It would be a blast to have a 4th of July partay with Jack Larson. He just strikes me as an adorable, fun guy.

Aha, Lloyd Center....I remember going there as a smal tike around 1969 or 1970ish. I thought it was pretty darn neat....and big!

Once again, there was something funky going on with the Thursday night broadcast of MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST.  The audio was completely jammed and unlistenable, so I had to delte the entire show. It's repeating today on Bravo at some point, and I set the DVR to pick it up again. I'll watch it tomorrow while I cook and eat lunch.

Instead, I watched THE MOLE from Monday night. The person I think is the Mole is still in the game, so maybe I'm on the right track now after going in the wrong direction once before.

Next, I watched another episode of THE CLOSER. This was the one with Orson Bean as the guest star. Very effective performance in this part, and I enjoyed seeing this episode again. It wasn't so emotionally devastating as the R'by" episode that I watched yesterday.

Next, I picked back up with the bonus features on the MISHIMA set with a half hour dialog with two people who knew Mishima and talk about his life and works. Donald Richie is one. The other man I wasn't as familiar with.

I think there are three bonuses left, and then I'll watch the movie this evening. That should take me up to the end of the evening.

If not, I'll likely watch THE NIGHT THEY RAIDED MINSKY'S.

I decided to watch this 1955 Bollywood film

I have heard good things about it and it is quite colorful, as can be seen from these screen captures.

I'm heading back into the den to continue watching MISHIMA bonus features and the film itself.

Richard and I just had a late lunch/early dinner - fried chicken and corn on the cob.  He did most of the prep (I cleaned the corn) and now he's doing all the clean up.

TOD - the Saturdays that stand out in my mind were when I was in high school.  My friend Eleanor and I would often take the bus to downtown Detroit and spend the day in the now-demolished J. L. Hudson store.  Sometimes, we'd walk up Woodward Ave. to eat Chinese food for lunch at Victor Lim's on Grand Circus Park.  If one of us had an assignment for Spanish to read a novel in that language, we'd visit a branch of Detroit Public Library that was behind Hudson's and had the best foreign language collection in the city.

Thanks for the congrats DR Laura (about fitting into my pants).

But the 3rd level of pants are even smaller. For some reason my nicest clothes are all in this small size. I knew those pants would not fit. Although i did try on 4 pairs of these ones today. I could not do up the zipper to 2. So i'm guessing maybe 10 lbs?

I also have at least 3 pairs of long jean shorts (blue, black and beige) that i would love to try to fit into this summer. I'm guessing they are the same size as the ones i tried on today.

But i do feel better. And i think my foot should be okay to start biking again this week.

Can you say who you think it is and why?

I'm just curious.

I do pay attention. But i always feel like most of the things the mole does are really under the radar.

I sort of think it has to be one of those two younger brown haired guys. But really i have no idea.

I've finished most of the nostes for Act One, and I'll finish those up tomorrow. I may run down to Toyland first thing in the morning and bring home the Act Two scores.

Now, tonight, I may watch HYENAS, the African version of Durrenmatt's THE VISIT.

Took DS Gabe out to get him all supplied for his world travels tomorrow.  Got a great deal on a closeout Kodak Easy Share digital camera at Target.  It was already marked way down and it turned out they only had the floor model left, which they sold to me for an additional 30% off!  So I got Gabe a neat little camera of his own for the journey (which even takes short MPEGs, like our Canon), for around $50.  I was very pleased.  I also made an important parenting discovery today--spending several hundred on Gabe seems to momentarily snap him out of his perennial pre-teen funk.  :)

DR JMK - Vibes that Gabe's parents survive his Hawaiian vacation!  I remember feeling the same way when we sent our son on a church mission trip to Mexico.

So far today i went to the park. Made sand castles. Went on the slide.

Then went to costco to eat a hotdog (no bun for me).

And now my niece is asleep upstairs. She must have been very tired.

She is very proud of herself. Today she peed 3 times in the toilet. She got to ring a bell and put stickers in her book!

 ;D  Sounds like a good day. :)

SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL AND VACATION VIBES FOR GABE, DS OF DR JMK!

How is Betsy dealing with the pending departure?

I have a hunch Gabe will take some very nice photos with his new camera. :)

It used to be a Russian Community Center.

It still is, I believe.

JMK, you do know that they have now allowed Hawaii to become part of the United States.

When we were at Border's picking Gabe up some reading material, I got Onion's parody Atlas of the World ("now with 30% more Asia!") for Betsy.  It's hilarious--laid out like a BBC Atlas, but with one great line after another.  The little description under Mauritania says "Holy F***--they still have slavery here!"  :)
