Well, you've read the notes, the notes waltzed right along, and now it is time for you to post until the waltzing cows come home.

Best waltz lyrics:

Do you remember the night I held you so tight,
As we danced to the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz?
The music was gay, and the setting was Viennese,
Your hair wore some roses (or perhaps they were peonies),
I was blind to your obvious faults,
As we danced 'cross the scene
To the strains of the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz.

Oh, I drank some champagne from your shoe.
I was drunk by the time I got through.
I didn't know as I raised that cup,
It had taken two bottles to fill the thing up.

It was I who stepped on your dress.
The skirts all came off, I confess.
Revealing for all of the others to see
Just what it was that endeared you to me.

I remember the night I held you so tight,
As we danced to the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz.
Your lips were like wine (if you'll pardon the simile),
The music was lovely and quite Rudolf Frimly.
I drank wine, you drank chocolate malts,
And we both turned quite green
To the strains of the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz.

My favorite waltz is one by Mason Williams that deals with a three legged gal - Woody will provide details.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Details, details, details...

The song in question is "The Last Great Waltz," found on Mason's CD Music 1968 - 1971.  It tells the tale of Jonathan W. Astor, who loves to dance, and loves to waltz most of all.  Unfortunately, when he attends a ball none of the ladies will dance with him because he's too much of a perfectionist.  Ah, but then he meets the Triskellion, who has the same problem because she has three legs...

It's a funny song, warmly funny so it stays funny every time we listen to it.  Part of the humor is in the music itself.  It starts in 4/4, for the narration, slips into 3/4 for Jonathan's solo, back to 4/4 for more narration, then to 3/4 for the Triskellion's solo (sung by Jennifer Warnes, I believe), back again to 4/4 for more narration, and finally, as Jonathan and the Triskellion happily dance together, goes into 5/4 time!  Absolutely perfect!

Reporting from New Orleans

Paul Weitz has been drawn to mentor stories throughout his filmmaking career. As inspired as the teacher-student relationships might have been in the writer-director's "About a Boy" and "In Good Company," they can't approach the perverse pedagogic plot of his latest, “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant.”

In a derelict theater just outside the French Quarter last spring, Weitz was orchestrating the final showdown between two modern-day vampires. In a luxuriant lavender jacket, Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) was trading knife throws with the traditionally gothic Murlaugh (Ray Stevenson). The deadly duel was part of a looming war between bloodsucker camps, but the clash's immediate concern was the fate of a young newcomer to the vampire ranks: 16-year-old high school student Darren Shan (Chris Massoglia).

Adapted from the first three books in the bestselling, 12-volume "Cirque du Freak: The Saga of Darren Shan" series (its Irish author, Darren O'Shaughnessy, writes under the nom de plume Darren Shan), "The Vampire's Assistant" opens with Darren and his best friend, the troubled Steve (Josh Hutcherson), visiting an underground freak show.

As striking as its participants might be (a man who can swallow a folding bike, a snake boy, a woman with unbreakable teeth), Darren and Steve are respectively mesmerized by the show's magical spider, Madam Octa, and its vampires in hiding, including Crepsley.

When Darren steals Crepsley's spider and it subsequently bites Steve, the ancient vampire (he was born in 1783) offers Darren a "Sophie's choice" to save his buddy's life: In exchange for a spider-bite serum, Darren must die himself and train under Crepsley to become his sanguinary apprentice.

As much as "The Vampire's Assistant" plays with conventions of the genre (Crepsley uses his immortality to avoid committing to his girlfriend, Salma Hayek's bearded lady, Madame Truska), the movie ultimately offers an innovative twist on the coming-of-age fantasy. Unlike Harry Potter -- who must escape his unloving relatives to discover his place in the world -- Darren is trying to escape his place in the world: a loving family.

b]Fans see USC-Ohio State game in 3-D[/b]
ESPN helps game leap out at Trojan fans gathered at Galen Center to watch the game.
By Mark Medina

September 13, 2009

After cutting toward the near side of the field, USC running back Stafon Johnson appeared to run toward the 7,000 fans sitting in Galen Center.

Then he quickly switched directions and glided into the end zone for what would be the winning touchdown Saturday in the Trojans' 18-15 victory against Ohio State.

It wasn't just the Buckeyes' defense that was deceived.

Johnson's shiftiness appeared to leap out of the 40-by-22-foot screen in the middle of Galen Center, and served as the most memorable example of ESPN's first 3-D broadcast providing an in-game atmosphere for fans.

The USC fight song performed by the marching band, the cheerleaders' dance routines and T-shirt giveaways during timeouts also helped. Then there were the screaming fans who stood on top of the media tables during the Trojans' comeback effort.

Anthony Bailey, vice president for emerging technology at ESPN, said he was happy with the final results but was noncommittal about the future of such broadcasts.

ESPN officials distributed a 28-question survey to fans where the broadcast took place, which included ESPN Zones at L.A. Live and Anaheim, and theaters at Columbus, Ohio; Hurst, Texas, and Hartford, Conn. A joint effort between ESPN and Digital Market Research, a consulting firm based in New York, will analyze the results within the next week.

Anyway, I phoned the work number of the woman who's phone I found last night and left a kind-of long rambling message. ::) It turns out that she works at the hospital where my mom used to work!  She eventually called me back just as I got to my sister's house after working concessions downtown, so I had to leave right a way to meet her to give her her phone.  She was on-call and really couldn't wait until I got back to Tumwater to give her her phone.  So we met at the Capitol Mall cinemas, which was about half-way between Tumwater and the east side of Olympia, where my sister lives.

At my sister's house, we all had vegan chili but my sister also bought real (meaning dairy) cheese and sour cream.  We also had corn bread and corn-on-the-cob.  It was all actually very good!  When I got back from delivering the phone, we played one game of Phase 10 (http://www.amazon.com/Fundex-8220-Phase-Card-Game/dp/B000JRBFYO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1252831695&sr=1-1) (our family's usual card game of choice), and then we played a couple of games of Set (http://www.amazon.com/SET-Enterprises-4098363-Game/dp/B00000IV34/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1252829877&sr=1-1).  It's an interesting game.  You really need to think to play that.  But it was fun.

Actually, she has a vegan spread called Earth Balance that also very good.  They've been using the regular (meaning non-vegan) version called Smart Balance for several years, and that's also very good.  You can even bake with it.  I recommend it. :)

Good morning, all!  I have a long day today, beginning with the laundry, so I was up at 6:30. I need to run down to the corner pharmacy soon and pick up some more clothes hangers (No wire hangers!). After that, I've got a trip to Alex Rybeck's to hear how the charts I did for Liz in early July sound, then a trek to Toyland to do some work on OH BOY! for a while. This week, between Toyland, the McGlinnventory, tryng to get George to finish the bookcases, and the memorial to John on Friday have my week booked pretty solid.

Before Friday, I have to burn CDs of McGlinn performances for several people who are coming to the memorial to repay them for providing other performances of John's. The executor for John's estate has asked me for copies of all non-commercial discs I have as well. That task will last several weeks beyond the memorial but I have to begin the work.  I also have to dig through all the crap in front of my clothes closet - all waiting for George's repairs - and dig out my suit. I hope it fits!

Speaking of McGlinn's 9/18 memorial, William Hicks, who was John's assistant musical director, rehearsal accompanist, and secret asset, sent me this comment about the too-long phone call with last night's windbag:
I was with John for twenty years and never heard him once mention  this man's name; tell him that the people who are speaking all had  close working relationships with John!

DRs Julie and Jose, you both look wonderful in the photo! Thanks for posting it. After the shock of wondering who was the whale wearing my clothes, I thought, well, at least two of us look good! Even when I was thinner, I was never photogenic. I envy those who are.

Thanks to all and sundry this Sunday for the vibes.  We did have a fine final performance - with a very good audience.

Throughout the run of the play, I am always approached by CHILDREN after the show who want to talk to Jonathan.....they seem to be fascinated by the scar and by the character.  I chose to play him mean - although his actions are tempered with humor and he certainly gets his cumuppance in the end....taken away in handcuffs - ouch!  I always shake their hands and thank them for coming and tell them it's just a play.  I try to kneel down so I am on their level.  It's most fascinating to watch them and interact with them.  The brother and sister last night were "excited and scared" and it was fun to talk to them.  Some wanted their picture taken with me as well.

A fun show!  And although I will probably never get to play this part again - I am happy it has reached its conclusion.

I still don't understand why a revival like BYE BYE BIRDIE needs to have previews!  Although I guess it's a money and period of time to play the show without reviews.....I don't know.  And if it is to improve the performances.....didn't they know something wasn't working during rehearsals?

Well, they have been "re-writing and fixing" the show during the rehearsal process already. For better or worse.  If it turns out "for worse", then, hopefully, they'll be able to make it better during the previews.

Or something like that.

I wonder what they are fixing. I saw the tour with Tommy Tune (20 years ago???) and they added the film title song at the begining of the show and two songs in act two. I Took A Giant Step and He's Mine (A duet for Rose and Mother Peterson) The TV version retained the title song, I Took A Giant STep. dropped He's Mine and added Let's Settle Down (solo for Rosie) and A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore (solo for Mother Peterson).

I read that they are dropping The Shriner's Ballet for PC reasons. I think that is a load hooey. I would like to know the real reason

Mary Costa who was the female lead in the 2nd film version was the speaking and singing voice of Disney's Sleeping Beauty

She was also Cunegonde in the 1957 tour and 1958 London production of CANDIDE. I met her in 1965 when she sang in the Miami University Artists Series. she signed my vocal score to CANDIDE. She sang several roles for the Met, including Rosalinda in FLEDERMAUS and Vanessa in Barber's opera, and San Francisco Opera. She was very beautiful but by 1977 she was having real vocal trouble.

And speaking of "Sleeping Beauty"... The original book prop that was used for the opening of the movie was put on display at this weekend's D23 (http://d23.disney.go.com/index.html) event.

Here is the article from last week's Times that talks about some of the recent archiving efforts in the Disney Vaults.

I suspect, from friends that have seen it, they're hoping that preview audiences will allow Gershon and Stamos, who I hear are not funny and often not on pitch, to get used to an audience. A poster on one of the chat boards mentioned the synthesizer flutes. Wrong! Jonathan Tunick has 4 reeds all doubling flute so that he can have Red Ginzler's four flutes in "Put On A Happy Face."

I am always so interested to read about the lovely HHW'ers who are doing theatre in NYC.  Since I do toy theatre here in Indiana, it is exciting to read about the experiences of those who are doing it for REAL.

Keep the stories coming!

Don't put you or your theater down. For those of us who truly care about what we do when we perform, the work and effort put into the performance are the same no matter where it's being staged.

I haven't watched the TV-movie of BYE BYE BIRDIE in a long time. Jason Alexander is SO miscast that it's painful to watch, but much about it is good, and in general I prefer it to the 1963 film. I'm not in a BIRDIE mood, so I won't pluck that off the shelf to watch today, but I may put that thought in reserve for a time when I am in the mood for that musical.

We went through all this tsuris on castrecl about a week ago. They've cut the number; maybe she can't dance it. maybe Bobby Longbottom didn't want to stage it. It's out.

Umm... The recent press releases have been very open about some of the changes they've made to the show.  Or just read this interview with director, Robert Longbottom, from Playbill.com that was posted last week:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........aren't previews supposed to be for fixing a show or re-writing?

I still don't understand why a revival like BYE BYE BIRDIE needs to have previews!  Although I guess it's a money and period of time to play the show without reviews.....I don't know.  And if it is to improve the performances.....didn't they know something wasn't working during rehearsals?

Strange....

Well, they have been "re-writing and fixing" the show during the rehearsal process already. For better or worse.  If it turns out "for worse", then, hopefully, they'll be able to make it better during the previews.

Or something like that.

I thought Michael Stewart already did all that about 50 years ago.  But what do I know?

It's my experience that most revival cast albums don't come near the original ones.

As to revival rewrites or musical decisions made once the original creators are dead, I am often appalled by the "fixers" who think they know more than the original writers did. Trude Rittman's comment about the director's and orchestrator's decsion to add "folk" instruments to the revival of THE SOUND OF MUSIC was that it was misguided: the Trapp family was old aristocracy who listened to Mozart and wouldn't be caught dead listening to Alpine folk music.

:D  I'm so glad the show was fine & the audience enjoyed it.

I had that same type of experience when I played Captain Hook in PETER PAN.  All of the children that stayed after the show were frightened but fascinated by Captain Hook.  I would kneel down so that I woudl close to their level (another reason I couldn't do the role again) which seemed to make me a little more accessible to the children. They all wanted to see the hook, and they were relieved when they found out it was plastic.

The director told me not to bother to switch back to Hook for the curtain call (I had only about five minutes), but I refused to take the curtain call as Mr. Darling, and have all the children think that Hook had actually died.

A four-week preview period for Birdie is what Broadway has become.  This show has been read, staged, workshopped, for ages.  They've had a five week rehearsal period.  The show isn't broken.  So, one can only look at the producers, the director, the creative team, and the actors - it wasn't always thus, you know.

Miss Gershon's comment about the Shriner's Ballet was that it seemed a little "gang rape-y".  A ridiculous comment in just about every way, and so PC as to make you want to vomit on the ground.  Perhaps she's never seen the original Champion staging, as posted here on a previous page - first off, the staging is genius.  Second off, if anyone is the aggressor, it's Rose.  The Onna White film choreography is something completely different - and if that's all Miss Gershon has seen, then shame on her for even making a comment when she doesn't even know whereof she speaks.

I've always been very touched when children wait after a show to meet the actors. You can see that they're star-struck, and you get quickly reminded of the same feelings you had when you were their age and waiting to meet people you had just seen in a show and were enraptured by. I guess ONCE UPON A MATTRESS was the show I had the most people wanting to meet me after the show.

And FOREVER PLAID who quite often I found people thought we actually WERE those people (except that we weren't dead, of course). Many people wanted to know how long we had been singing together as a group!

I have watched many episodes of NCIS this afternoon. My favorite of the ones I watched had Tony working undercover chained to a guy the feds thought could lead them to some stolen art treasures if he and Tony could "break away" from prison guards. It was a very touching episode since the macho Tony actually bonded with the guy he was handcuffed to (the guy clearly had a crush on Tony). Of course, he WAS a serial killer as it turned out and Tony had to eventually kill him or be killed, but up until that moment, there were definite signs of a bond between the two of them.

I also watched another CASTLE episode while I ate lunch. I missed one of the CASTLE episodes during the regular season, and I'm thinking this was it since it didn't seem familiar. Had to do with an election in town for city council with one of the candidates killed who was actually losing in the polls. I didn't have any trouble figuring out the perps, but it was still a very entertaining episode nevertheless.

Dear Jane, yes I saw the article MRSA about the beaches.  Really sounds like it could be really true, they have been polluting the oceans since the beginning of time.

I stopped going in the sand in the 1980's here in LA, when it changed color permanently.

I didn't notice the change in color, maybe because I only returned once a year to visit.

Dear Jose, you mentioned the Greek plays.

Last night I saw Aristophanes's Peace at the Getty Villa.   Or Aristophanes meets Culture Clash.  If anyone gets a chance to see this go.   I laughed for 90 minutes (no intermission).   The political satire is just the best.  And the costumes, well the balloon items were protruding aplenty.

I think Keith's cousin was there last night.  Does it help to be from L.A. or N.Y. to get the jokes?

Dear Jane,

I think Culture Clash mainly writes for a global audience, but there were lots of jokes aimed at LA and the California audience.

I will also see their 25th  anniversary show at Royce Hall next month and their new show at The Mark Taper Forum in December.   I really like them.   I hope they never stop the intense physical workout they put themselves through during a performance.

I was sure I'd read high praise for Mad Men here, but maybe it was elsewhere.  Interesting that it's won several Emmy awards.  More interesting is the cost of each episode - I have no idea how AMC became able to play this game - close to 2 1/2 million PER episode.  That, my friends, is madness.  The producer creator said the style of the show, visually, owes to Hitchcock.  The directors all seem to be from The Sopranos, so they're fine.  He said all the smoking and drinking are necessary to be historically accurate, but that doesn't make it less irritating, and the characters continue to be so selfish and self-obsessed that it's a little surprising that the show is such a hit with people.  It has none of the depth or uniqueness of The Sopranos (the producer was brought into that show early on by David Chase).  But I'll stick with it for the rest of season one.  Nice to see Robert Morse.

Great drive down Sunset Blvd. (from Laurel Canyon to Pacific Coast Hwy) one of my favorite drives.  Listened to Chick Corea on the way there, and Santana on the way home.

Malibu has not changed much.  Used to spend time at a friend's parent's house in Malibu Colony, I believe in those days her father had a lot to do with making Carole King popular.

Mad Men is certainly "talky."  I watch it because I enjoy the way they create the time period so fastidiously.  I appreciate that they aren't afraid to create characters that aren't likeable.  And the writing is smart - they don't spell out everything for the viewer like they do on so many other current shows.  That said, it's certainly not a perfect show.

You are so right, Matt H.  I have always gone out of my way to be open and friendly with anyone who wanted to talk to me after a show.  I will never forget how hurtful is was to me, when Imogene Coca was a total b***h to me when I was about 8 years old.  All I wanted to do is tell her how wonderful she was.

Today I stopped by the house to pick up the mail for Mark, and I realzied that Stan never got to return to his beloved house.

I made it back alive from the birthday party. It was at a kids indoor playpark. And all the kids screamed and went on the slides like crazy people.

After it was over i realized i was starving. All i had all day was one muffin and 4 grapes. I didn't even get to eat during the party.

I went to my sister's house afterwards to see megan open her presents (there was no time at the place since you had to be out in 2 hours).

One bad thing happened before the party. I had to drive over with my dad. And even though he knows not to wear cologne, he had just shaved.

I knew from before i got in the car that it was going to bother me.

But the ride was only going to be 10 minutes. And i thought it would be okay.

But as soon as the car started i knew i was in trouble. Even with the windown open my eyes were watering so bad i was practically crying.

My throat started closing up (not so i couldn't breathe but just so could feel it).

It was horrible. But then i found that if i completely blocked my nose i was okay. So for the last 5 minutes i was good.

DR Jennifer you must remember to hold your nose from now on.  I also find covering my face helps, as embarrassing as it in to do so in public.  Another trick I have is to put a little of my perfume on my wrist and then put my wrist to my nose so I don't smell whatever will bother me.

Glad the party was fun, though what a shame she couldn't open the presents there.

Callie stopped eating and drinking water this morning and was clearly very uncomfortable this afternoon, so we made an "emergency" (read after hours so more expensive) trip to the vet. (a different vet on call for my vet...) He gave her fluids, an antibiotic shot as a preventive measure and tried to loosen things up.  He said the problem is her bone structure not megacolon and they'll have to put her under to clear the obstruction.   I could have told him that.

Callie is home and resting comfortably now.  I'll take her to the vet at 8:00 AM  She's been very healthy for a long time. Neither of the vets could believe we went 2 years without a similar incident.

Yes, I am a big fan of the show. There is one plot strand in the first season which I think was utterly ridiculous and not especially well handled (comes later in the season so I won't say what it is). Otherwise, the characters are rich and beautifully developed and there is much of interest going on with many surprises to be revealed.

If you don't like it, fine. Not every show is for everybody.

DR MattH, whom did you portray in Once Upon a Mattress.

I was Sir Harry. I loved his songs, and we had a really wonderful production in terms of our leading players, but we had the laziest ensemble in the history of theater. REfused to attend rehearsals, couldn't remember blocking (most never wrote down anything), and principals had to be placed in key positions on stage during production numbers so the ensemble could follow the steps.

I began my evening watching Friday night's MONK. Jay Mohr was the guest playing a defense attorney who had never lost a case and who makes mincemeat of Monk and company on the witness stand (they kind of deserved it they were so cocky going into trial). The second half of the episode was pretty good but we never got the choice moment of seeing Monk outsmart Mohr's character in court. We only see the aftermath which was anticlimactic.

Jonathan Lipniki, the adorable little boy from JERRY MAGUIRE, played a wayward youth on the show. My, how time has flown! He is ALL grown up.

You do remember him?  He legally changed his name to Avadon.

Of course I remember him - he was the Gentleman Caller when I did The Glass Menagerie in high school with Dolores JiJi and Patsy Moss.  Nice fellow.  I think I'd seen him once in the 1970s.

Tonight I scored the new end to the "Look to the Rainbow" dance. Tomorrow I will photocopy the chart and take the copy to the rehearsal for the MD. I have to look into payroll forms with the company manager and inquire about house seats.

So, who here loves Mad Men - I'm really sure I read glowing things here.  But here's what I did not know until just now - this isn't a network show - this isn't even a Showtime or HBO show, it's an AMC show, so I cannot imagine that this is a big success - maybe a cult success, but I found that fascinating, since my perception of this show, based on what I read, was that it was a bigger show than it is.  I must say, I'm finding it very talky, not all that dramatic and/or funny, with many unlikeable characters.  I do like my pal Bryan Batt and find his character very amusing so far.  And I know it's a period piece, but I find the incessant and endless smoking really off-putting.

As I get further into it, I'm enjoying certain aspects of it, but it's just that so many characters are off-putting.  I thought the fourth show was the best of the ones I've seen, but then the fifth had a not so hot plot that concerned the leading character's brother.  As I said, I'll stick with the first season.

I also took the time to watch the "making of" documentary on the film which ran about a half hour. Enjoyed that, too. I didn't know Billy Gray was still alive.

Why, had you heard he was killed in a car crash?  There were false rumors of it years ago, and supposedly it happened near my childhood home.

For some reason I had it in my mind he was one of those child stars who died too young like Brandon de WIlde. Glad to see he's had a long life.

Horse racing, bk. That brother episode was one of my favorites from season one.

The rumors were along time ago when I was still living in my childhood home.

Now, I think I'll head downstairs and get ready for bed. I have another physical therapy session late tomorrow morning, so I need to get some rest and hopefully a good night of sleep.

Good night!

The same.  Keith and I had a very nice conversation with him before our reunion.  I had left a message with his wife that our reunion was coming up.  He didn't attend, he did call us back and we have a nice long chat with him.

I found out today that because of the release of Dan Brown's new novel, THE LOST SYMBOL, I have to be at work at 7:30 AM on Tuesday!  Actually, the person who was supposed to work that shift called me to see if I would take it.  I took it.  Now, it's just that matter on Tuesday morning of being out of bed before 6:00 AM. . .

My dear late Uncle worked for Lever brothers during late 50's and 60's and would have like to have see Mad Man. He worked on many major accounts and I believe he came up with the name for Zest soap.

Good Evening!

The auditions went very well today, and they tried out a new system which seemed to work for everybody. Well, almost everybody.  There's always one in the crowd.  Alas, as far as this group is concerned, it's always the same one.

I was actually done around 5:30, then decided to just to take an honest to goodness break.  I met up with a friend for dinner.  After dinner - burgers - we walked around Uptown for a but, then we watched the season finale of "True Blood". -Which we both really, really, really, liked!!!!

bk - As for "Mad Men"...

-I'm a fan of the show.  The show does go off on some tangents which puzzle me at times, but everything  manages to come back together in one way or another.

-As for a majority of characters being off-putting: That's just the world of the show. You don't have to like everyone to keep watching it.

-The show has never been a commercial success, and AMC and the creatives have been open about the disparity between the critical and public reception.  It's been labeled as "The Best Show That No One is Watching".

The World's Sexiest Man Alive, aka Brent Barrett.

Oh. I always thought you were talking about my husband.

But Laura, they ARE talking about your husband but didn't want to make you jealous!

My sister has vegan cookbooks that are created without the use of eggs, so she doesn't have to convert regular recipes.

Um... I thought they had stopped using eggs to make books years ago?

In other theatrical news...

Hugh Jackman stopped the show, his show, Three Days of Rain, because of an audience member who kept chatting throughout the performance.  She was then escorted by security out of the theater.

And now, I'm off to my parent's house to meet up with my sister and her boy friend, then we and my dad are going to Seattle for the Dave Brubeck concert!

Until later!

Have a good time!

Have fun DR George.

Thanks, Matt and Jane.  We did!  The guy is going to be 89 years old in December, and when he very slowly walked up the two steps to the stage, he had to be helped.  But when he sat down and played, man...could he play!  It was a great show and my dad was in heaven!  He never thought that he'd ever get to see Dave Brubeck play live, but he did.  When the quartet played "Take Five," one of Dave's signature tunes, they got a very deserved standing ovation.  They got another standing ovation at the end of the show, too.  And they announced (although, I'd read it before), Dave was just selected for this year's Kennedy Center Honors!
