Air Bags for the clumsy
By JEFF STRYKER
Elderly people reasonably dread falling: falls are the leading cause of death from injury in adults 65 and older.
Perhaps they need not worry anymore. This month the Japanese company Prop begins selling a wearable set of air bags to protect against falls. The device looks something like a fishing vest with a fanny pack attached. When its built-in motion sensors detect a fall, it inflates two air bags — one around the hips, the other around the neck — in a 10th of a second. Instant Michelin Man. It retails in Japan for approximately $1,400.

Is The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band really considered one of the worst of the Disney films by some?
Maybe my affinity for "Let's Put It Over with Grover" (or whatever that Grover Cleveland campaign song was) has enhanced my memory of that film.

I saw the film at the Radio City Music Hall (My one and only time inside). I was more impressed with building and the Easter (?) show than the movie.

Regarding yesterday's posting regarding the music from the film 300
Shortly after the film was released, there was considerable controversy as regards Tyler Bates's score. It was pointed out that Bates' music heavily borrowed from Elliot Goldenthal's score for Titus (1999). In particular, Bates' "Remember Us" is identical in parts to Goldenthal's "Finale", and "Returns a King" is very similar to "Victorius Titus." There was talk of an impending lawsuit, however, on 3rd August 2007, Warner Bros. Pictures acknowledged on the film's official website, "a number of the music cues for the score of 300 were, without our knowledge or participation, derived from music composed by Academy Award winning composer Elliot Goldenthal for the motion picture Titus. Warner Bros. Pictures has great respect for Elliot, our longtime collaborator, and is pleased to have amicably resolved this matter."

The TV version and ultimate series of LITTLE WOMEN was okay....but it is 4th on my list.

TOD - I saw DAVY CROCKETT on television....but as for films.
First Disney live action film - THE SHAGGY DOG. The film was hyped endlessly on Disneyland. We saw it at the drive in. Most of the time children under 12 were FREE, but each of us in the car were charged 25 cents to see this movie!
-
After that, we saw many....but the ones that I liked best were:
The Parent Trap
Pollyanna
and best of all - Summer Magic.
The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band was a lot of fun. I especially liked the song and staging of "West O' the Wide Missouri" and "Let's Put it Over With Grover" was catchy. "Ten Feet Off the Ground" was also fun! Oh and "Drummin', Drummin', Drummin'" - I played that soundtrack endlessly....still have it and play it now and then.

Well I have to go to WalMart today.....so we shall see....if I don't come back, tell my family that I did my best.

Good morning, all! I'm off to Miami U again for a trip to the library and a festive luncheon. So far, no snow.
After that, I may have to drive to Miamisburg to the Fed Ex center to pick up two cartons no one's been here to sign for (my fault! mea culpa). Jo's getting ready for her last day of work for 10 days so we can run around a lot.
My fave Disney live action is 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA although I've always been partial to the Richard Todd STORY OF ROBIN HOOD as well. In the category of live action and animation, MARY POPPINS heads the list followed by RETURN TO OZ and DARBY O'GILL.

re: driving in the snow
I don't mind driving if there is snow on the grass (pretty much all the time here). But i don't like driving when the main roads are snow covered. Although even worse is ice covered.
We had 2 snow storms last week. And i think we are getting another one tomorrow. Another problem is that there are a lot of cars, and they drive quite fast.
I wouldn't really mind driving on a snow covered road if there were no other cars on the road.

No UPS deliveries this morning so far, so it looks like I'm having another day off.
Among the things I have planned to watch barring any review copies arriving is the old DVD version of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. I've only watched it once or twice since I bought it, and I want to see it upconverted to see if I'm going to be tempted to spring for the Blu-ray version. All of the reviews have been very complimentary about the video upgrade, but as it's a movie I only revisit occasionally, I need to see what the DVD looks like on my latest equipment.
-
I also recorded off HBO-HD, P.S. I LOVE YOU, a movie I've only seen in bits and pieces during its previous broadcasts. I haven't seen the beginning or the ending, so I want to see those parts (and maybe the whole thing). I have to say that despite its getting mediocre to poor reviews, I've liked what I've seen so far.
-
And while I cook and eat lunch, I have last night's BIG BANG THEORY and the rest of THE WIZARD OF OZ to watch.
So, combined with a lot of TV shows with new episodes tonight, looks like my day is pretty much planned out entertainment-wise.

Hello, everyone.
My home sale fiasco appears to be over now: the buyers withdrew their offer yesterday. I really thought this one would fly, despite all the problems. I learned last night that the buyers' agent misrepresented my offer, saying that I had elected NOT to do all the repairs, which was the opposite of my position. So there may be some fallout.
A friend in California, who is quite savvy in real estate, told me that he has had numerous problems with home inspectors and said that many deliberately falsify the reports to try to get a better deal for the buyers. I have heard this from others as well. As if the current market needs yet another problem!
It was indeed bad news, but I will take a break, then press on.

So...
I went to the post office this morning to pick up a package from Amazon that was supposedly an "attempted delivery" this past Saturday morning... Of course, there were at least three people here at the apartment this morning, and even I was still here according to the "attempted time of delivery"... :-\ In any case..
I had gone by there yesterday... No line at the Pick-Up Window! Alas, I forgot to bring my ID with me, so... Ah, well... So, since I happened to be up early this morning, I went ahead and walked up there around 8:30... Of course, there was only one service window open - with about 15 people in line, and there were about 6 people in line in front of me at the "Pick Up Window". And, of course, it was taking the clerk anywhere from five to ten minutes to find and retrieve and process each package. Well...
A very dear, dear woman walked in. Bright eyes. Big smile...
"Good Morning, Everybody! WOW! This must be THE popular place today. Look at all these people in line to mail their Christmas cards to their friends and family. So, who's going to let me in line in front of them?..."
That's when everyone in line tried to squish together to make sure she didn't get in the line. Well...
"Are you sure I can't get in line in front of you? I only have one letter to mail. Shouldn't take too long at all. Will you be late for work? Where do you work?... Oh, Downtown! Wall Street or at the Courts?.. WOW! Wall Street! You young people really do like living on the edge!..."
"How old are you?... 42!... You know, my first job here in New York City was down on 42nd Street! Isn't that a coincidence?!? And our newly elected President is just 44, that's close to 42 too! Isn't that amazing!....Where are you from?... Oh, Australia! Isn't that where Hitler is from?... Oh, it's south of there?... How far south? Is that where you're from?... Victoria?!? Like the Queen? You know, there's also a Victoria near Japan. Oh! Did I tell you that I speak Chinese? Do you speak Chinese? Spanish?... Well, I also speak Japanese. I only know one word; Sayonara!.. I'm 22 years older than you, and I speak Chinese and Japanese!... I don't know which dialect, I just speak it. But we're all God's children. One, Three in One God. Praise Him from whom all Blessings flow! Praise the Lord!..."
I even ended up staying a bit longer after I picked up my parcel just to see how her transaction at the window would go...
"Oh? You can't confirm the address of my friend? I know I have it somewhere in a Powerpoint presentation at home, but I just wanted to make sure I remembered it correctly. I thought you could look it up in the phone book to confirm it for me... So, if it's not the right address, will the letter come back to me?... Oh, OK. If it comes back, I'll just look up the address then, and send it again... Can you make sure it's closed on the back?... Oh, OK, do you have some tape then? Thank you. And I made sure to use up all my 2-cent stamps too.... Oh, I need a few more? OK... Well, I hope this letter makes it to my friend. Thank you, and have a Blessed Day!"
I LOVE NEW YORK!!!

Yes, but bogus ones! You're right, though. Oh... So, the reason I was up early this morning was that I was still up. The "hour" of cleaning and organizing I wanted to take care of last night before I went to bed, well, it turned into an all night affair. Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm a bit punchy right now, but after a cup of coffee and that very entertaining visit to the Post Office, well... But...
I managed to clear out four(!) boxes-o-stuff, and I have two bag-fulls of paper, magazines and cardboard boxes for the recycling bin - I'm always amazed at how I hang on to receipts for everything(!). Alas, I did not find my keys, but I did find my passport (again), and I organized a year or so of bills and Playbills in the process.
Thankfully, I have another short audition session this afternoon, so, I'll have plenty of time tonight to catch up on my sleep - and I can even take a nap this afternoon if I need to. -Only after setting multiple alarms, of course. ;)
-
I am home today, just coming down from a loooooooooooong week- last Friday I had surgery for a chemo port. Monday I had surgery for a stomach tube and Tuesday was spent in 7 hours of chemo witha radiation chaser.... it gives a hell of a kick but I don't think I will recommend it for your holiday partying!
Wednesday through today (weekend excepted) consisted of daily doses of radiation and sudden trips to the oncologist for hydration ...toay we seemed to have discovered the cause for the sudden bouts of violent nausea - it appears that I am a canisdate for that side effect from a shot they give me prior to radiation - today we skipped the shot and I am starting to feel more like myself.
My proudest accomplishment today is having eaten a whole English Muffin - sicne I have not had any solids since last Tuesday - this was worth phone callls to my parents and Vixdad (at work) all of whom praised me like a kid workingthe potty.... and dammit I felt just as proud as that kid... amazing how priorities can get rearranged, ain't it? I think God decided to give me a wakeup call....well He's got my full attention!
I am expecting the home care nurse shortly so I am going to run

Oh, without their knowledge and/or participation, eh? Maybe if they hadn't temp tracked the film with Titus and maybe if Tyler hadn't known that if he didn't do what they wanted and ape the temp track that his score would be tossed and he replaced, maybe then we'd believe that bit or revisionism. I'm surprised there aren't more lawsuits and accusations because this happens all the time.

DR Jeanne's home buyers were idiots. And they just made a decision that I believe they will end up regretting in a major way. The same thing happened with my house. First buyers withdrew because of the inspection report, even though I was willing to do many of the fixes. One of the things they were most alarmed about was that the chimney had major damage. When, a week later, our second buyers came in and made their offer, their inspection report showed no damage whatsoever to the chimney. They bought the house, and made a lot of the repairs, which was part of our deal and the reason they paid full asking price. The first buyers, like Jeanne's, were first timers, the difference being that the guy was in real estate and should have known better (a novice, but still in real estate). I ran into him a year later and he told me that pulling out of that deal was the single stupidest thing he'd ever done and that he and his wife had regretted it ever since. Oh, well.
-
I'm up. It's cloudy with patches of blue and some sun. I may finally be jogged out for this year, but we'll see. I SAY that, but then I guilt trip myself into doing it. But half the jogs I do these days don't make me happy, so it may be time to at least cut back.

How scary that I need one of these. DR Kerry, do you think we can get a special discount if we buy two of these & share? I have a hiking companion who could also use one, maybe the deal will be even better for three.

Jane,
No photos, unless The Lovely Wife takes them. But I'm happy to report that after finding a patch of ground to do number one on; Nigel did the remainder of his morning ablutions on the doggie training pad by the door, placed there for just that purpose.
-
We are finally decorating the tree. Keith does most of it since I don't make it as pretty as he does. He will let me take all the decorations of by myself.

Great reports from DR VIXMOM.
And the Nigel Report from points South are encouraging.

I forgot about a Disney film I saw BEFORE I saw THE SHAGGY DOG.....it was THE LIGHT IN THE FOREST with Mr James MacArthur and Miss Carol Lynley. Mr. MacArthur wore less than Miss Lynley in many of the scenes.....I noticed at the time.

Here's another headline for you DR JMK.
My guess is - they're still looking. :D

This happens with screenplays, too. [Big surprise!]
::)
True story:
Many years ago, I went to the movies to see the 2nd installment in what was to become a very successful 4-movie franchise.
About a half-hour into the movie, a new character is introduced who is virtually identical to a character I created for a screenplay that I had written (and was produced...badly). This character had a different name, but his situation, personality and manner of speech was too close to mine to be accidental.
I checked with my agent and he confirmed that my orginal script had, indeed, been submitted to the well-known producer of this franchise before it was sold elsewhere.
I also talked with an attorney and sent him my script. He went to see the movie and reported back that there were approximately 25-30 points of similarity between the franchise film and mine. He felt that we had an excellent chance of prevailing.
So, why didn't I sue?
Mainly because this was the 2nd film in the franchise. The only thing that they stole was my character and his storyline (although the character did re-appear in the final 2 movies of the franchise).
Had this been the first movie, I could probably gotten a large settlement...but now we'd only be talking about one character, thus even if I won, what I would get would not be worth being branded as a "troublemaker" in this town.
If this happened today, I'd sue in a minute...because, being on the "gray list," I really have nothing to lose.

Good Afternoon!
It's Snowing! :)
-
It's snowing like crazy here. LOVE IT!!!! I'm at the office. It may be a little tough to get home, but I'll get there eventually. It's the light fluffy stuff so it's usually not too bad. The problem is living in a place where I have to go both uphill and downhill to get home. Many chances to get stuck! I still love it, though
-
I've been proofing all morning. The Rodgers and Hammerstein people sent me The Brain script as formatted for licensing. I went through it, found about ten things to fix, and it looks great.
-
Flurries here, maybe more later.
I got some bird seed....REAL bird seed....and filled the feeders. I also got two heavy bowls and put them near the pet cemetery. Filled them with sunflower seeds. Mr Golden Belly the squirrel found them right away and now he knows he has a good source of food in the cold weather.
Even HE couldn't eat all the sunflower seeds.

Brain work requires brain food.

Just arrived in the mail:
Blu-Ray editions of The Dark Knight and Casino Royale.
-
I've been proofing all morning....
Somehow, this sounds like bread dough rising.
Wonderful smells in your corner of the world!
-
No snow here, just rain. For some reason, Rehoboth weather is always a lot milder than the forcasters predict.

Physical Phenomenon.
Raise your right foot and start making clockwise circles with it.
Now draw a number "6" in the air with your right hand and your foot will start going in the opposite direction.

Maybe you should see a doctor about that.
-
So sorry about your deal, DR Jeanne.
I like your positive attitude, though!
This, too, shall pass...

So glad to have the positive news from DR vixmom and to see her here, posting!!! :) :) :) :)

I also remember seeing "Westward Ho the Wagons" and "Third Man On The Mountain" and enjoying them. I've not seen them since them since the 1950's though.
I've also not seen 20,000 Leagues under The Sea since circa 1955.

I don't think anyone has yet mentioned Escape to Witch Mountain! :)

Oh, I'll bet Paula Deen does! ;)

I think that one is in DR elmore3003's VHS library.

No one who mentioned watching the Disney documentary has as yet mentioned how.....uh.....plain Miss Karen Dotrice grew up to be.

A NEW PRIME TIME MUSICAL?
NEW YORK — The Fox network is making a musical comedy, a somewhat unusual project for prime-time television.
Fox said Tuesday it had ordered 13 episodes of "Glee," a scripted series about a high school teacher trying to transform a glee club into a national power. What a coincidence! Just last night, I saw (on-line) a trailer for what I'm guessing is a remake, called "RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN (http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/racetowitchmountain/)"...with The Rock.

Jane,
No photos, unless The Lovely Wife takes them. But I'm happy to report that after finding a patch of ground to do number one on; Nigel did the remainder of his morning ablutions on the doggie training pad by the door, placed there for just that purpose.
The little things in life that make us so happy ;D Careful though. DS Craig trained his dog on those pads & couldn't un-train him.
Jane, fortunately, he gets lots of re-inforcement on his walks and I believe is getting the idea that the way he's to do it in the Pogue household. The pads are only a back-up and he doesn't use them when he has a number one accident in the house anyway...for which he is reprimanded. But he's just been out for his second walk of the day and has done both ends of his business outside successfully. Hurrah!

Back from the DGA. Just too cold to run, I'm afraid. I'll have to wait until it warms up a bit, which I'm sure will be in a couple of days from what I'm hearing.

No one who mentioned watching the Disney documentary has as yet mentioned how.....uh.....plain Miss Karen Dotrice grew up to be.
Some of us try to be a little more gallant about it, especially when we are no great prizes ourselves. And by we I mean I.
-
I enjoyed last night's BIG BANG THEORY. I couldn't watch this every week. The nerdy looking-for-love comedy hooks would get old to me quickly. But to watch an episode two or three times a year, it's a very good show.
-
Next, I finished THE WIZARD OF OZ which I had started yesterday. I don't care how many times I see it, it has the power to choke me up. I do love it.
-
Page Six Dance!!!
-
After that, I watched THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL on regular DVD. This was a Studio Classics release, but Fox doesn't appear to have done a monumental amount of clean-up on it. There were still speckles and dirt to be seen. I'm sure the newly released DVD and Blu-ray editions are cleaner. It was plenty sharp, however, with more than acceptable contrast, so I'll just keep what I've got and not trade-up to Blu-ray on this title.
I feel kind of guilty about not buying these vault titles since low sales numbers means the studios won't keep supporting the release of real classics, but I just don't love the movie enough to buy it again.
-
Since it was only 90 minutes, I had plenty of time to start another movie, and I chose one I have had for about a year without opening it. It's a Joan Crawford movie, too, that I've never seen: REUNION IN FRACE co-starring John Wayne and directed by the excellent Jules Dassin. Of course, he was a pretty green director when he did this 1942 film, and he had to work within MGM's constrictions.
I got about 45 minutes into the film before I stopped it and will finish it later today. Enjoyable story of France after it fell to the Nazis. Joan's Irene fashions in the midst of the Occupation are something to see!
-
I did have time to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke and Brian came to a meeting of the minds, at least for now. I enjoyed their civilized talk. Luke is SO innocent to the ways of the world. Has he never heard of a bisexual? At any rate, I hope the storyline will continue. I'd like to see Brian fighting his attraction to his stepgrandson. Certainly would juice up the plots.
I did laugh a lot when Luke mentioned that he had already had a sexless relationship himself. Ain't THAT the truth!
-
So...
For those DRs who really, really like Burger King. Well, at the smell of a Whopper, you can now purchase BK's new fragrance: "FLAME".
I'm not making this one up. I'd post the link, but can't do a cut and paste on the iPhone (yet). But if you Google away...

I have never tried chocolate covered bacon. It doesn't really sound that appealing.
But i have tried bacon and maple syrup the times when i've eaten bacon and either pancakes or french toast. Very good!

Has anybody ever made a gingerbread house before?
My niece has asked santa for it twice. We got one at costco that comes with all the stuff. I'm just hoping that the house part will stay together so she can put on the candies!

I tried the most delicious Lindt chocolates yesterday. They were white chocolate inside and covered in milk chocolate. Yum!

BK, so you think it's too cold to run where you are...Here's what I'm looking at right now at my back yard. Under the deer is snow; under the snow is ice; under the ice is frozen mud. The cold doesn't stop these wild boys from running. I couldn't get the whole herd in; there were twice as many. The Lovely Wife feeds them corn.
-
Great photo, DR CP!
-
Well, I have done my afternoon surf and now I'm ready to head back down and pick back up with Joan Crawford and John Wayne having a REUNION IN FRANCE.

Had a wonderful day at Miami U, and now I'm trying to deal long-distance with a management/orchestration problem long distance which is driving me mad. A short drive, I admit, but frustrating to deal with because the schmoe has been sending a constant stream of email questions for fixes since Sunday. Oy.
I drove back from Oxford in an ice storm. Scary but fun.

One thing about Facebook that I am just not understanding...people send me gift boxes, flowers, Christmas Trees, etc, and I click on all the required clicks to access said "present" but all I ever get are ads. Why is it that I never see the darn item! Nor is it shown on my profile.
Evidently I even have ornaments on my tree now, but I wouldn't know since I can't find the darn thing.

Many years ago, I read somewhere that there was some pianist, a woman I think, who had a piano with an all black-key keyboard made, because it showed off her fingers as she played.

Hi all.
I'm so very glad that Vixmom liked her flowers. I meant to check and make sure she received them yesterday but I had a pile of filing to do (and I do mean a PILE) at work and my back and right hand was aching last night. I laid down on the couch when I got home and fell sound asleep. I woke around eleven then just toddled off to bed.
-
I recognize an eyebrow in that first pic!
-
And my bellly and arms on the left in the last photo :)
Here again is the who's who for the photos (including the "camera-shy" Skip and me):
The musical is about an elegant Park Avenue woman (played in the read-through by Rebecca Luker) who's lost her husband and starts her life over by going to work at a producer's office. She discovers a young writer's work that she feels passionate about, and she will stop at nothing to get the show to the Broadway stage.
The music is by Skip Kennon (who first worked with Rebecca Luker when she played the fem ale lead in Kennon’s musical Time and Again at the Old Globe in San Diego). The lyricist is Ellen Schwartz (The Trapped Family Singers, the Mae West musical Come Up and See Me). The bookwriter is Bill Connington, who recently won awards - including a Talkin' Broadway citation - for his show ZOMBIE at the N.Y. Fringe Festival this past summer. The musical is being adapted from a story called “WebCast” by Fred Landau (who was the bookwriter on Kennon’s musical version of The Last Starfighter).
In addition to Rebecca Luker, the characters at the read-through were read by Steve Berger (Broadway’s Pajama Game and Into the Woods), Jan Leigh Herndon (Broadway’s La Cage Aux Folles and A Chorus Line), Jesse JP Johnson (Altar Boyz at New World Stages, Broadway's Glory Days), Neal Mayer (Forbidden Broadway, Broadway's Les Miserables), Sean Montgomery (The Last Starfighter at NYMF), Catherine Remmert (also in Kennon’s musical of The Last Starfighter), Leenya Rideout (Broadway’s Company, Cyrano de Bergerac and Cabaret), and Ric Ryder (Broadway’s Blood Brothers, Grease and the Luker-Bierko Music Man revival).
Songs in the read-through included "Not Young" (sung by Rebecca Luker), "You Never Know" (Steve Berger, Jesse JP Johnson and company), "My Song" (Jesse JP Johnson), "My World Began This Morning" (Ric Ryder), "Not Young - Reprise" (Rebecca Luker), "I Heard His Music" (Rebecca Luker), "No Time for Love" (Leenya Rideout with Ric Ryder and company), "What Else Did You Expect?" (Neal Mayer, Jesse JP Johnson, Ric Ryder, Rebecca Luker, Leenya Rideout). Rebecca Luker also performed two of her character's solo numbers from Act II, "Flying" and "I'll Seal it with a Kiss."

I recognize an eyebrow in that first pic!
Yup! ;D
-
Thank you, George!
-
Pix #2 and #3 are actually different shots. In one of them, Bill Connington is smiling but Ellen Schwartz is not; in the other, Ellen is smiling but Bill is not.
-
Well, sort of.
-
Lovely photos!
I'm trying to catch up on some posts.
Congrats to our DR Ginny and her last working days at the library!
-
Thank you, George!
Glad to be of help. :)
-
Continued feel better vibes to dear VixMom and family!
No cold vibes to DR Elmore.
No getting sick vibes to DR Jane!
Vibes to all I missed and just because!

I enjoyed last night's BIG BANG THEORY. I couldn't watch this every week. The nerdy looking-for-love comedy hooks would get old to me quickly. But to watch an episode two or three times a year, it's a very good show.
Interesting, I don't think of it as the nerdy looking-for-love. We look forward to watching it every week.

Has anybody ever made a gingerbread house before?
My niece has asked santa for it twice. We got one at costco that comes with all the stuff. I'm just hoping that the house part will stay together so she can put on the candies!
For years I made them from scratch. They were tons of work & not easy, at least for me. When the boys got older we made it a family project & each of us would decorate a wall. My recipe is a heavy German gingerbread and sometimes the walls fell if the icing wasn't just right.
I'm sure your kit will be much simpler to make. Let me know how it turns out. Have fun & don't worry too much about the final results.

I tried the most delicious Lindt chocolates yesterday. They were white chocolate inside and covered in milk chocolate. Yum!
My favorite chocolate in the whole world is Lindt milk chocolate. I like the extra large & fat bars which you can't find in the stores anymore. Sadly, now that I suffer from GERD (severe acid reflux) it is one of the chocolates that bothers me the most.
-
BK, so you think it's too cold to run where you are...Here's what I'm looking at right now at my back yard. Under the deer is snow; under the snow is ice; under the ice is frozen mud. The cold doesn't stop these wild boys from running. I couldn't get the whole herd in; there were twice as many. The Lovely Wife feeds them corn.
Good for the Lovely Wife. We see more deer in town than we do out here so I never get photos of them-thanks.
-
...
I drove back from Oxford in an ice storm. Scary but fun.
And I drove home from work in the same ice storm. My route is much flatter than DR Elmore's, but what usually takes me about 50 minutes took almost 2 hours. Scary and NOT fun.

Good Evening!

IT'S SNOWING!!!!!!!!

DR druxy - Yep, I'm on Twitter - http://twitter.com/josespiano
However, I don't believe I've ever "urged" anyone else to join. -Only to check in on http://twitter.com/BravoTopChef on Wednesday nights during "Top Chef" since Andrew and Spike from Season 4 "tweet" live during the show.
Yes, there is a bit of randomness to it, but there is also a lot of info out there: news feeds from TV stations, newspapers and magazines, weather reports, and lots of techno-speak. A lot of companies are on Twitter now: Banana Republic, Starbucks, JetBlue, etc. -And sometimes they "tweet" special sales and codes for fellow twitterers.
I follow a couple newspaper columnists - like Amanda Hesser from the NY Times - and there's also a whole "Mad Men" community out there too. -People who tweet as the various characters on "Mad Men". Even John_Lithgow is tweeting during the run of All My Sons - usually saying who came to see the show that night, how a TV appearance went, etc.
It costs nothing to join Twitter, and it's just a matter of finding people to "Follow", and then having people find you in order to Follow you too. If you think a good portion of your potential audience is into "social networking", then give it a try. Otherwise, you may just want to start off with a Fan Page on Facebook.
-
Thank you DR Danise. I'm feeling somewhat better this evening-fingers crossed.
-
DR FJL - I didn't realize that you and Skip had remodeled your living room. ;)
*It's nice to see some familiar faces in the group, especially from the cast of The Last Starfighter. -And JP. ;)
-
I'm glad DR elmore & DR Ginny made it home safely!!!! I wouldn't think it was fun.
-
Is anybody here on Twitter?
DR JoseSPiano is, and has urged other DRs to join.
Umm.. Read my previous post. ;)

After you "accept" the Ornament, Fish, Flower, Plant, etc., look for the Tab that says "My Tree (Cove, Garnen, Patch). Once you click on that, your Tree should come up.
If you want it displayed in your profile, then you have to add it to your profile and/or select it to be displayed in your Profile. Most app are posted to either your "front page" - your Wall - or under your "Boxes" tab.

George, supposedly Kentucky has more deer now than they did in Dan'l Boone's time. Unfortunately, that can be problematic. They over-run some towns and people's yards. And you see far too many dead ones on the freeway now; something I never saw when I was growing up here. On our country roads, you have to drive very carefully. And, yes, Singdaw, I worry about Lyme tick disease too and have to constantly tell The Lovely Wife to give them wide berth...If the dog got one that would be bad enough; it'd be worse if either she or I got one.
-
The Little Orange Kitten is helping Sandra eat vegetable fried rice. She likes the broccoli and the rice.
-
I had a two-hour work session, then did some errands and ended up at the Cheesecake Factory for my splurge meal o' the week - the yummilicious spicy cashew chicken which, given my shrunken tummy, I only finished a little more than half of. But boy was it good. I had a few bites of a Caesar salad, too, and one piece of bread. I went to the mail place where, dismayingly, there was not one piece of mail or any packages. Perhaps tomorrow.
-
JMK, the February Kritzerland limited edition release I spoke of was not the Baja album. That will be coming the first week of March with another reissue, Classical Broadway.

'night
-
My local Borders did not have the 2-disc Special Edition of Mamma Mia! - the DVD - in stock today.
But I'm guessing that didn't stop you from wearing your green spandex "Dancing Queen" outfit, did it?
;)
WOW! Dancing Queen is playing on my IPod right now!! Scary
-
We had 5 inches of snow today. It was really nice
-
I love the version of Dancing Queen that Wing sings.

Our prayer/mediation circle have had Vixmom in prayers the last two weeks. Healing thoughts and prayers and everything to GGP.
I hope it is working

We DIDN"T have 5 inches of snow and that was really nice too. :-)

Jose - Actually, Cathy Remmert and Jan Leigh Herndon were in Last Starfighter's world premiere at the Storm Theatre, Jesse JP Johnson (do you call him JP?) and Sean Montgomery were in Last Starfighter at NYMF,
-
Good evening all. It's cold outside. Supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. Here's hoping work is delayed or closed.
TOD - in no particular order

For singdaw - my healthy cookie recipe. It's a modification of one on found online, made to suit my tastes
Ingredients -
4 c. flour
2 1/2 c rolled oats
1 1/2 c brown sugar
1 tbsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
5 eggs whites
1/4 cup applesauce
1 jar baby food fruit mix (I use a banana/apricot blend) *or increase applesauce to 1/2 cup
1/8 cup oil
1 c. raisins
-optional, 1 c chopped walnuts.
Preheat oven to 350. Mix dry ingredients except for raisins in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix egg whites, applesauce, baby food, and oil. Make a well in the middle of the dry stuff and pour in the wet mixture. Mix on low until you can't anymore, then use your hands. Add the raisins and mix well.
For making cookes you can either use an ice cream scoop or make golf ball sized balls with your hands. Flatten them down to about half an inch before baking, they don't spread much in the oven.
Bake at 350 for about 8 minutes, or until just barely done. The key is to underbake them slightly, so they're moist. I make a batch and freeze them, and thaw out 2 or 3 for breakfast every morning. Easy to grab and take in the car.
For Cillla, they are 2 POINTS each, and very filling. The nuts would be more POINTS, though.

I love oatmeal cookies, this looks like a variation
-
Hello all. I am about two days behind on reading posts. That's what happens when I get back into the theater!
-
Well, I need to leave work now. I have to run some errands before I go home, so I'm off...and always have been. ;)
Until later!
-
Hi, TCB!
-
Bye, TCB!
;D
-
Had a fun evening of viewing. I began by finishing REUNION IN FRACE. A surprise ending I didn't see coming. Not a great film, but an earnest one, interesting especially since it was made when the outcome of the war was very much unknown.
-
Oh, and George's director and friend, and my fellow actor, Josh is crazy about THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.
-
Next, I pulled out the Abbott & Costello Volume 1 set and watched one of my favorite of their films - HOLD THAT GHOST. Hadn't seen it for decades, so it was nice catching up to it again.
-
NCIS had a Christmas themed episode with a murderer I didn't guess. I should have; the clues were there, but it got past me.
-
THE MENTALIST once again didn't do much with its gimmick this week which is good, I guess, since I suppose it would get tired if used excessively every week.
The infamous Elisabeth Roem was the guest star, Jane's former psychiatrist. I did guess the murderer in this episode. Hooray!
-
And I concluded my evening viewing by watching tonight's ELI STONE. Another good episode.
-
Very late this afternoon, the UPS delivery man did bring me something to work on the next few days - Season 2 of THE TUDORS. I had been expecting it, and I certainly don't have to rush getting it done. It doesn't come out until January 6th.
-
And tomorrow I'll have tonight's episode of LEVERAGE to watch while I eat lunch.
-
Well, I'm already quite sleepy... And since I didn't sleep at all last night...
Goodnight.
-
I'm heading downstairs myself to go to bed.
Good night!
-
TCB - be sure to read yesterday's page one posts about the new Kritzerland release.
-

I have done each of those things, and yet nothing.
-
It's a puzzlement, DR MBARNUM.
-
I am watching MAMMA MIA! I like it.....
And the color is so much better than it was when I saw it at the theatre!
I like the movie, but I loved the stage show. I will NEVER forget Miss Lisa Mandel who played Tanya and has to be one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life.....and she was a firecracker in the part!
-
On my Facebook profile page, I clicked on "Boxes" and found my flair.
-
Still icy rain here.....to continue until morning.
-
So sad to be all alone in the world.
-
But you're not alone
-
Tomorrow morning the guy from Home Depot is coming to measure for the carpeting. I wasn't supposed to even get a call until Thursday and he'll be here on Wednesday. I like that so far. this means I may have to do some work in the store room and the hallway so it's ready for carpet installation.
-
Watching the last of the Mod Squad episodes.
-
I am very sick and tired of thinking about the basement floor.
-

I never saw the stage show but I loved MAMMA MIA the movie! It's not a very well directed movie, and Pierce Brosnon's singing--Phew! But it's great fun to watch.
And I was blown away by how Meryl Streep was able to take a song like "The Winner Takes It All" and turn it into a riveting monologue. That scene should be mandatory viewing in college acting classes.
-
Jrand - Thanks for trying to get me through the foto posting before. I got lost at "right click," :) but I appreciate it.

Time for sleep. Night

I'm not sure its for me, but I'll stick with it for awhile to see how it goes.

Just finished watching VIRGINIA CITY with Errol Flynn and Humphrey Bogart (as a Mexican bandit).
::)
Actually, it was a pretty good western.
Now, I'm going to walk to dogs before it starts to rain again.
-
It's going to rain again? Hoping it's done by morning so I can jog. I felt guilty not doing the long jog today.
-
Oh, and George's director and friend, and my fellow actor, Josh is crazy about THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.
He does! HOWEVER, Theater Artists Olympia (who is putting on Reefer Madness! The Musical!) has a reputation for doing "bloody" shows at this time slot (Cannibal! The Musical! and Nite of the Living Dead! The Musical!) and there isn't any blood in The Brain From Planet X. :-\
-
BK, do you think something could be (re-)arranged?
;)
-
Yes, we can add some blood for you.
