I remember several years back when I saw her and Lee Lessack in performance at I think Judy's in NYC I was told her show was old then and needed to do a new one even then.

Somebody mention THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE in the shocking movie topic earlier this week.  Last night I read in the TCM guide that it will be showing next month.  I've never seen this movie (I read the play) and I'm looking forward to it.

I haven't seen it either, do you know when it is showing?  I could set my DVR!

I love this quote from the NYT review of The Color Purple with Fantasia as Celie

Alas, no oatmeal bowl for me to clean this morning.  However, I do have a scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and whole grain English muffin plate and pan waiting for me in the sink.

He looks like Margaret Tyzak in LETTICE AND LOVAGE.

When Woody and I saw this in London, I kept asking Margaret WHO?

And I have to say, I really do like those Thomas' Light Multi-Grain English Muffins.  Just under a 100 calories per muffin, plus 1/3 of my daily fiber needs.  And once those patented nooks and crannies are toasted up.. YUM!

:)

I also loved the final line concerning the character of Mister:

Quote
But there is virtually nothing Alton Fitzgerald White can do to enliven the role of Mister, Celie’s scowling husband, who turns repentant and noble in the final scenes. Mister is the rare fictional character who is just as boring when he’s bad as he is when he’s good.

I don't think Killing Of Sister George ever had an X rating - can someone check?

It's rated R now but it was originally rated X.

So, too, are MIDNIGHT COWBOY and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE: originally X and now R.

Good morning!

Very cool this morning and only getting to the low 70s today, so looks like a very nice day. Same for tomorrow and then the heat will be back with us.

Yes, lots of dire situations on UGLY BETTY, but I'm guessing some of that is just to keep us on edge and desperate to have the show return in the fall. Funny, however, that ABC considers this a comedy series since so much of it was dramatic last night.

Yes, I'm very disappointed about the definite cancellation of VERONICA MARS, and I will pick up the DVD boxed sets when I can find them on sale at a reasonable price. What a pleasure that show has been for three years.

My roomies and I spent a good chunk of last night clearing things off the DVR.  And that also included last night's ABC line-up.  However, since there were some other shows that needed to be watched beforehand, we didn't get to last night's line-up until around 10:45.  Better late than never.

As for "Ugly Betty" - I liked the episode, I just didn't expect it to be so emotional.  I just wish I had set the DVR to record "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" to see Mark Indelicato.

As for "Grey's Anatomy"... Lots of good cliff-hangers.

Oh...  My sister-in-law, Veronica, is in here in NYC this weekend.  Apparently.  She called me earlier in the week to tell me that she was coming up with one of her girl friends, and would be staying with one of my brother's Coast Guard buddies.  I thought she had said that she was coming in yesterday afternoon, but I haven't heard from her yet.  I have left a message or two on her cell, so, hopefully, I'll hear from her some time today.

It's her first trip to NYC!  Alas, she's not bring any of the kids with her - it would have been great to see my nieces and nephew - but I guess she's due for a get away.  So, I may get a chance to play tourguide this weekend.

To Levain, or not to Levain...

DR JRand, that wasn't the cover I was thinking of---it was more reminiscent of Dali.

Eh...  If I'm going to do hot dogs, then I think I'd rather take the train out to Coney Island for the original Nathan's.  But Nedick's ain't bad either.

RE: The GHOST WHISPERER season finale

A few more comments.

I forgot to add that the little girl from the plane crash (the one who had been in a car and survived) had told melinda that she knew something really bad was going to happen. And after the kids saved melinda the little girl mentioned that she had know it was going to happen (and i guess that they would save melinda).

As for gabriel's age. I think melinda is supposed to be 25. And to me gabriel looks the same age.  I'm not sure if you have the right person. It's not the totally creepy evil guy we sometimes see trying to screw over melinda. Gabriel is a character we have only seen recently.  He is the one who seemed nice and was going to all the funerals.  We saw him the week before the finale in that big house hosting a party for all the spirits.  Melinda was not sure before that whether he was up to good or evil.

Friday morning greetings!  Today's my day off, so I slept in a bit, took my car in for routine service, and went out to breakfast and grocery shopping with DH Richard.  Now I'm home puttering.

I'ld like to do a little song for you now...perhaps you know it, perhaps you don't...but it means so very much to me on a very, personal level...

So many nights I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song...

RE: last night's season finale of UGLY BETTY

SPOILERS

*
*
*

I actually really liked it. I didn't necessarily find it dark. But it was jam packed with content.

I liked some of the lighter moments like amanda finding out who her mother is (and being locked in that room).

I loved watching the kid as Tony.

I also liked finding out charlie was carrying on with the dentist. And actually really didn't mind that henry left without betty telling him (there will be time for that and she had more important things to do).

I can't really see that alexis would have hired a hit-man. But she totally got what she deserved.

Maybe it was just me but i thought it was funny watching the mom trying to break out of jail.

The whole shooting thing was extremely sad. And betty having to tell hilda. Very sad.

But all in all i thought it was a really good finale.
