Good morning all! I also had a hard time signing on yesterday so I started watching some of my DVDs while I still have some time to do so. Just one more week off until I go back to work (that’s a four letter word in case you don’t know it).
DR DakotaCelt, I have read some of the Dr. Who books. My house is so tiny that I regret to say that I don’t have the storage space to keep such treasures. I usually have to read a book then take them to the used book store to trade for others.
I would give anything to have a room like BK and DR Charles Pogue to keep my books and DVD collection.
The only collection that I have managed to hold onto is the Dark Shadows series by Marilyn (Dan) Ross. I have all of his books and a few of the others. I think the only one I am missing is the cookbook.
I did come across a box of Babylon 5 books that I must have bought off of E-bay but never read until now. I just finished the “Legions of Fire” series. Very good reading that fills in the gap of the time from when Londo becomes emperor thru to his death--when G’Kar strangles him. That’s not a spoiler because you knew that was the death that Londo saw for himself in the TV series.
I’m very sorry to hear that DR Jane doesn’t feel good. Many vibes to feel better soon!
And while we are in the vibe department, many more to our very own Mr. BK for broken legs! Have a perfect show and remember to ENJOY yourself a bit.
DR Elmore, how are you? I know the days after a fall like you had are much worse then the day it happened.
I liked watching “The Frisco Kid” but I didn’t remember it having so much swearing. I guess since the only times I had seen it was on TV that must have been edited out. I can’t say it enhanced the story for me.
It turned a bit cooler down here in Florida as well. It’s only in the 60’s. That’s not so cold for some of you, I know, but for us that’s quite a change.
The cardinals down here in Florida are yard birds. In fact, I saw one streak across the sky just the other evening while I was feeding Bear. Such a lovely sight to see. :)
There used to be a female who came every year. I knew it was her because she loved to look at the bird in the mirror on my van. I don’t know what happened to her but it is still early Spring so she might be on her way here.
When I get my new camera, I shall try to take a picture of some of the birds.
BTW, the new camera with anti shake should be coming out very soon. I am so glad that I was able find out about it and take the other camera back in time to get a refund.
-
Good morning!
It's gray and cool here. It had rained before I got up, and the gray clouds have not gone away so it's hard to put on a happy face (ode to Strouse).
-
Crossed fingers, good wishes, and broken legs to bk on his first public performance of DECEIT!!
Hope all goes well.

I've been very disheartened by Amazon's slow delivery these past two weeks. I had a large order this week, and I suppose something I ordered is slowing down shipment, but it's irritating.
I'm thinking it may be the newest Shirley Temple collection which had no picture at Amazon, and I'm wondering if Fox delivered it on time.
Very irritating when one has things in that order he especially wants to see.
-
Oh (a DR Jose reference), the lunch at Olive Garden was wonderful. Both my friend and I had the endless soup and salad.
My friend made the comment that she wished she had the receipe for the Pasta e Fagioli soup that we both had so when I got home I did a web search. I found a site called Top Secret Recipes and they had it!
Since I can rarely get Mom to go out to eat I printed it out and made it for dinner last night. I have to say that it was very, very, very good. I couldn't tell the difference between the clone and what I had at Olive Garden.

I ended up falling asleep last night while sitting in the living room last with my laptop on my lap while I was in the midst of reading yesterday's posts... So... When I finally got up, I just headed straight the bed, and now...
I've been up for a bit this morning, and I've been taking care of laundry, mail, phone calls, e-mails, etc. Real life stuff. And now...

Re: "LOST" from Wednesday night....
SPOILER POTENTIAL
I'm sorta surprised that no one here has mentioned that "moment" in the last episode between Locke and Jack.
It's in the bunker bathroom. Jack is stepping out the shower and sees Locke shaving at the sink.
Visibly irritated, Jack asks Locke if he couldn't have waited until he (Jack) was done.
Locke, unaffected, explains that the steam softens his beard and, since they didn't have shaving cream, he wants to take advantage of it.
They then begin discussing Henry, the man they have locked up in the armory, and about bringing in Ana Lucia to interrogate him. Locke turns his head during the conversation to look Jack in the eye. Then, without warning, his eyes do a quick dip "south" and then back up to Jack's eyes. Jack does not seem to have noticed.
I did.
:D

In other show business news...
Lestat rehearsals continue to go well. Yesterday was very productive, and I'm starting to feel settled and a bit more confident with my keyboard part. I do have to admit that I have been feeling a bit stressed out every now and then, and there are still a few scary moments for me throughout the show. -And I'm not referring to the action on the stage - which I can't see anyway. Thankfully, my "roommates" up on the seventh floor - which happens to include the associate conductor - have been very supportive and encouraging. And I've also had some wonderful friends who have been telling me to calm down, relax, and stop stressing. I just have to keep telling myself, "They're not talking about me."
;)
But I really am still having a great time, and I can't wait for tomorrow night's first preview. My first Broadway preview.
:)
-
...And I happened to take the A train back uptown last with a couple of the cast members from Tarzan and The Threepenny Opera revival - both of which start previews tonight.
-Just love that sense of the Broadway community.
-
Well, I need to continue taking care of "real life" stuff. *My plan is to be able to take this coming Sunday totally off, so the more busy work I can get done in these mornings, the less I'll have to do on Sunday.
I'm back at the theatre from 1:30-11:00 today - with another nice three-hour dinner break in there again.. So...
I hope everyone is doing well. VIBES to those who need them, and I'll catch up on the Posts...

DR MattH - Thanks for the reminder that the World Figure Skating Championships are taking place right now - the event had totally dropped off my radar! And last night, when I really wanted to veg out in front of the TV, I didn't know that ESPN was broadcasting all evening >:(. Oh, well, if I had known, I'd have stayed up too late and been even groggier than usual this morning.
To help me avoid missing something else, I've gone to Heather's Figure Skating TV Schedule (http://heatherw.com/mk/sch.htm) and printed a copy!

I think there's much to be said for several versions...the 1940 MGM Greer Garson/Laurence Olivier version is wonderful fun....the BBC/A&E co-production with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth is superb (IMO), and I understand the movie that came out last year is magical.

The Vixter is actually feeling better today but she is spending most of the day getting all the homework out of the way because the annual I-CON has come to StonyBrook LI and we have our three day passes ans plan to go.
Of ocurse two of her teachers decided to assign major assignments to be done over the weekend
(Doesn't it ever occur to these teachers that we might have plans for our child? Why do they insist on filling every free minute with some nonsense assignment! Perhaos we would like to spemd some time as a family ....AUUUGH!! ) So since she has been basicallyout all week out Monday, back Tuesday, sent home by the school nurse Thursday and doing school work at home all that time I said the heck with it, kept her home and I'm letting her do all the weekend work now. Hopefully by 5 PM she will be done and we will be on our way to Stonybrook University!!

I saw that LOST scene as well, but I guess I wasn't paying much attention.
I did watch some of the World Championships last night...I had forgotten they were on! Tuned in just in time to see the men's champion crowned. In a "round table" with some former champions a bit later, there was some "bad-mouthing" of some skaters going on...including Mr Weir who finished....

LOST DISCUSSION.
:)
I think it was either a Terry O'Quinn joke...OR...a deliberate insert directed at the audience that says, "Yes! Men DO check each other out in the locker rooms!"
What does it mean if it's a Terry O'Quinn joke?
See I wasn't at all thinking about the men checking each other out angle.
I was thinking that perhas either Locke has a crush on Jack. But it actually seemed like Jack was the one very uncomfortable.

I wish it was but of everything it could be I know it's not that. :D
-
Hummm, might be. I think it's a balloon.
I know that picture was taken the day that my friend (the one I had lunch with the other day) retired from work.
Ya know, I hate it when my fingers can't keep up with my brain and I skip putting in a word. LOL! :D
I hate that when that happens... It happens to me frequently also!! :)

I'm downloading the old album FAMOUS MONSTERS SPEAK, featuring Gabe Dell as Dracula.

I'll have a cup of EmergenC right now, but that's it. It's partially allergies, too, but most of it, I'm afraid to say, is in my head.
-
I've never heard of EmergenC. Is that like Airborne?
-
Aint Eller promised to wear her fascinator, too, if Curly took her to the picnic!

How's the box office? Any special advertising promoting the appearance of the playwright? How did the other actor take his dismissal?
Enquiring minds want to know.

So here I am back again, and no posts for almost an hour.
Is it my breath?

No, DR WFO - it's Friday!!
-
I've been information-waitressing for the last 2 hours and can't post from there.

So here I am back again, and no posts for almost an hour.
Is it my breath?
No... :)
I was busy working on my notes for a paper I am doing for my class on Indians of the Plains. It is an anthropology class. I am pulling my History and Communications background into the paper. My topic is Native american images in film as seen through Native American and Euro-American lenses..
Lots of movie watching...
Cheyenne Autumn --- Not good in the portrayal of native Americans when it is applied to the Hoebel and Lowie interpretations.
Dances With Wolves has some merit as does Man called Horse and Little Big Man. Little Big Man has an interesting undercurrent as it refers to feelings regarding the Vietnam war.
I have watched Thunderheart....
I hope to in the near future view Skins, Windwalker, Powwow Highway and House Made of Dawn.
My paper is due at the end of April but it takes time to study, read and interpret. I have found several very good resources and information. I am also perusing a book on film theory to understand some things a bit better. Needless to say I am immersed in the world of celluloid images!

DR DakotaCelt - I used to tell students that term papers were called TERM papers because they were supposed to take a long time to complete - if they were supposed to be done at the last minute, they'd be called "cram-it-together-the-day-before-it's-due" papers. They weren't amused.
-
DAKOTA CELT - Cheyenne Autumn does have Miss Carroll Baker...
Sending MR BK a glockenspiel of best wishes....
-
So true DR GINNY.....if begun at the beginning of the term, and even at one page a day - if would be finished by the end of the term....
-
DR Ginny -- I love your reference librarian comment!!
"Information waitressing" comes from the title of a poem written by a co-worker. Would you like a copy?
-
Bruce!! Break legs tonight, stud!!!
(I, myself, will be at Kane Hall, trying to turn a no-lighting, no-set, no-tech-stuff-at-all, 3-count-'em-3 directors!-oy mish-mash into anything resembling an actual "show"...)(which opens, and closes, tomorrow night)
-
Ginny! "Information waitressing..." please post it!!!

Yes, I would....
-
Oh well then. Friday.
So I'll do a TOD:
CD Player: I'm finally listening to the In Trousers CD that I bought some months ago, the OC starring our very own Alison Fraser--if you can believe it, twenty-seven years ago!
I know all the other Marvin/Falsettos scores through CD, but this is the first time I've heard IT, except for those songs which were transplanted into Falsettoland. And of course, "I'm Breaking Down" (cut but added to the CD), which I believe our very own BK rescued from oblivion on one or another of his classic Lost In/Unsung/Unwritten CDs.
Anyway, I just love William Finn, although he initially took some getting used to, and everything on this recording is infectious, even if I haven't the slightest clue what some of it is about.
-

I hear ya...
I had to pick my topic a month ago and submit my abstract for it. My professor was very impressed. It is a fascinating class. HE is loaning a copy of Powwow Highway. My paper is focusing more in the images of the Dakota (I know some of you know them as the Sioux but Dakota is the correct name) and the Cheyenne.
I shake my head when some come in and check out books at 11pm for a paper due at 8 or 9 am.
Actually, you have a better paper when you work on it bit by bit. A paper I did a couple of years ago on VRT preservation I worked on all semeseter and I got an A. The professor for that class was impressed and man I worked my butt off on it all semester.

DAKOTA CELT - Cheyenne Autumn does have Miss Carroll Baker...

I know JR but it does not help with the interpretation of cultural representation... She is a lovely actress

I am now awaiting the Comcast Cable man to arrive and hook up the DVR machine.
-
...and I hope he is not sullen and crabby...
I once met a VERY nice cable man...but that is as story for another day.
-
VCR: A time-shift tape for the new Dr. Who. I inadvertently missed the first two episodes last week, and so I recorded them last midnight (except for the first 7 minutes, as Joe said, "Weren't you doing to record... ?" and I ran to get the damn plastic off a new tape....)
So anyway we better watch those two before 8, when we will record the third episode.
And speaking of things British, we did see the new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last week.
Absurd that "Goodbye and Thanks for All the Fish" wasn't even nominated for an Oscar. I rather think it should have won.
But what do I know? I mean, I'm sure it's hard out here fo' a pimp.
-
I am now awaiting the Comcast Cable man to arrive and hook up the DVR machine.
Comcast is not available up here...
-
And my DVD/CD burner seems to have completely given up the ghost. I just had it installed last may...it has never really worked very well, but now it won't work at all...and it makes a lot of noise when it does try to work.
So I will either try to get a replacement burner from Pioneer or just bite the bullet and buy a new one...they are much cheaper then they were at this time last year.

Lucky person!! You get to see the new Doctor!!
I was suprised that song did not watch either. I have yet to see HItchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.. I have read the books and they are hoot.
Did you know that Douglas Adams wrote a Doctor Who adventure?

DR MattH re: your amazon orders, do you ever email them to inquire? I've found that makes a big difference.
I have in the past when I've heard nothing for a couple of weeks, but these discs were just released this week (Tuesday), so it's hardly "late" in the traditional sense. I'm just impatient.
BTW, I got an e-mail from them today saying the items (the complete order) had shipped today, so I'll have them Monday. What's more, something I ordered on sale from Deep Discount came today, and I never got an e-mail from them saying they had shipped. ANyway, I got SUMMER MAGIC, ED WOOD, and THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT today, so that will last me through the weekend.

It is COLD here! When I went out for my errands, I had to come back and get a heavier jacket. Much colder than ANY day in February. How ironic is that!

For Danise and DakotaCelt:

I spent most of the afternoon watching MURDER SHE WROTE episodes from the DVD. Loads of wonderful guest stars.
In one, there was Chad Everett and Abby Dalton.
In another there was Eleanor Parker, Edward Mulhare, Dan O'Herliihy, Donnie Most, Conrad John Schuck, and Barbi Benton.
I think Season 3 is probably my favorite of all the seasons the show ran. The mysteries are wonderful.
-
And then there's that famous crossover episode with MAGNUM P.I. The producers of the DVD set have thoughtfully given us the MAGNUM episode as a bonus feature to watch if need be before watching the conclusion of the mystery which aired on MURDER SHE WROTE.
So, in addition to Tom Selleck and John Hillerman from the MANGNUM series, the guests stars also included Dorothy Loudon, John McMartin, Jessica Walter, and Andrew Prine.
-
I started to watch the figure skating recorded in the early hours of the morning, but the phone rang and I didn't actually get to it. They were just beginning recaps of the short program.
-
RE The Information Waitress: I don't have the poet's permission to post it, but can email a copy to anyone who wants it - DRs DakotaCelt and PennyO? After what DR Cillaliz said last night about the penalties for copyright infringement, I'm gonna be r-e-a-l careful.

No, DR WFO - it's Friday!!
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance
Good Friday song.
Not a "Good Friday" good Friday song--just a good Friday song...

Just remember, DR JoseSPiano:

Ok--when the lotto hits me! I'll take the money either way! ;) :D

Just sitting here, working on the musical, occasionally running through lines - I called Matt and asked him to just meet me at the theater for a line-through on the set - it helps more being on the set.

I just read on the internet that one of my favorite new programs of the season, BONES, has been renewed for a full 22 episodes for next year! Hooray!

I think MR BK is getting anxious in the afternoon. That is a GOOD sign.
-
Good COMCAST INSTALLER vibes for DR MBARNUM. I have had two nice ones....and a bunch of other ones.
-
Yes DR DAKOTA CELT, she is beautiful - although some might disagree on the "actress" part - but you are correct, it doesn't help the movie much.
Too bad her hair stylist wasn't told the movie didn't take place in 1965.

You need to be more adventurous, Danise! ;)

DR Elmore, how are you? I know the days after a fall like you had are much worse then the day it happened.
DR Danise, I'm walking cautiously and all the scabs still ache, but I'm fine.
I'm back from a wonderful afternoon rehearsal of the NY Pops at Carnegie Hall with Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway. Our Liz is amazing; I age and she youthens: she's slim, blonde and beautiful and as lovely as the day is long. Dear Friend BK, she sends her love. She and Ann did "Brotherhood of Man" and Liz did "Feed the Birds" and "Moon River" among others.

I have heard a couple of pieces done by Liz Callaway and she does have a beautiful voice.

A couple of pieces? JUST A COUPLE?? You, DakotaCelt, are completely depriving yourself of the wonderful talents of Elmore and BK's close and personal friend, the one and only Liz Callaway! She's got one of the most beautiful voices that I've ever heard! Very, very, very (that's three verys) highly recommended!! ;D

I just read on the internet that one of my favorite new programs of the season, BONES, has been renewed for a full 22 episodes for next year! Hooray!
I just read on TVGuide.com that Kyle MacLachlan of (formerly??...see the last couple of sentences) "In Justice" is doing a few episodes of "Desperate Housewives." How many men does Susan need to be involved with??
Scoop! Wisteria Lane Meets Twin Peaks
Former [/i]Twin Peaks G-man Kyle MacLachlan — most recently the star of ABC's now-adjourned legal drama In Justice — is joining the cast of Desperate Housewives on April 16 for a multiepisode arc. "He’s a lovelorn, single dentist who is trying to make a connection with Susan," says executive producer Tom Spezialy. "She’s already entangled with her ex-husband and Mike, so he’s very much the fourth wheel in this situation." MacLachlan will appear in a handful of episodes and it’s possible he could return in the fall. "It depends how he plays," says Spezialy. "I would think he would fit in nicely in our world." Another variable: ABC hasn’t officially canceled In Justice. Not sure what they're waiting for.

I will have ot look and raise holy cane at the BN here in Fargo. She does have a lovely voice. I fell in love with vocal talents from the pieces she did for the Anastasia soundtrack. Beautiful!! I particularly love Journey to the Past. I am impressed.
ND is not exactly the hotbed of music access. One store in Grand Forks even had The Chieftains classified as heavy metal....
I have her on my list along with several other artists. There is a Canadian singer I also like, Loreena McKennit.

If you don't want to purchase her recordings yet, you could try your local library, or if they don't have her CDs, they should have an Interlibrary Loan department that might be able to get some/all of them from other libraries around the country...unless your library has a crap ILL department. ;)

I highly recommended this movie to a professor who wanted some movies related to the holocaust for his class to watch. This movie packs a punch. It has been a number of years since I have seen it but the images remain seared in your mind. That is how powerful it is.

but that should be after the show! ;)

No local ILL is picky at the university... I can understand that. They are not happy with me at the moment due to my researchf or my paper....
I will check with local public library and it appears that they have one of Liz's CD. I will wander down tomorrow for they are already closed today...
I was also looking for Bruce's books but no libraries around here have them. NDSU used to be associated with the MN library system until the NDUS had a cob and they ordered NDSU to join the ODIN system. ODIN does not win any prizes in my book!

Francois, you can supply the proverbial bottle of champagne after the show!

:)
I think it was either a Terry O'Quinn joke...OR...a deliberate insert directed at the audience that says, "Yes! Men DO check each other out in the locker rooms!"
Really? Personally, I would have been surprised to know that Jack had eyes!

But what do they know in Dakota?! :o :o ;D 8)
NOt much at times. They had Kornog classified also as heavy metal....
They play beautiful folk music from Breton.

Francois, there is one radio station in the state that classifies Tony Orlando and Dawn as classic Rock. They play it right alongside Metallica and The Who.

Thank you, DR Ron Pulliam for the link on the EmergenC. It does seem to be like Airborne for the most part. I have to say that I swear by that when I feel a cold coming on.
Speaking of cold, we're going down to the 40'sin the morning!
"A last gasp of Winter," the weatherman said.
Talk about an understatement! ::)

The Wind Chill factor is what it's called. It wouldn't be so bad if it would go down slowly but we go from one extreme to the other all in a day's time. It was a real shockaroo to open the back door to feed Bear tonight. The wind was blowing HARD and it was COLD!
I just grabbed what I needed out of the cans and I fed him indoors tonight!!

It's been the same here! In some parts of the South of France, which have known afternoon highs of 14°C, temps are jumping to 28°C now, which are summer temperatures!
As BK would say; go know now! :D

There's Nothing Like A Male, I tell you! ;)

Well, I'm done with work. I'm off to my parents' house to watch "The Frisco Kid." My sister bought the new DVD and I haven't seen the movie in years. I have to stop off at my house first to set my VCRs because there are a lot of shows that I watch on Fridays. Later!

Enjoy the movie, DR George. You'll have to tell me if you think there was an excess of swearing in it.
-
Just starting to prepare for tonight. I've written, I've relaxed, I've quietly run lines, now I shall shave and shower and then be on my way to the theater to do a line-through on the set. After that, it's all in the hands of fate - and your excellent vibes and xylophones.

You know we'll all be here rooting for you, BK. :)

Thanks Cillaliz, Matt H and Danise. The vibes helped & I'm feeling somewhat improved today, but still very tired and sleepy

Nursie, is there an Artie's in your area I can call?
-
All joking aside, if you go from in the 80's down to the 40's, your body doesn't know what to do and it seems a LOT colder then it really is.
You do have a point Danise but for me where we have temps in the range of -25 in the winter.... that is not cold... I do understand though.
-
Hi Jane, I'm glad that your well enough to post.

Yikes! I don't think I will be visting your neck of the woods in the winter time, DR DakotaCelt!
I don't know if you've picked up on the fact that I have never seen snow. That's why I'm sort of snow-dumb. Like I thought when the snow got on your roof, you had to shovel it off. I thought it was heavy and would cave the roof in.
-
Just remember, DR JoseSPiano:
STRESSED
spelled backwards is
DESSERTS!!!
:D :D :D
Jose, good show vibes!! :)
-
Bruce, GOOD VOICE VIBES!
HAVE A GREAT EVENING!!!!
-
From François:
Nurse jane needs some nursing!
"Feel better soon" vibes to Jane!
As Tarzan used to sing:
"There's Nothing Like A Jane In The World!"
Thanks. :D
-
I just read on the internet that one of my favorite new programs of the season, BONES, has been renewed for a full 22 episodes for next year! Hooray!
:D
-
DR DakotaCelt - I used to tell students that term papers were called TERM papers because they were supposed to take a long time to complete - if they were supposed to be done at the last minute, they'd be called "cram-it-together-the-day-before-it's-due" papers. They weren't amused.
But I do work on my papers for a long time. Every day for weeks leading up to the due date, I think about my paper and I experience anxiety about my paper- I do a little bit of each of those at a time until the weekend before it is due and then I finally feel like I am prepared to write!! ;D
-
I'm so glad that you are ok, DR Elmore. :)
Me too! :D
-
Tomovoz please wish Beekay a happy birthday and good surgery vibes.

sometimes we have to
-
Nursie, is there an Artie's in your area I can call?
Just the thought makes me feel better. Good thing since there isn't an Artie's and I don't believe we can even get pizza delivered out here. ;D
-
DakotaCelt, thanks for the Deceit link.
Your paper sounds very interesting.
-
I am at home with nothing to do for the first time in a long time. I'm so excited! I thought Rodzinski would be here, but he's MIA... I think I'm going to see what movies are on demand, or maybe I'll finish watching the end of season 1 of Alias. I've been working my way through the season for about 3 years...
-
TPunk enjoy your much deserved break.
I think we will watch SKY KING tonight.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater, after which I shall return with a full report.
-
Tomovoz please wish Beekay a happy birthday and good surgery vibes.
Will do DR Jane..Thank you.
-
Excellent vibes!
-
Tomovoz might Beekay will visit us while he is recovering?
-
Keith brought home some rather tasty watermelon today, just what I needed. He must have been reading my mind.
-
'night.
-
RE The Information Waitress: I don't have the poet's permission to post it, but can email a copy to anyone who wants it - DRs DakotaCelt and PennyO? After what DR Cillaliz said last night about the penalties for copyright infringement, I'm gonna be r-e-a-l careful.
My client did much more than you are talking about.
-
Break a leg vibes to BK
-
Good preview vibes DR Jose
-
For some reason I am exhausted tonight....could it be that I have actually been working very hard? I think I'm going to take a nice hot bath and go to bed
-
Got to sign off! (I can hear a huge "AAAAAHHHH!" of relief!)
Because i need to rush to the airport if I want to see BK in Deceit!
He's gonna break the house down, with no need of a bundle of snow on the roof to crash it down!
(One has to follow the previous post exchanges to understand my pitiful prose!
Hummm... I like "pitiful prose", don't you?
Oh, is this really a question?
To be or not to be (at the theater!) that IS a question!
Pitiful prose of Washington Square!
Be there or be a round!
Theater in the round!
Theater in the square!
Theater in the Oval House!
The house of Proust where he never wrote prose that was pitiful!
Ooooooooohhh..... I'm gonna miss my plane!
(I'm gonna madam my plane would be utter nonsense, right?!)
-
You're welcome DR Jane... and Thanks for the good wishes on the paper...
Question: anyone have any idea how to measure a monitor? Mine is dying and I am seeing LOVELY shades of GREEN!!
-
Francois - I'm been actively working on a pun about the great journalist Walter Windchill, but my efforts keep making my computer freeze.
-
Windchill - I always thought his prose cold.. Wasn't he bipolar? Or is that a thaw point for his fans?
-
I guess BK's show has now started. GOod luck wishes to him as his part approaches.
-
Spent a good portion of the evening watching the men's final skate at the world championships (happened yesterday; hence no spoiler). Brian Jourbert was flawless and Stephen Lambiel was slightly less so but won with truly amazing spins, the best I've seen in a long, long time. Much, much better skating here than at the Olympics.
-
If she were still around, Miss Josephine Baker would have chilling things to say about the real Mister Winch.ll who was quite nasty to her in his time!
-
IN JUSTICE had its next-to-last show tonight, a good episode and featuring a real threat to the firm that's making each episode more and more interesting, and now it's almost over. I'm disappointed with that.
-
CONVICTION is growing on me, and I'm starting to enjoy the mix of personal and professional stories. So different from a typical DIck Wolf series, and I guess that's why it's continuing to intrigue me.
-
BRIAN! BRIAN! BRIAN!
http://brian.joubert.free.fr/uk/index.htm
Now, the guy is French and his first name is Brian! Go figure!(skating!)
-
Triple axel dance page!
-
I also watched WEdnesday night's HEIST tonight. Yes, there were some surprises and twists, but I didn't like either the cops or the thieves, and if I can't find someone to get interested in, then the show isn't going to hold my attention. I'm thinking I probably won't watch it any more.
-
Hello, everyone. Long day today.
That big winter storm we had a couple of weeks ago -- my DH rented a small plane a few days after the storm and took this photo. These mountains are visible from town (where you can see over the buildings):
-
Just read the results of the ice dancing and ladies' short program. Won't make any comments about the results so as not to spoil anyone who's watching in another time zone, but the DVR picked this up tonight, and I'll watch it tomorrow.
-
Guess I'll head down now to get some rest.
Good night, everyone!

HOWEVER.... yes,I'm back!... there's another Winchell whowas quite a character, and a Disney one at that!
Paul 'Tigger' Winchell, 1922-2005
The photo you posted DR Laura makes me think of
Climb Ev'ry Mountain!
Ooooh, that wolf is still looking at me!
That Wolf
That Wolf
That Wonderful Wolf.....
Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Face, Big Bad Face.... Nah! Doesn't work!
Make It Gay!
-
Oh, FJL's back on the scene!
-
Interesting photo....
Well, for the Arizona desert in March it sure is!!
-
There was of course Paul Windchill and that chip off the old block (of ice) puppet of his, who always had me iglood to my TV set.
Let's see what DR Tomovoz or DR Francois can do with that one. :) :)
-
While now BK must be on stage!

Beat you to it, Fred!
I tell no lie... it's only lust! :o

Oh, I missed your post above, Francois.
-
What? The Puppet Chaud?
NO! It's about chill! (Yes, i know... end of shift you know ... 6:05 pm here!
Excuses; excuses!)
-
Oh, I missed your post above, Francois.
You're the only one! ;)
-
Oh, I missed your post above, Francois.
Yes, I live the "post above" and you live the "post below"!
(What is he talking about?!)
Brian! Brian! Brian!
-
"Iglood" to your TV set???
You were confused! 'T was the fridge you'd look at!

If divarobbie is still reading, I discovered your website and have just got to ask: Do you call yourself divarobbie because you are a diva or because you seem to have so many divas (in the best sense) among your friend and business acquaintances?
We've actually emailed before, Robbie. My DH Skip Kennon wrote the score to TIME AND AGAIN and I had sent you a good review or two about Laura Benanti from some newspapers you didn't have yet, which you were kind enough to add to her site.
-
Tomovoz is too busy with domestic chores right now! he's ignoring us!
He's mopping the kitchen floor while he knows that tomorrow She of the Evil Eye comes to do the weekly cleaning!
I just don't get it! ;-)
-
While now BK must be on stage!
I am hoping everything is going well

My guess is that he's a real DIVA; look how long it took him to come back here!
Show people i tell you! ;)
-
Francois did you bring the champagne?
-
Francois did you bring the champagne?
No, but I have the glasses!
(I could have spelled that "glaces" to stay in the theme but one has to know French to get the silly pun!)
i'm cheap! I'm cheap! :D
-
Francois doesn't bring sham pain, he brings real pain (a M*A*S*H reference, in honor of BK's return to acting). :)
-

LOL!!!
-
Francois did you bring the champagne?
No, but I brought back Birdie! ;)
-
LOL!!!
Don't encourage him!
The only pain I can bring is the "pain du jour"!
Let me have the last loaf!
-
OK, I don't knead to have it. Backing off is the yeast I could do.
-
Or should that be "baking off" - that pun was at best matzo-matzo.
-

Hey, what do you know? Everything about me is real!
-
And one for Matzoh!
-
Or maybe: And one for Challah!
It is the Sabbath after all.
-
Or should that be "baking off" - that pun was at best matzo-matzo.
Joséphine would have said "baking off" if she had been asked!
-
And one for Matzoh!
What about Sadoh?!
(Oh, the pain! Ouch!)
-
No, but I brought back Birdie! ;)
tweet, tweet!!
-
Good night, all. May the Lord fulfill my Sabbath prayer for you, and I'm not fiddling around.
Oy!
-
Joséphine would have said "baking off" if she had been asked!

Or maybe: And one for Challah!
It is the Sabbath after all.
I won't budge an inch!
-
Think I'm gonna follow up on your Bring Back Birdie reference?
Well, I'm not!
-
Oops, really time to Hodel, I mean, toddle off to bed.
Further vibes to BK.
Vibes to Jose for tomorrow night.
-
napoleons??? (they are a filled doughnut here)

This is a Napoléon!

Question: anyone have any idea how to measure a monitor? Mine is dying and I am seeing LOVELY shades of GREEN!!
It's measured diagonally, like a TV.
-
THe screen or the whole monitor?
-
I'm back from my parents' house (and have been for some time), where we watched "The Frisco Kid" with Gene Wilder, Harrison Ford and BK's very own Penny Peyser. It was still a cute movie...not as funny as we'd remembered it (are they ever?? ;)), but still good.
-
THe screen or the whole monitor?
Just the screen.
-
Enjoy the movie, DR George. You'll have to tell me if you think there was an excess of swearing in it.
There was some swearing throughout the movie, but I didn't think that it was excessive. I've seen some movies that truly had an "excess" of swearing, but not this...again, to me. Harrison Ford says "she-it" a lot and Gene Wilder asks what that means. After a little bit of dialogue that I can't exactly remember, Harrison says that it's used in the same way as "oy gevalt." One think that I like about the movie is that it's not overly sentimental. There are several scenes that get you a little teary eyed, but they really don't overdo it like a lot of newer movies.

I remember that movie!! Just saw it not too long ago.... Penny Peyser, who was in the movie, our own Penny O?
-
Just the screen.
Thanks George!!
I definitely need a bigger monitor... It is only 13 inches....
-
Back from the show. What an evening! We had a smallish but good audience, and I got through it without too much craziness. I fumfered here and there, but that will get better with time, as will my timing. But, I did fine. However, what we've all been dreading the entire run happened for the first time - during the final video segment (which is actually on DVD), the DVD froze, then kept freezing and wouldn't play no matter how many times our stage manager tried to rewind and get it going. It was appalling, and poor Tammy and Matt were stuck out there and unable to do anything except finally make a joke out of it. In fact, the play basically had no ending this evening. When we took our curtain call, I stopped everything and told the audience that the ending of the play was very clever and they should come back. The crowd was great and actually, you know, it's theater and shit happens. It was pretty funny.
-
no word from bk yet...... Wonder if he survived his premiere?
-
On the main stage, it was opening night of the Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna show, It Had to Be You, so there were lots of celebs milling around and being festive, but I'll save that stuff for the notes. In our audience this evening was Mr. Jason Graae and Miss Susanne Blakeslee
-
I remember that movie!! Just saw it not too long ago.... Penny Peyser, who was in the movie, our own Penny O?
No, that's Penny Orloff.

Life happens and that is why improvisation is always good in theatre....
-
I've certainly had my share of on-stage mishaps, BK. As you know, you can only do what you can do. It will, of course, be much better tomorrow night! ;D
-
Murphy must have shown up and affected the DVD!!!
DArn ya Murphy!
-
George, we need to arrest Murphy!!!
-
Page 12 dance!!!
-
It was the previous actor, sending his bad vibes to counteract our good ones!
Well, you came through, BK. Not much you can do when some tech glitch like that happens. Handle it with grace and charm, which it sounds like you did.
-
I worked a little late tonight, on a program that should be titled "A Night Of Larry Moore" because he is all over the program. Several arrangements and other mentions...
Also on the 70, GIRLS 70 program (thanks for the kind words, FJL). Noticed Charlotte Rae had a recent credit at the El Portal Theater in LA.
On the way home, the siren's song of Popeye's Chicken on 34th Street reeled me in. And boy, was it good.
-
Yes, Rodz, it was his bad vibes....
We need to recenter and send good vibes again!~!!!
Also I think we need to arrest Murphy for the other actor invoked Murphy's law!!
-

Sounds like you had a long nite!!

It was long, but I don't want to imply that I just got in or anything. TPunk and I watched the film CENTER STAGE which is a kind of entertaining bit of cheese they filmed at Lincoln Center using several ballerinas as actors. Our heroes are battling to make the mythical "American Ballet Company." Some of the acting is apalling, lots of dialogue is overdubbed. But it is still kinda fun.
