Good morning, all! Another day in Toyland, hopefully positive answers on a new office space, and perhaps an evening ou/movie with my friend Kirk. Beyond that, I've got some orchestration work from Mr Kevin Spirtas to begin and I've been doing some Brain Surgery for BK.
DR edi, re yesterday's MOULIN ROUGE posting: the musical is a terrible film, much as I love STRICTLY BALLROOM, but I have no idea what you saw since it hasn't played on Broadway.
TOD:
Man of La Mancha
Brigadoon
A Chorus Line
Pal Joey
A Funny Thing Happened . . .
A Little Night Music
I have a problem with a lot of Hollywood musicals, like BABES IN ARMS, in which nearly all of the original score is dumped, and shows like KISS ME, KATE Wherein the lyrics are laundered. I'd like HAIR more - I do admire it - if the final cut had included songs that I know they filmed: "Frank Mills" and "Air" come to mind immediately.
GODSPELL comes to mind as a guilty pleasure: I love the score and I think the show is quite moving and wonderful, but it's hippie-dippie clowns running around New York spouting gospel and Schwartz makes me roll my eyes.
