And the word of the day is: MISCIBLE!
Let's hear it for Miscible Shepherd:

Marie Callendar's has some of the best fish and chips ever, and their tartar sauce is great (I am very picky about my tartar sauce).
Is the Manhattan Ocean Company or whatever it's called still there?
II've never really been fond of trout, though.
Good Morning!
Well, I shall be errant and truant for most of the day since I shall be heading down 95 in an hour or so (I hope) for the next stage of "The Big Move To NYC". So...
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Laters...
DR Elmo ~ See that? BK wants Moore postings so we can break Moore records! (And I still heart you Moore than anyone else)
Thanks for the mail I received today, DR CILLA LIZ!!
DR JRand, congrats on 20,000 posts!
So troops, I won't be available to post like the dickens (ah, another one of those sayings that make you think what does "like the dickens" mean .. or is it Dickens as in people who did something in a craze?...) on my travels. So make like the Dickens family and post to beat the band (and what does that mean?).
I watched most of Grease last night but missed the first 4 performers. I tuned in to see Matt and then Ashley singing and thought they were atrocious. I was so relieved when the other singers started and thought the difference was vast. I thought Juliana picked a terrible song as did a few others. If you have to sing in a broadway/theater style, it would make since to pick a song that sounds right sung that way. Not something rockish that would sound better in another voice. But that's just my opinion.
As a child growing up with a restaurant owner as a father, I fell in love with lobster, with lots of butter for dipping. I haven't had it in years, but I've been thinking about it recently.
I think it would be awfully funny if this production of Grease got stuck with those two.

Callie likes to eat Bonita Tuna flakes...
I am hungry for fish....think I'll have lunch at Da Kau and have some fabulous Vietnamese seafood soup
Oh, while I was packing with thoughts of fish food in my head .... fish tacos! (I love those). So I thought I'd part on that thought: fish tacos...
I don't like clams, but I sure did like 'em fried.
Oysters Rockefeller
Clams Rockefeller
Lobster Thermidor

my favorite places to eat our little swimmy friends.....
Pictures of DR GEORGE's house - very nice.
...and just dip and dip in butter...
A Last Tango in Paris reference?
My cats like that, too. You can get it for cheap at Asian grocery stores, or for not-so-cheap at the pet stores, where they call it "kitty caviar"!
When Peter and I were up in Boston last week we had some down time between the NPR interview and the screening,
Best fish I ever tasted: blue dolphin. Wonderful fish.
SHILL ALERT :)
Skip's show HERRINGBONE will be part of the Williamstown theatre Festival in June, directed by Roger Rees and starring B.D. Wong. (I believe htis is the same festival where DR Jose worked last summer.)

- Hamburger Hamlet used to have divoon fried catfish and clams platter -
Priscilla, I think this link at WBUR in Boston will let you listen to the interview. Edi, is this correct?

- I know it's gross, but there are times during the Jewish holidays, when I was quite fond of Aunt Lillie's herring in sour cream.
My mom loves herring in sour cream. I like the taste of it, but I could never make a meal out of it like she does.
I forgot shellfish earlier, did I not? I've never had oysters on the half shell, but I would like to try one.
I do love me some friend or steamed clamsd and oysters, and the steamed mussels at Elaine's and other places I've been were quite faboo!
A horror film about seafood? The Cabinet of Dr Calamari!
Methinks you've had too many fried or steamed clams. Moderation in everything ;D

Thanks foir posting that link, Ben!
If anyone is in the mood, I could use some help. I'm on the LGBTQ committee for our residential division and one of my tasks is to help put together a list of movies for our film night. The audience will be LGBTQ teens- middle school and high school aged. Right now we're just brainstorming titles and most of what I've come up with so far are R rated- which is okay but I'd like a little variety. Here is what I've come up with so far:
Set it Off
Boys Don't Cry
In & Out
The Birdcage
But I'm a Cheerleader
Camp
Longtime Companion
The Brandon Teena Story
Object of My Affection
Edge of Seventeen
Ma Vie En Rose
Get Real
Different for Girls
Beautiful Thing
The Incredibly True Story of Two Girls in Love

That's where we were. I'm in the engineer booth with the producer, correcting info that she was feeding to the host as we were taping, and Peter and Maryanne, one of our scholars, were interviewed by Bob Oakes.
The Car Talk guys, Click and Clack, were in the next room working on their show. I wish I could have met them!

DR RonP re: GREASE.
The part i don't get about bringing back matt and ashley is that their singing is so weak. That's the part that surprises me most. If they were stronger vocally then i think i could understand bringing back 2 people who the fans like (they couldn't know who the fans would like).
I wonder if they think that the reason these two are weaker singers is merely because they do not have the experience.

I think they were brought back because someone wants to get in their pants! May have succeeded, for all I know.
DR Cason, don't embarass us!
DerBrucer - Skip IS credited in the final credits for FRIENDS AND FAMILY, though. And got paid. :)
I'd bet the producers of last night's NBC show would love to see him in grease.
And now, I'm going to pack it up and head home!
"foir" - something you picked up from Your Little French Friend?
Now I remember that post, I love Click and Clack, I guess I just missed the link. Can you believe I may not have been paying attention?
The imdb is often incomplete on individual songs. I think Skip didn't get credit on imdb for the Disney video he wrote songs for either, even though he's in the closing credits there, too (and at least they send the royalty checks to the right place).
Did you see the publicity shots for Daniel Radcliffe in EQUUS?
DR Ben, to prompt this response, I feel like I unintentionally punked you!
George-Your new table & chairs look very good with the clock. I enjoyed a glimpse of your condo. Your place looks very comfortable.

Very nice decor from last night DR George! I especially liked the clock.
I wonder if Cilla picked up any boney toe flakes for her kitties at the Aisian grocery?
Time to medicate the cat
TPunk - Do you know the film FRIENDS AND FAMILY? It's a little different from the films on your list. It's about two gay men who are a couple and also gangsters for the mob, but it's got very affirmative message about gay relationships and acceptance by others. (One of my best friends wrote the screenplay, and Skip wrote a song that's in the movie.)
Is that a euphemism?
I'm sad about Barbaro....he was such a beautiful horse

Did I just hear an ad on TV which said "Drinking out of the can is sometimes tricky."

Some of these puns are rotten to the Alba-core
I would like to hear Guy Haines sing this song.
Well, the original, that is! :)
DR Jose, did getting pulled over fulfill any fantasies?
As Cole Porter wrote about the British police:
Brave, bobby, behave, bobby
And change your point of view
People say that I'm a daughter of crime
And I want to be raided by you!
Or should I have fowl. Would anyone cry foul if I had fish AND fowl?
Well... Long story, short... I got pulled over for having an expired State Inspection sticker on my car. Between working in DC and having the car with me in NYC, I just haven't had the time to get the car inspected. So... And, yes, I will admit that I was thinking I would not have to deal with the inspection before I give the car to the charity service, but... Ah, well...
The weird thing is that the cop wrote me the ticket/summons, then let me go on my merry way. I can either pay the fine - I'll have to call the court to find out what it is - or show up in court with the inspection paperwork. I believe I'll be paying the fine. The court date is not until the middle of March, so... And I'm guessing that if I get pulled over again, I can just show the ticket to them. ???
Any advice, DR Cillaliz? ;)
And that was that.
*I'm also not too keen what cracking and twisting and breaking apart crab shells does to my fingers.
See how much the fine is vs. getting it inspected. In some states it's more expensive to pay the fine than to just go do it. Showing the ticket may work for a couple days, but it won't work for long, they'll say that you had time to fix it and give you another. Well, depending on how sweet your smile is that day. Technically every time you drive and don't have the right sticker could be considered to be a new offense.
Disclaimer, This is not legal advice...I'm not licensed in Virginia ;D
It the court date isn't until mid march it isn't that tricky, you're just risking another ticket. Do you feel lucky?
Imagine the trouble poor George had wresting meat off those scraggly miners.

As for "Grease...", Seth Rudetsky's commentary over at Playbill.com is quite funny (as usual), and dead on.
DR Jose - thanks for the prompt. I'd looked for Seth's comments a couple of times earlier today - he sure called it like I saw it! Poor Richard thought the next show would be the last and we'd know in 2 weeks how it all turns out. He 'bout lost it when I told him it would go on for weeks...
Maybe there will be another "big twist", ya' think?
LOL Ginny. I would never even get Keith to watch the show.
Good Evening!
Well, it's been a long day... And since we plan to get tomorrow started around 6:30AM...
Goodnight.
DR TPunk - Although the book is better, the TV adaptation of "The Lost Language of Cranes" might work for your group.
My condolences to DH Richard. Remember, he doesn't have to watch the show next week. Well, it won't be on anyway due to the Superbowl. ;)
Did you feed The Ladies while I was gone?
I'm quite tired.
Yes. And I made fishy-faces at them.
Speaking of fish, I played six games of Go Fish with a four-year-old on Thursday and lost four of them.
