Well, today is going to be a very, very, VERY (that's three verys) long day for me.  My house is...how shall I say this?...very cluttered. ::) And today, my mom (Rosemarie) is going to come over and help (make, actually) me clean the upstairs rooms in my house (I also took Monday off from work, just in case we need the extra time).  She came over a couple of weeks ago to help (make) me clean my downstairs and fortunately, it's still clean (my mom has been watching "Horders" :o and doesn't want me to end up like that).

So, now we will tackle the room where I spend all of my time.  My computer is here, my TV, some CDs and so much other stuff...that it's just become a big room of stuff.  The problem isn't that I don't want to let go of stuff, but that I'm a procrastinator...which I've said before (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it ;)).  And I don't want to misplace things that I need, like a bunch of CDs that I've checked out from the library, as well as other important papers that I have just lying around.  Whenever I've tried to clean up in the past on my own (a Les Miz reference), I'd put important/semi-important stuff in boxes and then forget which boxes have important stuff in them or not go through the boxes again or forget that I had important stuff in any boxes. :-\ So I also have a lot, and I mean a LOT of organizing to do, which will take up more time than the actual cleaning/de-cluttering.

The upshot will be that if anyone comes to visit while seeing The Brain From Planet X (or my aunts and cousins who might visit this summer!), I will actually allow people visit my house! ;D

Good morning, all! I was up at 6:30 since I want to be at Toyland bright and early, around 8:30. I've got some work to do as well as some preparation for Tuesday when I tackle edits with my friend Skip Kennon, who is stepping in as co-editor on BABES IN TOYLAND, Vol. 2, and THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER. My original colleague dropped out of the project around this time in 2008 to become musical director for second-rate British Sondheim revivals, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, which I thought inferior in casting to the original, and now A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

After I return from Toyland, I've got two more cartons to pack with books, and I know which ones are heading to Ohio.

My next post will be from Toyland.

Some clutz"?  Where exactly were you doing the baking? Or was a that a way of not self-incriminating yourself?

Nope it wasn't me. We were baking in the kitchen.  But someone else decided it would be a good time to refill the sugar. And then proceeded to drop the newly filled container entirely on my niece.

DR Jennifer - Does your niece have a favorite sport? athlete?

I'm not sure. RE: sports in general she mostly watches with her dad.  So she gets to see the same teams he watches. His favorite teams are the Pittsburgh steelers and the boston celtics. So she knows names like Paul Pierce,

Re: the olympics. She didn't say she had a favorite. Although she really liked the short track speedskating. And she really liked the snowboard cross racing (where 4 snowboarded at the same time).  And she was sort of obsessed with the name of the guy who won gold yesterday in snowboarding, Jasey Jay. But i don't think she really has a favorite athlete.

And because she is taking skating she also likes the figure skating.  But truthfully she has been pretty excited about every event final she has watched. I've never heard anybody cheer like her.

Oddly enough yesterday i was watching the final races of snowboarding and team pursuit long track speed skating alone with my niece. My sis was watching in another room. And after she was like "i'm glad you were watching with her because sometimes she is always talking during the race asking questions so i can't hear." Yet I loved watching with her. We were both cheering at the same time and screaming!

Greetings from Toyland!

The reason I am primarily here has not occurred: there are no printouts of things be edited with Skip on Tuesday. Since I was told on Thursday afternoon that the printouts would be waiting, I am quite puzzled.

And pissed.

re: the figure skating exhibition last night.

To me it seemed like some of them know how to perform at a show like this. And some have no clue.

Personally I would rather either see a) their actual routines from the competition or something with some difficulty or b) something very entertaining.

There were a bunch of performers who did either a or b. But there were so many who were so boring!

I have to say i loved that japanese/russian pair. They were so fun and funny and very entertaining!  And i loved the finale (both with the canadian ice dance gold medalists and then when they brought everybody out).

I can't believe the Olympics are ending today. Only the big hockey match and then the Closing Ceremonies.

Yesterday was quite eventful for canada. We won 3 gold medals. I don't think we've ever won 3 gold medals on one day.  And I am completely stunned that although we are 3rd in the medal total (25 with one more today in hockey), we have the most golds of any team (13 with possibly one more today). How is that even possible?

Okay one more funny story since i probably won't get to post today.

My sister is reading the Jackie Collins book, "Poor Little Bitch Girl". My 4 1/2 year old niece is obsessed with book titles. So she asks my sister what her book is called. My sister tells her "Poor Little Girl".  Later that night my niece looks at the book again and asks my sister, "what did you say your book was called?"  My sister tells her "Poor Little Girl".  So my niece turns to her and says, "but then what is that "B" word ... B- I-T-C-H." :)

(yep she really spelled it out like that!). We had to leave the room we were both laughing so hard.
