TOD:
Y'all aren't probably going to be familiar with "my favorite Andy Williams" song, but it was on one of his late 1960s albums (don't remember the title). The song is "I Want to Be Free".
Words and Music by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart
"I want to be free like the bluebird flying by me
Like the waves out on the blue sea
Your love has to tie me, don't try me, say goodbye
"I want to be free, don't say you love me, say you like me
But when I need you beside me
Stay close enough to guide me, confide in me, oh-oh-oh-oh
"I want to hold your hand, walk along the sand
Laughin' in the sun, always havin' fun
Doin' all those things without any strings to tie me down
"I want to be free like the warm September wind, babe
Say you'll always be my friend , babe
We can make it to the end, babe
Again, babe, I gotta say
"I want to be free
I want to be free
I want to be free"
Sigh.
I have a 45 rpm that was part of the "Christmas" when I got my first hi-fi record player. It's Andy Williams singing Hawaiian songs....Blue Hawaii, Sweet Leilani and two others. I played that record THOUSANDS of times...that and the other 45 rpm....Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas" and three other songs, including the Latin version of "Adeste Fidelis" which I committed to memory and sang along with him, even in the summertime!
It would be another couple of years before I discovered film music and soundtrack albums.
