Spent almost all of the afternoon with WHAT ABOUT BRIAN. I am two episodes from the end which I should be able to do before prime time TV starts tonight. Then, I'll watch the special features when I finish the episodes.

I did have a few minutes before coming upstairs to check out today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay storyline today and the previews suggest it won't be there tomorrow either.

LOL yes DR JEANNE....Mr Merlin the Cat has a cleansed aura and a balanced chakra.....we should all be so lucky.

I knew one of the HHW Theatre Professionals would know....I had heard that the Step and Fitch It was obsolete or at least not PC....until I saw some of the songs in DR NOEL's clip.  

SUCH GOOD FRIENDS did not use the Step and Fitch It, btw.

YOU may wear them with heels, but as I stand at six foot two I find them unnecessary.  

And barefoot is much more in my beatnik style, man.

I dunno, man...."capri" pants was what YOU came up with.  I don't wear women's clothes, so I had to defer to your experience..

I, too, would like to know if Noel knows about some NYMF show that hasn't played by the rehearsal rules - I certainly don't and I know quite a few people involved in quite a few shows.

I do hope he's not alluding to the fact that our show and several others were allowed BY NYMF to pay a little extra to get in last Sunday to do some pre-tech load in stuff, not that it made that much difference to us in the long run - it was four hours, but for us and the other shows involved (about six) there was no rehearsing going on - certainly for my cast members it was a day off, although three people came down to look at a couple of set pieces that were in the theater.  

As far as I know the one thing this festival has been, for better or for worse, is a level playing field, except, of course, those eight shows that were chosen to be in the big press event.  The only show that has completely disregarded every single NYMF rule is the always-mentioned Roller Derby.  I should think Noel would want to clarify his remarks because they certainly have confused me and others.  Thanks.

I'm heading back down to finish WHAT ABOUT BRIEN so I can move on to something more entertaining - tonight on TV and maybe tomorrow on DVD.

It's a beautiful day here in NY.  I did get the tracking number for the Fed Ex Ground package, so all is well.

Some NYMF shows are deemed more promotable, whether by virtue of having a stunning graphic or else some marketable names.  NYMF is upfront about the fact that their press reps' job is to promote the Festival as a whole.  Shows got chosen for that press conference, coverage of which is appearing proverbially everywhere and giving a great advantage to those nine shows, not based on any objective standard or anyone's vision of quality, but based on promotability in drawing attention to NYMF in general.   (I do wonder if Rob Evan is at least as big a name as many on that press conference, but it wasn't my decision, of course.   ).  Stars and names attract attention, whether we like it or not - i's not always about the writing.

I am not the only DR who has played Hysterium.  On the Thursday night performance of our second week, the fellows before me messed up the lyrics of "Everybody's Got to Have a Maid"....I came on the join them for the third verse.....my vamp started, we started the choreography....and I forgot EVERY word I was supposed to sing....

Of course FORUM is the type of anything goes show that the audience will support even memory lapses....we finally got back into it.  And then we were joined by the 4th man....Hero's father....who later said "I didn't want to come out...."

Immediately after the song they all ran offstage because it was time for my solo of the evening "I'm Calm"....and as they made their egress I called after them:  "Cowards!"

I love theatre!!

I played Hero in a local production about 15(!) years ago and our director also played Hysterium.  He screwed up the lyrics to "I'm Calm" every once in a while, but he's such a nice guy and a real good actor, that he could save it.
