Well, you've read the notes, the notes had dignity, always dignity, and now it is time for you to post until the dignified cows come home.

In my mind's ear, I hear Walter Cronkite saying this.  With an echo effect.        :)

Sunday morning greetings!  Richard was called to Lima late yesterday afternoon for pastoral duties, so Rob and I spent the afternoon at Middfest and brought our Indonesian houseguest Alex home for a snack and to crash.  I'm up early this morning, because Alex told us last night that he likes "big American breakfast."   Do you think bacon, eggs, waffles, juice, coffee/tea will fill the bill?

Good morning, all! I slept relatively well, but my left leg is definitely causing me problems. when I go in for my flu shot, i will ask the doctor to investigate further. I think it's arthritis in my hip joint, but it's getting quite uncomfortable and giving me a bad time walking, which I do not need.

The laundry is in the washers, and I need to tidy the apartment and mop the bathroom while things are drying. I'm thinking about running over to Cafe 82 for eggs this morning as well. After that, I need to reconcile my FR check with the invoice - I would hate it if I screwed it up - and write my two fixes for the copyist. I may need to run them up to 172nd Street this afternoon. The two fixes are in Act Two, which we won't hear until Tuesday, but I'd like them in for Tuesday so we know they work. I think there are a few new cues coming down the pike but I will not worry about them till I get them.

That's my day.

DR George, thanks for the report on ZOMBIELAND. I loved SHAUN OF THE DEAD. I also want to see PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, which I hear is really terrifying, but I have to hold off on that till I finish FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I can't afford the fatigue from being too frightened to sleep. This only happened to me on the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and I had a month of nightmares after that film. I remember in the 1970s being amazed that THE EXORCIST had so terrified my sister-in-law Carolyn and her firend Snooky, and I thought they were insane. The damned BLair Witch did a complete number on me and I am much kind in my old age. I am such a wuss.

Like DR MattH, I have a lot of things to watch on my PVR.

Yesterday I got through 2 THE GOOD WIFES (which I said i really really liked) and the first 2 SMALLVILES.  I'm frustrated with this show.  There are some good things (mostly with lois and chloe) and some awful stuff i end up having to ff thru.

I have not yet watched the first 2 HEROES (just haven't felt like watching). And i also have the first 2 FASTFORWARDS. And the last 2 THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

I also have the movie MILK, which i never saw.

I've gone back and forth about taking a day off, but I've decided I'll work today and have tomorrow off. Today I'll be watching THE PROPOSAL on Blu-ray. I'm really in the mood for a wonderful romantic comedy, and I hope this is it. Ryan Reynolds has stolen the last several films I've seen him in as support for higher billed stars. Looking forward to seeing him as the star for a change.

As for the shows on my DVR, I'm going to try to get at least two watched today: I'll watch FAST FORWARD as I eat lunch, and I'll likely watch GHOST WHISPERER when I go back downstairs in a bit prior to starting to fix lunch.

The series premiere of the Alex O'Laughlin medical drama THREE RIVERS is tonight. I'll bet it'll get delayed from its 9 p.m. start time by a baseball runover, but I'll try to record it nevertheless. Shouldn't be a problem since I have dropped DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES from my viewing schedule.

I was curious about THREE RIVERS until I saw the strange tv  commercial for the show which was interspersed with a rock band and a keyboard player banging away between scenes from the show. My initial reaction of what the hell quickly turned to intense loathing.

Had kind of a fun day whittling down my review chores.  Watched a 2008 Harmonia Mundi BD of Don Giovanni, which has some of the oddest tempi choices ever (the Commendatore scene is an Allegretto, at least, LOL), and finished up the excellent, if derivative, Mark Burnett quasi-documentary Expedition Africa.  Now I only have two catalog titles left (Sum of all Fears and Hell Ride) until the next onslaught.  But I expect that mammoth boxed set of Snow White this week which will take quite a bit of time to get through.  Plus Betsy leaves for Reno today (for her quickie divorce), so I will be doing Dad Duty.

Jrand, the Holy Grail release is a month away - tonight I may announce our next release, which is really fun and pretty much a historic release of music from two beloved films (and the main title from a third) - the world premiere release for all the music.  This was an incredible coup - these titles were the first thing I asked for when I began my deal with MGM, but at that time there were problems that were seemingly insurmountable, but three weeks ago the problems went away and it worked out.  I think some people will be very excited about it.

The Holy Grail release is something totally other.  It's from a studio that no one could get into until recently, and involves a score that is, for me, a personal Holy Grail.  How others will see it I know not, although the film, for those who've seen it, is really loved.  The second title on the CD is from a lesser-known film but from the same composer, and it is so beautiful it's up there with the best of that period for this composer.  The two films in question were both released in the 1960s a year apart from each other.  And that's all I'm saying.

Nope - you need sausage, homefries and toast.

In some locales, a "big breakfast" would require a meat dish like pork chops, fried chicken, or cold roast beef

Just finished Murder at the Hollywood Historical Society. Will put together a review to post.
But would like to say this is my favorite of the three. Although I got one clue right away it took Adriana a chapter to figure it out. Glad to say that I wasn't a 100% of who the murderer might be this time around and was satisfied who it turned out to be Also my my major concern about the last novel was rectified in this one. I'm glad I finally found time to read it to its conclusion

While I ate lunch, I watched last week's FLASH FORWARD. Loved it as much as the pilot, and there were intriguing, scary, poignant, and perplexing moments. They'll doling out small dollops of information just like LOST did in its first season, some right on point and some misdirections. Grand fun.

Then I watched THE PROPOSAL. It was mildly enjoyable. WOnderfully pleasing actors (Ryan Reynolds with the body of Zeus, Oscar Nunez and Betty White stealing every scene they were in), but there certainly wasn't much original in the premise of execution. Frankly, 27 DRESSES, which was made by the same director and got pretty bad reviews, actually had more originality than this movie.

Since I have watched the Blu-rays of PINOCCHIO and SNOW WHITE this week, I put in CINDERELLA (regular DVD, of course) and began watching it. Only got about 10 minutes in, but it looks simply beautiful upconverted. I'll finish it tonight time permitting.

In that announcement about tonight's THREE RIVERS, I mentioned there might be a "baseball" runover. Of course, I meant a football runover.

CBS has allowed quite a gap between scheduled football and 60 Minutes

Back from my errands. I have fixes to write in the Bows and a new ending to the Exit Music. Won't be difficult and I'll try to finish it tonight. I have to be at the theatre around 9 or 9:15 when the sound check begins.

I got off the subway at 103rd Street, thinking I would take a bus down Broadway but there was a street frair runing north on Broadway from 96th Street. I walked down Broadway through the fair to 94th, caught the bus, and here I am. The first Mummy film with Brendan Fraser is playing on the tv at the moment, but I think I'll catch up on some DVDs.

On my way into my building, I ran into the super's wife who just returned from Belgrade. She brought me a gift from Dragan, which was very kind of them. I haven't opened them yet. I needed to take care of my new shoelaces and my Amazon.com package she was holding for me as well.

I'm up early this morning, because Alex told us last night that he likes "big American breakfast."   Do you think bacon, eggs, waffles, juice, coffee/tea will fill the bill?

Nope - you need sausage, homefries and toast.

der Brucer

In some locales, a "big breakfast" would require a meat dish like pork chops, fried chicken, or cold roast beef

There are a lot of folks around here who would want grits, too.

DR George, we just added ZOMBIELAND to our NetFlix queue.  Thanks :D

I gave Penny the copy of GLEE you sent us.  She was very happy to have it.

I wouldn't have thought that Zombieland would be listed on Netflix so soon.  Go know.

And I'm glad Penny is able to see the episode of "Glee," too!

No, we're not doing To Kill A Mockingbird, much as I would love to.  Tonight's announcement is a two-fer and, for me, a somewhat historic release for reasons that will become apparent, and which has to do more with the films and filmmaker than anything else.  It's a world premiere for everything on the CD, which includes a bonus track from a third film.

The Holy Grail, which probably won't be announced until November at some point is a personal Holy Grail and involves two films, same composer.

The FSM project, for which I provided the tapes, is something that will make people very happy - the Kritzerland logo will appear on that release, which is nice.

We rarely go to the movie theaters anymore.  We check out the current movies & add the ones we are interested in to our NetFlix queue.  It is great, we don't have to remember which movies we wanted to see & missed.  Often by the time they arrive we don't remember why we added the movie to our queue ;D

Alas, we never got to see James Marsden in a towel in "27 Dresses".  ::)

I haven't heard any further news.

I did check the public timeline on Twitter, and there were a couple of tweets from audience members who were in attendance.  I also ran into one of the concession workers - who ended up with afternoon off - and he remembers running into the reporter as he was leaving the theatre. - And then was surprised to hear that the news made it to the web so fast.  BroadwayWorld.com also broke the news.  In any case...

I really do hope that Tony Roberts is doing well, and getting a good night's rest tonight.

I'm curious too (I loved Alex O' in Moonlight) -- as I was driving back from LA a commercial came on the radio for it, and boy did the lines/sound bites sound melodramatic (dare I say soap opera-ish ...) at times some of his words in his dialogue even sounded like the movie trailer guy ... maybe it will play better with visuals ...

When I went back down and into the theater room, I finished watching CINDERELLA. I remember some people having absolute fits that Cinderella's wedding dress was light gray rather than snow white (another film entirely!), but otherwise, I think the film looks magnificent on DVD using upconversion technology. I cannot imagine how much better it could look in high def. But I'll be eager to see it whenever it comes around on DIsney's Blu-ray slate. Not for two or three years I'm sure.

I then began watching shows on the DVR to get it as cleared off as possible. I began with MEDIUM. I see what some folks were saying about the possession of Ariel. I don't understand why Allison holding her daughter caused such a malevolent spirit to leave her. We either needed more explanation, or they needed a better ending.

Up until then, it was really a good episode though derivative of previous MEDIUM episodes when Allison's been possessed by some ghost or she swaps personalities with someone else.

Watching Mad Men.  Prior to that I decided to start figuring out the cues for movie number two on the Holy Grail release.  Taking much longer than movie one because some of it is out of order and some has been futzed with in the way it's used in the film.  I'm about an hour in on this two hour film.  There are a few source cues I'll use in the score where they occur, but I'm moving the others as bonus tracks because they really interrupt the flow of things.  Plus there are the damaged cues, two of which weren't important at all and one of which I'll use because the damage is only in the first fifteen seconds.

So far, not a stellar episode of Mad Men - more of a time passer, really, with almost none of it taking place at Sterling Cooper.

Spoiler Alerts?

??? I certainly don't see anything spoiled in that message.

Just being pre-emptive.  Just in case.

After listening to all the Beatles cd's this weekend, I realized that I do not relate to the early ones at all.  I must have been too young.   The original sound recording that I have of Revolver, is still my favorite.

For my building, bullies never win.  I've lived in this neighborhood since 1965.  It's changed quite a bit, but it's still a family neighborhood.  The new manager here has 2 children under 7 years old.  The two apt's., who think they own the place can just get over it.

Putting notes on my door was just stupid.   What's that line from Shakespear about protesting too much.

Well, I still have a few things to do before getting to sleep every work night before 11:00pm.  I've already been warned that October will be really busy.

I'm looking forward to the cold weather of the holidays (I hope cold anyway).

Hello all   I spent the weekend trying  to rid my closets of clothes that no longer fit me - my goodness I have an abundance of those these days

While I was closte cleaning I watched a DVD that arrived yesterday from Blockbuster -I have no memory of ordering it but I am assuming  that someone on this here board mentioned it and that is how I cam to order it - it is called "If the World Were Mine"

I really enjoyed it - so thaks to to whomever recommended it - in fact I watched it twice!

And speaking of "Mad Men"...

While I was out and about today, I stopped by the Ed Sullivan Theater to put my name in for tickets for a taping of "The Late Show with David Letterman" this week.  Well, about an hour after I filled out the form, I received a call, and I will be going to tomorrow's second taping.  -I was sort of hoping to attend to the first taping of the day since Lea Michele ("Glee", Spring Awakening) will be appearing, but I just checked the guest schedule for this week, and it looks like I'll be seeing the "Mad Man" himself, John Hamm.  YUM! ::)

I hope you enjoy the Letterman show Jose - the last time we went I was hugely pregnant with the Vixter and the NBC usher  (yes it was in the pre CBS days) took one look at my huge belly  and decided that we did not need to wait in line but escorted us into the theater and the 2nd row - that evening while Dave was talking abou the guy that broke into that Waco compound while the FBI had it surrounded he pointed out Vixdad as being that guy

I just caught up to yetserday - congrats to Gabe on his People to People nomination  - the Vixter has been asked a few times now-  unfortunately the local chapter here does not seem to grant scholarships and it was well beyond our pocketbook - we actually just got another one this year  for  2 weeks in Australia - (this past summer's trip was to England, Scotland and Wales which I really would have liked for her to see since of course that is where Vixdad is from)

I went last December - it was their final taping of the year, their Christmas show.  I had a blast, and I'm looking forward to seeing the show again tomorrow.  I think this will be my eighth or ninth time.

I've spent the last three hours (and four and a half in total) doing the edit road map and figuring out all the cues for the second half of the Holy Grail soundtrack.  This one was completely maddening for reasons I will explain in the notes - it gave me a splitting headache, so much so that I went to Jerry's Deli and got some chicken soup and rye bread to go - just ate it all up.  And I guess the horrible hot weather is done - it was nice today, and I actually had to heat the house up this evening.

I also made a test CD (actually, a 2-CD set) of the concert that François posted about the other day.  It's only one track on each disc right now, but I want to make sure that it all sounds okay before I take the time to break it up into tracks.  I think that it'll be fine, but I just want to make sure. :)
