Well, you've read the notes, the notes were dreaming of a White Christmas, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently dreaming of a White Christmas just like the ones they used to know up in Fresno.

And the word of the day is: QUINCUNX!

I'm first after bk---I must be up early!
Usually the cats wake me up at 5:30 but today it's Greg as he leaves for a shoot, flying on the Chik-Fil-A corporate jet. Wonder if they serve Chik-Fil-A on board?

It's a 3 cat night here....brrrrr...

I wonder if anyone is fixing oatmeal for Ben this morning? At least he won't have to wash the bowl. Vibes to Ben!
-
And I hate the new Facebook format, especially how it announces everything you've posted to other people's walls on your own page. I haven't been able to find a preference to make it stop doing that, but it makes me not want to post on people's walls.
-
good morning all
I hope all is well with everyone
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I'm up early to get ready to go to Dayton for a luncheon with my volunteer administrator friends. I haven't seen them since July because their meeting time conflicted with my cardiac rehab sessions.
-
It was a lovely but surprising 82 degrees on Monday, but these days in the 70s are really quite nice despite how incongruous they are.
-
Good morning, all! Yesterday morning was a bit frustrating at the McGlinnventory because two of our colleagues didn't show up to continue the inventory of the DATs - and there are a ton of them! - going to the Library of Congress, nor did they show up last week and time is getting short because the executor wants to close this estate by Dec 31. This morning one of them sent me and our paralegal an email saying the problem on his end is the scheduling of the catering company he's working for over the holidays, bit I'm rather pissed at the other, a brilliant musician who needs handholding to walk a step. I would have hired other people at half the rate but I am stuck with these two because of the executor.
So that was the frustration, but I did get my inventory lists in order and Geri, our paralegal, and I did get orchestra parts and full scores pulled for the LoC. McGlinn had sold the Library his collection in 1998 and then sent them, after receiving in three payments a ton of money, about 3/4 ofwhat he promised. Our first job, before shipping the Library everything else due the Music Division, is to find everything not sent from that original shipment. Interestingly, on the LoC inventory sheets, there is a ton of material they received that is not on the McGlinn lists!
After that, I went to Toyland for a meeting with two lovely ladies, one an opera singer who will be performing with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival next summer, and the other the daughter of the institute's director and a lady I've always liked, about the progress of this project. Since I've been threatening to resign for the past year, I didn't care what occurred. What did occur was quite promising, with good suggestions and a chance to vent all of the frustrations. If what we've worked out is to be accomplished, it would be a wonderful thing. We'll see.
Today, I'm off to City Center to help Joshie, my adopted son, finish up the new edition of FOLLIES for Music Theatre International. His Finale program clearly clashed with the program that the original inputting employed and, on his last pass to print out the score, a lot of information was lost. He's on a severe deadline since MTI needs the materials for the Kennedy Center production, and I will go in and see what proofing/things I can do to help.
I think that's all of my news.
-
Ben Vibes!
-
And on a DIFFERENT subject.
Est mort.
Yes, my car battery is dead - so I will be dealing with that this morning.
-
There have been several instances of the quincunx this year, but I usually don't report them, because the complications are very specific to specific signs.
-
Merry Christmas, Thora Birch.
You're fired.
I only know her from her movies, but if she is giving the same performance she gives in those movies, she was wrong for Lucy Seward anyway.
And backrubbing seems a bit out of time for the period of Dracula - at least the director didn't suggest she imitate her mother's specialty.
-
A few days ago, I learned that the screenwriter of THE KING'S SPEECH is David Seidler.
David and I were at the University of Washington Drama School together back in 1959-60.
I was a freshman and he was in graduate school.
We did a television production of HAMLET together. He was Claudius, I was Osric, and Marian Hailey, who did the movie version of LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS and HARVEY on TV with Jimmy Stewart, played Ophelia. The 1-hour production, done on the University's educational TV channel was conceived and directed by Rod Whitaker.
I also recall that, for his Master's thesis, David wrote a very funny play about ancient Rome, CLAUDIUS THE IDIOT.
Fingers crossed that he gets the Oscar.
-
And the word of the day is: QUINCUNX!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MR. FIVE BY FIVE
-
Wow - we are just two degrees from the Oscar again this year!
-
Oh no i just read about poor DR Ben. Vibes for him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

* * * * * APPENDIX VIBES FOR DR BEN * * * * *
-
Poor DR Ben! Of all the times of the year for this to happen, too!
I had my appendix removed in an emergency operation when I was nine (in fact, it burst right after the surgeon made the incision.) That happened in May--I missed the end of my second grade school year.
For some reason, my parents thought that that summer would also be a good time to get my tonsils out, so I was back in the hospital two months later. I always think back to that year as the Do Nothing Summer (because I was allowed to do nothing...)
-
Flores! Flores por la mort (car battery)!
-
Morning, all.
-
Recharge vibes for DtM.
More health vibes for Ben and all in need.
-
I read "The Quincunx." Reading a real 19th century novel is much more rewarding.
-
The battery is being replaced.
Thanks DR DtM......the new one is on its way......the dead one will go .... where dead car batteries go.... I don't know where that is.
-
TWO RELEASES for Kritzerland before the end of the year? Wow!!!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm tired of having the ConEd man as my alarm clock.
-
Well, here we are again. Kids Christmas Program was last night, it was lovely. Today I'm home with Tiny Tim (Manny) and Mr Fezziwig (Otto) with a congested head. I'm hoping this moves along soon, as I hate having a congested head. However, I do have to do laundry and things like that, we'll see how much gets done as that would require me moving off the couch.
-
Nice avatar DR MATTHEW!
-
I'm up, late, gray outside, helper is here - later, dudes and dudettes.
-
Question for bk- On the Laurie Beechman recording of "God Bless Us Everyone" - there is a childrens choir. Question is, are they real children? If so, who are they and how did you contract them?
-
Really good episode of THE GOOD WIFE last night!
-
It seems like there will not be as much snow as they had reported earlier. Only a few cms.
It's weird but when it snows every day (like it has been) they seem to miss the mark a lot.
I don't really care if it snows a lilttle. But do not like when it goes over 3 or 4 cms.

No! My dad LOVES Dave Brubeck. I wonder if it'll be on again. :-\
-
I saw the last 15 minutes or so of the Brubeck special.....but was dismayed to see Clint walk into the frame.

DR George your sister eats a box of chocolates the same way I do. :)

I hope there is good news regarding DR Ben!!!

Gosh, I recorded it but I haven't watched it yet. Clint's daughter doesn't sing on this one, does she?

John McGlinn's executor and I need a conversation on payment schedules because the Big Check for the last invoice is still outstanding for this month and I cannot pay any bills, finish Christmas, or deal with estimated taxes because of his damned erratic payment schedule. I am very pissed, to say the least. And I will stay pissed until this is resolved.
So, enough bad news; let's cut to the good. I spoke to Ben thirty minutes ago on my bus ride home. He had to wait eight hours for a room yesterday and wasn't given one until 11:45 last night. He's on IV's and feeling much better today. The primary concern is a decision about trying to drain the abscess tomorrow, which sounds quite unpleasant, and since his ailment involves the alimentary system, he can eat no solid food.
He did reinforce his comment that he is feeling much better.
I had a good time at City Center. Joshie's brother Jeremy came in to help as well so it was fun to hang out with the Clayton boys for a while. I spent four hours going through "Lucy and Jessie," and when I left, Joshie was working on the Exit Music.
-
I think my body is telling me today that I've been pushing it around too much. I woke up with a minor sore throat which eventually went away. But I've been feeling draggy all day (and not in the Hedda Lettuce kind of way.). Plus, my stomach has been, er, percolating this afternoon...
I was planning on running out and doing a fee errands, but I think I'll just nap out on the sofa for a while instead.
-
Glad to hear that DR Ben is doing okay.

As I came back from the market, I saw that all of the crap the Oaf Above Me left sitting in the basement when he moved out is finally sitting out on the curb for the trashmen. Fantastic!

One of my Wednesday morning hiking group members invited is over to his house after the hike for cornbread, coleslaw, coffee & pie. The blueberry pie was delicious. The crust was butter, brown sugar & oats. I think that was all. His wife is very talented & showed us her sculptures. She also sews and knits. We each left with knitted dish cloths & scrubbing cloths. I've never seen knitted pot scrubbers before.
-
PAGE THREE??
-
I mentioned I had been looking for a Christmas bandanna and our organizer said she had left over material at home & she would make him one. Within an hour after I returned home she called to say his bandanna was ready. She she lives near the hiking trails Sherlock & I took off for the bandanna & a short, 45 minutes, but sweet hike.
-
After returning home from our hike I had just enough time to eat lunch and head back out for PT.

That seems like an unusual combination of food items

Hello.
-
Is everyone outside shoveling snow?
-
Hello.
td! How are you feeling?
-
It was cornbread with peppers, most of which I picked out, that went well with the slaw. I don't know what kind of coleslaw it was only that it was very different from what I get in Jewish deli's. I'm sure they both went well with the lima bean soup which I passed on since it had sausage in it. The pie was sitting on the counter opposite the other food & I'm not sure they planned on serving it until I commented on how good it looked. It was yummy.
-

No.
-
Hello.
td! How are you feeling?
I'm feeling busy. Busy. Busy.
How're you?

Question for bk- On the Laurie Beechman recording of "God Bless Us Everyone" - there is a childrens choir. Question is, are they real children? If so, who are they and how did you contract them?
Yes they were real children. We tried to get some pretend children but couldn't find any :) I don't remember how we found them, actually - we used children on several of our recordings, though.
-
a) get me off this damn page. b) get me off this damn page. And, most importantly, c) get me off this damn page.

Seriously, it is the holiday season and we're not going into the toilet, kiddies. So, I suggest a frenzy or three.
-
We got a lot of stuff shipped today, did all the forms for getting Bukowsical on CD Baby and amazon, and to all the digital dowload jernts, and then I had lunch at some weird golf course coffee shop in the middle of Griffith Park.
-
Lunch was really fun, and I had an excellently excellent chicken salad sandwich with bacon.
-
Is everyone outside shoveling snow?
No! Are you??
Well. I could be. If I went to Mt. Rainier.
-
Then I went to the mail place, where I picked up no mail and no packages. I am now actively angry about this overdue package that should have been here on Saturday. I've written the seller and told him I need exact information now - he gave me the insurance tracking number but it doesn't come up on the post office computer - his other package (he sent two packages separately, each insured) arrived on Saturday and the insurance number on that one is completely different than the one he sent me - I mean, different in the way the numbers are. So, I'm trying to get a bloody straight answer because after my last problem with a seller, I want this taken care of.
And speaking of my last problem, my refund was supposed to be credited today but instead I received an e-mail from paypal saying this peckerwood's bank had declined payment - paypal will now make one more attempt for the bank to honor - that takes three days - if it hasn't happened then, then paypal puts the money in my account and does whatever they need to do to the peckerwood, which I would hope includes precluding this guy from ever using paypal OR eBay again.

My neighbor who drives me crazy put all his snow from his driveway into the road. He lives on the corner where you have to turn and then go uphill. The Prius almost gets stuck. So, since it's against the law to put the snow from your driveway into the street, I reported him :)

Don't know if they'll do anything, but it felt good

Are you kidding me?" He was baffled until I said "They are all very ugly, have you really paid attention to them" then he started laughing

MAJOR JOB VIBES TO DS CRAIG ON THE 21ST ~~~~~~~ and every other day, for that matter

Today I asked the guy who provided the box of chocolates that I won yesterday where he had gotten them. Big Lots!
The message here is that Big Lots is a great place to buy cheap DVDs, but I very bad place to buy chocolates.
-
I have a favor to ask of my HHW friends.
The Monarch Scientist's son is having major surgery on Friday. She is quite worried, and I told her that I would send her links to funny youtube clips to keep her distracted while she's waiting in the waiting room. She will have computer access there.
So, if you know of some funny youtube clips, please post links.

Aww, I'm sorry, TCB.

That's a good one, Cillaliz. Thanks.

Job vibes to DR Jane's DS Craig!

I plan on sending The 12 Pains of Christmas, the baby stuck behind the couch, Stealth Cat, and whatever I can remember that I thought was funny.

He's going to lose part of it; how much they don't know yet.
-
And Pink Fish.
-
Is the governor taking a pay cut as well?
She asked that the raises that she and the other elected officials will receive, should also be cut by 3%. Somehow getting 3% less of your raise is not quite the same as haivng your current salary cut.
-
You are right on that, TCB. She should take a cut as well.
-
The Governor of Washington announced a three percent pay cut to George's sister and myself........ and a few thousand other state employees.
An example of why it is getting more difficult to find jobs to apply to let along get.

I suppose to save jobs. Unfortunately the cost of food & rent haven't gone down.

Laura I thought the cat listening to the terrible orchestra was funny.
-
I was just watching a story on the News about the elderly woman in Salem, Oregon who lived in one of the homes that was hit by yesterday's tornado. It was very sad. Her whole life is inside that home, which she can no longer enter, because it has been condemned. She was supposed to have open heart surgery this morning, but she can't go anywhere until they have closed off the broken windows and secured the property.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks, Jennifer. I'll add it to my list.
-
Thank you George.
-
I have a favor to ask of my HHW friends.
The Monarch Scientist's son is having major surgery on Friday. She is quite worried, and I told her that I would send her links to funny youtube clips to keep her distracted while she's waiting in the waiting room. She will have computer access there.
So, if you know of some funny youtube clips, please post links.
~~~Surgery Vibes for the Monarch Scientist's Son!!~~~
Laura, just about anything from Whose Line Is It, Anyway? (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=whose%20line%20is%20it%20anyway&search=Search&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&spell=1) should do!
I played the Maccabeats over and over during Chanukah.
-
The Governor of Washington annouced a three percent pay cut to George's sister and myself........ and a few thousand other state employees.
:P
We're in negotiations for the library, right now. I have no idea what will happen...or when it'll be announced.
-
Vibes DR George!!!
-
I am watching Sing-Off
I have recorded, but not yet watched, the last two weeks' episodes...and several shows are being recorded today. I just hope that my DVR doesn't start deleting things. :P
-
Vibes DR George!!!
Thanks, Jane!
My neighbor who drives me crazy put all his snow from his driveway into the road. He lives on the corner where you have to turn and then go uphill. The Prius almost gets stuck. So, since it's against the law to put the snow from your driveway into the street, I reported him :)
Good for you, Cilla! ;)
-
Well, I need to go home. Tomorrow, we're having our annual Holiday potluck at work (I'm bringing meatballs...yes, meatballs...and I still need to wrap my gift for the gift exchange), and my new supervisor is retiring, AND we have "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol" again, so it'll be a long day.
Until later!
-
Thanks, George. I looked at a couple of clips -- that was a funny show.
-
VIBES TO DR GEORGE~~~~~~~~
VIBES, VIBES, AND MORE VIBES ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
We're over 200 posts, that's not too bad
-
Any more news from DR Ben? Sure have been thinking about him
-
Tomorrow is an office day. Since things have been tense between E and I again, not sure how pleasant that will be
-
It rained last night.
I'm getting quick at taking the car cover on and off the car. Even in the rain, less than 5 minutes from lock to trunk. :)
-
I'm thinking about looking for an intern to start working on some of the things she's not interested in doing or learning to do.
-
Listened to A Hollywood Christmas again.
-
Hi Sam
-
Page 8 - that's respectable
-
Hi Cillaliz.
Is this your employee.
-
Had a very large bowl of lobster bisque when I got home, with really good fresh bread, and now I'm very very full and sleepy.
Maybe movie time, christmas movie time.
-
I think I'll try to watch a motion picture.
-
What a busy little afternoon.
-
I wonder if I can find White Christmas in the boxes of movies. 8)
-
Yeah. It's only the two of us though, so it's like any relationship between two people, whether working or otherwise, there are ups and downs. She's very good at what she does, but she gets just as moody as I do. She just reacts differently and doesn't think she's ever moody. anyway, it will be fine. She started working for me 3 years ago in January. This too will pass.
-
What BK? No comment about being on page 8 when you returned? ;)
-
Ok, i'm sneezing, time to put on heavier clothes for the rest of the evening.
-
I'm from the old days, I guess people would say I'm moody, but I always do what I'm told, and always do what needs to be done.
This week i've been dusting, vacuuming, and watering plants. And i've been doing that for 20 years every month. If i tried to complain no one would listen anyway.
-
3 years is just enough time to get really comfortable. Try working for Germans, I'm German so I get to say that. ;D
-
Good Evening!
Well...
There's nothing like a homeless man "projectile" peeing(!) on the 2 Train to bring one's day to a screeching halt. Literally and figuratively.
:-\
-
Thankfully, he was on the south end of the car, and I was all the way on the north end of the car. -And, at least he waited until the train was pulling into the station, so we didn't end up stuck in the tunnel. And at least it was my station. So, I guess there was a bright side. ???
-
Question for bk- On the Laurie Beechman recording of "God Bless Us Everyone" - there is a childrens choir. Question is, are they real children? If so, who are they and how did you contract them?
Yes they were real children. We tried to get some pretend children but couldn't find any :) I don't remember how we found them, actually - we used children on several of our recordings, though.
Thanks for clearing that up. There is a process of taking adult voices and processing them to sound like childrens and since it wasn't very much singing, I just wondered.
There's also Funny Or Die (http://www.funnyordie.com/).*
DR Jane - Congrats on your New Millstone!! :)
Today I asked the guy who provided the box of chocolates that I won yesterday where he had gotten them. Big Lots!
The message here is that Big Lots is a great place to buy cheap DVDs, but I very bad place to buy chocolates.
I don't think I'd trust any sort of food item from Big Lots.
-
DR elmore - Thank you for the DR Ben update.
Continued vibes for Ben and all in need.
Thanks. It needs to sit a couple of weeks for it to reach its peak. This is for Christmas dinner. And maybe a cherry-cranberry pie, too. And some ice cream. ...
-
Whoa!
That was weird... I just refreshed the page and got a pop-up ad for Chevy trucks...
And then when I refreshed again, I got a pop-up window for some sort of shopping survey.
??? ???
-
OK...
I actually have an early morning ahead of me.
Goodnight.
-
Have you tried turning off your pop ups?
-
Nightline just had a show about how being cold can make you lose weight. I've always thought that made sense
-
They also said there are fat people in cold climates because they keep themselves warm
I watched part of a motion picture, but it's too late to finish it this evening. I did finish everything to do with the packaging of our new releases and sent the second one off to the rights' holder for approval. Once that comes (hopefully quickly) then I can get these off to the printers.
I think he needs to get out more.
When I saw Lionel Hampton in concert in upstate New York, the show was delayed because of a double rainbow appearing near the theater. Everyone in the band as well as the audience mingled to watch that.
-
And then there's this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQdhMSEqhfg&feature=related
I'm crying and I don't know if it's from laughing too much or if it's just too pathetic.
Night, all.
