Well, it's not the same without you!  The Comfort Inn has been refurbished since we last stayed here 2 years ago and is very nice.  Rooms are still the same size and shape, but furnishings, wall coverings, draperies, lighting, etc. are all new and much brighter.

Listening to the radio show.

Right now listening to Show Girl.

I decided to read up a little bit about the show and I was surprised to find out one of Ms Channing's most famous routines her wicked imitation of Marlene Dietrich was left off the recording.

It also seems that she recorded a song that didn't make it to the final cut

This is getting silly but I hope not disrespectful, but back in days of yore (the 20th century), some friends and I once had an endless back-and-forth of songs and roles and such we wished Gale Storm had played.

Gale Storm in RAIN

Gale Storm singing Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head

Gale Storm rides the Thunder Mountain railroad

Gale Storm sings Greased Lightning

Gale Storm sings Stormy Weather

Gale Storm sings It's Raining Men

Gale Storm in the finale of 110 IN THE SHADE

Gale Storm in SINGIN' IN THE RAIN

IIRC, we went on for over an hour.

Hope it's not disrespectful to recall at this time, it's just a favorite memory.

I find it very funny.  I don't think it is disrespectful, I think Miss Storm would have loved it.

I have a stupid Mac question:

How do I get to the scanner? I installed it, but I can't find it. I thought it would be in the "Finder" under "Applications," but it's not there.

That's not a new song, but it was new to me, so I thought I'd share - you can also download it free on her website www.janisian.com

Thanks for linking that, Cilla!  I'd never heard it before either.

Here's the lyric from an  online site:

"MARRIED IN LONDON" BY JANIS IAN

We're married in London, but not in New York
Spain says we're kosher, the states say we're pork
We wed in Toronto, the judge said "Amen"
And when we got home we were single again

It's hard being married and living in sin
Sometimes I'm not sure just which state I am in
Thank god I'm not Catholic, I'd be a mess
Trying to figure out what to confess

My passport in Sweeden says I've got a wife
Amsterdam tells me I'm partnered for life
But back in America, land of the free
I'm a threat to the national security

If I were a frog, here's what I would say
"It's hard being green, it's hard being gay"
But love knows now gender and hearts have no sex
So love where you can, and f**k all the rest!

Good Evening!

I had a great time at today's NYC Pride Parade and post-parade activities.

I saw a lot of people.  I caught up with a bunch of old friends, and made some new ones. I took about 400 pictures. And I was on my feet for about six hours straight, so...

I'm gonna try to catch up the posts, but I may just end up catching up in the morning.  We shall see...

And more bad news.....

Rest in Peace, Ms. Gale Storm  :'(

I am so very sorry, JRand. I know this one will hit you especially hard.  :-\

My college roommate, whom I only hear from once or twice a year, called tonight to tell me about Gale Storm. I had not heard before he called.

What a terrible week for celebrity deaths this has been!

I had a full evening of filmed entertainment.

I began by watching X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE.

It had just started on HBOW-HD, and I had been meaning to record it, so I just went ahead and watched it "live." It wasn't a very long film either, so I still had plenty of time to watch some other things.

It was just OK. Not very weird in an X-FILES kind of way; closer to a MEDIUM episode than anything else. I can see why it was not a big hit last summer.

Next, I tried NURSE JACKIE again, and this time Showtime On Demand found episode #4 and played it (tomorrow night's episode). An OK episode, but not quite as funny or as dramatic as previous ones have been.

Next, I remembered that I had only watched the first 30 minutes of THE SEARCHERS the other night, so I fnished it tonight. Always love the movie. Love Henry Brandon, and, of course, Jeffrey Hunter was very appealing. He should have been a much bigger star.

I forgot to have LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and IN PLAIN SIGHT on USA in my TV listings this morning. I hope that fans of either of those shows remembered to watch/record them.
