I slept really late, ten-thirty, and awoke to twelve e-mails from the co-author of the long musical.  The only one I felt was worth responding to was one in which he said he'd thought about two drastic suggestions I made and that they didn't work for him, but that he's willing to do some serious cutting in those two areas.  I wrote him back and said that if he was not willing to come here with an open mind on Tuesday that I was canceling the session and we'd just do the show with whatever cuts he wanted.  I reminded him that I've been asking for these drastic things for six months and every time this was his answer - well, it still doesn't work and if he cannot see that drastic measures are needed, then he will never have a show and I'll stage the reading and be done.

Just tell him: "You cut what you love."

It must be Marilyn Cooper on my DVD - because it surely isn't Marcia Lewis.

And here's the full cover with the flap wraparound on the right.

Now it just looks like you're sitting on an amputee.

;D

Grant did a great job - especially with "reconstructing" the chair and rig.

;D

yes, great job!

I finished THE SCARLET CLAW when I went downstairs (after putting away the already folded laundry and cleaning my bathroom, the usual Sunday rituals).

Gerald Hamer does a fine job as his various characters in the movie.

There was an audio commentary with this film, so I started it again and listened to about 20 minutes of commentary. I had heard it before, but not for quite some time. I enjoyed it.

Then I put in the HD-DVD of PRIDE & PREJUDICE (latest film version) and watched it yet again. I always came away with a good, warm feeling after seeing it.

I ended my evening with this week's episode of SPARTACUS. Two shocking deaths this week, and I was so sorry about both of them.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do YOJIMBO on Blu-ray tomorrow or start on MATT HUSTON which will take me three days to complete.

And I'm expecting GENTLEMEN BRONCOS from Fox on Blu-ray this week at some point (it comes out Tuesday), so that may have something to do with my plans and schedule, too.

I watched SHE'S BACK ON BROADWAY this evening.

It's one of the better color transfers from the Warner Archive.

Although I didn't think the musical numbers were anything special, I did enjoy the picture.

Actually, it surprised me.  I thought it was going to be a musical comedy, but it was a drama about a musical.

I was also surprised that Gene Nelson, who was billed second to Virginia Mayo, had so little to do.

Bob Hilliard, who co-wrote the songs, was once (very briefly) a publicity client, but it was so long ago that I don't recall much about him.

Saw an old movie last week. I had not seen this movie in years but I have seen several stage renditions of it. I watched THE CHILDREN'S HOUR with Shirley MacLaine and Audrey Hepburn. It also had a very young James Garner.

I thought it was well done.

Hmmm... I wonder if the soundtrack to "The Children's Hour" is available anywhere?  ;)

I have been relatively impressed with THISTV... The films have been really crisp and clear.
