Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rhapsodic and blue, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently playing the Rhapsody In Moo by A. Steer.
-
And the word of the day is: CULTIVAR!
-
Speaking of Wall-E (yesterday), I saw it in the theater and LOVED it! I can't wait to get the DVD. ;D
-
Someday, I'll have to get either an upconverting DVD player or a Blu-ray player. I've purchased a few (four or five) Blu-ray titles, ones that are either supposed to be extra-special visually, or just plain cheap. ;) I just got "March of the Penguins" on Blu-ray from Costco because it was only $11.99 (plus tax).
-
And now, to bed.
Good night, all. :)
-
Morning all. Life in the RH continues apace.
-
This from TCB last night,
Ben! It is after 9:00 p.m. on a worknight. Are you okay?
Yep, we were at a friend's for dinner. She's on 86th Street on the West side. We got home at about 8:55 and I signed in to see what my friends were up to. At approximately 9:30pm I was in bed sleeping while Mr. M was busy arranging his pictures and accessories from the trip to Wisconsin.

MOST FELICTIOUS AND LOVING VIBES TO OUR DEAR VIXMOM!!!
-
I have a meeting at 11am. After the meeting I will go to the Greenmarket and then I will go home to lunch.
While at the Greenmarket I will probably pick up a scone and some apples and pears and if the vendor still has some, I will pick up string beans, one of my favorite vegetables.
I will also pick up flowers from my favorite flower vendor. I love my Greenmarket. It's like being in a small town right here in Manhattan.
-
It's 7:25 and I'm all alone.
I will go and wash the bowl (when was the last time you heard that?) and move on with the Ford Foundation until the meeting.
I'm listening to the
1920s Radio Network (http://www.whro.org/home/html/liveradio/1920s_wma.html)
It's a Charles Pogue kind of radio station and others may enjoy it as well. I offer it to you for your consideration.
Later, gaters.

Good Morning all
thank you for the vibes and prayers - I am dreading discussing this with the Vixter and my parents
I am very lucky to have sucha strong support group at church and here
thank you!

Well I guess I shall go shower and dress for work - laters!

Good morning, Dear Vixmom, Ben and all!
I'm sorry I left so fast last night. I think everything just caught up with me and I just got very tired, very fast. One of those, "If I don't lay down RIGHT now, I'm going to fall down." things.
I feel pretty well rested now and am glad to be home.
I'll go get DD Sheena around noon. I'm looking forward to the reunion. This house is lonely without her.
-
You know that we are here for you, Dear Vixmom.
Vibes of Peace, Comfort, Strength, Healing and everything you need!

I have to ask my fellow Apple users--how do you make it do cut and paste? I never realized how much I used or liked that feature in windows.
-
I have to say that buying that GPS was one of the best things I could have done for myself. It made the trip to Pittsburgh so much easier. It will be a "must pack" item from now on.
I also loved the rental car. It was so easy. For some reason, I thought you had to go through a big check off list before you got the car and when you brought it back but it was nothing like that. There was a bar code on the car and the guy I turned the car into just scanned it.
-
Welcome home vibes for DR DANISE.
DR VIXMOM I am lighting a candle for you this morning.
-
Since WALL-E is being released next week, I will use my DDD discount code to get a copy....but it doesn't work on pre-orders, so I will wait.
When I went to see MAMMA MIA! there was a great WALL-E display in the lobby with a life-size or bigger than LIFE Wall-E made of cardboard standing in the corner..... I look forward to seeing it, mostly from the lively contemporary comments that were on HHW.
-
And the word of the day is: CULTIVAR!
And The Song Of The Day Is: HURRY! IT'S LOVELY UP HERE
I'll admit I was wondering what you'd come up with for this!

Vibes and prayers for Vixmom! Big time!!

;)
Sorry, DR Danise; I just couldn't resist. Glad you are home, safe & sound. I know Sheena will be glad to see you! :)

As DR JoseSPiano, indicated, the piano recital last night was rhapsodic.
And I am now trying to work on far too little sleep. :P
-
***MEGA VIBES OF COMFORT AND {HUGS}***
to DR Vixmom and family!!!
-
I will purchase the DVD of Wall-E next week when it is issued. I almost never see first releases in theatres any more.
-
Enjoyed hearing about the concert that was presented last night....you New Yorkers sure are lousy with culture.
-
Or we're just lousy!
-
Let's move to Page 2
-
Chengdu
-
It's a city in China
-
It's in the province of Sichuan
-
I had to make a correction because the city was listed as Sichuan when it should have been Chengdu
-
Aren't you glad you're getting this geographical education?
-
I'm also drinking really bad coffee.
-
I could just go downstairs to the deli or to Au Big Pain (Au Bon Pain) and get coffee but I only have a $20 and I don't like buying a cup of coffee for $1.10 and giving them a twenty so I'll just suffer.
-
Speaking of Wall-E (yesterday), I saw it in the theater and LOVED it! I can't wait to get the DVD. ;D
I absolutely loved the first half of WALL-E but I felt only so-so about the second. The humans coming into the story seemed like an intrusion. And then there was the pack of misfit robot pals that aid in the rescue--I hated seeing that part of the Pixar formula thrust in. But all in all, it is a beautifully animated movie and Wall-E, for a character that had only two(?) words to his vocabulary, was incredibly actualized. And its message was very powerful. I think I got a little teary-eyed during the end credits.
-
Hey, I'm a frenzy!

Hey, I'm depraved on accounta I'm deprived!

West Side Story for those of you wondering (and I'm sure there were some of you out there wondering)

Wednesday morning greetings! Today I'm hosting my last brownbag lunch event for local nonprofit folks.
-
Vibes and prayers for DR Vixmom!!!.

I'm also drinking really bad coffee.
That's all we have in work is bad coffee. We have one of those machines where you put in a single-serving packet and it spits out this dark liquid that tastes like hot water with a brown crayon melted in it. The machine is somewhat fun to use. The coffee drinking is anything but.
We do have a coffee club that has their own drip coffee maker, but I've belonged to groups liek that before and they never work out. The person in charge of buying the supplies gradually gets fed up with people not paying up in time and starts buying cheaper and cheaper brands of coffee. Eventually, there's a big blow-up and not one talks to each other and that's the end of the coffee club.
-

I used to have to organize those in my last job. They could be a real pain.

DR Vixmom, it's so great that you have all these medical peeps who are looking out for you! You must already be putting out your own terrific vibes and positive energy to attract this kind of energy back to you.

Hey, Guys--I found another patsy fool stooge volunteer coffee buyer for your club!

Wednesday morning greetings! Today I'm hosting my last brownbag lunch event for local nonprofit folks.
I used to have to organize those in my last job. They could be a real pain.
Well, they were more fun when I was the assistant or, after I became in charge, had a supportive person in our PR department. The last year or so, I've pretty much been on my own and it's a lot of work. But, our clientele depends on the networking opportunity, so it's worth it. I only hope one of the 3 people being interviewed today to replace me feels the same way!
-
Good morning. That is all.
-
Hmmm...time for another cup of coffee.
Should I get the one with the Hazelnut crayon dipped in it, or the one with the French Vanilla crayon dipped in it?
-
Wednesday......
My question for ASK BK DAY....if you could have any of your favorite composers RE-SCORE a film in his own style....which composer and which film would you choose?
-
Go for the Hazelnut, DR DtM.
-
Go for the Hazelnut, DR DtM.
Ah, you must have your tarot cards layed out in front of you, DR JRand--that's exactly what I picked.
-
Hmmm...time for another cup of coffee.
Should I get the one with the Hazelnut crayon dipped in it, or the one with the French Vanilla crayon dipped in it?
'tis the season for Gingerbread or Pumpkin Spice latte...

That sounds good, too! With a carrot cake muffin, perhaps?

I'm now drinking water out of my Showtime water bottle to get the taste of the bad coffee out of my mouth.

Good morning, all! At some point today I have to take a trip to the Loesser office and drop off this chart for Jo, hopefully visit for a bit with my friend Joseph, and head home. Until I know my schedule, I've got MOST HAPPY FELLA, Act One, sitting here, and my church job work.
Today, unless I hear otherwise, the sale of the 10 feet of land lying between my dad's house and the highway will close and I am very happy. Now, if we can only sell the remaining 3.5 acres! The closing should occur within the next 45 minutes. Bless those HHW vibes!
-
Well, I'm off to the second floor auditorium, to set up the refreshments, load the AV, make sure the furniture is arranged properly, fix lunch for the guest speakers, and sparklingly greet people as they arrive. If the speakers don't show up, I'll have to do the program, too (that has happened...)
Bye for now!

I hope you will excuse this commercial announcement, but:
I am excited and proud to announce the publication of my newest book, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD: From the Secret Files of Harry Pennypacker.
I had more fun writing this book than anything else I have ever written and I know you will enjoy reading it, too.
Of course, I wouldn’t want you to just spend your valuable time frivolously.
You will learn the secrets Hollywood never wanted you to know when you read this book. You will be amazed, but definitely better informed than you are now.
The book is now available for pre-order through my publisher and will be shipped in time for Chanukah/Christmas giving.
You can order it on-line by visiting www.onceuponatimeinhollywood.com
OR, if you are uncomfortable doing business on the internet, you can phone in your order at:
(888) 934-0888 x 100.
Thank you, and enjoy!

Last Brownbag vibes to Ginny. Closing vibes to Larry. Coffee vibes to everyone else.
I get to take Sugar for a walk this morning. :D

I received my latest KRITZERLAND release in the mail today. It is a splendidly splendid offering.
-
Today I am going out for dinner and then to The Byham Theater to see (and hear) Miss Idina Menzel. She has an early start-time (7:30), so it will be an early dinner and an early night.
-
Ask BK day question:
Who has disappointed you with their live concert performances, if anyone?
Who has impressed you the most with their live concert performances?
Who would you avoid seeing in concert at all costs?
Who would you rush out to see in concert no matter the cost?

* * * * * Vibes for DR Elmore's Closing * * * * *

I have just ordered DR DRUXY's book.....looks interesting.... Couldn't tell however if the Payment page was SECURE....there was no notice and my computer didn't have the little LOCK symbol that it usually has on a secure page.
So.....I guess I will just have to watch my online account for the next few days.
-
Closing vibes for DR ELMORE's strip of land......the most talked about piece of property since the Navajo Strip.
-
Good Morning!
I had to be up and out early this morning to go to the post office. Disney sent me both the Blu-ray and the DVD of WALL-E, but another reviewer handles the standard definition Disney product, so I had to forward that disc to him this morning. Thankfully and coincidentally, he lives in NC, too, so the disc should get to him tomorrow.
It's supposed to rain today, but I'm seeing more blue sky right now than I ever saw yesterday when it was supposed to be sunny!
-
[sigh] A couple of days ago there was something wrong with logging on to this site, and now this morning, the site where I work is down. Oh, well. Work will continue on product even when I can't get there to write about it.
-
ASK BK DAY QUESTION...
SO , exactly when and where is this Bacarach thing you are doing and is it open to the public?
The benefit is called Bacharach To The Future and will be at New World Stages on Monday, December 1. Show time is, I think, seven-thirty, but maybe it's eight. Tickets have been on sale for a month now - I'll post ticket info here as soon as I figure out where it is.
-
On TV Tonight!™
NBC - KNIGHT RIDER, LIFE, LAW & ORDER
CBS - comedies, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: NY
FOX - BONES, HOUSE (rerun)
ABC - CMA Awards
-
I have three shows on the DVR to pick from to watch while I eat lunch: THE MENTALIST, ELI STONE, and THE SHIELD. I think I'll likely go with ELI STONE because I love the title character so much, and the tone of the show is so involving.
-
And, of course, I'll be starting on THE ODD COUPLE today. The last season in its run. As I remember, it wasn't as good as seasons three and four, but I'm looking forward to seeing them just the same.
-
the guy I turned the car into
...and for my next trick...
;)
Sorry, DR Danise; I just couldn't resist. Glad you are home, safe & sound. I know Sheena will be glad to see you! :)
Gee, I'm more powerfull then I thought!!!! Anyone need a car? ;)

Wednesday......
My question for ASK BK DAY....if you could have any of your favorite composers RE-SCORE a film in his own style....which composer and which film would you choose?
Good question - the one that immediately comes to mind is The Black Stallion. Carmine Coppola's score is, at best, serviceable, but does nothing to help the amazing images on the screen and the emotions they evoke. I think a Jerry Goldsmith (during that period) would have done an amazing score.
Of course, I could also name almost any movie from the last ten to fifteen years, all of which could have benefitted from a proper score with a great composer, without the constraints of the dreaded temp track they're forced to emulate.
-
MattH - the HTF was down last night around eleven my time.

Ask BK day question:
Who has disappointed you with their live concert performances, if anyone?
Who has impressed you the most with their live concert performances?
Who would you avoid seeing in concert at all costs?
Who would you rush out to see in concert no matter the cost?
I've been disappointed in many cabaret acts, almost all of them, actually, if you consider those live concert performances, none more so than the version of Three Men And A Baby Grand I booked for the LACC cabaret series. If you mean the bigger live concert performances, I haven't been to all that many, but I don't think I've ever been disappointed, really. I've been impressed with many of the live concerts I've seen - and that includes Tony Bennett, Petula Clark, Joel Grey, and Michel Legrand, all in Las Vegas in the mid-1970s, The Manhattan Transfer, Peter Allen (what a dynamo he was), Randy Newman, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others.
I don't know if there's anyone I would rush to see today no matter what the cost. I'm honestly trying to think and since I've had the opportunity to see a lot of heavyweights, like Streisand, and haven't done so... Of course, if Jack Benny were alive and kicking it would be him.
-
Jrand - that was FAST.
-
Oh, and I'm up and have been up since seven-thirty. I really must adjust my Internal Clock.
-
I was checking the DVR and it kept telling me there was a problem with the disk. I tried to reboot it but that didn't work either so I called cable company and they tried to do a remote reset to it as well. That didn't work so I have to take the unit over to the office and get a new one.
I don't know what happened. I don't remember hearing about any bad storms on the news while I was gone. I kept an eye on the weather down here because of the hurricane that was messing around down by Cuba. I know the odds were very slim at best for it to come here but you should never say never with those things.
Well, I guess I'd better get a move on. I want to get this taken care of before I go get Sheena because I wanted to spend the time with her, not just get her then have to leave her to make a run over to Brandon.
Laters all!
-
All of these sites up and down....like the stock market....at least the sites come back UP!
-
THE BLACK STALLION....good choice...wow Goldsmith could have really done something fun with that.
I keep thinking that a stronger composer for some of the Disney films like FOLLOW ME BOYS! and OLD YELLER (not the Shermans work on the musicals) - could certainly have enhanced those films.
Not that George Bruns (Boys) and Oliver Wallace (Yeller) weren't good.....but their work and even Paul Smith's on 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA seemed very "television" to me.
-
Bless you, Vixmom.
-
Hey! These Fiber Choice tablets taste great!
-
Today's walk will be down to 45th Street and the Loesser office. I will stop at the 68th Street post office and mail a package, then continue on down. I should arrive around noon. I doubt that I will walk back, probably just take the No 7 bus up Sixth Avenue.
-
I am sorry to say that I did miss WALL-E when it was at the theatre. I had intended to take little Taylor and Benjamin to see it but our schedules never coordinated, and my buddy Jim and I had talked about going to see it also, and then like a flash it was gone!
I should have just gone on my own to see it. I actually do enjoy going to the theater to see movies on the big screen. I actually missed several films that I wanted to see this summer...but it was just such a busy summer.

I look forward to reading DR DRUXY's lively book!
And now I can rest even easier! Thanks for the info. ;D

Just discovered that, unlike last time, the DVDPlanet 25offsale code is only good once--so make sure to wait until you know you don't want anything else before you order from them. As with the last sale, I've found a lot of stuff that's cheaper at Planet than DDD (including Criterion titles).

On tv for me tonight:
So You Think You Can Dance Canada (apparently mia michaels is supposed to choreograph)
Life
Starter Wife (on here on Wednesdays).
But I am most excited about the premiere of Top Chef (this is the first time this series is being shown here at the same time as in the US.
-
Druxy, just curious--does your book feature a mud wrestling scene between Frances Farmer and Louella Parsons?
-
Thanks, td and bk, for validating that the HTF site is down. I get paranoid thinking it's just my computer or software that isn't up to the task, so it's comforting to know the problems aren't on my end.

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm wondering why they don't just show a "snow screen" in place of "The Martha Stewart Show", since there appears to be multiple layers of gauze on the cameras right now. ;)

"Bones" is a must-see for me tonight. After that, I'll tackle "The Mentalist" and "Fringe", which I recorded on DVR last night.
-
I watched "Sweeney Todd" on HBO Saturday evening and found it vastly entertaining. Jonathan Tunick's arrangements/orchestrations were dazzling.
Despite my preference for soaring voices on those songs, the actors were excellent in portraying their characters and most of them fared very nicely.
Still...some of the songs "just miss" because they're not being "sung" gloriously.

(actually, Trough O'Salad is probably no longer accurate--these new bowls are a lot shallower than they used to be. More like a hubcap off a small European sports car.)

How sad, sad, sad it is to read that a Paula Abdul "fanatic" has been found dead in her car near one of Paula's homes. The woman is said to be in her 30s and there is speculation she may have been a stalker.
Sad person with a sad obsession...and Paula Abdul, yet!

Tastes like a salad.
Salad that tastes like a salad? And not one of those tofu imitations? What will they think of next? :)

Scott Eckern (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/Scott-Eckern-Releases-Statement-Announces/story.aspx?guid=%7B05F4A0A1-84FA-496A-92EF-2B418ADB1CC2%7D)

DR Druxy,
Congratulations on your book! I am looking forward to reading it!
-
Yes, CONGRATS to DR Druxy! I've ordered my copy! :D

While I hesitate to make too much of a political statement I do find the whole situation ugly and unpleasant. While I decry Eckern's actions and am appalled that he would do such a thing, especially since he has a lesbian sister, I fear we are slipping down a very ugly path and playing into the very hands of the hateful, bigoted slugs who put Prop 8 on the ballot and then spread lies to pass the Initiative. We now come across as venal and small-minded and intolerant which must make Dobson and Pat Roberts and their minions very happy. I read Eckern's first statement and his resignation statement and I take him at his word. We cannot allow people to be fired for their politcal beliefs (I know he wasn't fired, he resigned) because then we can be fired for nothing more than being Gay or Lesbian or Bisexual or Transgendered (and we can be right now in many, many states in the U.S.)

I had always heard that Burt Bachrach wanted Dionne Warwick to record this song, but she wanted to perform other people's work. It eneded up being a huge hit for Jackie DeShannon (and Burt Bachrach)

I had a wonderful visit with Jo Loesser at the Loesser office, and a nice phone conversation with my sister-in-law Jo about how the closing went. My check is in the mail - hooray! - and I'm thinking that my trip to Ohio will run from Dec 13-Dec 28. That will get me to Miami University to visit before Christmas break, allow me to hang out with Jo and Randy and the family I want to see, and get me back to Manhattan before New Year's eve. As for work while I'm there, I can ship the BABES IN TOYLAND materials to Ohio, if I've not finished the final edits before leaving, or whatever act of THE MOST HAPPY FELLA I'm on. I'm getting excited about this trip.

I began my afternoon watching last night's ELI STONE. As usual with this show, I was wiping tears away by the end of the program. I love this show. Seeing Jonny Lee Miller in a shower scene and a shirtless scene later was merely a bonus.

I was one of the shepherds in a college production many years ago.
I was one of the kings in a photograph staged for a "cute" family Christmas card. We assembled the whole tribe en costume at a Mountain park just outside of the City for the photo. Fortuitously, earlier that year in arts and crafts I had created this thing out of a soda pop bottle, a pie tin, ball fringe and papier mache. I have no idea what it was, but it looked sufficiently exotic photographed in black and white as gift for the Baby Jesus. I'm sure the sight of us was enough to put the various picnickers at the park off their food!
-
BONES should be excellent tonight. Booth's handsome brother comes to visit and falls for Brennan. The sibling rivalry should be hilarious, and there's always a pretty interesting murder mystery, too.
-
I spent the remainder of the afternoon watching the first disc of THE ODD COUPLE. I got through all of the episodes on the first disc and will start on the second when I go back down. The hunky Pernell Roberts was the guest star in one famous episode where Felix's "Sophisticados" music group has to transform into the "Saddle Sores."
-
Page Seven Dance!!!
-
DR Druxy, congratulations on your new book. We more than excuse your announcement, we appreciate it. :)
-
Penny Marshall left the series in the first episode of the season. The man she runs away with - Sheldn played by her then-husband Rob Reiner. My gosh, we were ALL so much thinner back then!
-
A very young Leif Garrett played Felix's son in an episode about his jumping frog.
The episodes on the whole were funnier than I remember them being, but then, I LOVE this show anyway.
-
Wow, Lulu! Welcome back!!
-
Continued mega good vibeage for Vixmom!

Scott Eckern of California Music Theater has resigned over the Prop 8 flap.
That's too bad. While I disagreed with him, he didn't do anything unlawful.
Yes, the better thing would have been to have a big meeting between him, the board, and some creatives who are particularly strong on the issue - some good could have come out of that. Him resigning could be seen in a bad light, as if he were forced to do so because of zealotry - not what happened, but the pro 8 people would love to use that.

No, but his actions (vote and donation) spoke volumes to a good number of people who work in his theater. He pretty much relegated them to second-class citizens and said they weren't good enough to have equal rights.
Strange, isn't it, that denying equal rights to a group of people because of "religious beliefs" should be legal in the United States in the 21st century?

I want this day to CALM THE HELL DOWN. I did the long jog in the new shoes - very disturbing experience - very difficult getting used to the fit and feel of the new shoe - but halfway through the run they started to settle in and I think they'll be fine. Certainly they put more of a spring in my step. I then had to hurry to the bank, then to Teddy, who cut my hair very short. I then came home to about forty e-mails, a flurry of Bacharach-related performer stuff. Our producer, without consulting me or anyone else, added three people to the show - I'm now stuck with that and it does not make me happy. I'm sure they're very talented but they are not names and they take up three very valuable solo spots, and put us up to twenty-seven songs right now. I'll go to thirty (fifteen per act) if absolutely necessary, but I really want to cap it at twenty-eight. I have said since day one that this is a two-hour show, and I will NOT let it go one minute past two hours (the intermission is above the two hours, and there'll be a five minute speech before we begin).
-
I'm hoping all our NY denizens will be at the Bacharach show and hopefully they should get their tix soon.

I must now go see if I have any mail and get a Subway turkey sandwich for lunch.

My take on what I read is that is didn't see it as denying equal rights, and in fact felt they already existed. It seems to me he now has a greater understanding of the truth. It is a shame he didn't have the discussions, or ignored them, before he made his donation. While a little late for the vote, it seems his letter can help educate people & it would be best to be kind to him.

Thank you, and enjoy!

DS Betsy has begun using "friend" as a verb now that she has become addicted to Facebook. :) In fact, she asked me last night, "Who is Jose Simbulan, and why has he friended me?" :)
I am glad you warned me, Jeff. Your lovely wife's photo keeps popping up asking if I want to friend her. Since we have only met once, I have resisted the urge to do so, for fear the State Police might be called in to investigate her stalker.

It looks like I shall be playing one of the three kings in a production of Amahl and the Night Visitors in January.
I have, at one time or another over the years, played all three of the kings - though not at the same time! :)
Of all the Kings, I thought you were best as Diana Ross.

That is fantastic, elmore!

Michael
Mr. Druxman, is it possible to get a copy autographed?
Certainly. I'm in Los Angeles, so it will just be a matter of working out the logistics.

Good thing it didn't have a rodent in its beak to chew and swallow! You'd have been agog, as well.

DRJANE I just made your second OWL photo my screensaver.....

So far from DDD I have ordered:
Little Rascals Complete Collection - 2, one is for my sister's Christmas
Iron Man
MGM Classic Musicals Vol. 3 (including Kismet and Hit the Deck)
Quo Vadis
Boys in the Band
Nightmare on Elm Street 1-4 Set
Lost in La Mancha
Guys & Dolls - another Christmas gift
I will probably do one more order next week to get WALL-E and this and that.
ANNETTE was preordered at Amazon.com back in August.
-
I guess everyone else is satisfied with all of the musical scores they have heard.
-
Does anyone have GMAIL Video Chat, I just installed it but haven't tested it yet.

Considering your family background, why do you seem so uncomfortable finding your way around a kitchen - I would expect you to be a hash-slinger par excellance.

Good Evening!
Well, that was indeed a short audition session! It ran from 5:00pm-5:35pm. There were only three actor/singers, and since one of them brought his guitar to accompany himself, I only had to play for two of them. Of course, that person was the last of the three, however, he sang a song of his creation, and it was a really cool audition. It was nice being an audience member for a few minutes. :)
-
This day will not stop. Just had to do more errands. Finished entering David's changes to Nudie Musical - we're up to about page forty.
-
Then I have a meeting with Alet, which I hope will be short.
-
And then I'll relax and watch a motion picture or two - all depends on what time meeting is over.
-
The Subway foot-long turkey was okay - I'm really bored of this sandwich and it's probably my last one for quite some time.
-
After leaving the studio, I decided to have dinner at Go! Go! Curry! (http://www.gogocurryusa.com/index.htm/). Katsu (pork) Curry = YUM! YUM!
Then it was a nice walk up 8th Avenue to Columbus Circle to grab the train home.
And here I am!

Thanks DR MBarnum. We finally walked away from the owl. I've never had that happen in the wild before. It was 9:45 in the morning. We think it was flying back to what appeared to be a nest & stopped when we approached.
-
LOVE the owl, Laura DR!!!
Excuse me! ;)
-
On my drive to work this morning, I had to slow down when a grey fox ran across the road.
Then, as I walked onto the Library grounds, I heard a "whoosh" over my head and the famous downtown Dayton peregrine falcon landed on the fence between our staff parking lot and the city park behind our building. I watched him for a few minutes and wished I'd had my camera.
-
DR Ginny, I also wish you had had your camera.
-
I love Damien Lewis! Tonight's episode of LIFE is so quirky; I cannot wait to get it on DVD!

Excuse me! ;)
I have no idea what you're talking about! :P
Sorry, DR Jane!

DR Singdaw, if DR Laura had taken the photo it would have been better. No need to praise, I didn't take it since we still don't have a camera. Luckily one of my fellow hikers has a new digital camera & shares.

I find it such a moving piece.

When will "Lili" be released on DVD I wonder
-
I have done five loads of laundry. I have done two loads of dishes. I have put dinner in the oven. I am a whirling dervish of domesticity. I also went and gave another voice lesson to the mother of one of my two year olds in my classroom. She's singing in local community college choir and is quite close to being tone deaf. I've taught her the best I can, but there's not a lot I can do.
-
I'm also looking forward to the release on DVD of the following:
Me And The Colonel
Isadora
Travels With My Aunt
Love and Pain & The Whole Damn Thing.
Do any of the HHW reviewers have any news on these?
-
Tonight I'm making stuffed chicken breasts with cornbread dressing. It's a recipe I haven't tried before, but I had all the ingredients in the house so I didn't have to go to the store. That was reason enough to try it. It looks tasty, we shall see how it tastes in about an hour.

I once choreographed Three Wise Guys for the Christmas show titled HOLIDAY SURVIVAL GAME SHOW which was part of the Disco Nativity.
And when we dropped Baby Cheesits down on a fishing line - well twice after the show we were told we were going to hell by audience members....I told them I was a director-stage manager in a small Equity House....I was already in hell.....

CARNIVAL is one of my most fondly remembered Broadway productions. I know it takes special skills to pull it off in a local production, but no one even tries any more, and that's a shame because it's beautiful and quite moving.
As for LILI, that's one of the REAL mysteries. DVD has been around since 1997 and after 11 years, we don't have an official DVD release of LILI. Amazing. (I have to say my VHS and the DVD-R recorded off TCM both have some bothersome damage. I suspect Warner is searching for better elements.)

I got 7 more episodes of THE ODD COUPLE watched this evening making 14 episodes watched today. I have 8 to watch tomorrow to be done with the set.
Some weak episodes in this bunch with Paul Williams having an episode to himself with four songs sung. Another crammed Howard Cosell, Martina Arroyo, and Jack Carter into the same episode. Argh!
-
But there was also one of my favorite episodes as Oscar trashes NYC in a column and Felix goes out of his way to show Oscar the "real" New York ending up on the subway with some really funny bits of business.
-
BONES had a good case tonight and some really interesting confrontation between Brennan and Sealy. The new lab assistant wasn't new, of course. This is the third episode he's been a part of, and I don't like him.

Next I watched last night's THE MENTALIST. An excellent episode with lots of "psychic" stuff from Patrick. No wonder the show scored its highest ratings yet with this episode. Showing off his skills in a variety of ways is one of the things that really make this show unique. When that's played down, the show is less interesting.

My memories of "Carnival" are from 1962 I would think. I was so moved by the charm of the story. I have no idea who played the leads here in Australia. I've love to see a professional production again.

Nice to meet ya Lulu...
-
I was thinking about other shows I'd like to see revisited. I loved "Billy" way back in the mid 70's when Crawford really had charisma and boyish charm. I wonder if Will Young (from "Mrs Henderson Presents") could carry it off. So much of the dialogue in the musical (and indeed the lyrics) were so close to the original book.

Shepherd here! (I guess when I was about 10)
(Washing my socks by night)
I was the angel who appeared to the shepherds, once. No lines, I just had to look angelic. (Oh shut up, it was a long time ago)
As a very young child, I played a donkey. We did a little performance piece one Christmas called The Friendly Beasts, where each animal had a verse to sing about their role in the nativity scene. I still remember my verse
""I," said the donkey, shaggy and brown,
"I carried His mother up hill and down;
I carried her safely to Bethlehem town."
"I," said the donkey, shaggy and brown.
I was only about five, the youngest member, and very nervous about my part. When it came time to watch the video of the performance, it was discovered that whoever was taping chose my song as the time to change over to a new tape, so my part was not on there. I still remember going to my mother, sobbing, because I didn't get to hear myself.
The wounds of childhood :D
-
In my first nativity, I was one of the angels in the crowd looking on in wonder.....I did graduate to Joseph a few years later...and in a special presentation written by my 4th grade teacher, I played an earthling who taught the story of Christmas to a man from Mars.....

Today I am going out for dinner and then to The Byham Theater to see (and hear) Miss Idina Menzel. She has an early start-time (7:30), so it will be an early dinner and an early night.
I've also seen Anthony Rapp, he's done a couple of plays here in Pittsburgh.
I have no desire, nor ever did, to see RENT onstage.
Well, she and Anthony Rapp were the best things about the production of RENT that I saw.

I had my camera for the concert tonight, but, there were no owls.
Facebook friends can see the photos now. Some were taken during Idina's last number when she encouraged us to click away. Her opening act was Chris Mann, who in addition to being totally hot - but straight - was an excellent singer/songwriter.

JRand, Best Buy has Annette on sale for $24.99.
Actually, Best Buy has the Disney tins on sale for 2/$40. Best friend John and I are headed there tomorrow to pick up DR. SYN and ANNETTE for me and DR. SYN for him. He's also buying DONALD which I will buy from him for $20.
That was what I thought too, until I got there and all of the signs said $24. I could not find a single sign that said 2/$40 so I figured I had looked at the wrong ad or something.
Let me know what you find DR MattH. Maybe they owe me $4.99.

Are the corporate bailouts too political to discuss?
Just wanted to post a link to the youtube video (about 3:40 minutes) of a parody lyric I wrote about the AIG bailout.
Jose's roommmate Jim really made this video come together from the various video clips...

I watched two motion pictures on DVD and am through with viewing for the evening. I think I'll listen to a CD or three.
-
After work today, I went to a local video store and bought two previously viewed DVDs: "Journey to the Center of the Earth" with Brendan Fraser and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." They were only $9.99 (plus tax) each! And even though it's previously viewed, the "JttCotE" DVD included the 3-D cover AND the unopened 4-pack of 3-D glasses. ;D

Thank you DR FJL
