So, no one has mentioned that the long-awaited dvd of YENTL has arrived. . . . .

Well maybe that's because it has been available for about 4 years here.

See what I mean by long-awaited!

It's been a bad week for DVD viewing here:

Quantum of Solace
Zoolander
You Don't Mess With Zohan

We at least managed to get to the end of the first one - just to see if there was any story line amid the effects.

All in all - three movies that were pointless.

I must remember to avoid and Stiller or Sandler movies - no matter who recommends them or provides them.  SO BAD and NOT funny in any way.

I'm looking forward to "Milk" and "The Diving Bell & The Butterfly" which await viewing.

According to Playbill, it rubns 2 hrs, 45 with intermission:

http://www.playbill.com/events/event_detail/609.html

Tell him to go see it in Vegas.  It is only 93 minutes, and no intermission.

Oops!  No matinees either.

Yes, but not THE DIRECTOR'S CUT with commentary, rehearsal footage, etc., etc.    :)

Oh.. Monkey doesn't seem to do well around other people.  He was actually a bit shy when we met one of the administrators from the Museum of Modern Art yesterday afternoon.

However, he was quite happy and excited when he found out that some of his "portraits" will be incorporated into MoMA's redesign of their website(!!). :) :) :)

Holy Cow and Wow!  Very cool news!  Congrats to a new star!

(Make sure he doesn't sign anything without you reading it first...)

Well... It's not really that big a deal.  Basically, MoMA is going to start incorporating some photos taken in and of the museum by various museum-goers into their new website.  MoMA is pulling photos from their official photo pool on Flickr - of which I am a member.  Monkey will not be alone in that respect.  However, I think he will be the only Monkey at MoMA.

In any case... It is very cool. And, needless to say, I'm a bit excited too. :)

Good grief! Don't tell Monkey it's not a big deal, you may hurt his feelings.   Congrats!  I think it's really cool

In local news: one of the "Serials Shooters" is on the witness stand at his trial.

Lying his ass off (now, now, Karen, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty ...)

One of the victims attending the trial was interviewed after the guy's turn on the stand yesterday and when asked by the reporter for an opinion, the victim said "He should win an Emmy for that performance"

Sometimes someone is lying his ass off whether presumed innocent or not!

I went to Lowe's and bought some gardening supplies. I try. I really try.

That's about as far as I ever get with gardening.

Ok, got to run.  A friend is defending someone in what we all thought was a slam dunk for the prosecutor.  The jury deliberated 3 hours and went home for the night.  She doesn't live in town so is now here for the night waiting for a verdict tomorrow.  I'm off to meet her. Can't stay too long though I have much to move and carry and clean before the carpet is put in tomorrow

Callie had a blood check this morning.  All her levels were normal.  My cat sitter said "Isn't it remarkable how quickly she recovered once you switched vets?"  anyway, we're going to try to wean her off the prednisolone now. Hope that works out.

HA!

It seems my "fame" is spreading:

@NewYorkology Enabler reminder: Free brownies from 3-8 at Bendels (712 Fifth Ave at 55th) http://tinyurl.com/dbkvbe

;D

I read this a couple of times before I stopped myself from remarking upon it.  I had read that as "Frame" vs. "fame"!  LOL!

:)

Thankfully, I believe my quest for "fame"(?) has been keeping my "frame" in check.

T.O.D.

CALIGULA - Actually I rather enjoy the film.

And speaking of sleaze; that book HOLLYWOOD BABYLON, It's Back (not to be confused with Kenneth Anger's original) is probably one of the sleaziest books I have ever read.  I end up taking a shower after every chapter, just to wash the filth off.

Don't tell Monkey (cause he's too cute and endearing with those button eyes) but he's making me jealous -- I want to have a brownie and beverage and see the sites with the Enabler!

Awwww... ;)

*That's actually been one nice thing about my whole "Monkey business".  It's both enabled me and prompted me to go back and visit favorite places and see them from a different perspective.  Literally.  -As I'm kneeling down on the ground, or lying on my side in a gallery in order to take a picture. ;)

I guess I must have missed Monkey at the Reservoir.

Well, I should get ready to head down to The Booth to attend the first preview of The Story of My Life.  I really am looking forward to seeing the show.  Not only does it star two of my favorite actors - Will Chase and Malcolm Gets - but I also know a bunch of people behind the scenes on this one too.  -And I'm prepared for a good cry (hopefully) since I had already had a few while I was playing for the auditions and callbacks a couple of months ago. ;)

Along with Pickled Monkey Paws and Monkey BBQ on a Spit.

The whole edible monkey "vibe", actually!   ;)

I still associate "The Story Of My Life"  with Marty Robbins.

I hope the show is a success though.

Someone who shall remain nameless who appeared in CALIGULA sent me a very funny email telling me my review was vastly more entertaining than the film.  ;)

Well, I suppose if you're an extra who got the gig because you're sleeping with Bob Guccione, anything would be more entertaining.

Those PENTHOUSE pets were sleeping with a lot more folk than Bob Guccione, according to the book on the making of CALIGULA! We sold it at Drama Book Shop. ULTIMATE PORNO was the title.

Hmmmm... Let's do the math...

Bob Guccione = one man, limited time, has a day job.  Penthouse sluts floozies models = multiple women, loads more time available, nothing else to do.

Of course they slept with more folk!  Poor Bob was just one guy!  Give 'im a break!

I like the movie YENTL, but then I like Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters, and several other performers that seem to be fair-game for snide comments.

Ugh, LENTL! And she was so sure that turkey would get her a best directing Oscar. I still remember the brouhaha when she wasn't nominated. It might have been a good movie in someone else's hands. I love  what I've read by Isaac Bashevis Singer. His wonderful play TEIBELE AND HER DEMON was one of the most beautiful flops I've ever seen: great cast, direction, design, music, and the critics killed it.
