Thanks for the info DR JENNIFER....I put in -domain at Amazon and got The Seven Keys to Happiness for FREE.

No problem. I also just found a very interesting site. Along the left side are all kinds of free books and 99 cents books.

DR Jennifer - keep your Kindle's wireless turned OFF except when you need it.  Saves the battery...

Correct!  AND don't leave the wireless option turned on...that uses more battery power than if it's turned off, too.

What is the difference between keeping the wireless off. And Don't leave the wireless on that uses more battery than if it's turned off??

I am leaving the wireless on off whenever i'm not browsing. But i love being able to browse in bed!

So, what's for dinner?

I had the Manakintowne Salad and Cornmeal Encrusted Oysters at TJ's in the Jefferson Hotel.

DR George. the link you gave is the same as the instructions on my kindle. But i didn't see any mention about charging it. Do you see anything about that? How many bars does yours usually have when you charge it. And how long do you charge it for.

Mine came with a plug for the wall. So i am just going to charge it that way. Although not sure how long to do it for (is overnight fine?).

When you're using the wireless to search/browse, that's fine.  It's if you're just reading, then you don't want to have the wireless on because it uses more battery power.  The website where I got mine says, "A single charge lasts up to one month with wireless off. Keep wireless always on and go for up to three weeks without recharging."

*And I was once again reminded of the crazy food and restaurant tax in the City of Richmond. There's the Virginia State Tax + City of Richmond Tax + City of Richmond Food Tax (a.k.a. The Baseball Stadium Tax). All in all, I think it comes to something like 14.5%!!! -Which, on the bright side(?), makes it easy to figure out the tip.

I have made a batch of shortbread cut-outs that we'll decorate tomorrow afternoon when DN/G Lauren comes for a visit.  Rob and Mary Linda were here for a while before heading off to a potluck dinner at their church.  Richard and I had chicken tortilla soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and I'm about to make a batch of pecan snowball cookies.

Hmmm, this sounds a bit suspicious.

The Kindle user's guide says that it should take less than three hours to fully charge it and the charge indicator light (at the on/off switch) will turn green when the battery is fully charged.  The battery icon at the top right will have a line making it look like it's broken to indicate that the battery isn't fully charged.

The "bars" are indicators of how powerful your wi-fi connection is.

Or just charge it more often. ;D  I usually charge my Nook every morning.  For our trip I have turned the wireless off & am hoping I have enough battery for the wait in the airport & our 8 hour flight.

Well, I guess vacation didn't start today.  I went to storage, got the charts, got them Xeroxed, have chosen and/or assigned almost all the songs, had lunch with Alet, and have been trying vainly to organize the CD closet and got half the stuff in there off the floor.  I would venture to say there's probably 150 CDs there that are still sealed.  I don't know when I'll have the chance to listen, and I think I'm just going to take some of the marginal stuff I get free and go trade it in because I know I won't like it (most of the cheesy 80s stuff).

It turns out the reason I didn't receive THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE is because I didn't order it.  ::) I still find it unacceptable that it wasn't sent to me and I am filing a PayPal complaint forthwith.   :P

My wife and I just finished listening to THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE.

We loved it.  The songs were some of the best I've heard in some time.  Very moving.

However, I can understand why the show would not be a success.

Thanks for making the CD available, BK.

Well, I'm off.  I'm working concessions for a performance by The Klezmatics.  I won't get to see the whole performance, but I'm sure that I'll get to see a lot of it.  It should be a great show!

Be back later. :D
