Today we had a flu shot clinic at church. Everyone within a quarter mile knew that Kelly did NOT want a flu shot.
DR vixmom, I believe I recommended WERE THE WORLD MINE to you. Charlotte and I liked it very much.
And the word of the day is: ECRU!

Probably I cannot think of a TOD....except maybe....what is your favorite film directed by Cecil Blount DeMille?
Posted this to ATC, but I don't think anyone there knows the song it's parodying, The King of Wishful Thinking, so i thought I'd try it here, too, in part so that it's on the net for posterity, or as long as HHW is googlable. :)
One of the very few Cassingles (cassette singles) I bought back in the pre-CD days!
DR elmore -- I am SO looking forward to Finian's Rainbow. I can't tell you how much I love that show!
Well... Time for me to head out for the day... Errands to take care of... Phone calls to make... "Letterman" taping to attend...
Laters...

I got my flu shot yesterday. I was promised a fun bandaid and a lollipop and didn't get either! What a rip-off! ::)
the Kimmel connection
I am feeling better now - thanks to everyone for the get well soon vibes - they worked!
Next Sunday in church we will be singing "Down to the River to Pray" in the arrangement from the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack.
"Off to the Reservoir to Party"
...seeing how the clinic was a dismal failure.
that sounds great because Bananas has a really great score. Now I have a couple of questions.
!) In Everything You Always Wanted....There was a sequence where Allen and Lousie Lasser played spiders doing a mating ritual and in the end Lasser kills Allen at the end of the ritual. The sequence was cut after a couple of previews.
Was it scored and will be included on the cd?
2) Don't know why I remember this, but Hamlisch was on some show where he talked about scoring the picture. He mentions that he wrote two different music underscores for the same scene. Any chance they both are on the cd to be? I would have to watch the movie to tell you which scene it was. I believe one was slow and the one that was used was uptempo and part of it or he whole thing took place in his apartment.

Virtue is overrated.
I had big dreams, DerBrucer.
I have the original painting done for a cover of Gourmet back in the early 1950s.
We watched MEDIUM & think Sofia Vassilieva(Ariel) gave an excellent performance. I agree with Matt H the ending was a bit weak, more in that a certain question was not asked of Ariel.
EVEN AS LAYOFFS PERSIST, SOME GOOD JOBS HARD TO FILL
…
It's become especially hard to find accountants, health care workers, software sales representatives, actuaries, data analysts, physical therapists and electrical engineers, labor analysts say. And employers that demand highly specialized training — like biotech firms that need plant scientists or energy companies that need geotechnical engineers to build offshore platforms — struggle even more to fill jobs.

(Based on the reviews and chatter for Carrie Fisher's show WISHFUL DRINKING - I'm not seeing it until tomorrow)
THE KA-CHING OF WISHFUL DRINKING - a parody of THE KING OF WISHFUL THINKING
Here's the REAL song, if anyone wants to sing along: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry4iwzS4Na0
Remember when a hundred and ten
Was only something in the shade
Now that’s the price without any ice
Because attendance must be paid
When I read New Yorker’s Talk of the Town
It’s C-Carrie Fisher by herself
I worked overtime at my low wage
Spent my savings without thinking
‘Cause it’s Princess Leia on the stage
That’s the ka-ching of “Wishful Drinking”
That's the ka-ching of "Wishful Drinking"
I don’t choose to read her reviews
They’ll prob’ly tell me way too much
They’ll give away the quips that she’ll say
‘Bout Harrison and Mark and such
Since she has left a hole in my wallet
I’ve somehow got to fool myself
That the hundred ten plus service charge
That I shelled out without blinking
Doesn’t make the tension loom so large
I hocked my bling for “Wishful Drinking”
(repeat above)
I’ll get over it I know I will
Should I have spent the dough on Jackman and Craig
Or maybe Catherine Zeta Jones
Will the audience be hip and glam
That’d help if the show is stinking
Lord let Rosie sit near where I am
Will I see Sting at “Wishful Drinking”
Or Larry King at “Wishful Drinking”
I’ll get over it, won't kvetch and cuss
She has a place in my heart
But lord I spent a hundred plus
I hope there’s zing to “Wishful Drinking”
(to fade-out)
I’ll get over it, I know I will
I’ll pretend there’s a cast of thirty
And I’ll miss Catherine Zeta Jones
To see this thing called “Wishful Drinking”

DR Julie - do you have definite FR plans? The matinee on Oct. 24 seems to be popular with Hainsies/Kimlets - well, at lease with the Vixwomen and my DH and myself!

Thanks DR Ginny! It would have been great to go on the same day as you and Richard and the Vixwomen, but I am attending a special birthday party that day, so I can't take in the matinee. Do you have plans for that evening - perhaps if you are all getting together for dinner before an evening show I could join in?
I love the St James - the home of The Pajama Game (original) and Hello, Dolly! and for years, I thought, home of Phantom of the Opera.
Well, visitors to The Louvre will now be able to gorge on McDonald's (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/05/mcdonalds-to-open-a-resta_n_309453.html) at the same time! :P
Nothing to be embarrassed by, I didn't know "Hard Out Here for a Pimp" until it got an Oscar nomination :)Actual it won the Oscar that year.
DR Laura, I see the 2nd monarch returned to your garden :). Are you keeping a record daily sightings?
several different bride magazines were also hitting the sheets
Regardless what you may think about Letterman's morals, or lack thereof, everyone must remember that David Letterman IS the victim here. And until further evidence and testimony is put before the public, there are no other victims at this point in/and time.
I don't think GOURMET magazine is the only magazine that is ceasing publication. I was in the doctor's office and caught the tail end of the report. They were focusing on breaking news in Florida. But I think they mentioned several different bride magazines were also hitting the sheets.
DR Laura, I see the 2nd monarch returned to your garden :). Are you keeping a record daily sightings?
Both of them emerged today, Jane. I haven't seen the others. They flew off somewhere.
I believe that is five so far.

The woman is also a victim if it is true the pages were stolen from her diary by her then live-in boy friend.
DR Laura - Are you sure that those scientists aren't trying to track you instead of the monarchs?

True. But she was also a victim of Halderman's stupidity and greed, as was Letterman.
I haven't heard from The Game Warden in months. Maybe he has abandoned me.

I found out to day that I have the option to have a medical procedure or not to have one on my leg. If I do, it may or may not alleviate the discomfort that I am having. But I don't want to have to wear a compression stocking for the rest of my life if I don't do it. The prodecure is call Endovenous Laser Treatment.
We went for our seasonal flu shots today. I wish I had done it when my allergies weren't bothering me. So far I don't feel any worse. I will take a Benadryl tonight.
Does any plan to set the swine flu shot? I'm pretty sure I'll pass on it.
That's great DR George, and this time you won't have to drive as far. :)
Ready to Relax!
I talked to Evil Kurt on Saturday and we made tentative plans to go see MR BK'S THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X when it is presented by Buck Creek Players next spring.

Good luck tomorrow DR Cilla!! At least you don't have to worry about telling your friend, I don't think you will share one with him now whatever happens.
A very happy birthday to former DR Jenny!

Tonight's Top Ten was perfect for Jose. LOL

Your back went out? On a date?
Has anyone seen the new Michael Moore movie?
Different strokes for Mad Men. I thought it was the weakest episode of the entire series. And, I must say, so did some friends of mine who are HUGE fans.

It was a long day at the St James, which housed two Rodgers and Hammerstein shows, OKLAHOMA! and FLOWER DRUM SONG. The morning was really unnecessary for me because it was mostly taken up with squeezing 23 players into the orchestra pit. We had to lose two timpani to accommodate the two horn players and Josh Clayton, the string synth player, is back in the orchestra's green room with a tv monitor. The sond man also spent some time setting up mikes and having the various players run sections of the score for him. When we got back from lunch, we ran the cues we'd never played before and then ran Act one. It was a work session so we'd run a few pages of dialogue and a number, go back and work things, and continue. A lot of time was spent on the magic tricks that Og the leprechaun has to perform. some of them are very funny. It was a good day; I love David Schramm as Senator Rawkins; he reminds me a bit of Foghorn Leghorn.

Yes, it was a great show. Very funny, and a perfect balance of "uncomfortable tension", seriousness and humility. -At least that's what I thought. I loved when he started the series of politician jokes.
I did make the audience "pan". Just barely. The "coming attractions" box went up just as my section of the audience was in view. However, as the camera panned up to the balcony, I caught a very brief glimpse of me in the Audience Left side of the house, ten rows back, on the aisle. *Just look for the "patch of dark blue". ;)

And I really, really, really (that's 3 really's) liked Steve Martin's opening words. :) -Yes, I know, I said that before, and I just said it again. ::)

I think I saw you! I recorded it so I'll look again, but I saw someone in an aisle seat on the left side of the house I thought was you when I paused it. I'll check to see if I was right.
yup, dark blue. Was there a woman sitting behind you?
