And the word of the day is: IRENIC!
It's foggy and misty in Portland.
I must churn out a review of a new AC/DC Blu-ray concert this morning. I'm sure you can all understand how incredibly excited by this prospect I am.
And the word of the day is: IRENIC!
Greetings from Toyland! His books are skimpy on facts, and I have found several faults/errors in them. But they are indispensable if only because there are no other works like that around. I enjoyed the Kern bio, but his flimsy book on the American revue was practically worthless.
I never liked Gerald Bordman who was pompous, arrogant, and a lousy author. He lived in Bucks County, PA, and he would come into the Drama Book Shop on Saturdays before a matinee and play "author." I remember two things about him:
1. When Bill Tynes produced a 1985 centennial concert for Jerome Kern, for which I supplied several orchestrations, everyone involved got a "Jerome Kern Centennial" button, which I wore on my coat; Bordman jumped me in the theatre district one Saturday demanding to know wty I was wearing the button; he was the author of a Kern biography!
2. One day at the Drama Book Shop, I had a reference call about what one-acts were in Thornton Wilder's "Plays for Bleeker Street." I went to Bordman's book on American Theatre and discovered Wilder had only written five plays: THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH, OUR TOWN, THE MATCHMAKER, PULLMAN CAR HIAWATHA, and THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER; I was so pissed that I called his publisher, asked to speak to the editor and told him Bordman's books were worthless for reference!

My favorite boy group is Forever Plaid.
DR MBARNUM - I have the Kindle App for PC's which allows me to read Kindle books on my computer.
Just came from facebook. I belong to a lot of book groups. And they are all quite upset over facebook's new promotional rules that came into place yesterday (or were enforced starting yesterday).
A lot of authors do book giveaways on facebook. And apparently now you are not allowed to do this anymore. I think this really sucks. Although they are all trying to figure out what they can do. Some are setting up blogs.

I'm going to have blood drawn at 7am. I'm having a physical next Tuesday and I'm having the blood work done before so the doctor has the results. I haven't eaten since yesterday morning (I wanted to fast before the blood was drawn). I'm very hungry.
I will eat breakfast after 7am.

Storms seem to have passed by without leaving any damage -- at least at my house. Don't know about the rest of the city or region yet.
But all my plants' leaves are headed skyward. They are overdosing on the rain.
DR Druxy - My actor friend in Cape Cod got a copy of your play, TRACY. He is truly enjoying it. He would be perfect in the role. Here is a photo of the two of us from a production of INHERIT THE WIND. He is the man on the right.(http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u271/actr2000/Wind4.jpg)
OK, second try...
This is turning up on my friends' Facebook pages and I find it very funny...

Has anyone heard of the National Jukebox (http://www.loc.gov/jukebox/)? It's a website of "Historical Recordings from the Library of Congress."
The Library of Congress presents the National Jukebox, which makes historical sound recordings available to the public free of charge. The Jukebox includes recordings from the extraordinary collections of the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation and other contributing libraries and archives.
It's pretty darned cool!

DR Jane - I hadn't heard about those new FB rules. Lots of pages, not just authors', do giveaways both on Facebook and Twitter. I'll be interested in how it all shakes out.
Richard and I are off to Cincinnati for a program about Macchu Picchu - run-up to Middfest 2011 featuring Peru.
Bye for now!
I just came back from visiting Ruby. I am sure I made her mad by interfering.

Is this new information that Ashton Kutcher is replacing Charlie Sheen on TWO AND A HALF MEN? Or had this been rumored for a while?

Greetings from Memphis!! I'm having a great time and the travel vibes worked wonders. My flight landed early and since there seemed to be a shortage of cabs, they put me in a cab with two men going to the Peabody. when we arrived there they said they'd split the cost to that point and i could just pay to my hotel. LOL, so they each paid 18 and I would have only had to pay 5. I gave the cabbie an extra 5. It was still 20 less than what I would have paid had I taken the cab myself.
Thanks, Ron Pulliam. I was going to point out the same.
Don't blame me, fellas! I just cut and paste.
Blame Canada!
Or blame Jose!

DR Laura - Was your "visiting" construed as "interfering"? Or did you do some "interfering" during your visit?
I forgot to mention that they were selling drinks, popcorn, and candy in the aisles at Baby, It's You. When did Broadway become a sporting event?"Rock of Ages"?
