Gasoline prices keep rising in California while falling nationwide
Experts blame low production and tight supplies in the Golden State for the growing gap between the average price of a gallon of regular there and elsewhere in the U.S.
By Ronald D. White
September 15, 2009
The gap between what California motorists and the rest of the nation pay for retail gasoline widened again over the last week as pump prices rose throughout the state. Analysts said that the price jump was probably the result of low production and tight supplies.
The average cost of a gallon of regular gasoline in California climbed 5.4 cents to $3.153, the Energy Department said Monday. That set a high for the year for the second straight week and marked the fifth straight week that the state's prices have topped $3 a gallon. Nationally, the average price dropped for the fifth straight week, falling 1.1 cents to $2.577.
Analysts said that some of the reasons for the unusually large gap of 57.6 cents between the California and national averages could be found in the fact that refineries in the state are running far short of full production, even after accounting for some anticipated and unscheduled refinery downtime.
For the week that ended Sept. 4, California refineries produced 5.8 million barrels of California-grade gasoline from a stock of 17.8 million barrels of oil. During the same week last year, the refineries pumped out more than 6.2 million barrels even though oil supplies were nearly 40% lower last year.
"California is really disconnected from the rest of the country on this. Refineries have erred so much over the fear that they would be stuck with an oversupply of gasoline, like they were when prices caved last year, that the result is too little gasoline," said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for the Oil Price Information Service in New Jersey.
That's the price CA pays for having their own "boutique" formulation of gasoline.
I only pay $2.47 down here.

We have weekend company arriving on Thursday. I'm going to attempt to stay off the computer while I clean house, cook & bathe the dog before then. I'm so sleepy from not sleeping I sit down at the computer & don't get back up to do the things I need to do, so no sitting today.

Good morning!
Cool and warm: the forecast for today and appears to be for the rest of the week (although rain is supposed to roll in tomorrow).
-
I am on earlier this morning since I wanted to get some computer work cleared up before the roofers get here at 8:30. I want to stay downstairs while they work, and while I do have the laptop down there, I don't really like working on it much with its quirky wireless internet connection. So, I have to find things downstairs this morning to keep me occupied.
-
No work project today unless something comes in the mail or UPS this morning or this afternoon. I'd rather not work today since I don't know how long the roofers are going to be here or how loud they're going to be. They'll be working above but very near to where my home theater/den is, so trying to concentrate while they bang around doing their work would be difficult.
-
TOD:
The nearest I can guess would be Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog."
-
I'm heading down now to await the arrival of the roofing men. I don't know how long the work will take, but I'm here for the duration.

Good morning, all! This morning I am back to the McGlinnventory, after which I visit my barber at Radio City for some tonsorial aid. After that, I think I'll stop by rehearsal for a bit since it's near the 50th Street subway stop. Then I have a stop at the market followed by a visit with the copyist for FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I have three pieces to give him as well as some fixes for the Overture.
Hopefully, by the time I get home the bookcase problem will be a thing of the past.
TOD: "Hound Dog Man" or "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis around 1956 or 57. I also remember about the same time a couple of Buddy Holly songs and the Big Bopper - my mom loved his recording of "Chantilly Lace" - so I couldn't swear which one was the first I really heard.
-
Hopefully, by the time I get home the bookcase problem will be a thing of the past.
May it truly be so!!!
-
TOD:
I have no idea what the actual first rock 'n' roll song I ever heard would have been. Having two older sisters in the house, I was pretty much weened on rock.
The first rock (pop, really) record that I recall that I asked to be bought for me was "My Boy Lollipop" by Millie Small. I have no idea why I was so infatuated with that song but I was.
Since I did share the same interest in rock as my next oldest sister, I didn't have to buy any music for myself until I was fourteen and I bought Paul Simon's THERE GOES RHYMIN' SIMON, my first LP.
My first rock CD was Peter Gabriel's SO.

Move to Texas. It's almost a buck cheaper here, too.
So is auto & homeowners insurance, movie admission prices and almost everything else.

I've never been a big fan of "rock," but the song that really got to me was Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock," played over the opening titles of THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE.

Hello!
I'm downstairs on the laptop trying out this unreliable connection. It seems to be OK so far.
-
On a more disappointing note, the roofers have not arrived yet (40 minutes late). I mean, it shouldn't matter since *I'M* not doing any of the work, but I had hopes they'd get here early, work all morning, and be done by early afternoon.
A pipe dream, I guess.
-
And no sign of any UPS deliveries either, so at least I'm not staring any work for myself in the face.
-
Now, I guess I'll sign off here and see what other trouble I can get myself into on the internet. One thing's for sure, I won't be spending any money!
-
Checking in again. And with progress on both fronts.
The roofers are here (about 50 minutes late) and are working. It's going to be LOUD.
UPS arrived with WOLVERINE and MY NAME IS EARL - Season 4, both on Blu-ray. Will I get to do WOLVERINE today? Might have to be tonight. I could never concentrate on a movie I hadn't seen with all that hammering and noise.
-
OK, I'm going off-line now for awhile.

And it's a beautiful day here in NYC too! -I just took a walk up to the market to buy some yogurt and fruit, and as soon as I stepped out of the front door, all I could think of was: The Reservoir! ;)

Dear Bruce: Dr. Chew ASSAULTED you! There is no excuse for a dentist to give anyone pain. You were obviously experiencing him drilling into a nerve or nerve cluster. Had you had no novocaine, you'd likely have been on the ceiling, but the bottom line is this: Dr. Chew needed to find an alternative way of alleviating your pain. Many dentists are loath to exceed a certain dosage of whatever anesthetic they use, and there's likely a valid medical reason for that.
I, however, am a person for whom all shots do NOT work. Nine times out of ten, the dentist numbs me up perfectly. But it's that tenth time when no matter how many shots I get, the tooth needing attention doesn't seem to be affected. My entire face can be numb...you could yank out every other tooth in my mouth...you could pierce my tongue....and I'd feel nothing, nada, zip. But touch the drill to the tooth in question and I need to be strapped to the chair to keep me from levitating out of it with brute force.
NEXT TIME: Make it so clear that he cannot possibly misunderstand -- He is not to give you pain. The first sign of pain is instant cessation of drilling and he must find a way to anesthetize the tooth.
I fully understood every comment you made regarding your experience. It is agonizing pain and anyone who has ever experienced it felt it when you described it.

Good morning!
-
An absolutely beautiful day here.
-
I woke up just a little too late to jog, I think - oh, well, tomorrow for sure, or maybe even this afternoon - the good news is, no headache and the mouth is much better this morning, with only a little soreness around the jawline.
-
TOD: As best as I can recollect, "Hound Dog" is likely the first rock 'n' roll song I heard Of course, I don't know the chronology of Elvis' hits. My Aunt Doris was totally "gone" over Elvis in the mid-1950s and I was exposed to his singing a lot. I remember "Love Me Tender" vividly, but "Hound Dog" is the first "rock 'n' roll" song I can recall.
-

-
As for the Topic of the Day...
The first song that came to my mind - even though it came after "Rock and Roll proper" - was "Live And Let Die" by Paul McCartney & Wings.
Otherwise, I'm guessing it would have had to have to been "Rock Around The Clock" over the credits of "Happy Days".

It wasn't the complete train wreck that I was thinking, but I wasn't impressed...nothing special. I don't need to watch this on a regular basis.
It seemed like "Early Tonight" to me. Nice set, though. I haven't quite gotten a handle on the format. Having seen various snips of things he'll be doing, I'm not sure if it's going to be more along the lines of what Carson used to do (like the Great Karnak), or if, in fact, he's going to have more variety than we've seen before.
I really loved the Car Wash sequence with what's his name....a very talented guy, that guy. I had no trouble changing the channel after that number was over, though.

There's a "Terror Alert" in certain neighborhoods of Queens. Citizens are being asked to alert the authorities if they happen to smell any chemicals in the air... bomb-making materials. :-\
-
DR JOSE's story reminds me of the funniest joke that I heard David Brenner say.....and he wasn't so funny in my book.....he said he was on a subway and put a newspaper on the seat because something was on it.
A man got on at the next station and looked at him and said: "Are you reading that paper?"
Brenner said he stood up, turned the page, and sat back down saying: "Yes, I am."

They had "terror raids" yesterday - which, after watching the two men get escorted off the plane yesteday, well...
The raids didn't result in any finds or arrests, so they're asking people to be on alert.
I'm trying to figure out just how "BIG" this alert is... The story did not lead off the Noon news. It came after the local elections and Patrick Swayze's death.
???

That's kind of scary. I'm gonna go turn on the news now.
It started yesterday, or very early yesterday morning. A man was arrested in Queens yesterday after being tracked for a while by authorities. He is a legal resident of the U.S. but he had made trips to Pakistan and Afghanistan and sources indicated he could be trouble. When he arrived in New York (Queens specifically) yesterday authorities moved in and arrested him (and some others if I recall correctly). I don't know if they "raised" the terror alert or just made clear that things might happen in this neighborhood and to be aware of what's happening.
-
It's not as big because as I mentioned, the story broke yesterday afternoon, probably while you were in transit. Even so, it was "breaking news" and they followed up at 11pm but it didn't turn into "All Terror, All the Time"
-
As to the California gas prices - until the government steps in and calls them on their actions, they will continue to play these games until they can no longer get away with it. They are playing an especially dangerous game this time, given the prices in the rest of the country. They've got the oil and they have purposely not done what they needed to do.

Larry, there's good news and
bad not-great news...the good news is that I was able to record yesterday's Guiding Light episode early this morning, make a DVD and it's ready to send to you today. The bad not-great news is that I didn't think about it and recorded the hi-def channel. All this means is that because it's burned onto a regular DVD, the picture has a black frame around the whole image. It's otherwise all there, just a slightly smaller image. Here's a screen-shot of what it (proportionately) looks like:

I have a new roof across the back of my house! The roofers were done right around 2:10, so I am thrilled beyond belief to have one part of my home renovation completed. I'll have to wait until next month to do anything else. Not a dime to my name for the rest of this month, I'm afraid. I watched a bunch of NCIS episodes during the morning and early afternoon. One of my favorites was one involving a pair of eyeballs sent to a Marine, Anthony Heald was the primary guest star in this episode.
-
I did watch SUnday evening's episode of MAD MEN while I ate lunch today. My goodness, how different it was for women in labor back then! And the new British company has really thrown a wrench into Sterling-Cooper for sure.

I had just enough time left in the afternoon to watch X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. It was OK. I was not an X-MEN comics kid growing up, so I only know what the movies have told me about these characters. I have no idea if these origin stories are true to the comics or not.
At any rate, what a truckload full of hunks in this latest edition! And Ryan Reynolds was so gorgeous one just wanted to weep.

Thankfully, I have all evening to explore the bonus features since I had no time this afternoon to do anything but watch the movie itself. There are two commentaries and quite a few more bonuses to explore.

Guys, um, I need your help. You are the people I trust the most, so I feel it best to ask you all for some advice.
In my group mof friends, there are two girls that are bi. One recently came out, and the other one figured out last year. Now, here's the issue. The girl who de-closeted last year has possibly fallen for the second girl. So hard she has trouble looking at her at times when the second is dressed really pretty at school. So shes not sure if she should ask the other out or not. Normally she says she'd jump at the chance to be with "the girl of her dreams practically", however some issues have arisen,
1) Her father doesn't know she's bi-sexual. This might be the second biggest issue out of all of them...
2) The major one: They're BEST. FRIENDS. She's frightened to death of frightening away the only person that isn't her mom (who she has a really close relationship with) who she can tell anything to, and who will be there for her whenever she needs her. She asked two other friends before coming to me, and both being the teens they are said, "OMG how cute, go for it!!!"...or somthing along those lines...and she came to me, and I told her that while I had no idea what to do, I knew some people who mightr. I told her I wouldn't use names, so she was cool with it. So now I ask you, what should she do? Should she go for it, should she just wait and hope it passes soon, or is there another option? Also, take note that for some reason, her best friend, the one she has a crush on, has a secret she won't share with her, but everyone else in her group seems to know. So, my dear friends, please help my other dear friend with her romance issue please.
Love to you all, Vixter.

DR Matt H, glad that you have a [new] roof over your head!! :)

I'm going to especially love it tomorrow when the rains arrive. Hopefully, no more leaks on the back porch.

DR the vixter - First of all: Whoa! That's certainly a lot for all of you to be dealing with at the moment.
Secondly, as for any advice, well... This really does sound like a situation that should be "handled" by someone who knows both of your friends. Is there a school counselor you could ask? Is there a local GLBT Youth Center you could call? Otherwise...

DR the vixter, re: your question -
I wouldn't presume to offer specific advice. However, I would urge extreme caution and consideration for all parties. Not all parents are so understanding. It's just shy of 4 minutes.
That was torture to watch & took about 10 minutes with all the stops I experienced. I would like to have seen more of them rewarded :)

Vixter- check your e-mail.

I know for sure it's "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Why are you so clear on this one?

It's just awful how bad 2009 has been for some of our Kimlets.
I keep crossing my fingers, toes and eyes that it's not contagious.

you wild thing, you!!
That's me!! :)
Oh, he doesn't know the HALF of it! :)

Well tomorrow I have an appointment to see a vascular surgeon and tuesday I have an appointment with an orthopedist. I hope between the two of them a solution will be found for my constant pain. I see how people can get hooked on pain killers if they have to live with this day in and day out. I am not taking anything for the pain but just resting which seems to alleviate the discomfort.

I was never really a rock and roller. The only rock band that I liked enough to buy one of their albums was Chicago. I think it was because of what I perceived as jazz influence in their music

I have a new roof across the back of my house! The roofers were done right around 2:10, so I am thrilled beyond belief to have one part of my home renovation completed. I'll have to wait until next month to do anything else. Not a dime to my name for the rest of this month, I'm afraid. (Well, thankfully, some stock dividends pay out this month, and that's my spending money).
They did a wonderful job, and were really hard workers. They didn't even stop for lunch. Worked right through from 9:20 until 2.
Congrats, Matt! May you have many trouble-free years!
-
Congrats on the roof Matt. Glad you like it.
-
So how many of Dan Brown's new book did you sell, DR td??
To quote a fellow Borders employee (albeit one at the Park Avenue, NYC, store):
You have been knocked unconscious by Dan Brown. You are bleeding to death! You are bleeding to death! You have been slain by An Extremely Condescending, Angry Black Woman Who Blames Her Troubles Entirely On Your Incompetence At Locating A Book That H...asn't Even Arrived Yet. LOADING. PLEASE WAIT...
I sold precisely ONE before normal business hours.
Probably between 75 to 100 through the rest of the day.
I did however create the sales pyramid display for Dan Brown's tomes as well as an end cap.

DR Vixter, having a crush on someone one considers a good/best friend is always fraught with difficulty, not knowing if the best friend also feels the same way or not. Maybe someone within the group can find out how girl # 2 feels about girl # 1.
As for her father not knowing, that is a difficult one. Having to keep your girlfriend secret would not be fun...although that is certainly not rare. Perhaps she should discuss it with her mother (I am presuming from your post that her mom knows of her orientation).
It is fantastic that both gals have straight friends who are supportive of them. That is something that most of us here did not have when we were of high school age. Many of us had to pretend to be someone we weren't.
If she still can't decide what to do, then just have her watch an old Sandra Dee movie and cry. No doubt that is what a lot of us here did when face with seemingly impossible crushes.

Why are you so clear on this one?
It was playing on the car radio in the parking lot of my pediatrician's office. We were going there for my early allergy testing.
To quote YENTL, there are moments you remember all your life, this is one of those moments.
The WHY will never be known.
-
I don't think I know who Dan Brown is.
-
DR Vixter, I have a very good memory of what it was like in high school & the confusing mix of relationships between guy & gal friends. This adds a new, more difficult, dimension to the usual situation. OK, from experience….You can stay best friends with someone you really like, even though it hurts at times, not date and stay friends forever & be glad you never dated. You can date your close friend, not have it work, and still stay friends. It might not be the same friendship after so it is a risk. Last & best scenario (Keith’s & mine), you begin dating your best friend when you are both 17 and it lasts forever. Not easy to do at all & the statistics are against you.
You seem to know the secret the best friend didn’t share. I find that odd she hasn’t & does the one friend know she has been kept out of an important secret? Not knowing the secret I have no idea how that info might tip the scale. Secrets are not a good beginning for a relationship & they both seem to have one.
My advice is both these girls need to be older & really figure out who they are. If the one friend is as close to her mother as you say, what did her mother suggest?
-
While you have a cold?
I know, I know... But the cold seems to have left almost completely - as quickly as it came on in the first place. And I didn't want to wait too long in case supplies run out.
Hmmm, I wonder if it was allergies. There is a lot of that going around.
-
The Handyman Difficulties. That's the title of my next extravaganza.
-
I don't think I know who Dan Brown is.
I don't think he knows you, either, DR MBarnum. ;)
He wrote one of the most popular, and highest selling novels of all time: THE DA VINCI CODE.
It's been six years since he published that novel, so the expectations for his new novel THE LOST SYMBOL are quite high (at least sales-wise).
-
Back from a lame casting session. It was mainly to hear one actor again. I was asked to give him some direction before he came in, even though I knew he wasn't right for the role (I'm a friend and fan of the actor in question). So, I told him not to be bombastic or loud. He came in and was - wait for it - bombastic and loud. Really interesting. I toned him down and he was better but still not right for the role.
-
Can someone who has Ken Mandelbaum's book Not Since Carrie please PM me.

You have a PM, BK.

Greetings from Union Square West where...
-You could pick up a sweet treat from Doug and Brian at The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. -The elderflower syrup is quite deelish.
-You can preview "The New Ann" in a pop-up shop on the Square. -Which is manned by some attractive women and men. ;)
-And/or you could grab a spot on the sidewalk and list to Chloé Temtchine perform songs from her debut CD. Out of the back of a truck. "Where in the Truck is Chloé?" www.chloeqt.com
-Or you could just grab a chair in Starbucks (like I currently am doing), or a bench in the park and continue to take in this beautiful late Summer/early Fall evening.
:)

Larry, there's good news and bad not-great news...the good news is that I was able to record yesterday's Guiding Light episode early this morning, make a DVD and it's ready to send to you today.
But I got it. :)
DR George, bless you! I think that's fine. Can I send you DR dakotacelt's address? You can send it to her, if you don't mind.

DR elmore3003 - sorry to hear about the handyman difficulties. :(
I was having my meeting with the FINIAN'S RAINBOW copyist when George called. He says tomorow. Fine with me.

Ron Raines' character died today on THE GUIDING LIGHT. It was a very moving episode. I had known it was coming from something his wife mentioned on Sunday, but it was still sad. Even knowing that Ron isn't the character, I still find it difficult watchng friends die in roles.

Had a nice lunch at Hugo's - pasta papa and a small Caesar salad.

Just had a twenty minute telephonic conversation with my mastering engineer about our upcoming triple bill. Meanwhile, today I got the first pass at the cast album master and I'll be listening to that later today.

I'm quite full from pasta papa. I think I'll sit on my couch like so much fish. I've also been enjoying the opera elmore recommended to me the other day.

I have a ticket to see Joe Nichols in concert this coming Saturday.

So, DR George - Dan Brown's book is released today. Presumably your library branch [or system] purchased multiple copies. Just curious on the turnaround time. When might the first people on the waiting list be able to check out a copy and start reading?

T.O.D.
Growing up with an older sister, I can't be sure what rock-n-roll song was the first, but Elvis singing DON'T BE CRUEL and LOVE ME TENDER on Ed Sullivan had to be failry early in my musical memories.
I bought a lot of OBC recordings, but probably the first "rock album" I bought (and it was pretty white bread) was probably THIS DIAMOND RING by Gary Lewis and the Playboys.
-
Just watched a very good episode of Mad Men - The Hobo something or other. Peggy was featured heavily, and we like her, plus Bryan Batt got a real chance to shine in this episode with a very good scene - lots of subtext and he did a great job.

Welcome back to New York DR JOSE.
Your new native American name is Beer on the Seat.
:)
Although, I think the more accurate name would be: He Who's Seat Smells Like Beer.
And how many men people would know that?

Bravo, Ron!
It is because of dentists like Dr. Chew that I have to have nitrous to even sit in a dentist's chair, and my sister has to be completely put to sleep for any dental procedure.
-
In defense of Dr. Chew, he's one of the best dentists in Los Angeles and I've rarely had any problems - I think he did not understand what I was saying - he thought it had to do with my gums - I could barely speak there was so much cotton in my mouth - I should have asked him to stop. But when he saw that I was wincing he immediately shot the Novocain in the problem area.

We got our actual regular print books (35 copies, 449 holds!), large print books (7 copies) and talking books on CD (6 copies) late last week. They were processed and ready to go out by today. HOWEVER, last Friday, the holds lists for the LP and the TB formats were merged into one list! :o BIG MISTAKE!! There is no way to tell which format originally had which names.
They decided to print out the entire list of about 150 or so people and they sent e-mails to everyone who had an e-mail address and called anyone who didn't (I think that there were only 10 or so people who didn't) and explained what happened and asked which format did they want.
As of today, about 80% of them have responded. Some people have said that they went ahead and bought their own copy and didn't need either, and a few said that they wanted both the LP and TB. And I think that they're holding all the LP copies and TB copies until everyone has responded...who knows how long that'll take. ::)
-
My dentist told me to raise my hand if I had any pain. And he and the assistant asked if I was doing ok every now and again throughout.
-
Today, I was given orders for 10 more copies each of the regular print and large print formats and 6 more copies of the talking book on CD.
-
Thanks for the info and responses, DRs Ginny and George. I was just curious.

He is mine all mine and you cannot have him!
Seriously, Frank, the younger brother of the family who does all of the paperwork, was gorgeous and I nearly swooned every time I talked to him.
-
Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes about the roof. I am very happy with it, but the rain which arrives tomorrow or Thursday will let me know if I've spent my money wisely. It certainly LOOKS sturdy and solid.
-
I spent the first half of my evening watching the bonus features on WOLVERINE. I enjoyed some of the features a lot. The BD-Live feature which allows the user to look up any actor in a scene on the imdb while continuing to watch the movie worked seamlessly.
-
I'm very logey right now.
-
Next I watched another episode of CASTLE. I skipped the one with the frozen body since I just watched that on the network last week, so I went to the next one which was the voodoo episode with some creepy murders.
-
I'm very logey right now.
And evidently not bribable. ;)
-
The Internet is behaving very weirdly right now. Don't like it.
-
I have been slogging through this backlog of reviews I was handed when I joined Blu-ray. I'm down to one opera catalog title, one "ambient television" (I term I am trademarking, just so you know ;) ) title and a couple of others. Then I am ready for the onslaught of monthly titles I'll get from my assigned studios.
-
I watched another NCIS episode. This one had a Navy beauty pageant contestant found with her head stuffed down a toilet. Intriguing episode, the one where McGee has to chase a perp through a car wash (which was used the next season in the opening credits).
-
I got the OK to begin on MY NAME IS EARL tomorrow (on Blu-ray). I didn't watch the final season of the show, so this will be a treat to get to see these episodes now and in the best possible quality.

No matter how many times one has seen it on TV, nothing quite prepares you for the thrill of seeing OZ on the big screen. I used to go to MGM children's matinees back in the 70s and 80s when they showed it. The prints weren't always great, but I still found it thrilling to see.
-
Now I'm going to close up shop here and head downstairs for an early bedtime.
Good night!

I went to www.fandango.com, entered my zip code, then selected the date of Wednesday, September 23. :) It then displayed a list of theaters in my area, and the movies that will be shown on that date, and one theater is showing "The Wizard of Oz." I plan to see this, also!
Thanks for posting about it, Ben. I had no idea at all that this was being shown.

And now...to home.

SPOILER for today's GUIDING LIGHT
Ron Raines' character died today on THE GUIDING LIGHT. It was a very moving episode. I had known it was coming from something his wife mentioned on Sunday, but it was still sad. Even knowing that Ron isn't the character, I still find it difficult watchng friends die in roles.
I also watched the show today. It was moving. However he didn't really get to play a death scene. He had a risky surgery, seemed okay, and then just died on a park bench.
Plus his character has been one of the most despicable on the show. He's done some awful things (including killing one of the most beloved characters on the show, tammy).
Since the show is ending i don't think most fans will have a problem with them killing off a long time character. Although he claimed he changed (and saved his son with the surgery) he was still a pretty mean guy.

THIS IS FOR THE VIXTER
My advice would be similar to what is written here. I think it would be good if someone else could find out if girl #2 feels the same way, before girl #1 does something rash.
Since the girls are best friends and probably together a lot it probably would not be that hard to hide it if they were a couple. Although i don't really think hiding things is good.
I do agree with something DR jane said in her post. The girls are so young. And the chances are good that things won't work out even if girl #2 agrees to date girl #1. Does the girl really want to possibly lose her best friend?
And i think things could get very awkward if girl 2 does not feel the same way. That is why i think someone else should find out first.
Good luck!

During one promotion junket one of the gals got stinking drunk and passed out at the American Legion Hall...my inteviewee declined to say who which gal it was...but I suspect Roxanne!

Jane I could not have said it better...

Larry, there's good news and bad not-great news...the good news is that I was able to record yesterday's Guiding Light episode early this morning, make a DVD and it's ready to send to you today.

DR George, bless you! I think that's fine. Can I send you DR dakotacelt's address? You can send it to her, if you don't mind.
Thank you! You both are true gems.... I really do appreciate it...
I was able to get cbs to cooperate up here and did see RR's final scene... Needless to say it was a very well acted scene.

I hope you feel better Sam...

I am hoping some of the actors from GL will turn up in other projects. Several of them are extremely talented.
it is sad to see the loss of a television fixture of over 70 years.

I will mention again that if anyone is desirous of Taras Bulba now would be the time to tell me - I think it will be sold out by mid-day tomorrow - maybe tomorrow night at the latest.

As to the California gas prices - until the government steps in and calls them on their actions, they will continue to play these games until they can no longer get away with it. They are playing an especially dangerous game this time, given the prices in the rest of the country. They've got the oil and they have purposely not done what they needed to do.
The problem is that the oil companies have done nothing illegal or surreptitious - they are simply exercising business judgement in anticipating demand (had they estimated better they would have produced more and made more profits). Short of a major Act of Congress (unlikely) there is no provision in the law that would allow the government to mandate that a company produce a product - it would be much easier to relax the environmental requirements (at least temporarily) and that would allow CA to sell the same gasoline being marketed in other states.

DR Ben - Besides the screening in Central Park of "The Wizard of Oz", I also believe there is a screening or two scheduled for either The Ziegfeld, and I actually think Radio City Music Hall. I'll see if I can dig up that info. (To confirm or deny it.)

DR vixter - I've thought about this a bit more since I first read this earlier today, and I just re-read your post again...
Teenage hormones and emotions are never easy to deal with. After further thought, the bigger issue here is whether either of your friends are already sexually active. -Which is definitely information that should just be kept between you, your friends, and, ideally, their parents.
You and your friends are at that stage where "the world will end if...". However, as we all know, the world will not end, and life will go on. So... If you still really feel a need to help your friends out, then find a "local" adult. I'm guessing you've already talked about this situation with your parents. If not...
And as DR singdaw already intimated, if you sense that your friend is at an extreme end of the emotional spectrum, then maybe you should ask your Mom to talk to her Mom. But again... ???
