Speaking of football, I'm anxiously watching the Penn State/Florida game. Isn't it funny how the borders of our support territory expands as our home teams lose? Happy Valley is about 200 miles away from me and here I am rooting for them to win because of their "proximity" to Philadelphia.
The only connection I really have with Penn State is a very bizarre trip there when I was in high school. Our school concert choir was chosen to participate in a competition that took place on the Penn State campus. We had to be at our school at 4:00 am to get on the bus that would take us there. The bus trip was four hours, with just one pit stop. When we arrived, there was some sort of hubbub in the parking lot, with police cars and cops all over the place. Our esteemed principal, who tagged along for the trip, went to investigate. He returned to inform us that there were multiple bomb threats at the school and was told that all events were cancelled and we had to leave immediately. So, another four hour trip back home(which seemed a lot longer that the first trip).
Well, we found out the next day that our idiot of a principal misunderstood and that the competition was merely delayed--not cancelled. He was actually told that we had to move our bus to another campus parking lot and not leave all together. Our idiot principal made it up to us by giving us a pizza party. Yeah--that made us very happy.
