Here's a Topic of the Day suggestion (I think we may have had this or something like it, but too bad): when something bad happens, or you're in a funk, feeling blue, etc., etc., etc....what do you do to make yourself feel better?

Have you ever been robbed or had items stolen from you?
And the word of the day is: NYCTALOPIA!
Thats The Way It Was, an hourlong CBS News special honoring Walter Cronkite, delivered network televisions largest audience in prime time on Sunday, as 7.4 million viewers tuned in during the 7 oclock hour

When the show first started I thought, Oh, no--this is going to be a talking head calvacade of CBS stars but it did turn out to be a very worthy tribute to Uncle Walter. I especially enjoyed the clips of some of Cronkite's fun moments, such as the Jimmy Buffet clip and the one from the Mary Tyler Moore show.
One strange thing, in all the news reports and tributes thus far, I haven't seen any footage from Cronkite's YOU ARE THERE or THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. I hope that at some point we'll see somthing that does concentrate on his television work.

They didn't show clips, but didn't they have one little mention "Your Are There"?
Two Grecian Urns?? ;D
I was in the A.V. club, so I got to run the projector. :)

What's a Grecian Urn?
I woke up at 5 a.m. to the sound of blessed RAIN.
I was also the victim of a drive-by shooting.
Again, in Calabasas. I was out walking my dogs around ten o'clock one night. A car drove by. I heard a "pop," then it was like a spitwad hit me in the forehead.
I was very lucky. The bullet just creased me. An inch lower, and....
The cops figured it was a gang initiation.
Of course, I'm "convinced" that it was the Mob. Two days earlier, I'd sold my screenplay, DILLINGER AND CAPONE, to Roger Corman...and Capone's boys were out to get me.
::)
We are currently having A Gentle Fall of Rain.
Lovely! :)

I like to listen to music...specifically The Manhattan Transfer! I love them and have seen them in concert eight times. Technically, nine: I saw two sets in one night...and I paid twice for them, too.
Anyone else?
We watched a lot of those "You Are There" productions in school.Ditto-- AN AV GEEK!

John's oldest daughter just posted on FB that he's beginning to respond. We'll find out later just what that means.

Hmmm.... At first glance, I thought that was Siegfried and Roy. ::)
A lady friend of mine went to South Carolina last week to visit with female high school friends and to vacation with them at the beach. They had a big party one evening and one of the ladies she went to school with danced the "shag" with her husband. As soon as the dance ended, the lady collapsed. A couple of the attendees were EMT's but they could not revive her. The deceased was a member of the reunion party, so the beach trip was cancelled and everyone is attending that lady's funeral instead.

Daw, you didn't even say what this photo was from. IT'S THE SERIES PREMIERE OF "RUBY & THE ROCKITS" TONIGHT AT 8:30 PM ON ABC FAMILY CHANNEL!! Set your DVRs!!
And Matt H. neglected to list this show as well. Mark and I have watched the show online and it's really pretty darn funny. It seems like just yesterday when Mark and I were talking to Patrick after some benefit he performed at and he told us that his brother, Shaun, was writing a show for him and David to star in together. (It was actually over a year ago.) Mark and I both thought, "yeah, like that will ever happen." I'm just shocked the day is actually here. I hope it's not cancelled after three episodes.Patrick & David Cassidy:(http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2009/07/21/arts/ruby-650.jpg)

Amy, I'm curious about your comment "yeah, like that will ever happen." Did you have doubts Shaun would write this show? Is there a history...?

We also sang the Pledge of Allegiance each morning as well, but that's a story for another day. :)
Just heard a major tropical depression is on its way. That means a lot of rain. I hope it arrives after I leave on my brief trip on Thursday.
... but no one even knows who Patrick Cassidy is, despite all the work he's done. He's never really experienced that strangers-recognizing-him-in-a-grocery-store type of fame. He's has done a great job of being pretty regularly employed throughout his acting career, just not famous...
I watched last night's THE CLOSER while I ate lunch. Once again Brenda is pitted against the interfering, slightly obnoxious Captain Raydor (Mary McDonnell) who's really a pain in the butt. Glad at the outcome, but the conflict within the department with the stubborn, impractical Raydor is as irritating to me as it is to Brenda!

Raydor may be "off-putting", to put it mildly, but the logic of her position is compelling: her recitation of the consequences of LAPD's Rampart Scandal was spot-on; her concern the Brenda's tunnel-vision zeal to solve her one case could lead to events that would put in jeopardy hundreds of other cases was valid.

Raydor's parting line, "And I have my own car." shows she can play at Brenda's level.

No one notices the name at the bottom of the poster - the gal who's playing the Narrator? Hmmm. She went on to be a terrific costume designer and sometimes Academy Award-nominated actress.
Very scary, TCB. I hope they find the guy. Did you hang around to find out?

Well, according to the CastAlbumCollector (http://castalbumcollector.com/recordings/4684) site, the Amy Adams on the CD is a different Amy Adams...someone who was on American Idol. :-\

According to IMDB, they are one in the same.
I have always liked Patrick Cassidy. I only wish that he liked me in the same way.

How do you know he didn't
MBarnum, I took all my figures to the bank a few months ago to try to refi. They told me that I have a great credit score and perfect payment history but that I am self employed, so until I could show 2-3 years of tax returns I can't refinance. If I was about to default they could help me, but I pay on time every month so I get to pay a higher interest rate. It sucks.

I am afraid that even Patrick Cassidy couldn't persuade me to sit through AIDA again.
We also sang the Pledge of Allegiance each morning as well, but that's a story for another day. :)Sang?
It's not even anger, really - just a weird feeling I can't seem to shake easily. Well, there might be a little anger, in that I'd like to kill the sons of bitches. But just a little.

Just a little addendum/correction to DR MattH's On TV Tonight! listing -
Tonight's episode of "NYC Prep" on Bravo was not the finale. I think there are about three more episodes left.
Then I watched tonight's episode of TORCHWOOD - CHILDREN OF EARTH. Very exciting search and rescue operation. John Barrowman's nakedness was blurred out on the broadcast I watched. I assume it was across the network for all broadcasts, right?
