Well, you've read the notes, the notes were pizzicato and not legato, and now it is time for you to post until the pizzicato cows come home.

FROM TODAYS NOTES:

Quote
I also will never watch this channel again – they have more commercials than network TV – it’s shocking – six minutes of commercials to twelve minutes of film.

Oh, dear, time for another math lesson.

Typical network TV hour is 42 minutes of show and 18 minutes of ads - thats about 43% ads-to-show ratio.

You are complaining about 12 minutes of show for 6 minutes of ads - about a 33% ads-to-show ratio.

Or, in words, if network TV did 6 minutes of ads for every twelve minutes of show, then 18 minutes of ad would buy you a 36 minute show (in fact, 18 minutes of ads buys you a 42 minute show!)

So, in fact, they had LESS commercial ad time than regular network TV.

A show I just rediscovered this weekend also had a terrific ensemble cast--3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN.  Everyone in this show bounced off each other in just the right way.  Even when the scripts and gags were totally lame, the cast had so much fun with what they were doing that I couldn't help but enjoy the show.

It's funny how some shows lose their chemistry as the years roll on.  I'm thinking about ALICE.  When it first started, I actually enjoyed the show and the cast, particularly the friendship between Linda Lavin's Alice and Polly Holliday's Flo.  But I guess as egos and temperaments and resentments grew and cast members (and their replacements)  left, any evidence of an ensemble withered up and blew away.  In it's later years, there was really no reason to watch this show.

I have to agree with those who chose THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW as the greatest ensemble in TV history. And the astonishing thing is that when folks left (Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman) for their own shows, their replacements fit right in and opened the show up to an entirely new range of potential story ideas.

And Mary got the idea for that strong home cast-work cast motif from the great DICK VAN DYKE SHOW that she was also a part of, and its ensemble is also one of TV's most memorable.

Of more recent shows, FRIENDS, FRASIER, and WILL & GRACE were also blessed with casts that worked in perfect sync with each other.

Last night we finally entered the higher high tech world and ordered DSL high speed from Verizon. It's a "self-install" and they said it would be ready to go on Friday. The self-install kit shipped this morning (from where I know not) and according to an e-mail I just received from Verizon the service is ready to go. Unfortunately, I don't yet have the modem, router or software. I hope that it will arrive tomorrow perhaps or Thursday at the latest so I can set things up.

Poor bk! Your comments on your irritation with the Hallmark Channel show that you really DON'T watch TV any more. Almost every channel now (with a few notable exceptions like TCM and the paycable channels), network and cable, uses those bugs in the lower left or right corner and continually have banners across the bottom advertising upcoming programming that one eventually learns to ignore.

But maybe you understand why many of us buy these season TV box sets. No disruption of the stories when watching those DVDs.

It is incredibly easy to do. When I first entered into the DSL world 1 1/2 years ago, I knew NOTHING about broadband connections, but the kit was very complete and the instructions couldn't have been easier.

I am looking forward to tonight's DANCING WITH THE STARS. It will be tough no matter who goes.

It's rare but my 3 favorites are still on the show (brooke/derek, cody/julianne, and lancey/lacey) are in the F4.  I've sort of thought that warren was the favorite to win (seems like he is the most popular). But wow, the judges were really tough on him.  I really want brooke to win. She is by far the best dancer. I'm just afraid that she will go tonight. I really hope not. Unfortunately it will probably be cody, since lance did so well last night.

Well, I've made no secret about not watching TV and if this is what it's devolved into, thank goodness I don't.  I do remember watching one season of The Sopranos on HBO (all others on DVD) and I don't recall the bug or the lower thirds in that show, but maybe I'm misremembering.  It's just so disruptive, and those commercial breaks are insane and if they're worse on regular TV why would anyone watch anything that they hadn't TIVOd, where they could do what I did and fast-forward through the commercials.

The amount of time slotted to commercials on cable networks is unnerving.  I've attempted to watch movies on TBS and AMC, but I usually give up because I can't take the incessant stream of commercials.  I've never timed it but it seems like an eternity.

Big Three Network TV isn't as bad, but it's getting there.  It used to be that you could tell you were coming to the end of a string of commercials when a local bump would come up, usually promoting the 11:00 news.  But now there is at least an additional minute of network self-promotion after local bumps.  Thank Gawd for Tivo and DVRs!  During the past year it's become a habit for me to watch that evening's leading TCM movie (with absolutely NO commercial interruptions!) and then watch network fare that I've recorded, almost solely so that I can zip thru the commercials.

I usually watch most shows off the DVR so i don't have to sit through the commercials.

When i do watch a show "live" i either start 15 minutes late or read a book during the commercials!

TOD:

"Friends" DEFINITELY should be included, Dr scratchclaw!  From the very first show I was hooked and felt comfortable with all the characters.  Season after season, each cast member revealed depths and nuances that most folks simply took for granted.  Comedy is HARD.  Ensemble comedy is HARDER.  And these guys made it look easy from show 1.

And there's a lot to be said for "Will and Grace", too, if you count only the first five seasons (and forgive Season 3 for the excessive bitchy-nasty antics of Jack and Karen).  For Jack Randall, I'll say this:  If the creator's real-life "Grace" was offensive, selfish and unbearable -- and if he, himself, was so pathetic that he could not shake this cancerous appendage from his life -- then Debra Messing played her to perfection.  I never "got" why Grace was in his life when he was supposed to be smart and savvy.  I think that we never got to the crux of who "Will" really was  because the show's creator could not reveal that much about himself.  Unfortunately for Messing, I cannot "see" her as anyone other than "Grace".  If there is anything REMOTELY Lucille Ballish about Messing, it's this identity with a character...and Messing loses bigtime because I hated Grace with a fiery passion.

"Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" NEVER had a miscast moment, IMO.  The cast clicked from the git-go and every guest/added character worked very, very well. (I'll admit to not warming up to "Dawn" for about half a season, but she grew on me and became a favorite).

"Frasier" remains, for me, one of the finest ensembles EVER.

The first three seasons of "Dynasty", before the cast changes covered by tragic accidents (Fallon's auto accident and coma....followed by her recovery and -- apparently -- total amnesia as to what she looked like and how she talked) and (Steven's being trapped in an explosion on an oil rig, after which the slender, sensitive blond Steven morphed into a hunky, rather rugged Steven).  For me, the show never recovered from the loss of Pamela Sue Martin as Fallon, but I loved it all the same.

"Stargate: SG-1" -- perfect casting.  Even when Michael Shanks took a year off and was replaced by Corin Nemic, Nemic fit in so beautifully that when Shanks returned, I mourned Nemic's departure.   After Richard Dean Anderson left and was replaced by Ben Browder, I found myself adjusting quite nicely to a different "Stargate" because other key characters remained in place and played by the original cast members.  The addition of Claudia Black, Browder's co-star on "Farscape", added a great deal to the mix, I thought and made some wearisome plotting tolerable.

"Golden Girls" was, is and will always be PERFECTION in casting.

No, you're not misremembering THE SOPRANOS. As I said in my initial post, some paycable broadcasting doesn't yet have the bugs, or if they come on, they fade after thirty seconds or so.

Commercials are why we still have "free" broadcasts. Those of us who love TV, of course, hate the stream of commercials, the bugs, and banners, but to see shows and characters we love, one endures much.

I'll concur with Dan (the Man) about "Designing Women" up to the point where Delta Burke was forced to leave the show.

It never recovered.  Delta was, IMO, the heart and soul of the show because she was based on the show's creator, Linda Bloodworth Thomason.  And it's no suprise to me that it was Bloodworth Thomason who made it impossible for Burke to continue even though Burke had some of the finest moments network TV comedy has ever seen.

There have been several different stories told about what went on behind the scenes of that show.  Everything changed, apparently, when Burke began putting on weight.  Some of the best shows in that series had to do with how "Suzanne" -- a former beauty queen who was truly a beautiful woman -- dealt with reactions to her weight.  In many ways, the character was a caricature of a typical southern beauty, but Burke was the equal of Bloodworth Thomason's intent and revealed Suzanne to be a deeper soul than was apparent on the surface.  Other cast members have not supported Burke's more vivid accounts of what happened on the set, but they also have not been wholly open about it, either.  Whatever happened, I have to say I cannot for the life of me figure out what's holding up the release of all the seasons of the show on DVD.

Just got off the phone with paypal.  Normally, when one orders via Kritzerland, I get an invoice sent to my e-mail address.  Said invoice contains a transaction number at the top, all the shopping cart details (item, item number, and price) and below that the payment details (price and address).  That's how it's always been - until the last two invoices, both of which did not include the entire upper portion of the invoice - it went directly to payment details - hence, I had no idea what the orders were FOR and had to go into my paypal account and find out there.  So, I called them to see why this is happening (the last regular correctly formatted invoice I got was last Friday) - apparently it's a "known" issue and is happening to everyone who uses shopping cart with paypal.  They've now escalated the claim to a more important status and I was assured by a supervisor that it's being worked on and would be fixed shortly.

For the past five or six days, I have been unable to see The Weather Channel, Turner Classic Movies and IFC (International Film Channel).  Just those three.  TCM and IFC are part of the same digital package.  The Weather Channel is part of the Basic package.

After losing three (count 'em 3) movies I had set to record on TCM, I called ComCast last night and got a message saying they are aware of "issues" in my area with reception of "certain" channels and that their technicians were working on a resolution. Rather than continue on to speak to someone live, I accepted the message as an indicator the problem will soon be resolved.   I'll give this till the end of the week before calling again to actually "speak" to someone about my problematic channels.

Oh, definately only with Delta.  Losing Delta Burke and shoehorning in Julia Duffy was a HUGE mistake.  Another case of evaporating emsemblage.

Also agree with what you said about FRIENDS.  This is another show where I often found the scripts and laughs to be uneven, but I always believed that these people were friends.  No matter how they were mixed and matched though out the run, it always worked.

I hold back on listing THE GOLDEN GIRLS the same reason I hesitate with SEINFELD.  To me, four people don't equal an ensemble.  But otherwise, they all were perfect together.

And hey--let's not forget about TAXI and CHEERS and the first two or three seasons of THE COSBY SHOW.

DR Ron, I also had problems with blanks screens for TBS and The Weather Channel on Sunday.  I called customer service and,  after they "sent a strong signal" to my box and had me reboot it, I've been fine.

Follow-up:  Thanks, Dan (the Man).  I just had an online chat with customer support and it was recommended I reboot when I get home.  If the channels don't come back on the reboot, he said to call tech support and request a "refresh signal".

Nothing like HainesHisWay for getting technical problems solved!!  :)

Good morning all.

I have many phone calls to make today, none of which I'm looking forward to.  I must call paypal and figure out what to do with an item I recently sold on ebay.  The payment went into an older paypal account I have, the password and security questions for which I have completely forgotten.  I'm not sure I ever knew them, since my ex-boyfriend helped me set up that account seven years ago.  I never use it anymore, but it was attached to the e-mail address I used on ebay, so therein sits the money.  I need to get it out of there, but I'm not sure how that will be accomplished.
Then I must call yet again and see if I can confirm that Toby has a spot at the childcare center for January.  They haven't responded to e-mails, and I need to make sure he's in, or else I need to start looking for someplace else posthaste.
Then I must call the hospital about Toby's hospital bill, and mine for that matter.  We tried to resubmit his with the additional insurance from DH Jed, and it's becoming a bit nightmarish.

Did I mention that I loathe using the phone?  Loathe it with every fiber of my being?  Ugh.

I did so many things on "automatic" for so many years in the Navy that I was amazed to discover, only months after retiring, that my memory apparently locked that door and hid the key.  I simply cannot remember things that seemed second nature to me.  Every now and again I'll get a flash and recall an event or a procedure.  But once you no longer "need" something that your mind has set up as an active file, somehow it also stamps files as "inactive."

One exception to my last post:

I still, on occasion, have a dream about appearing onstage in a play and not knowing a single line or even what the play is.

And on rarer occasions, I dream about suddenly remembering a class I needed to complete in order to graduate and not being able to recall what the class was called or where it met...or whether I'd ever attended a single class.  And so, in my dream, I'd be going through empty hallways and peering into classrooms seeking something familiar.

Well, I guess I disagree with myself, too, since I listed ALL IN THE FAMILY in my initial list.

I guess I have this definition stuck in my mind that an ensemble is a group of actors of a large enough number that could very quickly and with little effort gang up on and kill a director.  Now granted, just four people could pull it off but in the end, it will be easily remembered who actually delivered the fatal blow.  When there's a group of five or more, with all the kicking and clubbing with whatever blunt rehearsal props are handy, the mob mentality takes over and no one really recalls who did what once the police arrive on the scene.

So in my mind, NO EXIT is not an ensemble cast, while YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU certainly is.

The paypal customer service is great.  When you call, just keep saying Customer Service after the voice prompts - it's the fastest way to get them.  They'll either reset the password and username for that account or transfer the dough for you.

Just to clarfiy today's TOD:

Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite ensemble casts from TV shows – the shows where the cast chemistry is absolute perfection right down to the smallest regular?

So...not so much how many folks are in a cast or what potential exists but what TV shows we think had the best ensembles with the best chemistry and the ultra-plus perfect supporting actors/actresses.

WARNING - I'M ABOUT TO START RANTING ---

Well, I think my own stupidity has just cost me the price of the item I just sold on ebay.  When I set up my ebay selling account, I inadvertently attached it to an old paypal account that my usual e-mail account has been linked to for about eight years  I use a different paypal account now, that's attached to the joint e-mail Jed and I share.  This old paypal account was set up for me by my idiot of an ex-boyfriend, and he didn't trust online stuff so he made up all the information.  I have the fake name, because the emails come addressed to said name, but I need at least the fake address or phone number to verify the account with Customer Service so I can get in, reset the password, transfer that payment out of the account, and close it down.  But I have none of the information needed.  It's all my own stupid fault for letting him do it for me, but I'd never bought anything online before in 2000, and I was scared to give them my real information too.  So I let him do it for me. I never once logged in to that account, never attached a bank account number or a debit card number to it..it's an empty dud account that has been sitting there for eight years, except now it has my payment in it, and I can't get it out.
I haven't spoken to said ex-boyfriend in years, and with all the drugs he did after we broke up, I doubt he'd be able to remember the info he used anyway.  I could just throw up I'm so mad with myself.  I've changed the paypal info on ebay so this can't happen again, but I just essentially gave away that item.  I mean, the seller paid for it, but I'll never get that payment.  And without any identifying information, the nice customer service people, who clearly thought I was trying to perpetrate a scam, refused to help me.

Sorry, I needed to get this off my chest.  My stupidity at the age of 19 is coming back to bite my 27 year old self in the butt.

DR Ann:  Don't you have any e-mail correspondence between yourself and your buyer-- and eBay records, as well (which OWNS PayPal) -- which might allow someone in customer service put two and two together and realize you're not scamming?

If the original account is in your name -- and you have proof that you sold the item and gave the buyer the account nomenclature to use to pay you the money -- common sense should prevail.

NEVER settle for the person who answers the phone.  If you hit a brick wall, ask for a supervisor.

That's the problem, the account isn't in my name.  It uses my e-mail address, but everything else is made up.  I have the name, but it's not mine.  I think it's hopeless, sadly.  There's no way they're going to believe me on this.

I got the feeling watching those featurettes on the bonus STAR TREK disc that many of these were in the last issue of Season 3. I never had those, but the copyright dates (2003/2004) suggested they were included then. Only two of the ten or so bonuses seemed newly done.

I watched the new Legacy version of VERTIGO this afternoon (well, about 40 minutes of it.) Not owning the Masterpiece Collection, I had only the nonanamorphic original issue, so the picture was quite an advance over what I had. I totally agree here. Do not give up. Talk to a supervisor and explain the situation.

If you have the correspondence from the ebay buyer and you can prove that you are the person who sold the item, you should be able to prove that the payment from your ebay account went into that paypal account.

I think you could also explain the situation to the buyer, saying that you accidently had an old unusable paypal account set up to ebay.

I think there is a way, via PayPal, for the "buyer" to cancel a payment if it has not been claimed by the seller.  There used to be, at any rate.

If the buyer could do this, he or she could then pay you at the correct "name".

Ann--can't you ask the buyer to request a refund from PayPal?

Yes, this would be the easiest option to my way of thinking.

However....you have an eBay account under which you sold this item to a buyer for a specific amount of money.

EBay owns PayPal.

PayPal has access to eBay accounts.

Anyone competent at PayPal could look at your listing...see the name of your buyer....see the payment to which you are referring that was made by your buyer...and even determine that the e-mail address on the account in question is the one you currently have associated with your seller account under your name.

There has to be some level of sanity at PayPal that can say:

"Oh!  I see that Ann has an old account and she didn't have it in her name BUT IT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH her e-mail address.   'We' want our cut of Ann's sale, and we cannot get that if nobody accepts the payment which Ann is trying to have corrected.  Maybe 'we' should help her!"

Wouldn't that be just remarkable??!!??

okay, so I wrote to my buyer and explained the situation as simply as I could, calling it just an "old inaccessible account"  I asked her to cancel that PayPal payment, and said she could either pay me at the correct PayPal account, or send me a check after she received the item (which I sent out yesterday) and is satisfied with it.   I await her reply.  Hope she's nice...

okay, so I wrote to my buyer and explained the situation as simply as I could, calling it just an "old inaccessible account"  I asked her to cancel that PayPal payment, and said she could either pay me at the correct PayPal account, or send me a check after she received the item (which I sent out yesterday) and is satisfied with it.   I await her reply.  Hope she's nice...

Yes...'cause now she holds all the cards!

If you have the correspondence from the ebay buyer and you can prove that you are the person who sold the item, you should be able to prove that the payment from your ebay account went into that paypal account.

Of course she would have to explain away the use of a fictitious name which could be assumed to be for fraudulant purposes.

And just becasue PayPal and Ebay have the same corporate management does not mean they negotiate with each other  at the clerk/supervisor level.

Exactly.  Using fake info on online stuff is never a way to get in their good graces.  You should have heard their tone change when i tried to explain.  it was a very bad thing to do.  But i didn't know that 8 years ago when buying online was still new and unfamiliar.  As a teen, I'd always been told to never give out my information over the internet.

A real virus - don't open any attachment that purports to come from UPS or

don't normally include attachments in any email they send. This attachment

Another remarkable cast ensemble, IMO, was the one assembled for the TV dramedy "Popular" on the WB.  I cannot think of one character in this short-lived series that wasn't perfection in his or her role.

I watched DEEP IN MY HEART which was discussed here previously when it first came out.  I enjoyed it very much.....the second half more than the first.  I think the "It" number has become one of my favorite Ann Miller routines....she does some different steps!  And all of the recycled costumes from SINGIN' IN THE RAIN look great.

I also think the "One Alone" dance that Cyd Charisse and James Mitchell do is very close to being my favorite Cyd onscreen....of course I will always be partial to "Dancing in the Dark" - but the set for this "One Alone" - supposed to be from a stage production of DESERT SONG - and the costuming, and the brooding Mitchell makes this one super special.....

Jose Ferrer has a wonderful scene in which he acts out a whole Broadway show, and then he reprises it!  And Doe Avedon is a beautiful leading lady, although she is almost undone by a spectacularly unflattering hairstyle.

Helen Traubel gets on my last nerve....but I have to hand it to her when she sings about the Paris sunrise and also when she sings "Auf Wedersehen".  She is costumed to no advantage either.

WARNING!

I am always pretty cautious about forwarding virus warnings, so I usually check them out pretty carefully before I do.  This one is the real McCoy and at this time of year would be easy to fall for, with gifts and packages being ordered online.

So, I will skip the warning, and just give you the hyperlink.  Better safe, than sorry.

The only problem is, now that the buyer knows (from Ann's email) that it's an "inaccessible" account, if they're smart (and/or devious), they'll realize that if she can't get the moolah, after 30 days it will come back to them.  And since she's already mailed the item, they know it's too late for her, so to speak.  Plus, they can leave negative feedback with impugnity (since it will show they paid--*someone**--via PayPal).  Ann of course is limited to leaving positive feedback.  It's exactly the sort of situation why I absolutely refuse to sell on eBay anymore.

Yes, there was, Phillip McKeon.

I'm thinking about moving there.  I can handle heat much better then I can cold.  In the north part of the state, they say it will go down into the 20's tonight.

They suggest you cover plants and bring in all dogs/cats/small animals that stay outside.  I can't imagine leaving an animal out in the cold on a night like tonight.

Today I ran into an old friend who I rarely see anymore, although we both work in the same 2 block radius.

He mentioned that his girlfriend has gotten herself hooked on "these Indian movies with lots of musical numbers" and she watches them every weekend.

I told him that if he wasn't going to marry her, I would.

I've been watching stuff.  At my lunch meeting I had a small chicken Caesar salad - it was good.  Then for a snack later I had two El Pollo Loco chicken tacos - pretty small, but very good.  I did a bunch of errands and whatnot, answered e-mails, had telephonic calls, and stuff like that there.

I think the Encores! production of ON THE TOWN is going to be a great production, and i think it's overall better than the last revival. Warren Carlisle's choreography has wonderful momentsand I think it's great that they've tried to reproduce as much of the Robbins original as possible. The band is really good, led by the talented and wonderful Todd Ellison. I didn't think anyone could be funnier than Mary Testa as Madam Maude ("sex and art don't mix; if they did, I'd have gone straight to the top") Dilly, but Andrea Martin is truly a hoot in the role.  Afterwards, I stopped backstage to see Todd, and a couple of players I'm fond of, Bob Zubrycki, Randy Andos, and Suzanne Ornstein. Bob and Randy were on many of my recordings for BK. My only quibble was why did the great Leslie Kritzer sing "tayble d'hote" instead of "tahble d'hote" in "I Can Cook Too"? I laughed a lot and then, suddenly in Act Two, at the Coney Island subway stop around 4 am, according to the libretto, four of the principals sang "Some Other Time" and I burst into tears and wept through the rest of the production. It was amazing how such a silly show about sailors on leave floats on such a serious foundation.

During the break I saw my friends Karen Ziemba, Lewis Stadlen, David Ives, Peter Felcher of the Cole Porter trust, and Anne Kaufman Schneider, George S's daughter. Afterwards, i walked uptown with Karen Ziemba and her husband. She's about to head off to play the Stockard Channing role in SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION.

Did anybody watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith tonight? FX channel.

In the theatrical version, at the very end of the movie when they break out of the little cabin and start shooting everyone, and the choreogrpahy is very "dance like' there was music accompanying the entire scene.

I *know* this because I decided to buy the CD based on the music heard in that particular scene!

Yet in the version shown tonight, there is no music, just the sound of the guns shooting.

Am I misremembering, or did they remove that particular piece of music, and if so, why?

Well, I went to rehearsal.  When I got there, they were just finishing act 2, scene 1 (which I'm not in) and started scene 2, which I am in.  Scene 2 is "Down at the Ol' Five and Dime (Reprise)."  It's two choruses of the song, we (the Five and Dime kids) just step forward on the second chorus, group around Mr. Poppy, and then the scene is done.  It takes all of two minutes.  We did that twice, and that was it.  I was done for the evening.  I was there for a full ten minutes!  Now I'm home...and have been for a while.

I had a great day with "The Team" from the Disney Cruise Line.  Even though I had just received the call last night to fill in for a flu-stricken pianist today, it was like I was meant to be there today.

By the end of the first hour of callbacks, we were running about 20 minutes behind, but by the end of the day, we ended up running about 40(!) minutes ahead(!).  *Many Thanks to all the actors and actresses who showed up early for their appointed times and wanted to go in earlier.

*And there was one young woman who made a point of Thanking me and shaking my hand after her callback: "You played my first ever audition years ago."  :)

In other news...

After I was done playing for "The Mouse", I decided to walk up to the Virgin Megastore in Times Square.  The new - and final installment - in Jean-Efflam Bavouzet's Complete Debussy Cycles was released today.  Alas, they did not have a copy on the shelves there.  So...

I took the W train down to Union Square to check out the Virgin Megastore down there.  Alas, not in stock there either.

Then I took another train down to City Hall to check out the stock at J&R Music World.  Well.. They didn't have it in stock either.  However, the clerk (I finally asked) did check the computer and noticed that it was supposed to be in today - well, yesterday.  Alas, they did not receive their weekly shipment from that distributor today (nor yesterday).  -The disc I was looking for is on Chandos, which is now distributed stateside by Naxos - consequently, they did not get any of the Naxos new releases today either.  Anyhoo...

J&R did have the new Beyoncé disc on sale for $6.99, and the new David Cook CD on sale for $9.99.  Oh, and "Patti LuPone at Les Mouches" was on sale too.  -I believe those will tide me over nicely.  Or something like that.

...And, of course, after taking the R train back uptown, and then walking over to Columbus Circle, I did check out Border's too.  Apparently, no one in NYC got their shipments from Chandos/Naxos today.

*But Michael Medved was doing a reading/book-signing there tonight, and I did stand and listen for a couple of minutes.

After I finally made it back to my apartment, I made a quick run up to the grocery store to buy some toilet paper and some soup - I just really wanted some soup tonight.  -And, yes, we were out of toilet paper too.  Well... After I had finished my soup, I looked at my watch... then looked at my calendar... then checked my phone.... "Hmm.. I'm supposed to be somewhere tonight..."  So... I hightailed it back out of the apartment, and, thankfully there was an A (express) train just pulling into the station when I reached the platform... And that took me to Times Square... Where I then proceeded to the theatre to sit in the pit of a show I may be subbing in for sooner or later.  Whew!
