Well, you've read the notes, the notes took their sweet time, and now it is time to post until the cows come home - they're taking their sweet time and have been for the last five years.
-
And the word of the day is: LIMINAL!
-
I have never seen The Red Shoes, either. :-\
-
DR Danise - Sheena's new friend is very handsome!!! :D
-
Well, vacation is over. I'm due back at the office today for the first time since November 25th. I'm eating my oatmeal and typing on the laptop in the living room. Ah, the benefits of wireless.
It's been a good vacation and I'm not entirely excited about going back but I do have a bonus check waiting and there are people at the office I enjoy seeing so it won't be all bad.
Oatmeal with fresh strawberries, a banana and raisins.
-
And I'll wash the bowl here at home instead of in the office.
I'm all alone in the HHW world so I will tune out and go read some of the New York Times.
-
I have never seen The Red Shoes, either. :-\
When I was recruited to this here site, it was with the understanding that there was a lot of sparkling conversation about a multitude of things concerning film and theater by a diverse group of sparkling members.
One thing I discovered very quickly was that there was great diversity, not to mention cult devotion to some genres, among the members. As the years have passed, there have been shifts among the members and their major interests and, subsequently, the topics of discussion herein.
Many express a curiousity about things they have not been exposed to and often find pleasures they had not heretofore known, while others express disappointment over films or books or play about which much has been said in a positive manner.
All of that being now said, I urge you all to rush out and rent "The Red Shoes" if you have not seen the film. Even if you dislike it (???!!!???!!!???!!), you really should be able to say you've seen it!
;D

I, too, am due back at the office where there are "some" people I enjoy seeing. My vacation has only been since December 13th, but it has been enjoyable and I'm totally not excited about the return, although I am wholly appreciative I have a job to which I "may" return.
It will not, however, happen today. No.
As has been true the past five days of my vacation, I will also remain home today coddling my chest cold and attending to the expulsions of all "the pleg-ma....what gets stuck in da tubes..."
Blunter I cannot be in that regard. I hate that this "thing" got hold of me. I also hate that it has not yet run its course.
-
DR Danise - Sheena's new friend is very handsome!!! :D
Don't let the hubby hear you say things like that!
-
And the word of the day is: LIMINAL!
The way I feel today, everything is going to be liminal by popular demand.
-
I am back at my desk. I have already disposed of some work that needed attention. I don't have a pile of work to be done so I'm not swamped.
I almost forgot one of my passwords. In the words of one of my colleagues, that means it must have been a good vacation. I sat at the log in screen for over a minute while I racked my brain trying to think of the unique combination of letters and numbers known only to me (and the IT folks) which would allow me to begin disposing of the aforementioned work. After some struggle, and one wrong attempt, it came back to me and I'm now truly back at the office.
-
So, if I feel so bad, what am I doing up at this hour?
Simple.
Ernestina Simple.
No...I am "in between" dosages of my "...breaks up and thins congestion..." medication. I got up to expel some of what had been thinned and broken up. It was truly a throat- and chest-wracking ordeal, after which I discovered I was congested to the point of feeling sinus pressure, so I've taken something to relieve "that", too. And...I'm sending an e-mail to co-workers 'splainin' why they won't see me today.
-
Last night, I watched "Mamma Mia" on Blu-ray disc.
It was fun. It was beautiful. It made me happy.
I watched the extras, too. Especially a hoot was the music director's comments about Pierce Brosnan's voice.
Totally a hoot!
I recorded "Cold Case", "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers and Sisters."
I may watch one or two of them later today.
-
Aww, Ron. I hope you feel better soon. I am glad, though, that you didn't get sick while at "home' with your family.
-
Aww, Ron. I hope you feel better soon. I am glad, though, that you didn't get sick while at "home' with your family.
Thanks, Laura. I'm glad of that, too. I was "sick" during my visit a few years ago, and it wasn't fun. I'll never know at what point I was exposed to this bug. I haven't been around anyone visibly sick, but then I did pick up a bunch of mail at the office and the post office. I handled it all, and who knows "who" had been handling it before I got it!
:)
-
Hope you feel better soon, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Oh, and I'm not like a picky kid who won't try something they think they won't like. I'll try almost anything! [Food and otherwise].
I know The Red Shoes is a gap for me, and I even own it!! I've just never found the time to take it down off the shelf and watch it. :)

And then it was Monday.

TOD: Hmmmmmmmmmmm......by actor, I am assuming we are listing actors of the male gender....so...
Jerry Lewis in The Nutty Professor and The Errand Boy - two separate movies, but a great title for another film.
Cary Grant in My Favorite Wife and Monkey Business, another great title when combined.
W.C. Fields and the Marx Brothers....in all of their movies....but especially You Can't Cheat an Honest Man for the former and Duck Soup for the latter.
Spanky & Alfalfa......

Get thee to a nunnery!
-
I forgot to mention (since such things are often debated herein) that I am breaking in new pillows. They are the hyper-allergenic kind, of course, and they are very "loft"-y.
The "replaced" pillows are well-deflated and highly scrunchable. I love scrunch in a pillow...it allows me to mold the pillow to meet whatever pressure-point needs I have when I'm going to sleep.
There is no scrunch in these new pillows.
They do, however, sleep well.
The old pillows are on standby, but probably won't be recalled to duty.
-
I am enjoying oatmeal with raisins.
However, since it comes in a styrofoam bowl from the cafeteria, I shall refrain from washing said bowl.
And for the record, I do feel like I'm missing all the fun.
-
I wonder if there is a measurable scrunchiness rating factor for pillows.

There should be!

Get thee to a nunnery!
How do you know that I'm not already at one?

I am beginning to have glimmerings that the emergency tooth repair that my dentist kindly performed on 12/24 may not last. I fear that darned wisdom tooth may have to come out. And I need to hold onto as much wisdom as I can!
-
Good morning, all! Today I hace to see my accountant over this nasty surprise from the NY State Dept of Taxation. I'll leave here in about 45 minutes, ytaking with me some of the BIT final edits to write up in Toyland, which is coincidentally right next door to my accountant.
I finished THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO last night; what a great novel! I recommend the Penguin unabridged edition translated by Mr Robin Buss highly.
And now, back to Toyland notes.
TOD:
Abbott & Costello
Buster Keaton
Red Skelton
Jack Benny

I am beginning to have glimmerings that the emergency tooth repair that my dentist kindly performed on 12/24 may not last. I fear that darned wisdom tooth may have to come out. And I need to hold onto as much wisdom as I can!
You have it backwards...those wisdom teeth keep wisdom "from" you. As soon as one is removed you are instantly smarter. Lose them all and you'll nearly be a genius.
That is, of course, unless you already believe yourself to be one. If that is the case, the removal of a wisdom tooth may bring in the harsh light of reality! :)
-
That is, of course, unless you already believe yourself to be one.
This is far from the case!! :)

My computer is misbehaving.

Laura DR: perhaps you should take the lead from your computer.

Ugh! I think I have the beginnings of what DR Ron (feel better DR Ron!) is experiencing.
During my errands on Friday, I ran into a CVS's Minuit Clinic to finally get myself a flu shot. However, there was a family ahead of me of which every member was sick as a dog. My common sense told me to get out of there but I decided to stick it out and get my shot. I used about half of their Purell lotion on my hands before I left but I think I still picked something up.
I started to feel a bit foggy throated yesterday afternoon and I was not able to sleep a wink because of a drippy throat and some low level achiness. I got myself out of bed not feeling bad enough to stay home but now that I'm here in the office I don't feel like doing much of anything. With any luck, I won't be called on to be productive.
-
Last night DR Cillaliz said:
I have to laugh every time I see "The Tales of Hoffman" That's also the title of a book about The Chicago 8 Trial. I'm aware of the Tales of Hoffman you are referring to, but I keep imagining both Abbie Hoffman and Judge Julius Hoffman singing and dancing....
Every time I see the title THE TALES OF HOFFMAN I think it's a book about DARK SHADOWS.
-
I need to thank our DR CharlesPogue for recommending Johnny Crawford's "Sweepin' the Clouds Away" recording. I love it. The band is great, Mr Crawford's vocals quite good, and I hope there will be a sequel recording ASAP.
-
TOD:
The Marx Brothers -- DUCK SOUP and A NIGHT AT THE OPERA
W.C. Fields -- THE BANK DICK
THE THREE STOOGES -- can't think of a specific title, but only those where the third member of the team was Curley or Shemp Howard.
Jerry Lewis -- THE NUTTY PROFESSOR
Laurel and Hardy -- THE MUSIC BOX, SONS OF THE DESERT, WAY OUT WEST
Charlie Chaplin -- MODERN TIMES, CITY LIGHTS, GOLD RUSH, THE GREAT DICTATOR

Feel better vibes to DR RonP. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I also did not really enjoy SUPERSTARS of DANCE. Interesting idea. But executed terribly. Really dumb. But as DR Jose said, it was weird seeing so many famililar faces. That popping guy and anya were also both on SYTYCD.
-
On tv for me tonight: new Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill.
I'm not going to watch it but tonight is the premiere of the Bachelor (although i did end up sitting through the last finale which featured his guy as the runner up).
I'm sort of curious about ABC's new show True Beauty. So i may check that out.
-
Vibes also for DR Dan the Man. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Don't hold your breath for a sequel, elmore. It took Mr. Crawford a decade to get this one out. I remember him talking about putting this album together back in the late nineties (which, alas, to a geezer like me, seems only yesterday).
But I concur. Great album (it's on my car DVD player right now) and I would love for him to do another.

Feel better soon, DR DtM!!

TOD
CARY GRANT - The Awful Truth, Holiday, Philadelphia Story, Arsenic & Old Lace, Gunga Din

I made something very yummy yesterday. I was making banana bread for my niece. And while i like banana muffins (more specifically with chocolate chips) for some reason i'm not as fond of banana bread.
So i added strawberries to my little loaf. And it turned out so good!

Good morning!
It's very mild here this morning, certainly nothing like one would expect in early January, but it's gray again, and we're to have more rain later today. It's been overcast for about four days now, and it's kind of tiresome.
-
I hope that those HHWers who are under the weather will soon get OVER the weather and feel better!
-
OVER the weather
Behind the moon?
Beyond the rain?

My favorite comic actors:

Very sorry to read here about Pat Hingle yesterday and to read his obit this morning. He was a wonderfully expressive actor, and he made some grand guest appearances on MURDER SHE WROTE that I remember vividly.
-
I'll be watching WITHOUT A PADDLE: NATURE'S CALLING this afternoon. It's only 90 minutes, and there are a few bonus features, but I may be able to get all of it finished this afternoon or certainly early in the evening and have the rest of the night to watch the rest of last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS, today's AS THE WORLD TURNS, and finish the Cukor: MEN WHO MADE THE MOVIES that I started last night and only got halfway through.

Vixmom! Good to see you! How are you feeling?

I met with the Dr this morning and he gave me an exam - the best news is that when we started this thing a month ago the tumor in my neck was 3 x 4 cm and hard - it is now 2 x 2 cm and soft. The Dr was very pleased.
I do have a slight swelling in my ear and "thrush" in my throat which he prescribed some more drugs for - CVS should throw us a party when this whole thing is over, we must have really boosted their 4th 1/4 sales numbers
At the moment I can not eat. I am using a feeding tube - perhaps by February or March - depending on wha the surgeon says after this first round of chemo and radiation is done at the end of January, I will be able to eat again.
One of the side effects of the radiation (since it's being done on my mouth and enck) is a swelling around my esophogus so I cannot swallow effectively - that combined with the radiation killing my taste buds and salvitory glands makes eating by mouth pretty much impossible these days.
The swelling has also made my voice disappear - a blessing to my family I am sure - I may have to invest in a big bell to get their attention!
I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and tell my boss I won't be back for a awhile - he expects me in tomorrow - I haven't been in since the 24th...but I just don't think I am strong enough and I certainly can't use the phone... I dread doing this - he has been very supportive during a very bad economic time - I don't know how he is going to continue carrying me.....

-
Wow, DR vixmom.
With you on the journey.
And ***JOB VIBES***!!!!

ABBOTT & COSTELLO: Not so much for their movies, but for their verbal routines.
CHARLIE CHAPLIN: CITY LIGHTS, THE KID, THE GREAT DICTATOR
BUSTER KEATON: STEAMBOAT BILL, JR.
DANNY KAYE: THE COURT JESTER

Get thee to a nunnery!

I assumed you were in a nunnery already, David. I also assumed you were the Mother Superior by now!
-
How could I forget Red Skelton? Although I guess mostly for his routines.....including Guzzler's Gin...it's a smooooooooooooth drink......and his Fox detective movies.
I also started to list Bob Hope.....I think he is really funny in The Great Lover and as DR CP mentioned The Road Pictures.....
-
Today I received my NEW Kritzerland release. It is a fine and fun CD. I like the liner notes on the films and from MR BK on discovering B. Hermann....
I especially like the two photos included of Mr Bennett and the late (joke) Ms Mills. I also like hearing Mr Quentin Tarantino called out as the culture cannibal he is.

Growing up I was not permitted to watch TV during the day. I still remember my father coming home & catching me watching TV, specifically THE RED SHOES. Instead of getting in trouble he was very happy to find me watching such a wonderful movie. From then on I watched all the old movies I wanted during the day. Of course way back then there weren't as many on as there are today & they were still a special treat.

Monday morning greetings! I have spent most of the morning on the phone with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System finding out that it can take up to 60 days from one's "effective date" for them to show you the money. Now, in this electronic age, my question is "Wha-a-a-a-at?" (A Drowsy Chaperone reference)
However, DR Vixmom's post put it all in perspective and I can only send vibes to her for both health and job issues.
-
I think I will watch the SUPERSTARS of DANCE tonight to see the American group dance....the soloist and the duet dancers were all pretty bad......
-
I made something very yummy yesterday. I was making banana bread for my niece. And while i like banana muffins (more specifically with chocolate chips) for some reason i'm not as fond of banana bread.

And you will get all of the months owed you on your first check when it finally arrives.

I'm heading downstairs now to get showered and shaved so I can go out on the usual Monday lunch with best friend John.

DR elmore, good luck with your accountant today!

But at least the heat is working. Again.

GREAT NEWS DR VIXMOM!! It is so very good to hear your tumor is shrinking!!
Endurance vibes as you continue to cope with the side effects, and vibes you make it through this with your job intact!

That's reassuring, DR JRand. Of course, the folks in Columbus have had 4 months to "process" my application...

And you will get all of the months owed you on your first check when it finally arrives.
Yes, they told me that this morning.

Thank you DRs Laura & Dan (the Man).
I’m very pleased to say I have a 10:00 appointment. When my primary physician left the practice last year, right after my check up, I wisely filled out the paperwork for a new Internist in town. Oddly enough I haven’t had a need to see her until now. The office wanted to give me a new patient visit at 3:00 which I highly protested. Once she realized I was all registered, to my great relief, I got the 10:00 AM slot.

Thanks DRS Ginny & JRand.

Great graphics through out the Booklet with the TN/BWB CD!

That's all Doug Haverty doing the layout and graphics. My only contribution was asking for Miss Mill's reflection in the knife and some red in the lettering.
-
Glad someone got their Twisted Nerve CD.
I don't have my CD yet, but does having a twisted nerve count?
-
Who the hell is Margie Hart, anyway?
-
Dan the Man and Jose - Thanks so much for everything!!
-
That's all Doug Haverty doing the layout and graphics. My only contribution was asking for Miss Mill's reflection in the knife and some red in the lettering.
Quite a striking image..... The advertising images from TN are also not the usual ones we see. I have the Window Card with the "chop chop" copy.....but not the poster in the book.
-
Who the hell is Margie Hart, anyway?
I think she wrote lyrics for Richard Rodgers before he hooked up with Oscar Hammerstein II.
-
Very accommodating of Lorenz Hart to have used "Who the hell is Margie Hart?" - it goes so well with "Where the hell is Marky Mark?" which I'm sure (!) Hart would have said if he were writing in 2009.
:)
-
I suppose it's some sort of comment about America's utter lack of sense about its theatrical heritage and short memory that the obits for veteran stage and screen actor Pat Hingle eulogize him as "Commissioner Gordon" and basically ignore the fact that he appeared in over twenty Broadway plays...notably as the original Gooper in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, winning a Tony for DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, and other distinguished performances in END AS A MAN; J.B.; & CHILD'S PLAY. Among his film performances beyond Batman, there was THE STRANGE ONE; SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS; THE UGLY AMERICAN; ALL THE WAY HOME; HANG 'EM HIGH; THE FALCON & THE SNOWMAN; and THE GRIFTERS. His TV performances were countless.
What would you want your obit headline to be: "Commissioner Gordon Dies" or "Tony-Award Winning Broadway Actor Dies"?
-
Margie apparently gave Gypsy a run for her money in the duds-doffing business.

Oy, I am shredding old tax returns from the 90s in order to make room for the new tax returns from the 00s. Oy.
I must say I concur with George from a long ago post that Kritzerland would be more grammatically correct to state Original (Television/Motion Picture) Soundtracks, since there are two on various releases. Nerdy English major sensibility shining through, there.

I've been slogging through this very long script. Shall now take a break and at ten I'll start making these calls I have to make.
-
the "Disney Princes Cruise"
I'm glad to see that the Princes are finally getting equal time! :)
Although I'm sure some of them could give the Princesses a run for their money!
-
AND I'm glad that DR JoseSPiano will still be getting his glamour cruise, albeit delayed.
-
Who the hell is Margie Hart, anyway?
I think she wrote lyrics for Richard Rodgers before he hooked up with Oscar Hammerstein II.
Much like the partnership between George Gershwin and his lovely wife, Ira.
Margie apparently gave Gypsy a run for her money in the duds-doffing business.
Thank you, DR CP.
You do learn something new every day at this here site!
-
Glad someone got their Twisted Nerve CD.
I don't have my CD yet, but does having a twisted nerve count?
It counts.
Are you feeling, otherwise, toothsome today, DR wingding?
-
I'm sorry Vixmom is feeling so poorly, but it's great news that the tumor is shrinking.
The rest of us really got nothin to complain about, you know.
'ceptin' DR TCB, of course... :-[
-
Are you feeling, otherwise, toothsome today, DR wingding?
I suppose that's for others to decide. ;)
-
Are you feeling, otherwise, toothsome today, DR wingding?
I suppose that's for others to decide. ;)
Ah, that slingjaw modesty comes to the fore...! :)
-
Made one of the calls.
-
Are you feeling, otherwise, toothsome today
Hows about winsome?
Yes, I think I feel winsome today! :)
-
It's gruesome, how winsome I feel!
-
the "Disney Princes Cruise"
I'm glad to see that the Princes are finally getting equal time! :)
Although I'm sure some of them could give the Princesses a run for their money!
SPOO!! -Although, a "Disney Princes Cruise" could be quite, well.. fun. ;)
-
I don't think I'd be able to identify any of the Disney princes, except maybe The Beast (only in Beast form, though).
-
Awww... I was just going through some photos that someone uploaded to their Facebook account. Sadly, one of them is of a college classmate of mine who died way too early in a hunting/boating accident (along with his father). Not exactly the trip down memory lane I was planning to take today. :-\
-
I don't think I'd be able to identify any of the Disney princes, except maybe The Beast (only in Beast form, though).
Well, even on the boat - and on other Disney properties - they're usually just identified as "Cinderella's Prince" and "Sleeping Beauty's Prince". However, there is Alladin/Prince Ali.
-
I've made three calls. On one I had to leave a voicemail.
-
I will be getting the rest of the Twisted Nerves this afternoon, so that's great and I can ship the last two orders.
-
How about this for a correction? ;)
"Dominic Holden, news reporter at The Stranger, regrets that in an attempt to spell out the word “brassiere” in a Slog post, he mistakenly spelled it “brazier,” which actually means “barbecue.” He further regrets that upon trying to amend his error, he spelled it “brassier,” which, if anything, means “more brassy.” Holden recognizes that, as a homosexual, he should avoid subjects related to women’s undergarments."

Feel Better Vibes to my Little Snarky-Pooh RP
-
And of course, vibes of healing and strength to DR Vixmom!
-
I think I will watch the SUPERSTARS of DANCE tonight to see the American group dance....the soloist and the duet dancers were all pretty bad......
The whole idea of mixing the groups, solos and duets was not smart IMO. I don't really find it that interesting to watch most of the solos. And with so many styles it really is like comparing apples and oranges. Not sure if i will watch. I may just speed through it in a few minutes.
-
Accounting vibes to DR Elmore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR Vixmom, i am very glad to read the tumor has shrunk. But sorry to hear about your troubles eating and at work. I'm sure your boss will be understanding.
-
Speaking of disney princesses, the other day i decided to ask my niece who is 3 years 3 months old who her favorite disney princess was (just to see what she would say).
She thought about it and said, "hmmm i think my favorite would have to be cinderella".
That is who i thought her favorite was. But i wasn't sure what she would say!
-
Btw, congrats to professional dancers Karina and Maxim (from DANCING WITH THE STARS) who just got engaged (i didn't even know they were a couple).
-
I suppose it's some sort of comment about America's utter lack of sense about its theatrical heritage and short memory that the obits for veteran stage and screen actor Pat Hingle eulogize him as "Commissioner Gordon" and basically ignore the fact that he appeared in over twenty Broadway plays...notably as the original Gooper in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, winning a Tony for DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, and other distinguished performances in END AS A MAN; J.B.; & CHILD'S PLAY.
When I think of Pat Hingle, I don't remember him as the commissioner. Thank you for listing his many wonderful performances.
-
I'm sorry Vixmom is feeling so poorly, but it's great news that the tumor is shrinking.
The rest of us really got nothin to complain about, you know.
So true, except when I pee ;D
I'm going to attempt a walk now, right after I pick up my antibiotics.
-
TOD: Up to 1975, you say?
Peter Sellers
Marx Brothers
Carol Burnett and her crew on her TV show (though, I think you specified movies so that entry may not count)
Jack Lemmon in his comedies -- and he and Walter Matthau were always funny together
Mel Brooks' movies -- Young Frankenstein, The Producers
Madeline Kahn -- Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein
Monty Phython -- The Holy Grail (1975)
Babs in some of her comedies in the 60s like What's Up Doc? and The Owl and the Pussycat
-
I've now made all the calls and written all the e-mails. And I've written a page and will do about four more later today. I don't think I'm jogging today - too chilly out, but we'll see how I feel.
-
I wonder if it's still snowing in Portland, OR?

Where did you get that picture of my living room?

I am happy to announce I have just reached the Jurassic Level of my office environment. So far virtually no dead bodies have been found.

I was underwhelmed. After seeing Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance (I was so impressed this past season with that show -- the dancers and the choreography ...), this show sucked -- most of these entries came across as most amateur-ish -- and many leaned more heavily on the acrobatic than the musicality of the movements -- some even comical (like laugh out loud) such as the soloists from Africa and Russia. SNARK! or a Mer-roww! (followed by a hiss).
Needless to say they lost this viewer ...

I have officially begun the 2008 "tax bucket" (we keep our stuff in a big Tupperware thingamajig until I'm ready to go to our preparer. This is what passes for excitement around these parts.

:-X
;D

BK, I'm telling you, you need to rush right out and/or scour the internet for the two Girls from Bahia CDs (AKA Quarteto em Cy). You haven't lived until you've heard them do Makin Whoopee and Oh, Susannah. :) It's really interesting how distinctive these mid 60s Warner Bossa releases are from a sound standpoint--completely different from, say, the A&M/CTi stuff or even the Verve releases which were so popular back then.
-
Our first "tax bucket" items arrived today. Whoopee!
-
oh, and The Little Rascals --- lots of funny stuff and characters ....

I saw my accountant; whether the screw-up on the state's claim they did not receive my 2003 or 2004 return is mine or the firm helping me during my IRS crisis, I'm still liable for the fact that I owe a huge interest on what I owed, dammit! I will now spend some time looking through my 2005 and 2006 returns for the payment I made to NY State. I hope i can find their bill along with the cancelled check. Oy!

That's strange -- I had logged in, been posting, and my name was showing on the list, but the message at the top was greeting me as "Hey Guest", so I just logged back in and now it's greeting me as "Hey Miss Karen" -- this new HHW format is most bizarre -- has a mind of its own ... spooky ...

Well, whatever, now that I'm no longer a guest, I can log out. Adios!

From 2 or 3 years ago? I can probably locate it amongst my bank statementas if nothing else.
Brent Barrett just called me! How exciting.

I've just been answering e-mails and trying to organize things. I just can't deal with the chilly weather to do the long jog. I'm going to get something to eat, then try to do a few more pages, although I'm ahead of where I normally would be, so I'm not concerned if I only do one or two more, although I'd love to finish this chapter - maybe tomorrow that will happen.

OK... I need to stop checking Facebook today. It seems that every time I check, there's someone from either my college, high school or grade school(!!?!?!!!!??) days asking to be my friend, to reconnect. It's been cool, but a bit overwhelming. For better or worse.

I don't know why I feel so cold today - brrrrrr. I've got the heat on but it's just not warming me up. Oh, well, guess I'll go attempt to get some chicken tenders, which I wanted yesterday - perhaps the rich Studio City mothers will not be there today.

Actually, he didn't win; he was nominated but Henry Jones won that year for SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO.

Finally, the gray moved out for awhile, and we had blue skies and SUN. It won't last; more gray clouds are already on the horizon, but it was nice for a few hours this afternoon. John was late picking me up, so I did get to enjoy a good bit of fresh air on the porch waiting for him.
-
I did have time to watch WITHOUT A PADDLE: NATURE'S CALLING, and it was as forgettable a comedy as one could imagine. Well, the nature photography was pretty, but all of the comedy was awful, and when the two girls who have "gone back to nature" finally appear, they're in these designer tops and skirts. The guys have a collected I.Q. just a bit shy of dandruff (even though one's a lawyer and one's a nurse), and I was VERY glad when it was finally over. Big comedy CGI moments, a Semper Fi unit of squirrels and a killer hummingbird. Argh!
-
There are five bonus features, but I wanted to skim today's ATWT, so I put those on hold until I go back down.
-
Scanning through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing, but the boys are all on tomorrow's show.

Looks like after I finish BROTHERS & SISTERS tonight, I'll be able to finally get to ROSE OF WASHINGTON SQUARE.

Will you begin ignoring people you aren't interested in connecting with? I've ignored two invites, however they obviously invited me in error.

Hope you are feeling better, Jane.

Thank you DR Laura. Drinking loads of water really made a difference. Yesterday I told Keith he could drive me to the doctor. Today I drove myself & hiked. I already began the first dose of the 3 days of antibiotics.
-
During the brief exam the doctor banged around on my back & asked if it hurt. My response was "yes", pause, "but no more than that would normally have hurt". She laughed.

DR Ginny, how did you like the rest of CRANFORD?

Thank you DR FJL.

DR elmore, great news. Does this mean you can prove you don't owe money or is that definite?
We began CRANFORD last night & enjoyed it very much. We moved the second disc to the top of our NetFlix queue.

I had a momentary freak out this morning (shut up, Singdaw). ;) I was filing the title to our Isuzu Axiom, which we just paid off, and I suddenly wondered where the title was to the Subaru I inherited when my Mom died. It wasn't in my main filing cabinet, so I went out and looked in the glove compartment--nope. Then it dawned on me I had had a file folder about our cars circa 1996 at one point, so I went down and found the folder in the second file box I looked in, and sure 'nuff, there was the Subaru title. I now have it in its own folder labelled "Subaru", and have moved it upstairs to the main filing cabinet. Yes, I'm anal about organization. :)
my house would give you a heart attack

Well my boss was very understanding - as soon as he heard my voice (what there is of it ) he told me that my number one job was getting better... God Bless that man!

Thank you DR Vixmom.
Did you speak to your boss?
Are you getting enough fluids in you? Can you drink ok?
-
And one for molar

(or at least vibes for singjaw's wisdom tooth)
-
DR Ginny, how did you like the rest of CRANFORD?
DR Elmore - we both enjoyed it immensely. The "making of..." feature was fun, too. When Richard and I went to Middletown Public Library today, there was a copy sitting right there on the recently-returned shelf. I'd still be waiting for it from Dayton Metro!
-
My problems seem very small right now - the Vixter told me a school mate of hers was killed last week - dressed all in black the boy was out with his pals and stepped out in front of a car.
He was a senior who was in her chorus class last year and this and always very kind to to her. I had heard many stories about Peter. I cannot begin to understand the pain his family must be going through right now (or the driver of the car tho' we all know he was blameless - Peter wasn't paying attention)
The same thing happened to my best friend's neice under nearly identical circumstances 12 years ago. Her parents still haven't really recovered. The Vixter was 3 when Jill died and knows she is the reason she doesn't "hang out" with her friends after dark - now she understands even more fully ---
RIP Peter, 17 was too young to leave -
-
VIBES for Elmore that the IRS is in error and that he has the proof

Condolences to Peter's family.

Condolences to Peter's family from all of us as well
-
I'm now off to see Marcy and Zina's show DEAR EDWINA. I heard Marcy and Zina are actually doing a mini-concert after the show and I'm looking forward to it.
-
Jose, yes, I'd love the recipe. I did have chicken tenders from Gelson's, but not until after waiting twenty minutes - I've never seen the deli like this before - maybe everyone's New Year's resolution was to ONLY buy from Gelson's deli.
-
I also had some righteous red potato salad, and I bought some assorted biscotti for snacks.
-
Looking forward to hearing if people like Twisted Nerve.
-
DR Vixter I am very sorry about your friend Peter. Condolences to all who loved him.
I remember when when Bryan was 18 he purchased a jacket & said "Mom, you are going to love this. It has reflectors." He was right, I loved it.
-
Virtually all packed for the trip to Austin tomorrow.
And, my review copy of VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA arrived today.
I've been looking forward to seeing that one.
-
Have a GREAT trip!
-
Jose, yes, I'd love the recipe. I did have chicken tenders from Gelson's, but not until after waiting twenty minutes - I've never seen the deli like this before - maybe everyone's New Year's resolution was to ONLY buy from Gelson's deli.
Well, here's the basic recipe:
Open up a package of (raw) chicken tenders (or you could buy some chicken breasts and slice them up yourself)
Season to taste
Cook in a sauté pan or in a 375 degree oven until done.
Eat.
:)
-
Seems difficult, but I'll try it.
-
Thanks to everyone for the tooth vibes~~~~!!!!
-
***COMFORT VIBES*** to the family of Peter
-
***TRAVEL VIBES*** for DR Druxy and family
-
Or here's one from About.com: Southern Food:
These chicken tenders are seasoned, then breaded and oven-fried. Scroll down to see more chicken recipes.
Ingredients:
1 pound chicken tenders
Greek or Mediterranean seasoning or other seasoning blend
1/4 cup white wine
2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
Italian seasoned bread crumbs
Preparation:
Sprinkle chicken tenders lightly with Greek seasoning. Prepare a cookie sheet with foil sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Mix coating of wine and mustard and dip chicken pieces. Roll in bread crumbs. Place on cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 475° put chicken in and bake for about 12 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. Serves 4.
-Which is basically the same as my "recipe". ;)
If you're not too keen on using mustard and wine as the "stick", you can also use mayonnaise, Miracle Whip, or even just Pam or Pam-like product.
And in place of the breadcrumbs, you could use crushed corn flakes, potato chips, some chopped nuts (almonds, cashews), potato "buds", etc.
I still remember an "oven-baked" french fries recipes that simply called for placing the sliced potatoes in a Zip-loc bag, then pouring in some bottled Italian dressing, then tossing them a bit to coat them, then pouring in some bread crumbs, and tossing again to coat, then bake. Very tasty.

Oh, and I had a message from my insurance agent re the accident of three weeks ago. He said they are not paying. In fact, the jerk who caused the accident has never responded to the insurance company's repeated messages, nor has this guy's insurance company ever responded. In fact, the only call my insurance company had was from the guy's body shop asking for payment. Now, keep in mind that despite him DEMANDING my license and insurance information, which I gave him, he actually did not show me his - he wrote it on his business card. Frankly, I think something fishy is going on - I think he KNEW it was his fault and I'm beginning to think he didn't report it to his insurance company and just had his body shop call and try to get payment. But given the amount of time that's now gone by without any contact, my insurance company is closing the book and refusing to pay the body shop or anyone else anything. So, unless the guy does what I thought he'd always do - lie - I think this thing is done.
-
Hi folks,
I have bad news. When I came home tonight, Mr. Boxer was gone. I don't know if he somehow climbed the fence and got out or if someone got him but I have no clue.
My front porch is gone as well but I kinda expected that. They found all kinds of rotten wood under so now I have to have a new roof. I'm getting scared. I knew I was going to have to spend some money but I'm very afraid as to how much this all is going to wind up costing me.
The guys just left and Sheena is hungry. I don't know if I am or not at this point. I also have to change from my work clothes.
Be back later.
-
The rest of the CDs arrived and I'll get them shipped out tomorrow morning or maybe even tonight.
-
Seems difficult, but I'll try it.
Hmmm... Why do I think that you did not intentionally leave off the ;)?
;)
Of course, if you want to go the Gelson's route, you could buy a bag of the pre-breaded, and par-fried chicken tenders from the Frozen Food section, then cook them up in a deep-fryer or a pan of hot oil. -I'm betting that Gelson's cooks pre-prepped chicken tenders.
*And from years of cooking them for my nieces and nephew, Tyson makes some decent oven-cookable frozen chicken tender products with various breadings and seasonings.

You didn't even get the name of his insurance company? In any case... I hope the "thing is done", and doesn't come back to "haunt" you once the jerk is back from his ski vacation in Aspen. ;)
-
{{{{{{{{{{DR DANISE}}}}}}}}}}
I hope that Mr. Boxer is back with his family.
As for your porch and roof, well... Have they given you an estimate yet? I know you mentioned that the contractor would not take a penny until after the work is done, but you really should have some sort of "agreement" as to what kind of money you will be shelling out once the work is done.
-

Yes, I got the name and policy number of his insurance - I just didn't "see" it - he wrote it on his business card, along with his driver's license number, which I immediately phoned in to my insurance company.
-
And he obviously wasn't on a vacation, since he took his car to a body shop.
-
And I didn't think I needed to put the :) next to my comment about the chicken tenders. Cooking I know how to do.

;D

DR Danise, It is possible Mr. B is an escape artist & that is why he was running free. I wonder if he will return. Did you have a tag on the collar? If you want a call on him I suggest letting the shelters know in case he shows up there. Did the workmen have any idea what time he disappeared? Wherever he is, I wish him well.
I'm sorry about the roof & agree with DR Jose, make sure you have a guaranteed amount, in writing & signed by him, the contractor may not go over.
-
And I didn't think I needed to put the :) next to my comment about the chicken tenders. Cooking I know how to do.
I laughed :)

OK.. I need to get out of the apartment for a bit.
It's been a weird day. I really haven't done anything, but, yet, it still feels like I've been busy. I had a slew of e-mails and phone calls to deal with - all having to do with "end of the year/beginning of the year" stuff. -And spending a couple of weeks in Charleston keeps looking better and better. We shall see.
In any case, I need to get some fresh air and stretch my legs. I KNOW I've spent way too much time online today - as my posts from the past couple of hours have attested to. -My apologies.
Laters...
-
You never have to apologize for posts.
-
Aww, Danise. I'm sorry about Mr. Boxer. Hopefully his family saw him and took him home.
I'm sorry to hear about the extra house repairs. We had extra repairs, too, when we had our roof and our repipe done. But it's nice when it's all fixed.

VIBES for Elmore that the IRS is in error and that he has the proof
Trust me: New York State is not in error. The question is, who was the one who screwed up, me, my accountant, or the tax service, and how much can we get deducted from the bill?
-
I'm now off to see Marcy and Zina's show DEAR EDWINA. I heard Marcy and Zina are actually doing a mini-concert after the show and I'm looking forward to it.
How lovely. Maybe they can talk about Bruce Coughlin's work on EVER AFTER!
-
In other news...
I will not be sailing the Caribbean two weeks from now. However, the "Disney Princes Cruise" has just been postponed, not cancelled, so I will be sailing later this Spring. :)
Does that mean that you will be going to the Inauguration?
-
I was wondering if any of the HHW chefs would have any input to my dilemna.
I am making macaroni and cheese tomorrow night.
Some of the recipes call for just making the sauce on the stove, the noodles on the stove and then mixing.
Some of the recipes call for then layering the noodles and the sauce and putting it in the oven for 20 minutes.
My niece is used to Kraft Dinner type mac & cheese. So i'm thinking she would be more familiar with option #1. I'm curious about option #2, because i'd like to see what this does to the dish. But will it stay creamy?
Also i am going to make it before i get to her house. So i was thinking about doing the sauce and the noodles at my house and then putting it in the oven at my sister's house.
Any opinions would be welcome.
-
I saw my accountant; whether the screw-up on the state's claim they did not receive my 2003 or 2004 return is mine or the firm helping me during my IRS crisis, I'm still liable for the fact that I owe a huge interest on what I owed, dammit! I will now spend some time looking through my 2005 and 2006 returns for the payment I made to NY State. I hope i can find their bill along with the cancelled check. Oy!
Double Oy! You will be able to get a copy of the check through your bank at least.
From 2 or 3 years ago? I can probably locate it amongst my bank statementas if nothing else.
Brent Barrett just called me! How exciting.
This is crazy. So if you can find that they cashed your cheque then you are good?
I would imagine you could get a copy from your bank.
Vibes this gets resolved. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What about frozen chicken tenders? I buy those sometimes.
-
There is a live chat with Matt Dallas of "Kyle XY" at Comcast.net right now and I asked a question...and he answered!
4:41 [Comment From George]
Have you ever done theater? If you haven't, is that something that you'd be interested in?
4:42 Matt Dallas: i actually started in theater. it is my first love. i miss it tremendously. i can't wait to get back on the stage. i started doing theater when i was 12 and never stopped.
Pretty cool, huh?
;)
-
DR Elmore glad you found the paperwork!
-
Me, too!
DR Danise, I'm so sorry about Mr Boxer. Maybe he went home to tell his owners goodbye.
As to your repairs, why is it I can't win the lottery when we all need it????????
-
Sorry DR Danise about Mr. Boxer. Will you look for him? I can't imagine that the real owners would take him from your backyard without leaving a note. :(
-
Pretty cool DR George.
-
And I didn't think I needed to put the :) next to my comment about the chicken tenders. Cooking I know how to do.
Well, since there's no "Help/Call Jose" button on your stove...

Sorry but this cracked me up.
Actually i usually cook my chicken tenders (the frozen ones) in the oven.

I wonder if Mr. Boxer did escape. I mean would it be easy for him to get out? For someone else to get in to take him?
I agree with what DR Jane said re: both things (dog and roof).
-
DR Jennifer. I cook the sauce on the stove, mix them together and bake. I would definitely prepare it at home and then bake it at your sister's house. My recipe is from the Ratner's cookbook. I will email it to you. My children would not eat the Kraft version having grown up with this flavorful sour cream recipe.
-
DR Danise, so sorry about Mr. B. I'd call the pound and tell them about him in case someone else takes him there. Would they contact you if a boxer was brought in a week or would you need to contact them daily to see if they have a boxer? You never know, Mr. B could end up there.
As far as the repairs, I agree about getting an estimate. It's scary to start projects because you just don't know where they will end up.
-
Aww, Danise. I'm sorry about Mr. Boxer. Hopefully his family saw him and took him home.
It seems weird to me that the family could have seen him (in her backyard??). And just taken him home? I don't know pet etiquette. But if someone else found your pet and is caring for them i would think they would let the person know not to worry.
-

If i bake i will do the baking part at my sister's house. But half the recipes i found said to not bake just to do the stove part.
I'm just hoping it will be creamy enough if i bake it. I know she loves it the Kraft dinner way.
But then again it might not stay creamy during the travel even if i do it that way.

I found out today that my carpet is back ordered and won't get to Sioux City until the end of january. That's actually fine with me. I discovered today I have TONS of work to do and after taking time off my checkbook needs me to do tons of work at the office, so I'd just as soon leave the basement in the basement for awhile so I can heal and make some money

The part i don't get is why are they telling you this now. They assumed you'd want to pay years of interest? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Speaking of the office. I need to go there for a while. That is after I return the over the toilet shelving system that is too wide. It's nice to unspend money for a change.
-
It is mind boggling it took so many years for the government to catch the error. :o ::)

My guess is he escaped. I'm grateful DD Sheena was still in the yard.

Mr Boxer may be a roamer.

I am watching a bit of SUPERSTARS OF DANCE....I want to see the American group and then....I shall probably bail.

Well HHW'ers.....after I saw MILK I was ready to give Sean Penn the Oscar nod.....but I just saw THE WRESTLER......and Mr Mickey Rourke .... whew!

bk - very interesting about your adversary. I do hope that you shan't hear another word about it.
-
And since Sheena is not in the mood for romance, maybe Mr. Boxer decided to move on.
-
DR's MBarnum & JMK, are you going?
"On February 12, animal advocates will gather in Salem for the 2009 Humane Lobby Day for Oregon."

So sorry, DR Danise. I am SO glad Mr. Boxer didn't take Sheena with him.

The Vixter was 3 when Jill died and knows she is the reason she doesn't "hang out" with her friends after dark - now she understands even more fully ---
RIP Peter, 17 was too young to leave -
Vixmom, my condolences to The Vixter and to Peter's Family.
-
Finished about four pages today and am only a page away from finishing chapter two. So, tomorrow I'll finish and then begin chapter three.
-
Apparently I made a boo-boo in my liner notes for Twisted Nerve. The first Herrmann/Hitch collaboration was The Trouble With Harry. I always forget this because I didn't see Trouble With Harry until 1957 and I have it ingrained in my cranium that that's when it came out, when, in fact, it was released in 1955 PRIOR to The Man Who Knew Too Much. Oh, well. That's the problem when I'm doing personal reminiscences like Remembering Bernard Herrmann - I tend only to fact check on the main part of the notes, not the personal stuff.
-
I just read THIS (http://bigpicture.fancast.com/2009/01/back_to_the_future_bollywood_s.html) article that MBarnum and others might be interested in...it seems that there might be a Bollywood version of "Back to the Future" called "Action Replay (http://www.bttf.com/forums/blogs/timetraveller/53-back-future-remake-set-shoot-india.html)."

I would be worried that he could/would escape again!

Jennifer, with a three-year-old who loves Kraft Mac & Cheese, be prepared for her to spit it out because "it's not our kind!"
My sister-in-law looked like she wanted to crawl under the table when her kid did that.

That's funny.

Good Evening!
I just got back from my walk, and while I was walking around I saw this:

Even if you dislike it (???!!!???!!!???!!), you really should be able to say you've seen it!
;D
My mother used to own a pair of red shoes.

And if that place doesn't help, I guess as a last resort...

I actually owe that photo to a tip-off from @newyorkist on Twitter.

LOL.....perfect Twitter content.

Well, it's time for me to leave work. I have some TV watching to do when I get home.
Until later!
-
Did you get an email about your liner notes, MR BK.....
No, someone posted about it. A silly error, but since it's in the personal section, I don't really think I'll lose sleep over it.

No......lose no sleep.....

I met with the Dr this morning...
Dear DR Vixmom:
Thank-you for being so honest with us as to what is happening.
MAJOR vibage for you, the Vixter, Vixdad, and everyone else you hold dear.

Well I don't have to watch SUPERSTARS OF DANCE anymore.....it can go on without me.
-
I think I will watch deeveedee while I wait for the snow and ice to begin. Watch out DR GINNY it's headed your way as well.
-
I don't know why I feel so cold today - brrrrrr. I've got the heat on but it's just not warming me up....
I'm...about to whip up a batch of Tuna Glop for our dinner.
Tuna Glop...that sounds like what I've been hacking up the past five days.
(Sorry, Ginny...but the door was wide open with a name like "Tuna Glop").
-
...What would you want your obit headline to be: "Commissioner Gordon Dies" or "Tony-Award Winning Broadway Actor Dies"?
Well, since my name isn't Gordon...
-
the "Disney Princes Cruise"
I'm glad to see that the Princes are finally getting equal time! :)
Although I'm sure some of them could give the Princesses a run for their money!
SPOO!! -Although, a "Disney Princes Cruise" could be quite, well.. fun. ;)
Sounds to me like a Freudian Slip (in basic black, with lace details, of course).

It's part of the intro-monologue into "Dance: 10, Looks: 3" from A Chorus Line.

I don't know why I feel so cold today - brrrrrr. I've got the heat on but it's just not warming me up. Oh, well, guess I'll go attempt to get some chicken tenders, which I wanted yesterday - perhaps the rich Studio City mothers will not be there today.
Dear Esteemed BK - did you ask the people at the Deli how long it would be before they'd have more tenders, or did you just assume they wouldn't bother?
-
WOW!
So, the Facebook "reunions" continue... I was just contacted by another friend/classmate from my grade school and high school days. It turns out he's a co-author of a recently published book about the rescue efforts at The Pentagon on 9/11.

That part that made me laugh was the writer wondering it they even had the rights yet! LOL! I don't think any Bollywood producer has ever even considered the need to get the rights on anything first!
And it seems to me that there was already a Bollywood version of BACK TO THE FUTURE just this year. LOVE STORY 2050 it was called and it tanked at the box office.

Alan Ladd is ALADDIN!
He's also Scrooge McDuck!
Nope, that was someone YOUNGer.

Well HHW'ers.....after I saw MILK I was ready to give Sean Penn the Oscar nod.....but I just saw THE WRESTLER......and Mr Mickey Rourke .... whew!
Yes, Mickey Rourke gives a truly committed performance. (OUCH!)
-
IF they're cooking the tenders it usually takes about twenty-five minutes to get them back in the serving case. In this instance, they hadn't even started cooking anymore.
-
And I'm happy to report that for the third straight year I have been made a Yelp "Elite" - not many of us - I'm honored.

I am going to take a swig of my favorite nightcap, Nyquil, before bed and see if it helps knock this cold out before it sets in too deep.
And would someone step in as editor to rewrite that sentence before we go to press?

What? And miss TRUE BEAUTY?!?
-
Well HHW'ers.....after I saw MILK I was ready to give Sean Penn the Oscar nod.....but I just saw THE WRESTLER......and Mr Mickey Rourke .... whew!
I haven't seen either film, but just based on the fact that Hollywood seems to love a comeback and to show forgiveness by granting awards, two weeks ago I would have said that Mickey Rourke would win the Oscar for THE WRESTLER. However, last week, I read some very petty statements by Mickey trashing Sean Penn's performance as not being all that good and that Seasn didn't even have a nomination in the bag, much less winning the award. That soured me a little on Mickey's chances for winning. The awards are still a month and a half away, but I'll have to see how the next few weeks ago and if he makes any more reckless statements.
-
I was wondering if any of the HHW chefs would have any input to my dilemna.
I am making macaroni and cheese tomorrow night.
...My niece is used to Kraft Dinner type mac & cheese....
If what she is used to is the Kraft Dinner type Mac & Cheese Product Which Isn't Really Cheese But The Law Allows Them To Call It That So What Can You Do, then that is exactly what she will want. Preferably the day-glo type. The elder Grandlad objects to being served any other type of Mac & Cheese, because it's what he's always known and no other type of Mac & Cheese is allowed.
-
I had a full evening of viewing.
I began by finishing up the bonus features on WITHOUT A PADDLE: NATURE'S CALLING. Stuff like this is the downside of reviewing discs. For every lovely film or true classic you get to watch, you have a handful of this kind of crummy enterprise not worth anyone's time. True, lots of work went into the film, and I don't take THAT for granted, but the end product really isn't up to par.
-
Next, I finished the George Cukor: MAN WHO MADE THE MOVIES documentary which I had started last night. The clips end in 1954 (A STAR IS BORN) even though he went on making movies and TV-films until 1981. Too bad some of his later efforts weren't covered since his TV work like LOVE AMONG THE RUINS (for which he won an Emmy) is quite fine.
-
Next, I finished BROTHERS & SISTERS. A good episode with Kevin and Tommy reaching a truce, and Justin making a major move toward changing his life.
-
Next I watched ROSE OF WASHINGTON SQUARE. Very enjoyable pseudo-Fanny Brice story. I wish they had given Jolson some new songs rather than just letting him strut through a catalog of his old hits. I also loved that during "My Man" it was Tyrone Power who was crying as opposed to Alice Faye. THAT was different.
-
I ended my evening watching the "making-of" featurette on the disc about the production of the movie. Well, I mean, with Miles Kreuger, Michael Finestein, and the always entertaining and knowledgeable Dr. Drew Casper in attendance, how could I NOT watch this featurette?
-
I got no review copies today (though I'm supposed to be getting VICKY CHRISTINA BARCELONA). So, tomorrow will be a day off for me as will every day until some other product comes in.

Page Thirteen Dance!!!

Alan Ladd is ALADDIN!
He's also Scrooge McDuck!
Nope, that was someone YOUNGer.
Dang. You're right, my boo boo.

Time to wussburger.
-
Heading down to bed myself.
Good night!

In other news...
I will not be sailing the Caribbean two weeks from now. However, the "Disney Princes Cruise" has just been postponed, not cancelled, so I will be sailing later this Spring. :)
Does that mean that you will be going to the Inauguration?
I'm working on that. Although, I think my tickets may have already been re-distributed, spoken-for, which is OK.
-
And speaking of the Inauguration:
During yesterday's final performance of Hairspray, Tracy Turnblad/Marissa Jaret Winokur said:
"The Corny Collins Show and The White House are now integrated!"
*I wasn't there. I read about her "embellishment" in various sources.
-
Matt H I meant to mention that yesterday I saw the first 4 epiosdes of Big Love on HBO have you seen this yet?
I couldn't decide whether or not I liked it but I didn't change the channel
-
I am feeling much stronger today - maybe getting almost 700 calories into me and an hydration treatment - tomorrow I try for 1200 calories - the goal is 1800- 2000 but the trouble is getting it in and getting it to stay in...
I have lost the extra 10 lbs I packed on when I found out about the big C and am back down to 135. They are trying to keep me from losing more.

Then there's Option #3:
-Place cooked/boiled elbow macaroni in baking dish.
-Mix in shredded cheddar cheese.
-Pour copious amounts of melted butter over everything.
-Bake.
As for the mixing and baking or not baking - I think it all depends if you want some sort of crust on top. Personally, I really love baked mac'n'cheese - Corner piece, Please! Adding a layer of breadcrumbs on top is a nice addition too. -Oh, and some sliced pepperoni for "Polka Dotted Mac'n'Cheese".
It also depends how soupy you like your mac'n'cheese. Baking it makes everything "set up".
-
Danise be very careful about what you are signing re: roof repairs there are scam artists out there who are actually putting a mortgage on your home - please be sure to get it reviewed by a competent attorney/banker that you trust BEFORE you sign - if you have already signed you should have a 72 hour window to rescind -

Hi, DR vixmom!
-
and sorry about Mr. Boxer
-
I was wondering today Jose, have you ever considered going on a game show like Jeopardy or Millionaire?
-
Well... I've actually been feeling a little "under" all day. The walk I took earlier did help, but I think I just need a good night's sleep which means NOT falling asleep with my lights and radio on. -I've been tuning into WNYC lately, and they're overnight music programming is not exactly sleep-complementary. So...
Goodnight.

I was wondering today Jose, have you ever considered going on a game show like Jeopardy or Millionaire?
I've taken the "Jeopardy" test twice, and just missed going on to the second stage by three(!) questions. I haven't thought about "auditioning" for "Millionaire", but I have two friends who have been on the show. One did rather well, and my other friend's episode(s?) have yet to air, so I have no idea how he did.
-
OH and while the cooking lessons are going on - I finally got hold of some ginger root - now how exactly am I supposed to prepare tea from it? Do I peel it? How much should I use? Should it be grated or sliced?

I ahev a friend who was on both, years ago - he was doing well and then suddenly panicked, doubted himself and gave a wrong answer (final jeopardy inthe one instance , $50,000 inthe the 2nd ) and well that's all you wrote
Still he ended up with enough money from Millionaire for a new car and got nice parting gifts from Jeopardy

I think you 'd be a natural at either

Actually my secret wish is to get picked up by the Cash Cab with Jose, FJL , Elmore and former DR WFO - I will wisely keep my mouth shut and take a 1/5 of the winnings
-
Well I must get to bed - Radiation is at 7 AM
-
NIGHT!!
-
Night Vixmom!
-
I have now watched 15 or so episodes of M SQUAD, and I have decided that Lee Marvin was the biggest ham in Hollywood.
I like the show, and the guest stars are great.
-
We have returned from Disneyland with a great time behind us. I'll be catching up tomorrow. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
-
ACTION REPLAY is the name of a Nintendo DS cheat system--I know because both my boys have one.
-
I don't know why I'm still full from chicken tenders and potato salad eaten at one-thirty, but I am. Annoying.
-
I, too, was watching Rose Of Washington Square - I don't really see the Fanny Brice stuff, since Alice Faye is about as funny as a brick, but I haven't gotten to the end yet, so maybe there's something there other than the fact she's in love with a Nicky Arnstein type. I do love Jolson, though. And William Frawley. I got waylaid by two long telephonic calls, so I'll probably watch the last forty minutes tomorrow night.
-
I just read THIS (http://bigpicture.fancast.com/2009/01/back_to_the_future_bollywood_s.html) article that MBarnum and others might be interested in...it seems that there might be a Bollywood version of "Back to the Future" called "Action Replay (http://www.bttf.com/forums/blogs/timetraveller/53-back-future-remake-set-shoot-india.html)."
Well, if at first you don't succeed... :D
-
And I'm happy to report that for the third straight year I have been made a Yelp "Elite" - not many of us - I'm honored.
I have no idea what this means.
-
Just had to share.
;)

And on that note (D-flat), I'm going to bed. Today, I got to work a lot later than I had planned and I don't want to do that again. So, good night, all. :)
-
"Oh, yeah, let's get one thing straight. See, I never heard about "The Red Shoes," I never saw "The Red Shoes," I didn't give a..."
Is that a quote from something?
It's part of the intro-monologue into "Dance: 10, Looks: 3" from A Chorus Line.
THAT's why it seems familiar!
-
I guess no one listened to their Twisted Nerve CDs - my nerves are twisted from this information.
-
Next, I finished BROTHERS & SISTERS. A good episode with Kevin and Tommy reaching a truce, and Justin making a major move toward changing his life.
This family is boring me to tears. I so DON'T care about all their dramas.
And no Becca or Holly in sight?
Feh!

Hey, at least you got "waylaid" today.

I wish I could find the person who shared his or her viral germs with me.

I find it interesting that one of our GUESTS keeps looking at one particular thread from early in 2004 - in which a certain record label is discussed. Isn't that interesting, and just a little pathetic, too?

Just so you all know, if I am ever on any show like these, I will NOT be accepting any "nice parting gifts". I want cash!

Perhaps he or she is a historian seeking "mokra", which as MBarnum would tell you is "enlightenment."

I'm going to put my cough-ravaged, phlegm-producing self to bed now and hope for a better day tomorrow.
