Best thing about the FIDDLER number was the steadicam track of Molina from outside Radio City down the aisle and up onto the stage. He did exhibit great poise in talking quickly and moving a LONG distance to get up on that stage.

Yeah, but I'm still amazed at Jackman being able to sing out loud while doing the high kicks in the opening.

I am wearing faded red Bugle Boy jeans shorts, brown socks with blue stars, and a purple t-shirt.  Should I put on a tie before the Tony Awards start?

Weird little moment with Kristin Chenoweth. Didn't really understand why she was there. I thought it was leading into the WICKED number, but, no, she was just flirting with Hugh Jackman.

What then?  He should have had his assistant come out to flirt with him?

Tonya Pinkins has power, but her voice is in shreds. The angry first half was often flat and tatty. The second half, softer in sound and more poignant, was much better.

I'm not sure that number is going to sell lots of tickets for the show.

As for the Tony Bennett "Lullaby of Broadway" - why?

JR - I think a subtle bow tie would complete the ensemble.

That's why I said he was the real deal. This man has REAL musical theater talent.

Not a Joan Rivers here (I'm not even a Milissa Rivers), but I will say that Chita looked particularly nice in her white gown.

Renee ("If you need help, here I am") Zelweiger is sitting next to Rob Marshall.

DR George - When I've found myself in a blank VHS tape pinch, I've found that CVS, Eckerd, 7-11, etc., has tapes.  So, if you're not particular about a certain brand...  But with a Costco only 2 miles away... Does your Costco stay open past 6:00 on Sunday nights?

I guess we'll find out...

Yes, you will.  I thought that they closed at 5:30, but people were still there just moseying about at 5:20.  And after I got a couple of sub sandwiches at Port of Subs (practically next door), Costco was still open at 5:45.  The hours must have changed.  Also, there is no longer a 7-11 anywhere near here (the only one closed several years ago) and I've never heard of CVS or Eckerd.

Anyway, while at Costco I got (total impulse buy, I know) a caramel flan.  We'll see how it is.  I like the ones that I've gotten at Mexican restaurants, but I've never gotten a giant, Costco-pie-sized one for $11.99.  Ounce for ounce, it's definitely cheaper than at a restaurant.

"Defying Gravity" was good, not great. Can't wait to see it in its own theater with all the effects.

Have a hankie, Jose.  Blow your nose.

Loved  "Defying Gravity".  I still wish I had taken my binoculars when I saw “Wicked”.  I will go see it again, if/when it goes on tour.

I couldn’t wait and started the book last night.  I’m enjoying it so far.

Nicole Kidman is wearing her curtains with a weird neckline.  Whew!  Makes her look even skinnier!

And it's neckties NOT tuxes for the guys.  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.   I am taking my bow tie off.

GREAT OPENING NUMBER!  Busy and a LOT of fun!

"Defying Gravity" - hmm.. I think the "effect" went off early - or at least it was modified for the telecast - or it just doesn't work on TV and the multiple cameras.. Hmm..

This part is cute--and funny--Officer Lockstock and Little Sally from Urinetown are explaining the procedures for the nominees and winners.  I'm glad I left the SnagIt recorder on.

I forgot to turn off my audio recorder and actually got this!  It was pretty darned funny, especially the comment about meeting Hugh Jackman! ;) ;D ;)

Not to "brag", but when I saw WICKED from the 7th row, center, "Defying Gravity" was truly electrifying.

Well, at least they showed clips from BIG RIVER just now...

Kristen Ch....gained a bit of weight there, girlfriend.  Lovely backless dress on the winner.

But all of the nominees are dressed beautifully.  No dumb Hollywood couture!

First commercial two nice acceptance speeches.

Puff Daddy - if he acts like he reads....whew!  Phylicia looking regal so that people don't think she dresses like her character in the show (the Audrey Meadows syndrome).

Everyone seems to be having a great time.

I was surprised they used "Swing!" instead of "Conga!" for WONDERFUL TOWN. It seemed to be lacking fire.

Gosh, I sound so critical, but I AM enjoying the show. It's just that the numbers aren't electrifying.

There have been some surprises in the awards, that's for sure.

BTW, loved puppet Rod flirting with Hugh Jackman.

Wait a minute - tuxes are back....make up your mind.

And what is with Sigourney Weaver's dress?  Black criss cross....cut WAY low and hanging down in the back and up to Honolulu in the front.  Damn...I wish the people doing hems would make up their minds.

It does work so much better in the actual show, but then there's also the advantage of all the build up to it.  It is an ideal musical scene and a terrific first act finale.
