Good Evening!

I, too, am back from a wonderful Italian dinner with DR elmore.  And, yes, that pear poached in red wine came with a gorgonzola and honey "mousse" - although, I think it was just gorgonzola and honey whipped together, rather than a proper mousse.  In any case, the pears, the mousse and the hazelnuts complemented each other perfectly.

And I also received a few Christmas goodies tonight too, as well as a "special DVD".  Thank you, DR elmore.  -And DR edisaurus!  :)

I got a very nice e-mail from someone who saw my letter to the editor of FILMFARE magazine (Sort of like India's People magazine). He is evidently the other American reader of the magazine. LOL!

DR MBarnum - So... How old is he?  And when will you be meeting him in person?

DR Ron Pulliam - Back on December 13, I posted:

Quote
DR Ron Pulliam - I'm sorry my timing is off with this post, but better late than never..

As for your iPod - The initial charging of your iPod shuffle does take a bit longer than one would think.  If you are charging via your computer's USB slot, it can take a bit longer at times due to the way your computer's power resources are set up.  However, just a few hours of charging should be enough to get an initial listen.  *I bought an A/C adapter charger in order to get it charged up faster - as well as to free up a USB slot on my laptop.

As for not hearing anything, well.. The Set Up Assistant will pop up if you have iTunes installed on your computer.  iPods only work with iTunes.  So, if you don't have iTunes set up on your computer, then go to apple.com and download it.  Once you have iTunes set up, everything else will fall into place.  Right now, any files you may dragged and dropped to your iPod are probably just stored as data files, not music files.  You need iTunes to make the music work.

And as for the battery... For shuffles, it just easier to buy a new one.  However, I've had an iPod shuffle since the first year they came out - three years already?? - and the battery is still nice and strong.

And back on December 16, I posted:

Quote
Ah, then since you don't have iTunes, you can not use you iPod Shuffle then.  The iPod/iTunes/Mac/Apple format is proprietary.

I guess I should point out that iTunes can be used solely as a "Music Library".  You do not have to take advantage of the online buying features.  So, if that is your reason for not using iTunes...

I am watching MR BROOKS with Mr Kevin Costner.  It is okay.  It is set in Portland Oregon, but was filmed in Louisiana.....so I guess the beautiful home exterior/interiors were NOT filmed in Portland.

My friend Hal got that as one of his gifts tonight (not from me).

The place doesn't look too popular.  Check out all those empty tables!

(snark snark)

OK, maybe these are publicity pics, but a few people looking sexy and having a good time would have worked better.

Had a perfectly marvelous (a CABARET reference) dinner and gift exchange tonight. We had organic apples and pears and almonds along with a delicious Vermont cheese for appetizers (along with some vodka/tonics). I was full before we even sat down to eat.

Jrand, I actually can't think of an actress that would keep me from watching a film that I was interested in.  Well, other than most of the actresses working today, like the Angelina Jolie types and all those whispering actors.

I'm not motivated to watch a motion picture this evening, so I'm listening to CDs.

Der Brucer's daughter has requested that we bring the egg nog for Christmas dinner.  She even had a specific recipe she wants us to use, such as it is.According to der B, this is a family recipe, from his late wife's side of the clan.  And there are omissions.

First, the idea is to blend the sugar and eggs, and then add the liquor.  Then, it is supposed to be set aside for a few days (at least) so that it can all "mellow".

Second, the whipping cream is supposed to be added to the mix just prior to serving.

Please note: this is using raw eggs - those with compromised immune systems should be cautious.

Still, it's nice for Magic Mommy to ask us to bring something different to the dinner.  It was also nice for her to ask me to come to my face.  Previously, she's always shied away from talking to me directly.

That's a very "classic" recipe.  The alcohol helps prohibit the development of "bad stuff" while the eggs.  If you want to be really safe, then just "invest" in a carton of pasteurized eggs - and at around $4.00 for a carton, that's an investment.  You can use the "sniff test" to see if the mixture has gone bad.

And got marvelous DVDs and Blu-rays from friends: CHILDREN OF MEN, SHREK THE THIRD, PILLOW TALK (anamorphic), and Blu-rays of 2001, ROOM WITH A VIEW, and TROY-The Director's Cut to name the ones I remember off the top of my head.

And I got something you might already have, DR MBarnum, or if not, would surely be interested in seeing. It's a MUSCLE & FITNESS Magazine from around 1983 with about a 10-page spread on the life and career of Steve Reeves. Crammed with pictures, I can't wait to find some time next week and really delve into the article. But I thought about you immediately when my friend Jeff gave it to me, and I even mentioned you by name!

And now I just need to decide how much cleaning and organizing I want to do in my room before I leave.  I was "hoping" that I would be able to get everything in order, but, after taking a few deep breaths, I also realized that there's really no reason to do all that work.  No reason to fret about all that work.  So, my compromise as it were, it to do an hour of cleaning and organizing... and then go to bed.  :)

Yes, but all I've seen mention that is guaranteed is that he will produce it (them).  That's nothing to sneeze at, of course.  But he demonstrated such a facility for Tolkien that I don't think picking another director is the best thing for "us".

As long as he doesn't decide to change the ending by taking Smaug out of the mix.  Or maybe he'll get rid of Bard?..... What would be equivalent to ruining ending The Return of the King without Saruman????

And we had cheesecake with hot fudge sauce poured over it for dessert.

I may explode any second from happiness and contentment.

...After dinner, I headed over to Broadway to catch the 1 Train at 79th Street.  However, since it was/is my last night in NYC for 2007, I decided to walk down Broadway to Columbus Circle to catch the train from there.  Well, once I got down to Columbus Circle, I decided to walk down to Times Square... Then I took the train back from Port Authority.  :)
