a dealbreaker. I knew this would stop the show and boy did it - and that probably also didn't sit well with the producer. But that's another story for another day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04b8dkGhTRw
Time to get moving and ready to leave for the airport.
Speaking of travel, Richard and I have decided NOT to attempt a trip to the Pacific Northwest this summer. I just couldn't gear up for a multi-leg flight. We've lined up some other travel though, including the first week of July in New York City. Two other church-related driving trips, one to western Kentucky in late May and the other to Memphis in October. Attached to that one, we'll visit Vicksburg and drive part of the Natchez Trace.

Travel vibes for DR Jane and Keith!
DR ChasSmith, this is a trip we've wanted to take for a while, because Richard's great grandfather fought at the Battle of Vicksburg.
I hope you are able to speak with Pam :(

We need to co-ordinate our June and July dates, DR Ginny, if I'm to spend two weeks in Ohio at the Miami Library. I'm counting on you and Justin to help me organize the mess.
DR Ginny you will be missed in the Pacific Northwest
I'm going back to bed but I just heard about Sammy. So sad about this - he had a lot of demons but I always adored him. I'll write about our small history in the notes. The first musical he did after A Chorus Line was, of all things, my show Stages. And I did get to use him in one Kritzerland show.

I'm sorry. I must have missed something.
"Sammy" who?
And, what happened?

Sammy Williams, who won the Tony for A Chorus Line.
TOD:
I will take DR JOHN G's list.
I don't like a book sale with bumping elbows......
I hope you are able to speak with Pam :(
I've asked Emily to let me know when Pam's up to a phone call. It's going to be painful, and I hope I can keep from blubbering.
I'm afraid I've joined the ranks of the walking wounded. I think I pulled a muscle in my right arm the other day. It hurts like hell and I have very limited use of that arm. Two nights of poor sleep haven't helped. I shall make my time here brief.
My friend Pam went to an Indiana college, St Mary of the Woods, and when she graduated in 1968 she married a student in the Miami U architecture dept., which was a 5-year program. She worked the summer theatre season with me and the director of the dept. offered her an assistantship in the box office for Sept. 1968, when I became a grad assistant as well. I loved her immediately.
This photo of her and Paul is from around 1969.
Today on her Facebook page her daughters posted this:
To Everyone Who Loves Pam - The family has gathered to fill the house on Drummond Road with love, warmth, and a lot of Bruce Springsteen. These days, Mom's body can't always keep up with her spirit. This is happening fast -- for all of us. Mom has lived a powerful life and has fought a great fight; and done both with love. We appreciate all of you keeping Mom and Dad in your hearts and sending love and light our way during these quiet last days.
Oh no DR JANE that's scary.
I lost track....are you in Vegas or are you home?
DR Ginny you will be missed in the Pacific Northwest
Thanks, DR Jane - someday...

We still don't know when or if DR FJL is coming out. We are planning something with DS Craig in June and I hope, if the gathering does happen I won't miss it.

I assume we'll be doing any back and forth with the theater before the show opens from here, of course, and if plane fares cooperate, I could probably coordinate when I see the show with everyone from HHW's schedules.
The only adjustment they're asking about so far is a different number than on the CD (and in the published script) for the Battle scene (which is 8 minutes, though).
Thanks DR JANE - I like to keep track of everybody.
We used to have such fun here late at night. Everyone is so OLD now.
Then this evening, I'm ushering for the Seattle Men's Chorus and the Seattle Women's Chorus, who will be performing together at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/seattle-mens-womens-chorus/)! I've never seen the Men's Chorus live, so I'm really looking forward to this! :D
My friend Baayork Lee has posted that Tony-winner Sammy Williams has died.
After I got measured for Cinder Edna costumes today, I went to Happy Teriyaki for lunch.

I picked up my framed Harvey Schmidt doodle. Looks wonderful. Now, where to hang it?
A friend mentioned on facebook she was at Nordstrom's at the Thousand Oaks Mall and had the smarts to get out of there as soon as the sirens went off. There was a shooting and other people on her page posted they were in lock down for an hour and a half.

Welcome home, Jane.
