I saw a plastic donkey that did this with cigarettes.

It is quite an engineering marvel.

Would anyone who's in New York on Monday morning be interested in going to 6th Ave. with me to cheer when these folks cross the finish line:

York Tour de Pink

Me!

The LA costumes, save for the terrible gold lame trunks, were great.  The gal who replaced Jessa did as much as she could, but there's not enough color onstage and I HATE the silver tights on Zubrick and Yoni - much prefer the black pants from LA.

The color palate is earthbound, from what I can see in DR ADRIANNA PATTI'S lovely photos.

I hope there is an insert that reiterates Jessa's incompetence.  >:(

How the hell can we producers make a profit if you start discounting the damned tickets.

It's called show BUSINESS, dammit.

DR Jason has inspired me to try for my next weight loss plateau.

Slow and steady!

But the plan ain't gonna start over the next few days, with The Temptress stalking the streets of NYC!!  :)

OK, well, we're going to run a few errands and may not be back at the computer. So call me on my cell phone if anything transpires for dinner. Thai-ing one on in the Village sounds good, or anything else. I trust The Enabler and his restaurant recommendations!

And thabks for all the travel vibes, they obviously worked!

Note to anyone who wants to travel down 7th avenue around Carnegie Hall---apparently it's blocked because Bill Clinton is making a speech somewhere hereabouts. Subway is the way to go!

DR td - I thought the CD for Lorna Luft's tribute show to her mother came out a few years ago?  I think I even have a copy somewhere.  -She performed the show at the University of Richmond a couple of years ago.  It was sort of in conjunction with her appearance as Mama Rose in their production of Gypsy.  She was a guest artist for a semester.

I saw Lorna Luft's nightclub debut back in 1971 at, I believe, the Fairmont in San Francisco.  She was very good about not discussing her mother during the show; but for her encore she did "Mama a Rainbow" from MINNIE'S BOYS which ended with a soft piano refrain of "Over the Rainbow."  It was very moving.  But I really enjoyed her nightclub act.  I think she is very talented.

Good Evening!

Back from rehearsal, and it looks like I will actually be heading back down to the New Amsterdam to watch tonight's show.  I'm playing for the BIG staging rehearsal tomorrow, and since there are a bunch of visual cues I'm still not really sure of, well...

Alas, I will not be able to join the gang tonight for dinner, but...

OH!  I just looked up the info for the show you saw, Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood.  I know that show!  It was done in DC, well, in Bethesda, MD, at one of my old stomping grounds, Imagination Stage/Bethesda Academy for the Performing Arts (BAPA).  And it was written by Joan Cushing who I think still moonlights as "Mrs Foggybottom" - sort of a male counterpart to Mark Russell.

I thought Mark Russell was a male!

If you're looking for a "fun" dining experience, I suggest heading down to Korea-Town - W. 32nd Street between 6th and 5th - and try on of the Korean Barbecue places out.  My favorite is Won-Jo (23 W. 32nd) - they still use real charcoal/embers instead of the gas grill tops.  It can get a bit pricey, but most of the entrees are meant for sharing.  -And if you don't feel comfortable cooking the meat yourself, the hostesses will more be than happy to help you out.

There's also a great Korean fried-chicken place, Restaurant Forte Baden Baden (28 W. 32nd - second floor).  It's literally a Korean Beer Garden type of place.  They do serve some traditional Korean dishes, but their fried chicken is amazing (served with deep-fried garlic cloves!) - and their "large" serving is usually enough to feed three to four people.

Hmm.. Maybe I will go to dinner tonight... ;)

I notice that Zubrick is wearing silver tights in New York, but he had the beatnik style black tights in LA.

They were on sale in Brooklyn!
