Thank you. I was humming the same tune. And the word of the day is: OPPUGN!
We oppugn in Venice,
We next play Verona...
...DR Ginny, I'm not sure exactly what you were asking about the Duchess' entertainment; are you posting that in the opera, there was a guest appearance by the band? It's not an uncommon occurrence. FLEDERMAUS New Year's Eve performances for years have thrown guest artists into the party scene as antertainers.
...
And the word of the day is: OPPUGN!
Prayers for the friend of DR JOHNG.
And I guess I don't get to sing OR dance in any of the numbers.....but that's okay, I guess.

Okay? It's fantastic! Mayor Shinn stands alone!
I have signed up for Variety's online breaking news emails and I am in the know, baby.
F'rinstance, Woody Allen will be the subject of a two part American Masters this fall. Mia Farrow will narrate--not. :)

On a positive note, Sara Jean has agreed to be our Virgin Mary.
Oregon has a new law requiring carbon monoxide detectors for all rental units, which of course Betsy and I now have. We also got a couple for the new house.
Cilla, I've had basement water issues in a couple of houses. Sometimes it's something very simple, like a clogged or disconnected downspout which is dumping huge amounts of water next to a basement window, etc. Even if it's seeping through the foundation there are paints you can buy that seal the cement and make the water less likely to penetrate. If you have a high water table (which we do at the new house), you may need to put in a small sump pump (which is what we did here).

You can't unring a bell, Larry. ;D

Question for Ask BK Day...
If you were asked to come into audition for a show...
What would your uptempo song be?
Your ballad?
Monologue?
In other breaking--literally--news, we have huge Bali blinds in our living room. Because I am an idiot (technical term), when we first moved in, I thought the "wand" which makes the blinds cantilever open and closed (as opposed to drawing them like curtains) was a "twisty" wand. It turns out it's a "push up, pull down" wand. So of course I broke it. I managed to cobble it together last year with regular tape, but it broke again yesterday. I have now moved on to duct tape, which will also help in case the blinds are attacked by terrorists. :)

Okay, everybody sing...
Some people live with humongous windows,
Right in the middle of a busy street.
These people long for some window treatments,
With which they know they'll be more discrete.
Bali blinds will shield you,
Ev'ry night, ev'ry day.
In your house, from nosy neighbors,
Hide away, hide away...
The Insulation Guys should be here soon.

My dental check-up went well and I'm home from errands.
Remember when Richard, Rob, and I all applied for passports on March 16 and the clerk looked askance at my Oregon birth certificate? Well, 2/3 of our household has received their passports - can you guess who has NOT?

There's probably an investigation on you beginning once they stop wasting time and money on Obama's birthplace.
Not quite, DR Laura, but close! He, on the other hand, was NOT eating heart-healthy.
Prayers for the friend of DR JOHNG.
Thanks and thanks to all for the vibes, support and prayers. I haven't heard since yesterday, so I would assume he's stable.
Heck, it's too late for her to even be a new grandmother, isn't it?

The latest news on my friend Richard is that he was able to respond nonverbally to a directive from the doctor, which is the first they've known he is alert. He's nowhere near being out of the woods, but that's certainly a good start.
And again, thanks for the vibes.

Are any of our East Coast denizens going to see LA CAGE with Harvey Ferstein and Christopher Sieber? I would love to see that production. I will freely admit that I have a huge crush on Christopher Sieber. He may be a total jerk, for all I know, but I would swoon at the very chance of being in the same room with him.

Saturday night was going to be prom. A local clothier is going to give all the boys tuxes with no rental cost and people are getting dresses for the girls and others are donating manicures and hairstyling. I think it's cool that they are going to make sure the kids still get their promThat's great.

Got a fun 2DVD Image title today from eBay called Batmania, all about the ABC Batman series. Both docs I've watched so far have been very good, one on the show itself, the other on Adam West.
Song of Norway, in a Brazilian import edition, arrived yesterday. I have to say for all the brickbats that have been thrown at it, it really is a gorgeous looking movie, if nothing else.

I tried watching it last year when it was shown on TCM. For one thing, the print was horrible and the performances weren't much better. Very stagey and the sets were cheap.

At about this time, ninety nine years ago today, the SS Titanic had already struck an iceberg that would, in only two hours and thirty minutes, send the "unsinkable ship" to its grave two and one half miles below.

A very nice gesture. I just hope that none of the high school boys dampen this generosity, by not returning the"free" tux.

It's a town of 1600 people and the high school is consolidated with a couple other small towns. They wouldn't keep it, everyone in town would know it and would get it back. Another interesting thing, yesterday the kids from Parkersburg-Aplington, who survived massive tornado a couple years ago came over in busses to help clean up the Mapleton high school.
Bk - It strikes fear in my heart to read that the tree people are going around killing the pansies in your neighborhood!

DR Ginny--You should be receiving a letter if your birth certificate is not adequate. It will be rejected if it is not a certified copy (meaning it has the signature of the Registrar, an original seal and a file date within one year of birth). Also, hospital certificates are not acceptable. You may want to check online to see how to order a new certificate from Oregon.
I had expected to hear some news today, but it is not going to happen this week. My sister had blood work done by her doctor, two weeks ago. Soon afterward, she got a call from the doctor's office, telling her that they were referring her to one of the Pacific Northwest most famous and respected oncologists and hematologists.
The test results showed elevated liver enzymes and extremely elevated white blood count. There was a third thing, but my airhead sister admits that after the white blood count, she kind of tuned out. She was supposed to see the specialist today, and quite frankly, I was expecting the worse. There was a scheduling mix-up, so the appointment has been rescheduled for hopefully next week.
So, for the moment I can put my worries and prayers for her on hold; and get back to trying to figure out to manage to find the rest of the rent before Monday

It co-stars Ginger Rogers and always makes me feel good. :) Just don't watch the Debbie Reynolds/Eddie Fisher version :(
Noooo, I don't think so. How about some guava oatmeal?that would probably work, too. I can't believe how great they smell. The aroma just fills the house.

I want to go to DC to see A TIME TO KILL.....alas, not going to happen. No time and no money,.I'd love to go to "Follies." But it ain't gonna happen for the same reason. Time is a four-letter word. And money might as well be.
Well, I need to head out and go to our last rehearsal. Our final dress is a $5 preview, and I don't doubt that it'll be packed. Hopefully, everything will go well!
Until later!
