Oh my DRMATTH has hit the nail on the head precisely....Hugh Jackman is the REAL DEAL.
If Peter Allen had REALLY looked like that instead of 10 miles of bad Australian Road, I might have liked his music more....yes I am that shallow...or was.

Oh....and God is passing out Tony Awards again....and a more self-aggrandizing acceptance speech I haven't heard in a long time.

Not impressed with the opening song...but they pulled it off marvelously in spite of it

Very hyperactive opening.  Hate Radio City for these awards, and if Mr. Idiot Director cuts to that high angle shot one more time I shall put my foot through the television.  Hated the dress of the supporting actress winner.  Glad the supporting actor won.  Hate the patter.  Hate the cutting to only people they think TV viewers will recognize.  Otherwise, it's moving right along.

On all counts: Agree. And I'm not even watching.

I will say - that for me - Bernadette Peters had the prettiest dress....so far.   And she was very pleasing in her presentation.  It's just the hair...the hair...the hair....

Did anyone (else) notice that during the opening number, Hugh was not wearing his wedding ring and right after the commercial, (when he is wearing the tux), he has his wedding ring on.  Just an observation. ::)

OMG - I just realized what this show needs....NOT Mary J Blige....it needs Guy Haines and Brent Barrett singing "PITIFUL PENNILESS BUMS".....

Third speech of the evening and I'm already sick of hearing them...is that a bad sign?

Okay how to do this without spoilers. I can do it!

I liked the opening number, especially how they incorporated the casts from so many shows.

I HATED Tony Bennett and Mary J. Blige.  I wouldn't mind seeing pop performers singing songs from this season.  But why do we need to cut out BIG RIVER and hear songs from 30 years ago???

Well, I'll be back... it's kind of neat/weird/confusing getting updates from the various time zones... But in the meantime I need to give my laptop a chance to "rest"...

Did not like Laura linney's outfit.

Favorite Acceptance speech: Best Actress in a musical.

Oh and re: that thingie with Kristin (at the beginning of the show). Has that happened yet?  I think it was just to give her a chance to sing (since she doesn't get much time in the Wicked number).  Also it was their attempt at cute banter.

Here's a question:

Are we pro-Jackman as a performer, or anti-Jackman as a performer?

With all these digs about his personal assistant, it seems the mob mentality is out to crucify him based on innuendo and little to no fact.

Just an observation about the tenor of things.

And PPS:  Why would it matter one way or the other?

Guy and Brent were available, we TOLD them we were available, but noooooo, they had to have Tony Bennet and Mary whoever she is.

Always fun to see the Fiddler staging, but Mr. Molina, while fine in the looks department, has not a drop of ethnicity about him, and therefore I'm not interested in seeing his Tevye.

There were definitely some interesting turn of events.  At least not a total bore.

I'm trying to remember who had the best dress.  I did like Sarah Jessica Parker's dress.

There is one nominee's dress who I think I would have liked.  But I only saw it from the sitting down position (I won't say who it was, because then you'll know she didn't win).  But it was one of the Best Actress in a musical nominees.

Majorly pro.  Was just trying to be funny.

Welcome fourteen GUESTS!  They can't give out very important awards on TV, but they CAN do lame bits like the one with Kristin.  Totally a time waster.  Skammen.

Damn them, damn the all to hell.  I tell you, Guy and Brent were ready, willing, and able, not necessarily in that order.  It's been six minutes, are the commercials over yet?

DR Jay: I thought the thing with Kristin in a bubble was really cute actually.

The funniest line of the show was actually the banter with Nathan Lane and Sarah Jessica Parker (when they presented).  Look for it.

I'm actually PRO-jackman;  i wish that they had let him rest before recording THE BOY FROM OZ, 'cos he sounds tired and flat on the recording - - and it's not part of the character he's portraying.
I love his OKLAHOMA!; i  think he's one of the most charming hosts ever on the Tony awards. . .and, like my friend in Cincinnatti, found him to be extremely gay tonight. . .well, maybe he had just finished viewing GIGI.

SJP was well dressed - even with that damn THANG on her chin.

Wait my TV changed itself to American Idol...dammit....oh no wait, that's Mary J Blige....OMG....Bleh!

RLP....we are pro Hugh Jackman...and we are making observations.  Who else would hold it - Miss Golden Globes....

Maybe Guy and Brent should have just shown up at Radio City.  It couldn't hurt.

I am conflicted about Laura's dress.  I liked the jacket but not the neckline.  If I may express myself, RLP....

Can someone on the West Coast tell me which awards they have given out so that I can talk about them.
