Well, you've read the notes, you know all about applesauce, and now it's time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating their applesauce.

And the word of the day is: WIDDERSHINS!

Hmmmm... DR George must still be at his cast party.

Re APPLESAUCE - An endless source of frolic and amusement is my story of a friend was working at North Shore Muisc Theater when Dorothy Collins was appearing in APPLAUSE. And he swore that people would call asking for tickets to Dorothy Collins in APPLESAUCE.
-
That one just gets older and older every time I tell it. :)

I also remember reading that after a particularly well received concert, the performers were given generous applesauce.

Hapy BRithdya to Mr Bkalor.

I watched a bit of NORTH BY NORTHWEST on TCM last night.
My TOD: What is everyone's favorite movie reveal or revelation?
I have a couple including:
Cary Grant finding out the identity of the ONI agent and that his actions have issued a death warrant for said agent in NBN.
The moment when we Raymond's control is revealed in THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. "Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire?"
-
Good morning, all! Last night I had a fabulous dinner at Chez Josephine which is also an homage to Miss Josephine Baker, with plumes and portraits about the restaurant. The meal was quite wonderful and it was great to see my friend Richard and his wife after too long a period of time.
I have a day to myself at the apartment and I'm going to work on Moross scores. tonight, I'm seeing KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY at Musicals in Mufti. The show is so politically relevant that I don't know why productions aren't popping up everywhere. Originally Maxwell Anderson's anger over FDR's "New Deal," I always saw it as a parable on fascism, but I suppose a lot of conservatives today might see it as a jab at Obama's policies. I look on it as a great score with a lot of digs at corruption and stupidity in all levels of government, from the town counsel to the top.
I may do a bit of work on Mr Victor Herbert as well.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I need coffee. Yes, coffee would be good.
-
Darling bk - But after the first two weeks, the noise has not been going on all day. At least not according to your reports. At least not here on Mars.
-
DR elmore - Just remember, today is Street-Palooza with NYC Pride and a couple of other festivals today. Hopefully, by the time you head down and east, or east and down, traffic should be almost back to normal.
-
OK... Time for some coffee....

YEAH! Thank You, DR DAW!

DR JOSE is the music worth $12 + shipping? Maybe someone who buys it can do something for needy friends.

I'd say it's worth the $12+shipping. And, thankfully, the CD won't come with a rain delay. I hope.

Off to work and contemplating spending $12
I believe the band, HEM, has a website - or at least a MySpace page. So, you may want to check out some music samples to help your contemplation.
-
And now I need to get ready to head down to the NYPL to join the D.I.V.A.s (http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/chest/divas.shtml) for today's NYC Pride Parade. -And it looks like we've got another sunny, rain-free day for all the festivities! HOO and RAY!!!
Laters...
-
Good morning!
It was 94 here yesterday, and it's supposed to be the same today. Argh! It is S-U-M-M-E-R!!!
-
As for me, I was up very early this morning. I climbed on my roof and cleaned off the two flattest places where leaves and pine straw tends to collect. It was already 70 degrees outside when I was doing this, and thankfully, I didn't have to be up there very long. I HATE this chore, but thankfully it only has to be done once or twice a year. Hopefully, I'll be good to go until November.
Next weekend (likely Sunday), the gutters.
-
Today's work project will be the Criterion DVD release of FOR ALL MANKIND about the Apollo moon missions. It have it on both DVD and Blu-ray, and, as usual, I'll do the DVD first and wait a few days before rewatching the film this time on Blu-ray.
-
On a cheerier note, after struggling with the software at the new work site yesterday and being somewhat disillusioned and apprehensive about the switchover, I went there this morning, and the review that didn't seem to post yesterday actually DID post after all. I guess something was up with the software yesterday not to give me an instant post, but anyway, it was there today, and I even went back into the review and tweaked a few things to see if it would let me do that with ease. It did.
Needless to say that is a tremendous relief to me to be able to maneuver with the new software tools on the site.
-
On TV Tonight!™
ABC - JUST FOR LAUGHS, IMPACT
NBC - DATELINE, MERLIN
PBS - POIROT: MRS. McGINTY'S DEAD
HBO - TRUE BLOOD, HUNG (series premiere)
-
Looks like George Cukor Day at TCM. There are a lot of his movies programmed throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening hours.
-
Could thbat have anything to do with Gay Pride Day? Cukor hardly made his orientation known during his career. (I know it was well known in Hollywood, but it wasn't to the general public.)
-
Page Two!!!
-
Since I watched THE FASHION SHOW yesterday while I ate lunch, I don't have anything 30-60 minutes in length on the DVR. I guess I'll go to Showtime on Demand and watch tomorrow night's episode of NURSE JACKIE early since I noticed it's already there.
-
And the word of the day is: WIDDERSHINS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: ILL WIND
-
My brother Randy just reminded me: today is the 15th anniverdsary of my mother's death. I may go over to Holy Trinity and say a prayer for her.
On a wholly different note, I found this site from the nypl Theatre Collection which has photos from the 1903 Hamlin-Mitchell "Babes In Toyland." Most of the photos are from publicist Townsend Walsh's files and there are a lot of incorrectly assigned photos from the same production team's 1902 "Wizard of Oz," as well as a photo of Joseph Coyne, who was the star of the original 1907 MERRY WIDOW and never a part of either Mitchell-Hamilin production.

Here's the beautful Amy Ricard, who played Contrary Mary in her Act One finery. Miss Ricard's next big role was as Bessie in George Ade's THE COLLEGE WIDOW of 1905. 12 years later, the comedy became Jerome Kern's LEAVE IT TO JANE.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARK BAKALOR

I watched Quantum of Solace last night. As much as I like Daniel Craig, this may be the worst Bond film ever. First of all the plot is almost indecipherable...very much dependent on knowing too many details from the last one.
If you are going to be a sequel and can't succinctly recap the info a viewer needs to know from the previous film in less than five or ten minutes to be able to enjoy the film, then don't do a sequel, do a film that is complete in itself and don't carry over crap from the last one that has no dramatic impact.
Characters appear and disappear so fast without much development or establishment, we don't really know who they are or why we should have any feeling about them at all.
But worst of all the action, scenes are so choppy and kinetic that you cannot get any sense of perspective or know where you are or who just shot at who or who threw what punched or who jumped down from where. An example: the film opens with Bond in a black car being chased by villains in a black car. The cutting is so quick, the cars have not been established, I couldn't tell who was who half the time. So much of action throughout the film is in quick cuts and close-ups or such obivous CGI that you get no sense of spectacle at all anymore.
And that was what was so great about the fights and chases and stunts in a Bond movie, there was a sense of spectacle and amazement and, it didn't happen at such a frenetic pace, that you could absorb it, take it all in, and enjoy. You could revel in the details. Not anymore. It's assaultive and just wears me out.

I keep forgetting!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Wishes to Mark Bakalor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same from me!
Happy Birthday to Mark Bakalor!!!
-
I had the exact same reaction to QUANTUM OF SOLACE the first time I watched it. I enjoyed it a bit more the second time around, but I agree that there shouldn't NEED to be a second time to make characters, motivations, and action clear.
In fact, I seem to remember saying (or thinking) that this was the James Bond film for the ADD/ADHD generation.
-
Now I must head downstairs to get laundry ready for washing and then decide what I'm going to fix for lunch.
WBBL.

Happy Mark Bakalor Day

I will head out soon to PrideFest.
I've seen enough Pride Marches/Parades (and been part of them as well). I don't need to stand on 5th Avenue and 16th Street to watch this one. I'll see my friend at PrideFest, come home, work on the two presentations and take a nap (I woke up at 5am). We will be seeing a friend tonight. He is taking classes at HB and there is a "singing performance"

I think nearly the first 20 years of my life in New York were spent marching in the parade with the NYC Gay Men's Chorus. My memories are the great support from the crowds, the excitement of being in the event, and the claustrophobia on Christopher Street at the end. I also remember standing in the sun waiting for the Chorus or the cabaret group I worked with to sing at the rally after the parade. I given my time and energy and now I don't mind passing up the event.

Great way to put it. It's not a race! It's a story! You should be able to luxuriate in nuance and detail.

I had such a lovely night's sleep and just got up ten minutes ago. It's quite sunny out and it's gonna be another hot day.
-
Darling Jose, actually what I write is that the noise starts loudly at seven, then as soon as I (and the rest of the neighborhood) are up and get out of bed, it just stops for an hour - my point is, why? Start an hour later. But then the noise continues and the workers work until four - that is, until last Friday, when they worked till five-thirty. Noise. All day. It's not as house-shaking as it was the first two weeks because there's no heavy equipment now, but it's relentless and constant and believe you me I am not the only one who's reacting this way. Several of my neighbors have spoken to me of their annoyance.
-
Based on what I'd heard and read I stayed away from Quantum of Solace. As most know, I didn't like Casino Royale for all the same reasons being written about here. Quick cutting, absurdly cartoonish stunts all done via CGI, the too serious tone. I agree with Pogue about the action in classic Bond films - you can follow it. It's edited brilliantly and kinetically, but you know the geography and even though the fights go on a long time, you buy it - think the Robert Shaw fight in From Russia, With Love.
-
I'd have to be out of here by eleven if I'm going to jog, and even then it will probably be too hot. We shall see.

Delightful clip. And it shows that the US is not the only one who do open matte transfers of widescreen films - dig that crazy headroom. Clearly in Bollywood, 1967 was the new 1957.

I find it interesting that just before opening HHW today I had filled a small bowl with applesauce, peach applesauce to be precise. It was very good.

Thanks, DRs DAW and Jane!

T.O.D.
The last scene in PLANET OF THE APES. I saw it the first time at the drive-in on a hot summer night with all our windows rolled down, and you could tell immediately as people figured it out. I never heard the word "S#*T" said more often, or more effectively.

I went to the market and bought some goodies.

I talked to Mr Ron Raines who's flying to Colorado tomorrow to do two concerts with the Dallas Symphony in Vale. Charlotte is in Ann Arbor and Dona is in Italy with some opera project. Those Raines folk sure get around.

It's Vail, CO, not Vale. What do I know?

Oh, look! I'm a frenzy.

I don't know how it is in New York, but in my little corner of the globe; they don't want gays my age to participate in Pride at all. The old queens seem to be an embarrassment to the young, proud, openly gay male. They think of us as the silly old men who hid in our closets afraid to tell the world who we were. They seem to forget that we were also the old queens who fought the police harrassment and the college-jock gaybashers; just for the right to have a beer with our own, in the privacy of a quiet bar.
I stopped attending Seattle and Tacoma Pride years ago.

Actually, it's amazing that his speaking voice was rather deep and pleasant. His "pitching voice", however, was high and strident. It was a strange contrast.

DR TCB, such a shame there isn't more respect for the older generation. In this case there really should be.

Apply liberal doses of cologne, douse a hanky with the stuff, and hold it close to your face until the winds shift. That should take care of the malodorous smells.
Playing your theater records really loud should do the trick in muffling the concert noises.

Perhaps it was the chaps-only attire you wore, TCB . There comes a time when the buttcheeks don't look as spiffy as they did when a person is in his 30s.
;D
Is this the voice of an embarrassed, or embare-assed, reality?
San Francisco has quite a proud elderly contingent...and yes, a few may occasionally wear seatless chaps to these events. Not pretty, but nobody gives a rip.
-
I will head out soon to PrideFest.

Ron, I stopped wearing the chaps years ago. I prefer the leather jock and the platform shoes.
Well there's your problem....those platform shoes were out after Elton wore a pair in "Tommy." Go with Birkenstocks....and be proud.
-
I'm thinking I need to purchase a new suit for the 9/18 McGlinn memorial.
-
DR TCB, such a shame there isn't more respect for the older generation. In this case there really should be.
It is amazing, even to me, how far we have come in 40 years. I first went to a gay bar in 1969, before Stonewall and I still remember being warned by others that the police in town were taking down the license numbers of all the cars parked by the bar.
-
I just ride up at the front with the Dykes on Bikes.

I just ride up at the front with the Dykes on Bikes.
I wonder if they have time to change my tires or move a piano?
-
Yes, the new radio show is up and running - it's fun, so give it a listen. And, I reveal the next Kritzerland title.
-
Back from the two-mile version of the jog - all I could do in this heat.
-
I guess it's finally summer.
-
Okay, back to Moross and those ballades de Broadway!
-
Happy Birthday Mark Bakalor~~~~~~~~~~~
-
I'm thinking I need to leave here around 6:30 to arrive on time for the performance at the York.
-
Yes, the new radio show is up and running - it's fun, so give it a listen.
And bk does a mean Carol Channing impression!!! :D
-
My neighbor girls came to my house and rang the door bell this morning. They came to say good bye. I went over and said good bye to their parents. I told them they better come to my house when they have to seel girl scout cookies or anything else at school. I know I'll see them from time to time, but I am really going to miss them waving to me every day when I come home and greeting me every time I go outside.
This is harder than I thought it was going to be.
-

That must have taken courage to stay.

That's a euphemism, right? :)
-
So I am cleaning my house to get my mind off of it. kitchen is all cleaned and scrubbed, basement is vacuumed and picked up. Mainfloor bathroom is done and I only have one more load of laundry to do. guess I better get back to it. I still have a lot on my list

And yet....it was well-reviewed and made a fortune. Go know!
I wish I had read a review suggesting we watch Casino again so we would know what was happening. Who knew Solace wasn't based on the short story it was named for!

DR Cilla, HUGS!
-
The photos of DR George's cast party over on Facebook look pretty wild. :o
-
I'm sad for you, Cillaliz. I understand how you feel.
-
TOD:
I think the reveal at the end of THE USUAL SUSPECTS is really terrific. And CHARADE has a marvelous one, too.
-
The last band that played did a real nice version of Chuck Mangione. This new group is okay, but their female lead singer - not so good.
-
Yes, the new radio show is up and running - it's fun, so give it a listen.
And bk does a mean Carol Channing impression!!! :D
I'll be listening for that! My best friend Joh does the most hilarious Carol Channing impression I've ever heard. Makes me fall down laughing every time he does it.
-
Well, the fates weren't on my side this afternoon when I went to pull up the advanced episode of this week's NURSE JACKIE. I wouldn't come up. I was SO frustrated. Of course, I'll recorded it during the broadcast tomorrow night, but I had really set my heart on watching it today.
-
Page Five Dance!!!
-
So, I took Season Two of BONES off the shelf and watched the episode about the well-off teenaged boy who ran off with his homeless girl friend and was later found dead in a dumpster.
-
Carol Channing's "s"s are really intriguing Zach. He is standing close to the computer speaker and staring quite intently. :D
-
I spent the rest of the afternoon on FOR ALL MANKIND.
I'm embarrassed to say I had never seen this documentary before. It's made from thousands of hours of NASA footage dealing with the six Apollo moon missions, all culled into one trip to the moon and back. It's a very profound, very moving piece of cinema with those startling images, many never before shown until this documentary, and the voices on the soundtrack of the astronauts themselves talking about different aspects of the mission and what those memoents meant to them. I had tears well up in my eyes several times during the mere 80 minute running time of the documentary.
It's beautiful and haunting. Criterion released it many years ago (I neveer saw that release on DVD), but this is a new transfer, and I'm assuming there are a bunch of new bonus features too that are equally fascinating all dealing with the men involved with the project and the moon missions.
I reviewed the DVD today. I'll get to the Blu-ray version later in the week. Can't wait to get to it because I'm sure much of it will look astounding. The sound is also magnificent - even on DVD! It's Dolby Digital 5.1 and features very deep bass that will rattle the room during the takeoff.
-
I'm thinking I need to purchase a new suit for the 9/18 McGlinn memorial.
Well, since you've lost all that weight and you look svelte and sexy now, you must buy a new suit!
-
Not that you didn't look sexy before, now you're svelte and sexy ;D
-
As for the bonuses, there's an audio commentary with the director and astronaut Gene Cernan that's as full of information as the documentary itself. There's a making-of documentary.
A new compilation of talking head footage of 15 of the astronauts featured in the film, some archive footage and some a lot more recent, none of it used in the movie but all very interesting to see.
There's a wonderful featurette of astronaut Alan Bean's moon/astronaut paintings with his voiceover explanations of his motivations for painting what he did.
And there are five different liftoff sequences from Mercury through Saturn rocket launchers.
So, the entire era of the APollo moon program is covered in great detail, and every bit of it is spellbinding.
-
I did manage to finish the entire disc this afternoon which leaves this evening for watching something fun. I think it'll probably be HANCOCK so I can clear it off my DVR. We'll see.
-
The internet seems very quiet this afternoon. I'll hop off now and get some writing done before heading down to have a fun evening of leisure viewing.
WBBL.
-
Is anyone else having trouble getting on to The Radio Show?
-
I haven't tried yet. I will try tomorrow when I'm at work.
-
I took a drive in the motor car - too many people out today. And really hot. I've addressed more packages and still have about fifty to do.
-
But I think I'll take a break and watch a motion picture on Blu-Ray.
-
Forgot to mention, that there's a scene in Capricorn One that always makes me laugh - the film takes place in Texas. There's one shot on a street corner where people are standing around. You can clearly see the street sign - Rhodes Ave. Well, not exactly Texas, since Rhodes Ave is one block from my very own street, and that shot was taken at the corner of Rhodes and Ventura Blvd. The only real change there is that the building on the corner, where everyone is standing, is now The Good Earth restaurant and the Rhodes street sign, for some strange reason, is no longer there.
-
Hmmmm... DR George must still be at his cast party.
I was at the time of your posting, but not anymore. I didn't get home until 3:45 a.m....and several people were still at the party when I left. A fun time was had by all! :D
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to Mr. Mark Bakalor!
-
Sunday afternoon greetings from Dayton International Airport! We arrived here from Lima way early, so we're all checked in, through security, and waiting patiently at our gate.

If you only knew the truth....
;)

I got a few hours sleep (darned morning sun) and I'm still a bit sleepy. I'm going to take a nap now, before tonight's SUNDAY performance of "Romeo & Juliet" that starts at 8 p.m.. :P I don't know why they decided to have a Sunday NIGHT show. Why couldn't they at least start it at 7 p.m.
Anyway, have a good rest of the day, all.
;D
-
Still fiddling with the new mac. got to get used to that pad.
-
And how to burn cds and dvds
-
DR Cilla, HUGS!
Thanks DR Jane.
-
I'm sad for you, Cillaliz. I understand how you feel.
Thanks DR Laura. There really aren't any other kids in the neighborhood, so I'll miss them even more. They aren't going far, but we all know that it's just different when you aren't neighbors anymore.
I got a ton of cleaning done while taking my mind off of things.
-
Waiting for the link to DR GEORGE's party photos!

New York Groove vibes for DR GINNY and DH RICHARD.
Thoughts going out to DR ELMORE for memories of the past....and to DR CILLA LIZ for the future....
-
DR MBARNUM I like my Bollywood dances in C O L O R.....that choreography was certainly pinpoint if not synchronized.
-
On another note....I'm very curious about the 40 something divorced man who will be moving into the house. I'm thinking he'll be moving while I'm at the lake next weekend. I will have my cat/house sitter keep an eye out for me

I feel very sad about the loss of Gale Storm. Her second series, OH SUSANNA was my favorite growing up. That may be the reason I love cruise ships.
-
I would love to see a few episodes of Oh Susanna. We watched a number of My Little Margie's awhile back. They were fun.
I enjoyed the music links.
-
This is getting silly but I hope not disrespectful, but back in days of yore (the 20th century), some friends and I once had an endless back-and-forth of songs and roles and such we wished Gale Storm had played.
Gale Storm in RAIN
Gale Storm singing Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head
Gale Storm rides the Thunder Mountain railroad
Gale Storm sings Greased Lightning
Gale Storm sings Stormy Weather
Gale Storm sings It's Raining Men
Gale Storm in the finale of 110 IN THE SHADE
Gale Storm in SINGIN' IN THE RAIN
IIRC, we went on for over an hour.
Hope it's not disrespectful to recall at this time, it's just a favorite memory.
-
Watching one of the worst movies I've ever seen - there have been times when I began screaming at the TV. I like the music, so I'm toughing it out, just to see how low it can go.
Also, my Time Machine/Airport Extreme device is suddenly blinking yellow instead of being green as it should be. I wonder if it lost signal at some point and is trying to reset. I'm on, so I guess it's okay - if it hasn't fixed itself by tomorrow morning, I'll call Apple.
-
It makes me very nervous, though. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
-
DR JFL, I'm not sure why your favorite memory is disrespectful, it seems nice to me.
-
Time for the Next Food Network Star!!!
-
FJL I don't think it's disrespectful either. And it sounds like a fun game
-
Jane - only because it's about her unique name (which she apparently had fun with as well) rather than her talent.
And thanks for saying that, Jane.
-
And Cilla, too.
-
Thanks for the vibes DRs FJL, Elmore, George, JRand, and Cillaliz - they worked like a dream and we're all settled into our hotel. Our flight arrived early and we were in our taxi from LGA at the time we were scheduled to land. Went around the corner for some dinner at the Cranberry Deli, took a short walk around Times Square, and are now crashed in our room.
-
DR FJL I am sure Miss Gale Storm would approve....she herself spoke about her name - won in a radio contest...and said she didn't even get the joke until someone explained it to her years later.
To continue:
Gale Storm in Till the Clouds Roll By
Gale Storm in Hurricane
Gale Storm in Blue Skies
Gale Storm on Thunder Road
-
Food Network Star spoiler
Why didn't Teddy just show himself stabbing a cow in the back if he wanted to show his true personality in his burger?

DR TCB someone from your neck of the woods might be able to send you a few episodes of The Gale Storm Show...

Have fun, DR Ginny, my NYC trip this year will have to be vicarious, so please give us lits of details!

Well, it's not the same without you! The Comfort Inn has been refurbished since we last stayed here 2 years ago and is very nice. Rooms are still the same size and shape, but furnishings, wall coverings, draperies, lighting, etc. are all new and much brighter.
-
Listening to the radio show.
Right now listening to Show Girl.
I decided to read up a little bit about the show and I was surprised to find out one of Ms Channing's most famous routines her wicked imitation of Marlene Dietrich was left off the recording.
It also seems that she recorded a song that didn't make it to the final cut
In Our Teeny Little Weeny Nest For Two

This is a really great gay marriage song by Janis Ian
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acDTwxlsSOs
-
That's not a new song, but it was new to me, so I thought I'd share - you can also download it free on her website www.janisian.com
-
Thanks for linking that, Cilla! I'd never heard it before either.
Here's the lyric from an online site:
"MARRIED IN LONDON" BY JANIS IAN
We're married in London, but not in New York
Spain says we're kosher, the states say we're pork
We wed in Toronto, the judge said "Amen"
And when we got home we were single again
It's hard being married and living in sin
Sometimes I'm not sure just which state I am in
Thank god I'm not Catholic, I'd be a mess
Trying to figure out what to confess
My passport in Sweeden says I've got a wife
Amsterdam tells me I'm partnered for life
But back in America, land of the free
I'm a threat to the national security
If I were a frog, here's what I would say
"It's hard being green, it's hard being gay"
But love knows now gender and hearts have no sex
So love where you can, and f**k all the rest!
-
Good Evening!
I had a great time at today's NYC Pride Parade and post-parade activities.
I saw a lot of people. I caught up with a bunch of old friends, and made some new ones. I took about 400 pictures. And I was on my feet for about six hours straight, so...
I'm gonna try to catch up the posts, but I may just end up catching up in the morning. We shall see...

Rest in Peace, Ms. Gale Storm :'(

I am so very sorry, JRand. I know this one will hit you especially hard. :-\
My college roommate, whom I only hear from once or twice a year, called tonight to tell me about Gale Storm. I had not heard before he called.
What a terrible week for celebrity deaths this has been!
-
I had a full evening of filmed entertainment.
I began by watching X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE.
It had just started on HBOW-HD, and I had been meaning to record it, so I just went ahead and watched it "live." It wasn't a very long film either, so I still had plenty of time to watch some other things.
It was just OK. Not very weird in an X-FILES kind of way; closer to a MEDIUM episode than anything else. I can see why it was not a big hit last summer.
-
Next, I tried NURSE JACKIE again, and this time Showtime On Demand found episode #4 and played it (tomorrow night's episode). An OK episode, but not quite as funny or as dramatic as previous ones have been.
-
Next, I remembered that I had only watched the first 30 minutes of THE SEARCHERS the other night, so I fnished it tonight. Always love the movie. Love Henry Brandon, and, of course, Jeffrey Hunter was very appealing. He should have been a much bigger star.
-
And I concluded my evening by watching tonight's fantastic episode of TRUE BLOOD. This is one addictive show!
-
I forgot to have LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and IN PLAIN SIGHT on USA in my TV listings this morning. I hope that fans of either of those shows remembered to watch/record them.
-
I guess due to the July 4th holiday next weekend, HBO isn't running a new episode of TRUE BLOOD on Sunday. For that matter, BURN NOTICE and ROYAL PAINS aren't televising new episodes on Thursday this week either.
-
Page Eight Dance!!!
-
And now I think I'm going to head downstairs and go to bed.
Good night!
-
New York Groove vibes for DR GINNY and DH RICHARD.
Thoughts going out to DR ELMORE for memories of the past....and to DR CILLA LIZ for the future....
Thanks, DR JRand58!

Went and got some low-cal ice cream. I think I chipped an ancient filling or it's just falling apart, because one of my fillings is now all rough and it's really annoying. So, it's off to the dentist - I'll make an appointment tomorrow. Meanwhile the Time Capsule's yellow light is still blinking, but the Internet's working fine, so I won't do anything or try to figure it out till I call Apple tomorrow - although after I post the notes, I may try restarting the computer, and if that doesn't do it, I may unplug the Time Capsule and the modem and then plug them back in - see if that fixes it.
-
I just got in from the York production of KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY. It's a long show: the first act was 90 minutes and the second's about an hour. After that I went backstage to see Josh Grisetti who played Washington Irving and then to the closing night reception where I saw my friends Bill Parry and Walter Charles. I also spoke to George S Irving and to Tom Jones and his wonderful wife, Janet.
Overall, it was quite well done. I still don't believe that the published libretto, which is what's rented, is actually what played in 1938 because the book is long and very wordy. Very funny, but I believe there were cuts and that Anderson restored them when he printed the text for his own publishing company. The score is wonderful, and the show itself much bigger than the tiny mufty production could tackle really successfully. Still, kudos to them for the successful attempt. Someone needs to do it with a full orchestra and a really solid cast.
-
Did you all see our DR Dakotacelt's wedding announcement? It's really lovely. I wish them all the happiness in the world.

Thanks for posting that, Elmore. That's a lovely picture. I saw them in Las Vegas just last month.
-
Lovely picture of a very errant and truant hainsie/kimlet.
-
Still have a blinking yellow light - most annoying, but since everything is thankfully working I'm trying not to pay too much attention to it.
-
Just wanted to say hi.
Hi.
-
Tried to sleep as much as possible this weekend.
And escape by watching, Godzilla, Iron Man, and Transformers.
Looking forward to only working 4 days this week, and then a 3 day weekend.
