Well, you've read the notes, the notes had speed and traction, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they would have come home ages ago, but they're driving a Peugeot.

Happy happy birthday to dear Danise
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I have a feeling since I'm going to have to leave for the airport in about three and a half hours, I'm not going to go to sleep tonight. -Which would actually be "good" - since I usually don't sleep on planes, and with a 13-hour flight from Detroit to Nagoya... In coach... Well... Just sayin'. ;)
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR DANISE!!!!!
-
And I, too, watched the videos.
-
OH! And part of the reason I'm not sleepy right now is that I just found the set of electrical plug adapters that I bought back in 2002 when I went to Australia! I had put them into a small travel satchel, but just wasn't sure where I had placed said satchel. Well, after only five minutes of looking, I found it! YEAH!
-
I am pooped!!! I had a call from my handyman this afternoon asking if he can deliver the display case for my dining room tomorrow morning. (this is what led to the whole painting the dining room idea) I said yes, because I have time in the morning to do it. So I spent about 5 hours straight taping, painting, moving furniture and boxes and I'm done for the night. Tomorrow morning I just need to carry a few things down the basement and run the vacuum and I'll be ready for the delivery.
Now I don't really like the carpet in there. It was here when I moved in. So....I may see if my handyman can help me take out the old one. I can leave a bare wood floor until I find the right rug.
-
I'll post photos tomorrow. too tired to even do that tonight. I've showered and taken my Aleve. I'm about ready to hit the hay
-
I did find out today that I have a deposit missing at the office. I called both banks I use and it didn't go into the wrong account. I have everything written down, it just never went into my account. I'm not going to panic until I search my desk at work. I looked everywhere I can think of. It consisted of State and Federal Checks, so if I can't find it, I'm hoping I can get the checks reissued.

Happy Birthday Danise!

Good Morning, once again.
Greetings from Terminal 4 at JFK!
*Where there happens to be a duty-free shop that sells almost exclusively chocolate, including English Cadbury. Who knew? And I have to say that Terminal 4 is pretty nice. Alas, that means no carpets to photograph. ;)
-
DR Cillaliz - I hope your deposit/checks turn up.
Didn't Lucy Ricardo once leave her tax return under her desk blotter? ;)
-
In other news...
I ended up not sleeping at all last night, well a few hours ago. However, not only did I find my travel electrical adapter, but I also sorted through and purged a whole slew of vitamins, supplements and OTC medications. Some had even expired back in late 2007!
-I'm pretty sure I'll be sleeping through most of my flight to Detroit, and I'm just glad that I woke up on the A train before I reached JFK. ;)
-
But you never found the elusive keys?
-
I did get a little worried once I stepped into the terminal: I saw a lot of long check-in lines. Thankfully, the Northwest line was basically non-existent, and I was checked in in about 90 seconds. The security line went fast too. The longest part of the process was putting my shoes and belt back on and getting my laptop bag re-packed.
Now I'm just waiting at the gate and wondering where everyone else is. Boarding is supposed to begin in about 15 minutes, but there's only about 10 people here, and the flight is supposedly sold-out.
-
But you never found the elusive keys?
Nope.
Not yet. ;)

RE: DRs Michael S and Jose's iPod album art discussion:
I have no idea how iTunes comes up with some of the album art that it does. Last week when I had to move and consolidate two parts of my music library, I lost a lot of the album covers. I let iTunes search for all of them and, for the most part, it did a pretty good job. I was not satisfied on some--it would occaisionally show a greatest hits or a cheapo amalgamated cd cover, but at least the artist was correct. But for some others--sheesh! The B'way GREY GARDENS had the cover for LONE STAR LOVE. Art Blakely at Birdland Vol 2 had the cover for THE BIRDCAGE soundtrack. And, of course, the supplemental disc of the CHICAGO 10th anniversary CD had the cover to the group Chicago's Greatest Hits.

My Mustang (not a convertible) was a complete lemon once the first thing went wrong with it (after about two years). The water pump was the first thing to go, and then it was just a series of repairs. I couldn't wait to get rid of it.

Good Morning, once again.
Greetings from Detroit (DTW)!
...Where I just remembered that I had been here once before. I believe I had to connect through here to either get to or from Memphis (Northwest Airlines hubs). And I seem to recall running madly through the terminal to get to my gate only to find that the flight had already left. I think. In any case, it's a pretty nice airport. Hopefully it will stay "nice" over the course of my three hour layover.

Very nice water pressure in the shower here - that's usually my biggest complaint in NY hotels.
-
The Mail program is really spazzing out in NY - it's frequently showing all accounts as "offline" even though when you check them in preferences they're all "online". So, I have no idea if mail is coming in or not.
-
Best car: My Corolla. 175,000 miles on it, and it has never given me any trouble. We also have a 1990 Honda that was my mom's that has never given us any trouble.
Worst car: The Chevrolet Cavalier we bought my son. We finally signed it over to the kidney foundation with the promise they would sell it for parts. We also gave them $50 to tow it to a junkyard because we felt so bad about giving them a piece of crap.
-
I shall now be on my way to rehearsal.

That just means that the wireless signal is spotty, and that Mail sometimes can't "find" the mail when it goes to look for it (automatically). A manual refresh, at least, is easy.

-
bk - I believe Virgin America is the only airline to commit to having wireless access on all their planes. And, in fact, IIRC, they accomplished that goal last week - at least for all cross-country flights. Other airlines are supposed to follow suit sooner or later.
*My friend, Andy, flew Virgin last week and tried out the wireless service. He said it was good, but it is prone - by nature - to some dropouts. If you go to Virgin America's website, there's a video demo of how it all works.

The Other TOD:
Favorite car: My current--a '98 Toyota Camry. It was the first (and thus far, the only) brand-new, off-the-lot car I ever purchased and it still rides like a dream. I think about trading it in and getting something new, but then I think--what for? It's still in excellent condition and it's terrific on gas. And if I did trade it in I would not get much for it due to its age. So right now I plan on keeping it until I drive it into the ground.
Worst car: An '84 Ford Tempo. Ugh! That one was a total disaster! It constantly needed emergency repairs. I sunk more money into that car that it was possibly worth. And it was ugly, too--it looked like a beige dinosaur egg on wheels.
-
DR Cillaliz - Thank You, and No Worries. Decorating takes a good bit of concentration. -And your house really is coming together nicely.
Thanks. I've done 8 rooms now. Other than the basement it's mostly been wallpaper removal, paint and tearing out carpeting. I did have the joy of tearing out the mirrored wall tiles in one of the upstairs rooms though, lol.
I have to take a break now, though. It's physically very hard on me. I'm not sure if it's allergies to the paint or just working too hard without stopping or both, but once a project is finished it's a while before I'm ready for another.
I'm still amazed at the difference painting the walls makes. It's such a major change for relatively little cost.
-
Think I'll go run my errands. I'm almost out of cat food. I"m afraid they won't let me back in the house if I don't have some with me next time I return
I think you should be more afraid if they DO let you back in.

Thanks for the vibes for DN David. I talked to Jhvw today. Due to some of the previously alluded to drama, David is back living at home and jhvw is going to be taking care of him during his recovery. For those who don't know, they are twins. Jon is very happy to be able to help him out. David is planning to call everyone at some point today, so I'm looking forward to talking to him before tomorrow.
Tomorrow his whole family....well his parents and brothers...will be at the hospital during the entire surgery and will take turns sitting with him after the surgery. He's in a lot of pain right now and really can't wait to have the procedure done.

That made me laugh out loud!
I'm seeing Next to Normal tonight. I don't think I'll be doing much laughing out loud.
-
TOD Cars:
Ok, I have to say the best car I've ever owned is my Prius. I had the 2002 model, but it didn't have a hatchback and the back seats didn't go down, so although it was very reliable it had it's limitations. My 2005 is a dream. It doesn't have the backup camera like the new ones have, but I'm rarely in a situation that I would need that. I've almost had it 4 years and so far have had no problems at all and the gas mileage is great.
Before the Prius I had a jeep Cherokee and a couple blazers before that. Before that a Nissan Sentra Sport Edition and before that a Dodge Aries K before that a 1970 Mercury Montego (I think it was a 1970, it had a pointy nose on it) and my first car was my grandpa's 1969 Ambassador. It had velvet interior that he covered with plastic seat covers.
Anyway, I've never really had a lemon.
-
DR Ben - Glad that I could "provoke" a laugh and a smile. We all need a bit of levity during the course of our day.
*And since you'll be seeing NEXT TO NORMAL tonight... Enjoy the show. I'll be seeing it - and a bunch of other shows - once I get back to NYC (for more than 48 hours).
-
Time to go to Petco....
-
As I've said many times I haven't had a car for 29 years and after Anthony's latest problems with the Ford Focus (which, btw, is a good car) I'm even more happy that I don't have one.
-
I believe the various car issues I had while I was in Charleston was, more or less, an indication that I'm better off not owning one now.

Well, they're going to start boarding my flight in about 45 minutes. However, since it's a sold out flight, I'm sensing they may start earlier if they can. I want to stretch my legs for a bit before this flight segment, about 13 hours. I'm not sure I'll be able to check in during my two-hour stopover in Nagoya, and by the time I get to Manila it will be 10:45pm (there). -At least the time difference between NYC and Manila is 12 hours, very easy to figure out.

Well, the best laid plans and all that....
I was planning on having a free day today, and what do I find on my front porch but A BUG'S LIFE on Blu-ray, so, of course, I had to put my relaxation plans on hold and let this be a work day.
-
If anyone had an unanswered question from yesterday, please ask it again.
An unanswered question for BK from one of last night's videos: What IS the biggest flop that is displayed on Joe Allen's walls?
Maybe Moose Murders.
-
Lots of people don't like A BUG'S LIFE, but I've always found it endearing, and this time around I found it brimming with throwaway wit by the bucketful.
No surprise that the Blu-ray is eye-poppingly gorgeous with rich, rich colors and so sharp and detailed it almost gives you a headache.
Terrific character voices too: Dave Foley, Phyllis Diller, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jonathan Harris (who steals the show), Kevin Spacey, and on and on. Who even knew Hayden Pantierre when she voiced the role of Dot and now one of the stars of HEROES? And Madeline Kahn and Richard Kind and David Hyde Pierce and so many others.
Sound is DTS-HD MA, and the home theater was shaking during those grasshopper attacks with all the low bass. Wow!
-
Back from rehearsal. The sun was coming out and it was very muggy as I walked from 24th St. to 63rd or wherever the ASCAP building is. By the end of rehearsal, pouring rain. Unbelievable. Naturally, when it is pouring rain you can't get a cab - where a mere two hours prior every cab was empty. I did manage to get a cab at 59th, so that was good.
-
Then I started working on the bonus features, but there are lots of them, and I'm only about 2/3 of the way through them. There is still lots more to see.
So I'll be working on that undoubtedly until UGLY BETTY begins this evening.
-
Rehearsal was rough. To save money, the singer took up an offer from Michael Kerker at ASCAP to rehearse in their conference room for free. Unfortunately, free is not always the best way - the conference room had completely dead sound, a completely out of tune grand piano, and was stultifyingly warm. So, tomorrow we're off to a proper rehearsal space - Ripley-Grier.
-
I'm supping at five with my choreographer, Adam Cates - we'll be at the Broadway Diner on 43rd - or is it the Brooklyn Diner? I think Brooklyn. I may not remember the name but I certainly remember the coconut cake, which I certainly will be having, especially after an hour on the treadmill and walking three miles (with more walking to come). The rain seems to have abated.
-
After dinner, I'll be seeing Blithe Spirit. I hear it's not great, but I do love Angela Lansbury and the play, so I'm looking forward to it. The first thing I tried to get a single for was God Of Carnage, because the cast is great - but the only single they purportedly had was in Row R and I don't do Row R, especially as I left my glasses in LA. So, I went to the Shubert and they didn't do the game, and gave me a second row center seat. I also tried to get a West Side Story single for Saturday matinee, but they had nothing except extreme side. I may try again tomorrow. I could easily get into Impressionism with Jeremy Irons as that's doing dreadfully, but the play doesn't sound so interesting to me.

Moose murders!
What's happened to them?
Moose murders, today.
Untidy!
Take my daughter, I

Tried to show her a new wrinkle.
I even named her
Bullwinkle...

BK, I love that one of your videos from Joe Allen last night showed a poster of A Doll's Life, which featured our very own PennyO in the cast! ;D

As much time as the two of you spend together, I'm sure you know exactly what he would say ;)
It does make me wonder what happens when Monkey's butt itches.

BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEERS TO DEAR READER DANISE!!!
-
My brother-in-law did all the trailers for CARS.
-
As it just so happens I just bought a brand new car about a month ago. The car itself isn't nearly as exciting as the way I purchased it. I used www.carsdirect.com and I swear I will never buy another car by any other means. ALL car-buying should be done this way! I never had to go to a dealership and I never had to sit for hours in the financing office, waiting to pay cash for a car I wasn't even financing! All price haggling was done over a few e-mails. They delivered the car and all pre-completed paperwork to my place of work. I spent 15 minutes signing said paperwork, handed the driver a check, and the car was mine! But in case you're at all interested, the car is a Nissan Versa, bright flaming red, 5-door hatchback.
Best car - Mazda 323
Worst car - I've never really had a bad one, but my very first car was a Dodge Colt that was so old it didn't have fuel injection, so it was pretty gutless.
-
We got our new Chevy about 2 months ago and have been enjoying it.

Mega vibes to DR Cilla's nephew!

Wow, speaking of cars, we just heard a very loud "THUMP". When we went outside to look there's an accident out on the street. It doesn't look like any one got hurt but the one car is a mess.

I should probably say that I have been sittting here at the computer busily reading all of today's posts; but, in reality, I sat down and immediately fell asleep for an hour.

I will be leaving for Seattle in about 15 minutes for tonight's preview performance of GUYS AND DOLLS. Wow, the time has really flown by these last few weeks.

Up before the son or the sun? Hi Jon

I will be leaving for Seattle in about 15 minutes for tonight's preview performance of GUYS AND DOLLS. Wow, the time has really flown by these last few weeks.
It sure has! I hope the show goes well.

Hi Jon, I'm sorry I missed you. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you are watching over your brother. VIBES TO YOU BOTH!
-
I would definitely watch Bravo's FASHION SHOW. But we don't get Bravo in canada. And i'm not
sure if any other network will be picking it up. I wonder if there is anywhere to watch it on the internet.
-
Hmmm...the promos for THE FASHION SHOW look exactly like the ones for PROJECT RUNWAY. I plan on watching, but if I hear Mizrahi say, "Designers, don't forget to accessorize using items from the Target Wall.", I am outta there...
I'm currently watching the Quebec version of Project Runway. I think it's called La Collection (it's in French). The mention of the accessory wall reminded me of the show because they make the biggest deal ever over it.
It is pretty similar to Project Runway (they have tasks and design and sew their own clothes). But one thing that is different is they don't announce the eliminated contestant until the next week.
So far there have been 3 or 4 shows. And they split them into 2 groups. If the winner is on your group you do not go home. They choose the bottom from the losing group. And then the bottom 2 stand there but we don't find out who goes till the next week (it's very odd).
Another sort of interesting aspect is that the show is affiliated with a big department store in canada, The Bay. And there are posters of the cast at the mall. ANd i believe the winner will have a line at the store. I know there was one challenge already and the winner's item was supposed to be at stores the next day.
I've never watched this type of show in French before. And some of the terms are new to me. They call models, "mannequin". And when they want to vote someone off they say it's the person that they will "remerci" (thank). Odd expressions!
-
Five hours after leaving the house I returned home. I took my car for an oil change & to have a little oil leak checked. It turned out the leak was from the oil pipe that gets the oil into the engine. Left as it the pipe would likely have burst while I was driving, not a good thing to happen at all.
The dealership is across the street from the mall where I normally go while the oil is changed. After I had no tolerance left for the mall I returned to the dealership & waited for their shuttle to take me to Fred Meyer to pick up a few things. The car still wasn't ready when I returned so I walked to Barnes and Noble & found THE SOLOIST by Steve Lopez for only $5.00 so I picked it up.
At least the weather was nice for walking cuz I was very frustrated, this was the first time I left my book at home. I really need to return Romance on Three Legs: Glenn Gould's Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Piano to the library tomorrow & pick up two more books that are waiting for me. I'm just a little over half way through the book & could have finished while I waited.
-
AARRGGHH!! I am a total goon! For the last couple of months, I've been having trouble with my contact lenses (I usually only wear them on Thursdays, so I just thought that my prescription was changing) and today they were bothering me more than usual. So, on a whim I thought I'd switch them and put them in the "wrong" eyes and...well...everything's so much better (a Legally Blonde reference). I can't remember when I could've switched them in the first place, but it's very definitely an improvement. I still need to get my eyes checked (it's been a couple of years), but it's not as bad as I originally thought.
Don't you hate it when that happens?? ;)

Topic of the Day:
1776 (the musical)
Gone with the Wind
Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one)
I was going to add:
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad
Jason and the Argonauts
The Quest for Fire
But I re-read BK's official Topic of the Day and they're all set WAY before the year 1400.

Well, I'm off now to buy tickets to see the new "Star Trek" tonight!! My friend Margo, her two kids and I are going to see the IMAX showing at 9:55 pm! At first, I was going to buy the tickets on-line, but it had a $2 per ticket "convenience" fee...that would be another $8! No way! So, I'm going to drive out there, buy the tickets and get something to eat...with the $2 that I saved. ;)
Until later!
-
I did that with my lenses a couple of times, DR GEORGE....
-
I am anxiously awaiting MR BK's report on BLITHE SPIRIT although I may have to read it in the morning. Very good rehearsal this evening with two GOOD numbers staged.....and work the next TWO days. Oh well.
-
I mean Sun lol. My this day has taken it's toll on my brain. I'm off to bed now, I'll be on bright and early tomorrow morning. I have to get up at 4:30.........Thanks again for the good vibes :) I'm confident everything will go great.

Jon, I'll be in court tomorrow at 10:00 for about an hour, other than that I should be available if you need to talk. I'll keep my cell with me.

Back from Blithe Spirit, which was very enjoyable - more in a little while. Since Next To Normal is playing next door to Blithe, I hung around until A. Ripley came out and we hugged and had a nice chat and I told her she was going to win the Tony and that I was never wrong - the last person I told that too did indeed win - Marissa Jaret Wonokur - she didn't believe me - but I'm never wrong.
-
I told Alice I'd be seeing her show on Sunday.
-
Weird not to go to Joe Allen after a show but no one wanted to play.
-
We never got any rain, and it was very warm and muggy out this evening. I'll have the fan on in the bedroom tonight undoubtedly!
-
Of course, once I brought my umbrella there was no rain - so I figure that's the trick - to always bring my umbrella with me.
-
I finished watching the rest of the bonus features on A BUG'S LIFE. There were lots of them, but all were ported over from the special edition DVD.
-
Then I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The boys were on, and it was pretty good, especially the ending.
-
UGLY BETTY had less humor this week than usual, but it was a good episode.
-
Another wonderful episode of GREY'S ANATOMY with a very touching last quarter hour.
-
And I ended my evening with tonight's BONES. One of the funniest and then most poignant episodes of the season. Superb!
-
Well, bk hasn't locked today's topic yet, so I have jsut enough time to say good night.
Good night!

-How are those flowers on your patio doing?
Fairly well. My hydrangea is just putting out buds, so it will be a while, but my grape hyacinths were dazzling last month:
