I'm having half-heimers:  can anyone tell me what the word is for when a soldier is wounded and is sent back home?  There's an official military term and it just won't come for me.

It isn't "demobbed," though it's something like that.

All I can think of is matriculated, but that's not right.  You'd think a General's son could remember something like that, especially when his father underwent it (whatever the frell it's called) back in WWII.

Demobbed is military-speak for demobilized, but you probably already knew that.

Met friends for lunch and we went to a local Lithuanian restaurant which I'd not been to before. Had a spicy soup followed by some sort of beef dish, with roast potatoes and salad, followed by a cherry tart. All very filling. I now feel totally bloated so will go and lie down like a beached whale.

BK, is there any way you could license some of the old Paramount LPs?  I've been listening to the original TV soundtrack of MANNIX, which has never been released on CD (Lalo did a rerecording which has been released with various covers, including one that *looks* like the original TV release, but isn't).  It's a fantastic album, different than the re-record (Lalo's piano solo on the theme from the original recording is spectacular).

From Cilla:

I am going to look into taking private lessons now.  There is a teacher at the local community college who has a doctorate in flute and gives private lessons through the college.  You don't have to enroll in school to take lessons.  It may be a way to get into some groups.  I'm really glad I'm doing all this.  I've been playing again since September and it just keeps getting better.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!

From John G:
Quote
I met a woman today who reminds me a little of you. She runs a non-profit food truck that fees the homeless and anyone else in need of something nutritious to eat. She gathers leftover fresh produce from the farmers market and breads from several bakeries to include in her meals.

As she gets to know the regulars, she has begun to make 10 vegetarian meals and 1 vegan meal, plus numerous diabetic plates.

She is a former lawyer who left the practice years ago after losing a client on death row. She recently enrolled in culinary school and has decided her new mission is to combat hunger "one plate at a time." She drove up to Joplin last summer and fed many of the workers there right after the tornadoes.

This is a person DS Craig would like to meet.  He would want to make completely vegan meals.

DR Jane, I finished CATCH ME by Lisa Gardner last night. Really liked it.

Only one question. Which of her other books have you read? I think you're up to date on the D.D Warren series? But have you read any of the FBI Profiler series? The reason I ask is that a few characters from her other books appear briefly in this book. Quincy and his daughter (from the FBI Profiler series) talk to D.D over the phone. But they mention stuff about their lives/relationships that could be considered minor spoilers for that series if you haven't read it.

I'm glad you enjoyed CATCH ME.  I've read the rest of the series.  Should I read her other books?

DR Jane mentioned she was looking for something to read. This mystery thriller which is usually $13.99 is free on both amazon and nook for a very limited time. It's supposed to be sort of like John Grisham.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00546FN7A/?tag=bargainebookhunter-20

It is also referred to as an evangelical Christian fiction novel.  Since it is free & the reviews are excellent I have ordered it.  Thanks for the tip.

I've never had Lithuanian food.  I'm not sure it sounds very good.  I want to visit one day & see Vilna, the town my grandparents are from.

I hope to visit Vilnius (Vilna) myself one day. People say it's very beautiful. It's on my list of places to see.

I should do research on the city.  I don't know much about it and am most curious if the old Jewish section is still there.

MANNIX had one of best theme songs of 60's TV shows.

As predicted, it's very windy here now.  Today's weather is more like April than January.

Keith emailed me the photos from our trip.  If I knew what I was doing I could easily drop them into a photo file on my computer.  Since I don't know what I'm doing this will take awhile.  I'm starting with Christmas photos.  I got one on facebook.

Paramount LPs are, I believe, controlled by Universal, so right now it's not a possibility for us.

Finessed, printed, Xeroxed (and am having the Xerox place to the complete book spiral bound for me to do the initial proofing before I get it to my two official proofers), and pages delivered.  Muse Margaret doesn't think she'll be able to read all of it in one day, so I probably won't hear from her until tomorrow.  In the meantime, here is a preview of the new book:

If you've read the rest of the D.D. Warren series then that should be enough. I think you would really enjoy the FBI Profiler series (i really liked it).
Just be warned that other characters from her other books appear in Catch Me.  Specifically in reference to the FBI Profiler series D.D has a conversation with Quincy and his daughter. They do mention a couple of small things about relationships and kids. So if you really don't like knowing these types of details and you plan on reading the FBI Profiler series ...
