Hi, all. It's almost 2:30 AM and as I'll be picked up at 4, I might as well not go to bed. My last day here was bittersweet. Went to my father's grave and had an incredible conversation with the taxi driver who drove me. Will write about it later. I'm too tired to talk about my time at the cemetery, but there was a strange surprise waiting for me there. Gypsies may have had something to do with it...

Saw Cabaret tonight. bk may mock me for saying this -- but it was an amazing production.
It's back to the real world in a few hours. It's been a wonderful two weeks.

Bruce, Bella is an appropriate name for the rug.  I hope it is lovelier in person.

Ben thank you.  I wish I could have joined you tonight.  No one had the delicious tomato and mozzarella salad?

DRLaura those are wonderful. My first reaction to the Costas Hummer-WOW!
Oh, I miss Cardinals.  The first time I saw one, flying past my window after a fresh snowfall, my heart skipped a beat.

Thank you Panni.  You have left me in suspense waiting to hear the rest of the story.

Thank you, folks, for your compliments about my pictures. The light just wasn't right when I was there today.

And those hummingbirds are FAST!

Mock, mock, mock.  Of course it was the greatest, the most fabulous, the most spectacular of all productions of Cabaret - we would expect nothing less from Budapest.  ;D

Speaking of photos, here's one of our very own Vinnie, as we were listening to a mix.

DR Ben, if you'd like me to scan the cover of the CD booklet of ONE TOUCH/LUTE SONG for you and send it to you, I'll be glad to. I can scan the other pages, too, if you like. Just let me know.

Seeing that beautiful picture of the cardinal reminded me that yesterday morning as I sat at the laptop which is underneath a greenhouse window in my kitchen, a gorgeous male cardinal lit right on a branch where I could get a good long look at him. Astonishing depth to his coloring.

More GWTW this afternoon and evening. Scarlett's green velvet dress is very deep green in this new transfer. Can't wait to get to the section where she dolls herself up in that astounding red dress to go to Ashley's birthday party.

I thought we had gotten tonight in LOST to the episode where a major character was going to die. An interview with J.J. Abrams hinted that a major character would die in the first half of the season. Such was not the case at the end of tonight's episode, but I guess complications could set in. Continues to fascinate me week after week.

...der Brucer (some day I'll tell the story about the charity auction in which I sold 5 "Bruce Shut Up" cards)
Hmmm...I don't remember that story.

LOL derBrucer in the trash can....

Lovely photos from DRLAURA to add to those by DRJANE.  And hopefully DRPANNI took LOTS of photos with her new camera, so we can enjoy the trip with her when she gets back.  I too am waiting anxiously for the Gypsy story.

Vinnie is smiling!  Oh how I wish I could have been at Barrymore's with ELMORE, JOSE, BEN, and STEVE.....

...The event I alluded to yesterday is on and happening - I just heard.  So, mark your calendars, you NY people - it's December 6 at Partner's in Crime in Greenwich Village.  I'll have all the details, but we're inviting some pretty interesting people who I'm hoping will show up.  It's a combo launch party/signing and it will be a ton of fun.  I'm hoping all our east coast hainsies/kimlets will attend and I'm also hoping we can have a proper hainsies/kimlets get-together the night before or the night after....
Lo and behold, the bookstore has a website!

(This repeats a link Ben provided earlier, but the more the merrier, and like minds.)

Someday, we'll have to get him to tell the story of Pat Boone and the golf balls...unfortunately, it's better told in person than written (dang).

I know that Marcy, the Marketing Lady, is looking at Seattle and Portland both.  Seattle has a wonderful mystery bookshop I can never remember the name of.  I'm sure we'll make it up there.
Could the Seattle bookstore be called The Seattle Mystery Bookshop?

And in Portland, I found a listing for Murder By the Book.  (Independent of MBarnum's earlier posting.  Again, like minds the merrier.)

I like the story of The Randy Vicar and the Golf Balls of Pat Boone.

I do believe I'll be sitting in the Jacuzzi in just a few short moments.

Okay, what's a "merkin"?
It's what Toby Kieth calls himself.  Y'know, as in "I'm a 'merkin."

Hey, I was just about to post the same thing! I have loved Cardinal's since I was a child. We do not seem to have them in Oregon, but I was always fascinated by the  bright red color of them! Thank you for that photo!

With all the brilliant pics posted today, HHW resembles an episode of Disney's The Wonderful World of Color.

It's a shame that the folks out there with black-and-white computers can't appreciate the spectacle.

The investor I have been discussing What If with is also the producer of this film I'm rewriting.  His idea is to fund both projects at the same time, which wouldn't happen until November.  If he does so, we'd reopen in LA for a couple of months and then try to come into NY.

Isn't this November???

Some people still have B&W computers?? :D :D

We don't have cardinals on this coast...I remember the first time one perched outside my dorm room window in Boston.  It was on a particularly grey day, and his bright red presence was even more stunning in contrast to the dullness of the rest of the world...I sat watching him for quite awhile...I think he was watching me too...

The State Bird of Indiana is the Cardinal.  We see them often....and they are particularly pretty when they are around in the snow...which a few of them always are!
