Edi, making light of something serious is often a good thing. ;DNetFlix doesn't have it.  I'll check if any I can find it locally.  The plot of "Expiration Date" sounds familiar.  I wonder if you mentioned it before.

...The JOYOUS thing here is that we live in a country with Freedom of Speech, guaranteed by LAW.

That freedom includes the right to speak your mind over such nonsense as the teddy bear issue.  If someone is offended, he has every right to say so.  But not at the expense of silencing the other voice.

Abandon that freedom and we will all be subjugated to voodoo nonsense the likes of which will destroy the world.

Now, how do we go about explaining this to our nation's lawyers?

Because there are people in our very nation who will sue other people over displays of religious interpretations of Christmas.

And this extends to the music that we listen to, as well.

Listen carefully to the muzak piped through the speakers at the malls, and at your other favorite shopping places.  You will hear Christmas music played constantly from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day.

What you will not hear is Christmas carols.

This is because the people who program the muzak have been cowed into submission, fearing that someone will take offence at the carols, at the suggestion that the holiday has a religious interpretation.  Thus, we who work the stores must listen to endless repetitions of "Silver Bells" and "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" and "Jingle Bells" and "Santa Baby" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "White Christmas" and "Blue Christmas" and "It's the Hap-Happiest Time of the Year" and on and on over and over with a limited repetoire because we must never include anything that speaks of Christ because someone might be offended!  And sue!

I just get so sick of it.  Bleh.

S. Woody:  Are you guys expecting SNOW?  :D
No.  Right now it's sunny and bright, but yesterday we had rain.  It didn't get cold enough for snow.  I think that comes from our living right on the coastline... well, close enough, there's a marshland that extends into our back yard.  In any case, Rehoboth's winters are mild in comparison to much of the rest of the DelMarVa peninsula.

Although I do have my snow shovel, a Christmas present der Brucer gave me when we first moved here.  It gets used maybe once or twice a year.  (There's an elderly fellow living across the street, whose driveway I like to clear in case he needs medical attention, so I get more exercise than just shoveling our own drive.)

The arrest of the British teacher was ridiculous & scary.  Out of respect for the Muslims around the world who protested & were horrified, I felt the cartoon of the pig naming was inappropriate.

I’m having difficulty posting, off to do those errands.

Which is much better news than the sky being up, and you being blue.

Something astounding happened today.  I went to Borders with a 40%-OFF-ANY-DVD-BOX-SET-IN-STOCK coupon, and returned to work having purchased nothing.  Nothing appealed!

Oh, BK, you gave me the perfect set-up!

It Is My Pleasure to Announce...

Bruce, those clever, devoted DRs of yours have been up to something special for your birthday. Oh, yes, we've been busy. Your birthday present from the DRs will find you on the evening of Dec 8th.

May it bring you much enjoyment!

One of my posts got lost. I was telling Ron that I may tease him, but I respect his right--and his family's--to eat all the See's candy they wish!

Technically, the sky is falling.  The winter solstice isn't until Dec. 22nd this year.  Therefor, it is still fall.

If you can wait until January 22nd (one month after the winter solstice), Torchwood will be released!
